The shell fish is cooked on the same surface as all other foods. Which means risk of cross contamination. So then the menu is extremely limited for those with an allergy. The server was great atmosphere pleasant and clean. Just limited menu. read more

First time at Dave's Valley Grill. The restaurant is super cute with open tables and a few booths with natural light flowing in from the windows. I was seated very quickly and the server was knowledgeable about the menu and offered a few recommendations. I came for brunch and the menu had all the classics with a few southwestern twists. I had the shrimp and grits since it was something you don't typically see on a menu in the southwest. The shrimp were well cooked, the grits were cheesy with a little texture, and the sauce had good flavor. My only minor recommendations would be to have some more andouille sausage in the sauce and a little more heat. I asked for some green chili on the side and it topped things off perfectly. The eggs were cooked nicely over easy but weren't important to the dish. Really good for New Mexico. I'll definitely be back to Dave's when I'm in Albuquerque. We found this cute restaurant accidently. We pulled into the little strip mall to get directions to another restaurant, saw Dave's and decided to try it. They offer a unique brunch menu. Not your usual fare. My friends enjoyed the huevos rancheros with red chile and avocado toast. I ordered the country fried steak with green chile cream gravy, skillet potatoes and eggs. The steak was decent and the gravy was tasty. I ordered my eggs scrambled soft and they were cooked very well, dry and I did not enjoy them very much. Our waitress was awesome, very pleasant and excellent service which made our visit quite enjoyable. I will be back to try more of their menu. read more

Had been wanting to go here for a while and found a perfect day to go a couple of weeks ago. We started off with the Hatch Green Chile Queso with chips which was delicious and so fresh. My hubby ordered the Pear & Brie Salad which he raved over. I ordered the Fire Braised Ribs which were good. My meal also came with 2 sides, soup & green chile cheddar drop biscuits. Everything and I do mean EVERYTHING was homemade and fresh. We really enjoyed everything we had. The service was wonderful and quick and everyone was so attentive and friendly. We came here for breakfast. This place has a really great atmosphere. Everything inside is modern, nice and unique. It is much bigger than it looks from the outside. Our server was very polite and prompt. Food did come out quickly. The food was our disappointment though. It wasn't terrible, but very basic. We had hopes of more items being homemade and fresh, but a lot of the food seemed like it was originally frozen. Their gravy tasted like country time packets with green chili added. Prices were decent, may give them another shot for lunch, but their food is missing they umph that we thought this place would have had. For us it was just meh. Wow what a difference between Dave's Valley grill and Dave's high desert . Valley grill had such spectacular servers, greeters, cleaners. I was amazed. Tucked in a strip mall with a feeling of kinda going back in time. Very open and welcoming. Dad had meatloaf with corn stated he loved the meat loaf but didn't care for the corn. Friday breakfast was great! It was pretty dark inside being that it was 9 in the morning i'd hope it would be brighter it felt more like a dinner light setting. The entire staff was very friendly and took care of us. I got the biscuits and gravy which were awesome. The cheddar and green chili biscuit really worked well. The bacon however was really over cooked and would break into pieces. Overall though the food was good, look to spend about 40 bucks for two people. read more

Tried Dave's Valkey Grill for the first time and it's safe to say I'll definitely be back! I ordered a burger and fries the burger was juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked, and the fries were crispy and golden (just how I like them!). But the real MVP? The green chile biscuits. Seriously, do not skip them. They're soft, buttery, and have just the right kick from the green chile totally unique and packed with flavor. I could eat a basket of those alone! The whole meal hit the spot, from the classic burger and fries combo to that spicy, savory biscuit surprise. We recently moved back to the North Valley and went into Dave's after voting one day. The bar area has a safari like tiger theme. The space is very welcoming and their bartender is one of the nicest people you could meet. After several stops in he knows what you drink and is quite the joker. I have been in for brunch which serves great mimosas and the hue is rancheros are made to order with a good amount of heat in their red chili. I have gone for happy hour and ordered great bites off the special menu. Reasonably priced items for a quick fix. I have had their meat loaf for a heavier meal, their bbq sandwich with golden French fries, their house salad, simple and fresh. My favorite is the fish tacos. They have this sauce drizzled on each taco and not sure what it is but the fish mixed with the cabbage topped with this sauce makes for a perfect fish taco. It's. Ice to have found this neighborhood restaurant. It has become one of our "go too" spots! read more

We were impressed by the queso; the chips were thin and crisp and the queso thin but tasty. I got the fish tacos and oh my! The grilled haddock was tasty and the coleslaw with crema sauce perfect. The fries were crispy and well seasoned. My spouse got the Old Standard breakfast. The bacon was crispy, the eggs cooked perfectly, the potatoes were fine, and the pancake just right. We will return! Best pancakes I've had in a good while! Soft on the inside with a buttery crunch on the outside. I had the country breakfast bowl no beans sub cheesy grits and it was absolutely delicious, also got the short ribs on bubble and squeak and that dish was so tasty. This was our 2nd visit- thought we would stop in for lunch today- no wait, seated right away and greeted by our server immediately. Bella offered water while we decided on drinks- (it was 11:58 am by the way) and she walked away. Maybe 5 minutes went by, she was mixing drinks at the bar, water came in another minute or so. She took not only our drink order but our food order as well- and left our table. Several young women approached the bar and greeted Bella- the bartender/server, that was assigned to us. Bella was mixing drinks and chatting it up and time was simply ticking away. About 12:10 she brought one of our drinks and said the martini would be right out. Lots of distractions and chatting and running around to other tables and locations in the restaurant ensued and finally at 12:23 we alerted the hostess and told her we were leaving and we did. And will probably not go back. So we didn't drink the one cocktail that was delivered so we can't review the quality or the food that we never got, we can attest to poor service and that's what we experienced. read more

Went to Dave's valley Grill for supper. It had been years since we had gone. They have a happy hour from 3-6 pm which is nice. We started with the potato skins. They were delicious. My husband ordered braised short ribs with mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese. They brought out some biscuits with his green Chile chicken soup. The biscuits were very tasty. I ordered the fish and chips. They were on the happy hour menu. Again super tasty. Our waitress was very attentive and kept up on the tea refills. We will definetly be going back. read more

That had to be one of the absolute worst meals I have ever eaten. It doesn't matter how great the service is, the ambiance (also terrible). That food was horrific. A bowl of melted cheese with a couple noodles in it, they claim it was "Mac n cheese". Somehow that was the best thing on my $20 dollar plate. Service was great. Food. Was. TERRIBLE. I'd been wanting to try this place for months after seeing all the great reviews on Yelp. I ordered the Blue Corn pancakes w fresh blueberries and bacon. I've always loved these at other places. BUT... I was very disappointed with my first bite. They were dry, thin and dense, lacking flavor and I counted 2-3 blueberries hidden in the 2 pancakes. They looked like 2 pieces of leather laying there (see pic) The menu promised fresh blueberries which would have made a huge difference in the texture and flavor. I couldn't finish them even with all the butter and syrup provided. The bacon was crispy as I'd asked for. The service was ok. The server made no effort to be welcoming or friendly or even ask how my food was. The place was nice and clean inside - a bit sterile. The lunch crowd had started to arrive. They have a big menu and bar menu with a Happy Hour advertised. I might be back to try something else but definitely NOT the blue corn blueberry pancakes. On entry I was impressed by how clean and low key nicely decorated DVG presents. We were promptly seated, although we were in for a very late lunch or early dinner at 4 pm. Our server was pleasant and reasonably prompt on drink refills. We had sandwiches today. I tried the Chicken Caprese sandwich and my spouse had the pulled pork. I had coffee and she had water only. My sandwich was very much out of my usual dining choices. I liked it in general, however it had a bit more pesto than prefer. Not a surprise since I am not a pesto fan, but I knew this when ordering. My wife had a taste and thought it superb. While I probably wouldn't order it again, I am glad I tried it. I had a taste of her pulled pork sandwich and thought their sauce was too sweet. But again, she really liked it. We both loved the fries and I thought their coffee was a very good brew. We are very happy to have discovered both of Dave's restaurants. I still think the braised short ribs are the best thing on the menu, but they have a wide menu and we want to try many of the dishes. Total for two sandwiches and a coffee with a 20+% tip came in at just over $40. A very good price compared to many other sandwich shops. read more

I am reluctant to post my review as I had such a mixed experience and feelings about my visits... yes I said visits... Upon my first visit to DVG I went with my husband and son. The restaurant itself is nice and wide open and a great space overall! We went during dinner and got a fantastically friendly waiter! He was quick to make suggestions and brought out our order quickly as we placed them! We ordered the pretzel appetizer, and it was huge and delicious! A little heavy on the salt, but something I'm sure if we remembered could be easily remedied. For our main course, we all ordered burgers... it was honestly the best burger that I had ever had in a restaurant! The patty was thick and delicious! The meat was fresh and charred perfectly from their grill! The bbq sauce on the burger was also a great flavor to complement the meat! Perfection! It was so great that later in the week we decided to go for brunch... this was a much different experience. Our waitress while nice enough, made it feel like it was really a task to wait on us. She has her usuals and was very attentive to them, but overlooked us a few times... we got our food after a wait but it all looked great! I ate most of my biscuits and gravy! Was a lot of food, even enough to give one to my husband... tho the green chile was a little hot... but that was more a complaint from my acid reflux and not my tastebuds lol... Tasted my eggs finally and honesty there was no salt or pepper on them... easy enough fix... well I salted my food... sadly enough tasted it... decided maybe to add a bit more... but as I was turning the shaker over, actually saw there was a bug in the salt shaker... when the waitress finally did come I showed her and explained that it was off putting and I definitely did not want my eggs. She offered me more (as these were bought separately) which I declined because her lack of care or concern over the actual problem of the bug... she took the shaker back and the eggs and that was all we heard about it til she brought the check and told us the eggs were removed from the check... I would have liked a manager to have stepped in or someone to show any concern for the fact of that bug (that honestly looked like a tiny cockroach) b it there was none... I will not be returning as that was very off putting and to be honest... gross... so tread with caution and check your salt shakers .... read more

They are Trumpers. Hard pass. Aside from that, the food is mediocre at best. Chilé is relatively tasteless.

I didn't take a pic of my food...shame on me! However, this is the 3rd or 4th time getting the beef short ribs, and they are consistently unbelievably moist and tender and melts in your mouth! There are many great things to choose from on the menu, but this is a must to try! I've never had beef that fork tender! I've had many tender steaks at high price; the tenderness and flavor of these short ribs are hard to beat. Very highly recommend! read more
