Once again, went to dinner at Joe's Pasta House for dinner and had an absolutely amazing meal. Had the Chicken Francese...it was cooked to perfection. Delicioso! My husband had the Chicken Parmigiana. I have to say it was the most tender but yet crispy absolutely the best chicken parmigiana I have EVER had. The sauce was sweet...once again...perfection. We've had both to-go and dine in, I would recommend dining in as its a world of difference. The calamari was really good, would definitely recommend it to anyone. The lasagna is famous and after you taste it, you'll see why. It's flavorful, rich, and filling. I could see it being too rich for someone if they tried to eat it all in one sitting. I don't do lasagna that often, but this would be at the top of my personal list. Our server was super nice and was on point keeping tabs on us. There was a special going on the last time we were there and the vaule for what we ordered was an easy 10 out 10 for us. I had to take my dessert home, I was so full. read more

Oh man, what a meal we had last night From fresh warm bread at the beginning to scratch made entrees. Superior service from start to finish Specialty drinks like cranberry pomegranate lemonade were a hit Alfredo dishes were ordered with extra Alfredo sauce and they brought a large bowl of it for all to share! RATS!! We visited this location today and were seated in the back room, where we noticed a rat climbing along the wires. We immediately reported it to the manager, who moved us to another area. Unfortunately, the service following that was extremely poor. The staff seemed rushed and dismissive, and one even announced that our card had declined -- loudly -- when our bank confirmed the charge was never attempted. Overall, it was an unpleasant experience and the worst service I've ever received at a restaurant. Update: the owner reached out and provided some in sight. They are working on this issue with a couple pest controls. The owner was very polite and showed concern with the way we were treated after reporting this. He states there will be a full refund for our meals unfortunately this should have been something the manager offered at the time this happened not just an after thought. This is a family owned restaurant so I understand the post can be hurtful to business. I will post another edit if we ever go back there. read more

The interior was very iconic ambiance for a family owned local Italian restaurant. It looked really cute inside, but around this time I was getting most of my meals to go so I didn't eat inside. I was told the lasagna was very popular so I got it. And yes it was pretty good, I did enjoy it. Was cheesy, the marinara tasted good, and the pasta itself had a good texture. His name is chuck I like the way he put your leftover food in to go containers to take home and he packs it up for you at the restaurant. The food here is consistently good. I just love their lasagna and I have had lasagna on the brain all week, and too lazy to make some at home. Such a production. The meatball and tortellini soup with wilted fresh spinach is always a winner. The order of spaghetti and meatballs was huge and 1/2 went home. We each got a chocolate chip cannoli to go. It will be devoured later, as I am so full now. Always like the bruschetta and fresh bread and took home the few recipes slices of that too. Our server was efficient. A second glass, a refill, of lemonade was ordered and we were charged $6.00 extra for that. I thought refills were complimentary. I guess not. Nice greeting at the door with a nice atmosphere had me enthused about dinner. Got seated at our table, one of six active tables and eight staff I noted....waited a solid five minutes before being acknowledged by a waiter if we had been helped....said no an he went and got our waiter who was polite and apologized for the delay. I thought it was odd the other seven staff weren't situationally aware that money could be made getting a cocktail or wine....in my mind they were struggling to get two stars. The server though was sincere and was helpful afterwards. Shrimp pasta dish was good with a slight kick and I would definitely do it again next visit to the area. Lasagna was cheesy and good too with just the right amount of everything. Another must try next visit. Good ambiance, wine pour was a little underwhelming for Chianti. The losing star is split with the manager and hostess for no communication that a table (I.e. paying customer) arrived. read more

We had heard about this quaint pasta house and were curious to try it for ourselves. Welcoming courteous staff as we stepped in the doors was refreshing. I ordered a Bellini and it was perfect. Our granddaughter ordered the Bambino spaghetti and meatballs and let us know it was "perfectly delicious". My partner had the lasagna and was very happy with his choice. I ordered the Southwestern Alfredo and was very happy with my choice. Food tasted fresh and yummy. We had leftovers because of the generous portion sizes. We will definitely be back. Im only sad i didn't get a chance to try dessert....next time. If you are looking for a quiet, welcoming and clean place to eat delicious pasta. This place is a must. read more

Seems really strange to visit New Mexico and want to go eat Italian but based on all the reviews I knew we had to try it. I must say...Joe's did not disappoint! We had the Caesar salad-so good! Went to joe's pasta house today, I've being going since 1992 . This new waitress they hired was so forgetful, no refill on sodas then forgot another beer. When ordering, we discussed I wanted my salmon cooked all the way and it was 1/2 raw. They did not offer to cook it more when told about it being undercooked. So, I had a bad experience a few years back with a to go order... Having a discount promotion that wasn't honored during time of pick up.... That said, I've gone back many times and every time it's been a great experience. Last night was a perfect example of this. For 40 bucks you get a huge container of spaghetti and meatballs, an amazing salad, a loaf of bread and enough condiments to feed an army. Not only do they give you a lot of food, which is delicious, but they package it in a way that is unlike any other restaurant or to go experience that I've ever had here in town. That little extra touch speaks volumes about how much they care about their customer... Just in my opinion :-) well done!!! read more

I've lived in Rio Rancho for 12 years and I've never been here. I was pretty excited because a lot of people in the past have told me it was really good. If you're hammered, it's probably great. If you aren't, it tastes like reheated microwave food. If the ingredients are fresh, I'll lick a poison dart frog. I had the chicken carbonara, I don't think I've ever seen a soupy carbonara before. I mean it was good, but I think gas station chimichangas are good, too. The place looks so outdated it's tacky as hell. They need to spend some money on their ingredients and the look of the place. My server was awesome though, so I would say the service is on point. I won't be back though. Unless I'm hammered. read more

4.5 stars Oh, so good. I normally don't come to this side of town, but I've been wanting to try Joe's for some time now. We came on a weekday, not too crowded at first. The outside looks unassuming, but don't let that fool you. We were seated near the fireplace. Our server was friendly and food came out quickly (and hot too!). While we were waiting, we got complimentary bread and olive oil (so good). I got the shrimp parmesan and my friend got the chicken alfredo, which both were heaping portions. The shrimp parmesan came with about 9 breaded jumbo shrimp with a heaping portion of spaghetti on the side ($22)- just enough for another meal. I had shrimp alfredo last night and it was poor. The fettuccine was overcooked. The sauce was scant and about as tasty as wallpaper paste, but it cemented the fettuccine pretty good! I make alfredo sauce at home and it's easy. For a hyped up restaurant it was bad, and not value for the money. The shrimp was ok - it only needed to be warmed - tough to louse that up. Total bill was around $200.00, not the first time to be disappointed with this Rio Rancho icon. The cooks need a lot more practice preparing pasta, they're not getting it from me! Moving from NJ to NM, I was completely apprehensive to try anything Italian... and boy was I shocked by this hidden gem! Absolutely delicious! We tried a little of everything and were completely impressed by the taste, service and experience this evening at Joe's Pasta House. We tried the green chili chicken ravioli which isn't a typical Italian dish and it was AMAZING! Had a very quaint, family vibe and just loved it here! We went on a Friday night and only had a 15-20 minute wait, zero wait at the bar so we ate there! And loved it! Fresh bread served upon being seated with oil and spices and bruschetta! Loved this touch. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu! They even made a homemade cocktail every week that I was given a taste of... and was to die for! Sooo yummy! I've heard about this place for decades but never came because it's out of the way. Took my mom to Santa Anna for her birthday and choose this place for lunch. I've been in the restaurant business for 30 years and this was by far the best place in the area. Fresh calamari and perfectly cooked pasta and guess what fair prices. Spent 65 for 2 dinners, appetizers , and a glass of wine. Highly recommend this place if you haven't been don't miss out! read more

We've been regulars at Joe's in Rio Rancho for over 20 years and it's always been fabulous - the food, the ambiance, the staff and attention to detail. This past weekend we decided to try the new location and we weren't disappointed. Same incredible food but a totally different ambiance and atmosphere. More casual, no white tablecloths.... but our waiter, Rio, was a stellar confirmation that Joe's continues to choose professionals to ensure an excellent dining experience for all. We had the Shrimp Scampinelle and baked ziti. $39. One of the best things about Joe's Pasta House is the fresh bread and bruschetta they serve before the meal. We've searched far and wide but there is no equal to the bruschetta. Somehow Joe found the perfect balance. The shrimp Scampinelle was one of the best we have ever had. And, so was the baked Ziti. As you can see the serving size is quite humongous. Maybe they should give you a t-shirt if you can finish it. Today everything was really great but what stood out even more than the fine food was our waitress. I can't remember the last time someone put that level of detail and effort into serving. Joe's Pasta House is becoming a favorite place of mine. The restaurant is a bit of a distance from where I live, but more and more I'm discovering that it is worth the drive. The ambiance is very nice and the food is better. During COVID, the owner gave Yelpers a cooking lesson through Zoom on making bruschetta. It is still a favorite recipe of mine. I was totally going to order it as an appetizer at Joe's. Then, it turned out that they served complimentary little bowls of bruschetta and olive oil along with fresh bread before your meal. Very nice and a great way to start the meal. I had checked out the menu before going and decided to order the Pinon Pesto Salmon which was served on top of angel hair pasta with pine nut pesto sauce. I quite enjoyed it. One person in our party ordered from the Senior menu for ages 60 and over. He had the lasagne and really liked it too. Included in the price of the dishes on the senior menu were a salad and iced tea or coffee. Since the side salads with other meals cost $3.95, the senior menu was a very good bargain. One more thing to add is that the server was nice and attentive. The only thing I would change would be having the restaurant stay open a little longer. When we went, we didn't realize that they close at 7pm on Sundays. We waited about 10 minutes for a table and were seated close to 6:30. They didn't rush us but as we were the last table to finish, we rushed ourselves. Lastly, just a personal preference...I like the bruschetta on toasted bread so next time I'm there I'll probably order a side of garlic bread. read more
