But I ordered their 'jumbo' shrimp and it was a big waste of excitement and money: not jumbo, not a lot of them and not filling at all. Great date location or good for a nicer family dinner. Although this place is awesome for drinks, the food is average. But the atmosphere is where the restaurant shines. Summertime and fall are the best times to go and enjoy a relaxing dinner. My mother and I arrived without a reservation. It was 3:35, I was told to come back at 4:30 because they weren't taking walk ins until that time. I walked outside, made a reservation for 4, waited 10 minutes and walked back in at 3:50. The same hostess asked if I had a reservation, and I said yes I walked outside and made a reservation for 4. She said, well that was probably a good idea and we were seated immediately. The bar was empty only the booths had people at them and the entire center section was empty and I have no idea how having a reservation at an empty restaurant makes sense. We ordered food, the chili dog and the BBQ sandwich. Regular fries and truffle fries. Our food was lukewarm. We didn't even bother sending it back as multiple other people were sending food back. The chili cheese dog literally looked like canned hormel chili with black beans added to it and queso sauce poured on top. Nothing exciting for $14 even though it was Wagyu beef. The BBQ sandwich was fine, nothing amazing. I also had a margarita, it was a little sweet, but not awful. I didn't want a second one. The sweet tea that my mother ordered wasn't sweet. Our server was great, very sweet and attentive. The sweeping going on next to everyone eating was gross. There were more bus boys than servers and the servers were also helping out with seating which made no sense when there was a hostess. Needless to say we won't be back for over priced food that's mediocre and not served hot. read more

Craft 31 is our favorite neighborhood spot to sit at the bar, have a beer, share a pizza and salad, rinse and repeat. Some nights it's a burger and salad, or the Monte Cristo special. In Williamsburg it's tough to find a spot that's a step above a deli, but not Fat Canary. We head here for lunch, happy hour, dinner with the family and dinner with the two of us. Craft 31 offers tasty food, a great selection of beers on tap and friendly bartenders. The only disappointments have come when we have decided to sit at a table instead of the bar. Two out of three times we have been let down by the service, which was slow and not particularly friendly, once it was stellar. They have a large bar area, but are still family friendly. The bar area is both inside and outside and they have a large enclosed patio area that sometimes features live music. The pizza is always, predictably delicious, so we order that pretty regularly, several different kinds. I adore the green goddess dressing, their "Crunch" salad isn't that great, but that dressing makes it amazing. read more

I moved to Williamsburg several months ago and have been in this restaurant once or twice a month. It's very close to where I live and I like the ambience because of the outdoor seating section. However, i've never had a particularly good experience there. The host/hostess team is completely unfriendly and uninterested, the waitstaff is usually slow, overwhelmed, and doesn't know their menu well, and if you don't know the bartenders personally your way to long time for drinks while they tend to the people they do know personally... Even if you were there first waiting with your money out. This week I had family in town and took them there for dinner. As usual, the hostess was borderline rude and sat us at a table where we waited 20 minutes with no service. I finally went to the hostess stand to let them know we had not gotten a server. The manager came to the table to apologize and take our drink order and set a server would be right with us. The manager was back with the drinks and still no server had come. The manager said the server would be right over, five minutes later a server finally came... We were at the restaurant for 30 minutes at that point. The rest of the dinner was average and the food was fine. However, this example is no longer an outlier to me, it's a trend. I will no longer go to this establishment and would not recommend it to anyone. There are other places you can go in town that have a comparable beer selection and much better service. read more

This was Hands down the Best Burger I've had in town. I surfed through tons of spots to take my girlfriend to eat and I'm glad I chose this one. First off the atmosphere and the design is beautiful, I figured since it served beers burgers and pizza it wouldn't be fancy but I was wrong. Very upscale and classic music playing in the Room. I ordered the diner burger with a ceaser salad Which was great in itself and my girlfriend order her own made pizza, we also got the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Shaketail Which was delicious. The burger was amazing, perfectly cooked and great taste My girl loved her pizza, overall an amazing experience. And At the end of the night it didn't hurt as much especially with all we ordered. Food was excellent! Ate out on the patio, which was nice. Not sure what happened but there was a huge delay (around 45 minutes) between our appetizers and main course. Waitress apologized for the delay, and there were two other groups on the patio that were experiencing the same issue. Only complaint was that they closed the patio doors while we were waiting on our food and turned off the fan. I understand they were closing, but the if the kitchen was backed up, they should have waited. Made us feel like we needed to hurry and get out once we were finally served. The quality of food was excellent as was our waitress. Will return next time we are in the area. read more

Craft 31 didn't wow me but everything was on par. Service, food, look and feel inside. We didn't have a reservation so we were told we could not sit in a booth. We sat in the middle of the restaurant. All the other patrons were seated in booths. Another family came in 15 min later and were about to be seated at a table like us but the gentleman said a few things and was then moved to a booth. Maybe I needed to fuss a little more. But I didn't want that to sour the entire experience. Our server was very nice and made sure we had what we needed and made suggestions. They sell Bottoms up pizza, same as in Richmond. Same owner I was told. We each had a drink with our meal and that was good. I had the jambalaya. They use colossal shrimp, chicken and andouille sausage. It was very tasty. One the best I've had. They split the place up front bar area and then a dining area. That's nice In giving you an option to what you're looking for in a dining experience. Will give them another shot. I think the first interaction from the lady seating us could have been better on her part as that's the first impression. Being in Williamsburg and a heavy tourist place - asking if it's your first visit, out of town etc would be a great ice breaker versus just grabbing two menus walking off and then the first interaction being you can't sit here or there and it's pretty empty. We have been coming here since moving to Williamsburg from northern Virginia 7 years ago. We bring our guests here because it's a reliable nice environment and menu. We actually came here for our wedding anniversary on a beautiful October afternoon for lunch. We were comfortable sitting on the outside porch. One of the only times we had been to a restaurant during the pandemic. We are in our late 70's and early 80's. Today's visit was a real disappointment. We arrived exactly at 5p. Although there were open tables for 4 (we were 2) we were told there was nothing available except the bar. Our first choice was by the kitchen door. Now we are in the hallway once I refused the kitchen table. The hostess had NO skills. I know it is really difficult finding good employees right now. This is one of THE BEST relaxed restaurants in Williamsburg. They are now ACCEPTING RESERVATIONS. That wasn't the case before COVID. Craft 31 did us right for our intimate wedding reception. My guests were all raving about the experience! I couldn't have chosen a better restaurant. The organization and communication was outstanding. Jessica, the private event coordinator, was incredibly easy to get a hold of, whether it be email or phone, since her position is fully dedicated to private events. Other restaurants in Williamsburg had no such person, and I got annoyed rather quickly at coordinating a time to even get on the phone with a manager. With Jessica, no request went denied, and she made sure that the experience was as stress-free as possible. Instead of a limited menu, I decided on a buffet-style dinner. I had so much fun picking whatever I wanted from the main menu to be pre-made for the reception. I picked tons of appetizers, some pizzas, deep-fried Oreos, and a build-your-own burger bar! This set-up made our reception care-free, so that everyone could walk around and there was no fixed seating. The venue was the coolest part! I planned the entire reception without visiting Craft 31, and arrived pleasantly surprised! We did not need to decorate a thing. The staff set up the buffet tables with rustic burlap and mint-colored fabric. Heated patio, a fireplace, TVs on the wall, bathrooms located on the patio, cute mason jars on the tables with candles inside. The restaurant itself has lots of fun interior decorations. The wait staff was incredibly attentive! They constantly ran in and out with our drink orders and they were busing tables so nothing was left dirty. According to my guests, the food was great! Unfortunately, being the bride, I spent too much time talking to guests and not enough time enjoying the food. Many of the guest, including the groom and myself, arrived later than 6pm, and the general manager allowed for our event to run longer than 9pm, which was so accommodating and kind. I've been looking forward to coming here since the Grand Opening at the beginning of the summer. The place is beautiful on the inside, not what I expected from a "beer and burger" joint. After viewing the menu, I was pleasantly surprised to find oysters, Bottoms up Pizza, wings, burgers and much more.
