I loved this place! So refreshing to find a decent place in Augusta, with nice ambience and good service. The food is small plates only, so unless you want pizza, there is not much in way of regular portion. The meat and cheese tray is a must and so is the roasted olives. One warning on the pizza, the meaty is very salty because they use dried meats and not actual regular pizza toppings. We had to send ours back because it was not edible. They made up for it by giving us a feee dessert and taking the pizza off the bill. Overall great place to hang and snack with drinks. A little on the pricey side for drinks. read more

Went there last night around 10:30p. A lot of people but we were still sat right away. Decor and atmosphere makes the place feel both fancy and relaxed. We didn't look out of place dressed up, but neither did the people in shorts and tanks. Waitress Carly was fantastic- great service, even the brief encounter with the hostess, friendly workers, super nice restrooms (hand towels vs paper). A group of eleven of us came last night for dinner around 8 and since they don't take reservations, we knew we would be waiting a while. What ended up happening was we just took over the entire seating/waiting area and ordered drinks/foods at the mini tables. I ordered the Down South drink (she described it as a gin mojito) and it was fantastic and I would gladly order again. I also got the pickled peppadew peppers which were surprisingly good and the warmed Brussels sprouts salad, which was my favorite part of the dinner. I used to really liked Craft and Vine. I remember when I started coming and it was P A C K E D---you could barely get into the door, but sadly that is now the thing of the past. What is good: the food is always good, the drinks are always good, the staff is always friendly. I used to think this place was worth 4 stars for an Augusta Tapas Bar. So, why am I only giving 3-stars? Well...... Craft and Vine used to be one of the only establishments in Augusta that offered a creative trendy environment that appealed to young professionals. Craft and Vine spent the time on their décor and made smart business decisions to create a hip lounge ambience. With that, they used to require a dress code---nothing ridiculous: no t-shirts, no hats, no athletic gear, etc. Their requests were totally reasonable to ensure that a certain level of appropriateness was maintained to create a positive experience for everyone. When they had the dress code, it was always bumping with nicely dressed people, both men and women, people were socializing and overall having a good time. And then they removed the dress code. Now, people come to Craft and Vine to hang out and get trashed. I was in there last night, a small party (a group of five people) were taking shots and screaming "SUCK MY DICK!" Another group was so drunk that they were moving their bar chairs out into the middle of the restaurant for no reason whatsoever because they were so drunk. A random guy kept bumping into my husband because he kept meandering around and falling over his feet. What is going on? I understand that American dress sense has gotten steadily more informal. Everyone in Craft and Vine last night was wearing a golf shirt, tank tops, flip-flops, and shorts. And the ambiance reflected that of a Buffalo Wild Wings on game night. That's not why I come to Craft and Vine. I am not sure why the owners chose the decision to remove the dress code. Maybe it is because they can't afford to turn away the business? While Craft and Vine's food itself isn't necessarily casual, more artistic than anything, maybe they want the ambiance more relaxed? However, I would counter to the owners, "How is asking people to wear collard shirts for men and equivalent dress for women make you a stiff?" Remember when you used to have your dress code and the waiting list for a table was an hour? Now, you can walk in and get a table---many tables, any kind of table you want actually. People tend to behave a little better when they are dressed a little nicer (and of course there are always exceptions). This probably explains why your establishment is slowly turning into a ghost town. It's very sad. read more

After hearing so much about this place, my actual experience was definitely a letdown. I felt like a kid unwrapping a broken toy on Christmas morning... Let's start with the good: the pretzel bites are absolutely delicious and the pizza is definitely passable. The drinks we ordered weren't too bad either but I don't think they were anything to write home about. Now for the bad: the stuffed peppers are absolutely disgusting. The only comparison I have for the taste is vomit...they were that bad. I think the server picked up on that too after we only ate like one of the eight in the dish but she didn't bother asking about it. The food runner also managed to drop one of our entrees on the table, getting a bit of it on my friend's purse...again no acknowledgement of the fact that they messed up. We got a fresh one but there was definitely an awkward gap without food. For a place that ends up charging nearly $30 a head, I expect better. Overall, this place will do ok because this is Augusta and the vibe they've created here is pretty unique for the area. But for me, this is just another disappointment in the local restaurant scene. Craft and Vine is a spectacular new addition to the downtown Augusta restaurant line up. The owner is the same person responsible for opening Frog Hollow and Farmhaus and it is evident he knows what he is doing. All three of his places are wonderful and unique. Craft and Vine is beautiful. From the entry to the back of the building, it is aesthetically pleasing. There is not another place in Augusta with the same feel. The drinks menu is superb. They have a great selection of wine, cocktails and craft beer. The wine can be ordered by the taste, half pour or full pour. We also found out they can sell bottles of wine to take home. That is great when you get a taste of a new wine and like it. I was thrilled to see a South African Pinotage on the wine menu and I ordered a glass. I don't know of another place in town with a Pinotage on the menu. The server said they were going to probably remove it because not many people were ordering it. Too bad. We started off with an order of the pretzels with beer cheese. The pretzel bites were great but the beer cheese was outstanding. We also ordered the special veggie pizza of the night. I am a huge fan of wood fired pizza and Craft and Vine serves excellent pies! The service was excellent. Our server was able to help my wife with a cocktail selection based on her preferences. Having come from another restaurant in town, I didn't have an appetite. The menu was very tempting. I'll plan to dine soon. The atmosphere is nice and upscale. The decor is from the 1920s era. I was mostly impressed with a restaurant of its caliber being open past 11pm in Augusta. The bartender was very nice and whipped my up a drink that I hadn't tried before. I dinned here a couple weeks ago for a happy hour outing with friends. We tried to go the previous week around 9pm and they were at capacity. So this time we made sure we could try it out. We started with drinks while waiting to be seated. The Penicillin was excellent! The piece of ginger on a stick was a delicious touch. The waiting area was dim and cozy. I loved the list of rules on the wall that includes not talking on your cell phone inside. We ordered a few appetizers and pizzas to share. The peppers stuffed with goat cheese were great. They gave us an even number so the sharing worked out perfectly. We also tried the duck confit pizza. Pretty interesting, but good flavor. We had the pretzel bites with beer cheese as well, none of us were fans, but we ate it anyways. They kind of tasted like popcorn. We also had the margarita pizza. Nothing to call home about but it tasted pretty good. I would have liked a bit more cheese on both pizzas. All in all, I enjoyed the restaurant and I will be back many times in the future for the drinks, but probably not the food. Nice swanky upscale place downtown Augusta. The inside has a romantic /1920s/prohibition with a modern look to it. The wine selection is vast and the servers are very knowledgable. If you are an adventurous eater this is the place for you. I ordered "the different" which is duck confit ,Brussel sprouts , caramelized onions and fresh mozzarella on a pizza. It was very tasty and the pizza crust was crisp. The place makes you feel like you are not in Augusta . There isn't a place like it in town. We've been here a couple of times. They have a good selection of cheeses and switch it up often. They servers are well informed and very courteous. This restaurant is professionally run and it shows. I love wood fired pizzas. My BF prefers the thicker, basic pizza... (Boooo). We have had the deviled eggs and they never disappoint. I have been here numerous times since this place opened. As a downtown resident, places like this are exactly what Augusta's downtown needs. First the ambience - a prohibition style bar that feels fresh and modern. The servers are dressed appropriately to match, with an impressively styled liquor and wine collection behind the bar and bartenders carefully making each drink. The quality and though put into the design feels more like a place you would stumble into in a larger city like Dallas or Atlanta, and is a fresh breath of air for Augusta. Next are the drinks. You can tell someone put an excessive amount of time into this menu. The cocktail list is diverse and interesting, with throwbacks to the classic liquor forward drinks and some with modern day twists that will challenge your palate. The wines (I have only sampled the reds) are extremely well chosen and I have to give my hats off to the sommelier as I have never had one I have been disappointed with there. The markup is extremely low for the quality of bottle, meaning your money goes a long way when getting some very nice wines. Additionally, they have a vacuum sealed wine system that allows them to serve even their nicest bottles by the glass or even a 1 oz pour - ever feel like sipping on some Opus One or Caymus without dropping for a full bottle? Then there's the food. A diverse array of meats and cheeses, tapas style veggies, meats and pizzas. Again, clearly a lot of thought went into these dishes - you aren't going to find anything like them at your "standard" Augusta restaurants. Their menus is constantly changing and never fails to impress, with the various items ranging from interesting to utterly delicious. I could have given recommendations prior but their menus just changed and so many of the current dishes are new to me. Finally there is the staff. They are friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful in navigating the menu. This is obviously to be expected at any quality place, but it is nice to see it routinely done. Places like craft and vine excite me about the re-vitalization of downtown Augusta as I have watched it grow over the past few years, and I'll be sad to be leaving one of my favorite restaurants here. The waiter was very attentive and nice. He offered us all of the specials and explained each of them. It was the 2 year anniversary of this establishment. Tonight was our first night to this upscale tapas restaurant and bar. Upon entering your struck by the hip ambiance - kind of a California vibe in downtown Augusta. I had the Sierra Nevada and my wife had a cocktail. We devoured the pretzels and cheese. Just the right portions for two people to enjoy. Not long after that our Turkish pizza arrived. Woodfield cooked, thin crust with black olives and cheese. Not greasy like a thin pizza saturates the crust. Our bill was reasonable for two people about $30. Definitely plan to return. I like the dress code of nice shirt and slacks for men. A place where I don't have to see arm pit hair in cut off shirts, backward ball caps and flipflops. I finally made it here last night and I'm so glad I did. I had an awesome experience. I sat at the bar, figuring I'd just stop in for a cocktail and maybe a light noshing. Susan (one of the bartenders) was phenomenal; watching her make all the drinks she did, while also chatting me up makes you understand the "Craft" in "Craft & Vine". Speaking of the staff...as someone who likes to dress up on occasion, I appreciated the button-down vests and the suspenders that the staff wore- it really added to the ambiance that C&V seems to be creating. As far as the offerings go, the drinks were interesting. I had a Baby's First Bourbon, which had orgeat in it (so if you like almonds, you're in luck). My second drink, the Raul Bunyan, was appropriately described by Susan as a "tequila Manhattan". I let her do Dealer's Choice for my last drink and ended up with the Great Gazoo- an absinthe cocktail that was refreshing without being overpowering. For food, I had the carpaccio (which was yummy) and a new dish- CAB sirloin. Oh man! Every bite was more delicious than the one before it. Think of the tapas dish "batatas bravas"...and then top it with delicious, med-rare steak. Lastly, the decor...I like that it went for the speakeasy look and I think they pulled it off without the pretention you might find at a similarly-themed establishment in, say, Brooklyn. The old-timey light fixtures, the pressed metal ceiling, the rolling ladder behind the bar, the open kitchen... All of it worked for me. And, as a small side note, I like when a place has a better-than-standard restroom, which C&V had. And sure, you are only in the restroom for 3% of the your visit, but...it's a nice touch. Overall, my experience has left me looking forward to the next time I get to go downtown, because Craft & Vine will definitely be on my short list of places to visit. read more

This place is an ideal spot for sheer enjoyment of the culinary scene. The ambient feel that you experience when you first step inside is very close to a speakeasy of the 1920's. It is pleasant and busy, but in a good way. As well it is wise to make reservations before you make plans to visit. The wait usually goes for about ten to fifteen minutes... well worth the wait. The food is good, darn good. Local ingredients with a high end feel. Very rustic and solid. These dishes are proper to the type of people who live in the south. Everything is familiar in taste. Tapas usually pull you in a direction that is either seafood and or gourmet, but this food is grounded in southern tradition. It's so good. Another great section of this restaurant is the alcohol. This really deserves its own review. The wine, beer and liquor menu is huge! The craft beers are very different and good, the wine is as well amazing; the absinth is stellar in its own right. To top everything off the staff and the owners are the best I've ever met. All in all, eat here if you want tapas with a southern flare. read more

While the food can't quite exceed the quality of its sister restaurant - Frog Hollow...it is excellent food - and although you are ordering tapas...you don't have to worry about leaving hungry - all of the selections are very rich. The true value of this spot is the ambiance, customer service, product knowledge from every staff member... And the hand crafted cocktails and wine selection. This is the only true "craft bar" in Augusta imo. And all wines are available in quarter, half, and full glass pours - a very unusual and wonderful feature of this restaurant. You cannot make reservations, and you will have to wait for a table - but there is a server dedicated to the waiting area to deliver cocktails and wine orders while you wait. read more

The first time I went with a small group of 4 and we waited for about 30 minutes, only to be seated in the waiting area without a table. We were really confused, especially when the waiter asked us if we would be ordering dinner. We didn't have a table to have dinner on! The second time I went was better. I went with 1 friend on a Wednesday night, and it was busy but not crowded. We sat at the bar..our waiter was nice and helpful, but the bartender seemed pretty cocky and awkward, but made drinks like he knew what he was doing. The atmosphere was cool and swanky, and the bathrooms are very nice. We ordered 2 small pizzas and a few drinks. The cocktails were about $11 each, which might be on-par for a freshly made drink. The waiter asked me if I wanted another drink 3 minutes after happy hour ended, which he even pointed out--"Well happy hour just ended, but do you want another drink?" Not sure why he couldn't have asked 3 minutes earlier. Our overall tab was about $70 for 2 small mediocre pizzas, but good drinks. It won't be my first choice next time. read more

For 2 people for Tapas (5 plates) and a few drinks a piece you are looking at paying over $120 with tip Overall the food is good and the place looks great. They also produce a lot of high end cocktails that are made spot on. All the plates we had were solid. I wouldn't say they were super creative but they weren't the same ole dish you come to expect either I know this will sound niggly but remember you are paying high prices so the expectations go up. Here is why I give it a loss of 2 stars. Every dish we had was salty, not inedible salty, but it made me go ohh that's saltier than I care for. Additionally the timing of the plates coming out was off. Plates seemed to migrate out in a timely manner right up to the last plate which took better than 20 minutes to come out which didn't make sense to me. That timing is important as the high stools become very uncomfortable the longer you sit in them. Additionally for such a nice place they sure like to blare the music. We were one of 2 tables in there and I couldn't speak to my wife sitting across the table because the music was blaring. I asked for it to be turned down and they did. It went from deafening to loud. I like music but this isn't a dance club its higher end dining. All in all I would come back for cocktails in a minute. I would be willing to give them another try for a meal but like I said for the prices being paid my expectations are higher and they missed the mark a bit for me. read more

Visited here the other night with some friends and I thoroughly enjoyed my time. The atmosphere was very urban and carried a vibe. We started with some share-plates. Our waitress was knowledgable about the dishes on the menu as well as the drinks. We ordered the weekly Deviled Farm Egg, the Oyster Rockefeller, Poutine, and The Margherita pizza. The drink I ordered was the Belle & Sebastian drink and it did not disappoint. Deviled eggs had a nice variance from traditional deviled eggs, with fried crumbs on top and cayenne pepper mixed in. I believe the variation for this week as a Nashville Hot Chicken inspired egg. Poutine was heavy, but very satisfying. Oyster Rockefeller was really good, and had just the right combination of fried coating and oyster. The pizza was a little cold when they brought it out, and I wasn't super impressed by it. None of the food was bad though, which is impressive. Our food also came out quickly. The cocktail was also served in a thick crystal glass which I thought was elegant and fit the style of the restaurant. The restrooms were clean and continued the theme of the restaurant. read more

This was my first visit to Craft & Vine since moving here 18 months ago and all I have to say is what was I waiting for?! This place is amazing! The steak dish was spot on. I also enjoyed their pizzas and mussels. And the cocktails! Oh my, they were wonderful! I initially wasn't sure what I wanted so I told the bartender the flavor profile I generally like and he whipped something up for which ended up being perfect! I can only speak to the meatball appetizer and drinks. They were both great. I was in Augusta for work and stopped in dolo. Its kinda cool but you can eat at the casual chairs and couches. I sat by the door, had my drink, the "Dirt Nap", and meatballs. The "Dirt Nap" is like a whiskey sour with a hint of herbs. The meatballs you could tell had two maybe three meats and were cooked in a rich slow cooking sauce. These meatballs were more sweddish meatball/slash stroganof saucy. It was well made and had great flavor (not watered down, too much cherry/orange, etc). We ordered a charcuterie board - reasonably priced, and good selection of meat and cheese.
