I've been a customer since they opened but I'm starting to realize that a lot of the craft beer is expired or near expiration, ipa's are best consumed fresh and these beers have turned lots of yeasty by product which definitely changes the flavor of the beer. First visit was great no issues young light skin guy helped me pick some brews took home about 8 four packs eveything was smooth came yesterday bought a $4 peaches can a $9 double dank can and was EXTREMELY OVERCHARGED for the best buds my total came out to $49 and some change wasn't suspicious till I went home and realized the tall dark skin gentlemen with the oversized Adam's apple he charged me $33 I called to discuss the situation and was hung up on 3 times in a row I visited the other location and had a 5 star experience the other location way nicer cleaner and more beer definitely will not be returning to El Monte read more

my order was shorted an item that I was charged for. I emailed 3 different times and no response still after over 24hrs.. called and was told by the person answering that he couldn't help me with that, but someone would call me back.. no call back... would not recommend this app or these people to anyone... poor customer service.... and obviously theft since they took payment and didn't deliver product so its too bad it took a review like this to get this taken care of, but I will say after the review they did refund the price of the can that was shorted. read more

Wanted to try something new and they gave a great recommendation. Great beer with great people... and it gets better! The have a row of their fridges labeled. I went on a beer run for my family, as we were having a family gathering. I do not know the El Monte area too well, so i decided to yelp a place that would sell beers. I am so happy that I decided to yelp this because I would have never thought of coming to this market. It is in a small location that looks like a mini-mart.. Their selection of beer is amazing. I wish I had more time to browse around, but my bf and i had to get back to the gathering so that my family would have their beers. I want to see if they have a selection of hard cider, which are one of my favorites. :) oh, and the cashiers (not sure if they were the owners), were amazingly friendly and generous. Plaza market is an unassuming little convenience store, that looks like any other you might find in every suburban neighborhood. Even the large sign proclaiming "BEER" wouldn't tip you off to the fact that there's more on offer here than the marco-brewed weak, yellow beer. What you find inside, though, is one of the finest selections of craft beers in the San Gabriel Valley. On top of that, they have a friendly, knowledgeable staff and reasonable prices. Here's a tip: "Like" them on Facebook. They post their specials here. When they get a limited supply of hard-to-get, one-per-customer brews, like Stone Enjoy By or Bootlegger's Knuckle Sandwich, this is how they let you know. Drop everything and head over. read more

The selection is absolutely amazing at this place! You wouldn't think the experience would be so epic as you are rolling up--or first walking in for the matter--but once you get to "the back" of the market all bets are off. Row after row of craft beer, all perfectly cold, and ready to be taken home. I was especially surprised that this place is doing so well in El Monte of all places. I have come here a few times, and have taken advantage of a few of their price specials. The only reason why I didn't give it a 5 was the pricing. Some of the stuff has a huge mark-up. Sometimes too big to justify purchasing, and other times you give in because you want it but feel ripped. I don't know how they determine the pricing because some products are priced right on point,and some of their specials are really legit--but some items are marked up so much it makes you sad. LA County Fair brought me here. Well, a tasty IPA that I had at the fair, and when I got home looked at the brewery website, they said this place carried their goods, checked YELP, saw the reviews and needed to stop and see for myself. WOW!!! Not only did they have my new found libation in bombers, but also six-packs (went with 5 bombers.) The selection of regional and import craft beer offerings is amazing with some newly found favorites mixed in. The young guy helping on the floor was very enthused about what they stocked and offered some advice on a few items they had on sale and available that weren't in the main chiller. He also offered a cart to hold my increasing choices to purchase. Prices are right in line for what they offer, and service was friendly and helpful. The cashier was a beer lover as well and we chatted briefly about his recent travels to a couple local breweries. Truly impressed and pleased upon leaving, I know I will be back. read more

Excellent selection and service. The moment I walked in, I was greeted and asked if I needed assistance. I ended up buying a new release bottle and some beer I can't find at my local bottle shop. I also picked up the new Avery Lilakoi beer just released in cans. I've tried it on draft and enjoyed it so much I bought a four pack of cans to bring home. We've been on a search for a good place in the area that has a wide selection of craft brew. I'm not talking about a Bev-Mo. We went to a couple of local spots, and while their selection was decent we weren't too excited. Our last stop to try was this place, and I'm really glad we decided to go in. From the outside you'd be certain that all they sold were Bud, Coors, and Miller. Don't be fooled. Walk in, and you'll find in the last aisle tons of craft brews in fridge. There's also some not in the fridge. Prices are great. As we went to check out we noticed a large selection behind the counter as well. The owner is really friendly, knowledgable, and excited about his products. He does his best to find the limited releases and rare brews. And if there's one you can't find, he'll try to get it for you. We ended up leaving with six different beers (1 six pack, and five large bottles) for under $30. We'll definitely be checking this one out often. read more

This place is a very interesting place to buy your craft beers at, but I have to say I am so glad to have a gem like this in our little town of El Monte! The guys who run this little store are awesome and some of the kindest, most helpful people out there! Their beer/wine selection is also very extensive. Prices here are decent as well, definitely agree with some of the other reviewers on here that their prices are competitive with BevMo. I picked up a 2015 Stone Double Bastard in the Rye and Southern Charred, as well as a Smog City tart Saison and a Belching Beaver Peanut Butter Milk Stout. All of them were very amazing beers and the total for all this goodness was a little over 50 bucks with tax, the most expensive items being the 2 Stone seasonals. They also had a lot of other cool other stuff in the store that I didn't really check out. I noticed some incense, cigars, other alcohols and what not. The place looks like any other liquor store in a really ghetto neighborhood. I parked my car and upon getting out, I was immediately hit with the strong fumes of weed lol. They have an awesome stock of beers here. For the average drinker, it is amusing. For the connoisseur, it's Heaven! When I eat gourmet burgers, there's only one beer that I ask for. The type that bearded men who like to box without gloves on would drink. The man of man's beer. The one that Papa Hemingway would drink after going hunting and finishing up a paragraph of A Farewell to Arms. Now I can't reveal which one it is cause I'm greedy. If one day I were to pick up some, and they were all out of stock, I would probably get very aggressive. VERY. But it's here. And all the goodies that you could possibly think of. "Drive to El Monte, find Craft Beer Kings, ask for Moe" Not only has the beer selection always been rotating and fresh but it's always more than fairly priced. (If you been charged/robbed in California for a $30 KBS 12oz- you know what I'm talking about) The shop always has rare finds without the excessive markup or the haggle dance. The reason this place will always be my go to- customer service. Regardless of how much you spend, which beers you've had, who's name you drop you get the same excellent service. i used to live in Glendale and moved over to El Monte and i was worried i would not find the selection of beer im used to . I really thought damn im going to be like half the hispanics in the hood drinking bud light i was very sad. Then one day my son and i were walking down the street and found a flyer and i was like this has to be close little did i know it was a block away. Wow my eyes teared up from all the craft beers and no i dont F mean shock top yuuck! i'm a huge hop head they carry Drakes, Stone , Ballist Point my personal Fav, Avery ,Victory , keep up with me they carry exotic beers like belguim styes american imports . So yes they your usual beers but if your a huge beer advocate like i am from IPA to american strong ales and you live or are visiting the area this is your place to shop even for the ronas but i recommend the craft stuff less liquid more abv! Plaza Market has a large selection of beers from a variety of excellent breweries that is staffed by friendly and helpful people. They also have a pretty active and competitive online retail site for alcohol orders. Nevertheless, if you're in town and you're looking for beer, I ABSOLUTELY recommend that you go to Plaza Market versus BevMo or Total Wine & More (or really any other liquor or beer store). I used to drive by the place, and I wouldn't pay any mind to it, I though it was just another liquor store in El Monte (so that would make it like number 10 in that block), when I saw that they had a BBQ outside on the weekends I decided to give it a try, and see the reason why they have a big "Beer"Neon Sign on top, instead of the usual "Liquor", well, thankfully I gave it a try, and it was a great move, They have a whole refrigerated wall (Or whatever those refrigerators are called) full with different beers, on top of half the other wall with all the traditional beers (your coors, buds, coronas), plus they have a couple of more brands behind the counter, and on boxes on the isles, when I paid, and told them that I check in on Yelp, they gave me a free glass, and last time they gave me a bag of ice for the stars on Yelp, and check in on Facebook! read more

Mike and Moe are stand up guys who have love for both the beer community and anyone who is just swinging by for a pick up. The staff overall is friendly and very respectful. They greet everyone who comes in and goes out of their way to engage people in meaningful conversations. I've been to a lot of liquor stores and local beer stores, this one consistently stands out time after time.
