After plant shopping, the wife and I decide on downtown Morgan Hill for an early dinner. Thanks to many yelpers, we decided to give it a try. I'm not a fan of Vegan, but this was a pretty good place. There is a parking structure behind the restaurant so that was a good plus. As we walked in we were sat by a server as it seemed the hostess was on break. It seemed as we bothered her, but she accommodated us. We were then greeted by our server who was pleasant. She recommended the buzzard cauliflower was the appetizer. Let me tell you it was a 10 out of 10. The texture was perfect as it was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The buzzard sauce was perfect. It was a great suggestion. We had the bbq burger. Usually in a vegan or vegetarian burger, you usually never taste the beef. You usually taste everything else. I prefer beef burgers. Now the fries were very good. My wife always complains if there is something wrong with the fries. This time she had compliments. They have 17 craft beers, but I had iced tea. When they ran out of regular ice tea, they gave me the special iced tea. It was delicious. Would I return? Sure, but not my priority. Should you go? Yes!!!! read more

This is our favorite spot. We are literally here almost every Friday night. Creatures of habit especially because it's our fav spot. My husband is lactose intolerant and is always looking for a good alternative pizza. Every pizza is delicious. Our go to meal to share: Buffalo Cauliflower Bites with ranch or Chili Cheese Fries and a Pizza (Pepperoni, Sausage & Mushroom or Margarita). Plus we can't leave without 1 of each of the cupcakes (Lemon Blueberry is the best but all are good). A couple of beers or drinks for a nice end to the week. Also, everyone who works here is awesome. Great service. If you have a dog there is plenty of outside seating and the love the puppers. Definitely stop in. read more

My wife and I stumbled across this place in downtown Morgan Hill during a downtown event and it did NOT disappoint. Unaware that it was a vegan bar and grill, we took a seat at the small bar where we were greeted with a smile and menus. The bartender gave us a run down of the custom slushy libations that were available that day. Undeceive, she happily poured tasters of each for us to try. They were all so delicious , and surprisingly, the grasshopper was my favorite. I usually associate mint flavor with toothpaste, but this was good. We decided on some drinks, my wife's second of which was a cucumber cocktail that we've legitimately returned several times for. We had the hummus plate to start with, and wow, such a great flavor and serving. We also ordered olives as an app. We are (or were now) novice to the vegan scene and played it safe. We've since been back to try more tasty drinks and scrumptious food. The chili cheese fries are one of the best, and I am shocked that this recipe is meat free! We continue to be delightedly surprised by the food here. And if you're a beer drinker, they have a superb beer offering. Don't sleep on this place or let the "vegan" tag fool you. This all-vegan restaurant is a gem in Morgan Hill. The staff was super welcoming when I walked in for the first time, and was super helpful in explaining the menu. I had the Nashville Hot Chik'n Sandwich, which had a really crispy outside and meaty inside. The sandwich was delicious, though I wish it had more of the buffalo sauce flavor. As a side, I had the chili cheese fries, which were loaded with beans and vegan meat. The flavor was good and I was happy to be able to have vegan chili cheese fries at all, since this dish isn't offered in many places. I liked this place so much that I came back the next week and got the Mamu the Greek burger, which was super unique and also delicious. read more

A few colleagues and I went for drinks after work on a Tuesday. The bartender and his drinks were excellent and so was the food. I had the quesadilla made with impossible ground beef. It was a super hot day and sitting right under the a/c vent with good company made it much more bearable. I will probably be back for more drinks and to try the lion's mane asada tacos. read more

My husband grew up in Morgan Hill in the 70's. So many things have changed over the years. A few weeks ago, we visited Morgan Hill to go to his 50-year High School Reunion. We were revisiting his childhood, as we walked the downtown streets, remembering old places that have stood before. Sometimes people want to live in the past but visiting Great Roots claimed the present. We enjoyed the Watermelon Gazpacho Soup. I wish there was a better word than delicious. Because this soup is better than that, it incredible. It was so refreshing and so many flavors waking up your mouth. Truly delightful. I had also the Chopped Lion Mane Salad. A salad, that again has your taste buds dancing. It was so good. My hubby had the baked mac n cheese. He said, "it had great flavor." Our server was excellent, and service was quick. Never had I ever had vegan food that taste this good. Tbh, I'm still thinking about those buffalo bites. My fiancé kept telling me, you need to write a review so people know how good this place is! So here I am, sharing my notes with you guys. So last Friday my friend made reservations to dine here at 7pm but I wasn't really craving burgers so we ended up going somewhere down the block for food and drinks. The drinks and appetizers were so terrible at the other restaurant that we ended up skipping our entrees and head back here. There was a 40 minute wait so we ended up grabbing some drinks at the bar inside. I really wanted something fruity so the bartender (whom by the way was super awesome) was nice enough to let us sample a few drinks. The coconut slushee was tasty but I wanted something else. The bartender told me he has a new lychee drink that is not on the menu yet and I can be the first customer to try it. I had my fair share of lychee martinis but this was by far one of my favorite. It was packed with lychee flavor, hints of citrus and totally refreshing. PLEASE keep this on your menu. My drink was so good I didn't bother tasting my friends. Luckily by the time we got our drinks the wait was only 10 minutes. After looking at the menu, one of my friend turned to me and was like, you picked a vegan place? Honestly, I didn't know it was vegan. When I looked on Yelp, I saw pretty drinks and that was my deciding factor. So after looking at the menu, here is what we ordered to share between the four of us. * CR burger + regular fries: 5/5 solid burger, love the cheese * Western bbq burger + sweet potatoes fries: 4/5 we were not a fan of the vegan bacon but those sweet potato fries are perfectly fried * Chipotle mushroom burger + chili cheese fries: 5/5 I wished there were more chipotle flavor but I enjoyed the meaty mushrooms. The chili cheese fries, SOLID! I would 100% return back to Craft Roots just for the chili cheese fries. I love that the beans are mushy and the flavor is just on point. * Sausage mushroom pizza: 5/5 yummy! * Cauliflower Buffalo bites: 5/5 OMG! These are sooooo good! I wished we ordered more! Honestly, there are no complaints whatsoever about this place. Service was fast and great! We left with our bellies full and happy. This used to be my favorite vegan place with seasonal and local flavors..i used to travel from San Jose and also took many of my friends. I specially loved their special pizza, they were so creative and thoughtful in their menu, they had a custom sauce pizza loaded with seasonal veggies so fresh and so hearty...the warm bowl also used to be amazing. However over the last one year the restaurant removed all the seasonal veggies items from the menu. Their Dose pizza is the worst pizza i ever had, the gluten free crust was weird and it was loaded with tomato sauce and half cooked tasteless veggies and lots of cheese. I would rather prefer eating at Dominos. I seriously want them to bring back the good stuff looks like to optimized cost they have compromised rhe quality and lost innovation. read more

First time here we tried the Buffalo Cauliflower, the Chipotle Mushroom Sandwich and the Daily Rotating Harvest Plate which is influenced and inspired by seasonal ingredients. I have to say, everything was delicious. The buffalo cauliflower was the perfect mix of crunch, and sauce, the sandwich was so so tasty too, which comes with some irresistibly crispy and flavorful garlic fries. The harvest plate was phenomenal too, I really really enjoyed the broccolini and pickled onions. Service was great too, and the staff was super helpful and friendly. The vibe is laid back, right off the Main Street downtown. I am eager to comeback and try their wood-fired pizza! Note: the entire menu is plant based! Love this place!!!!  This is probably the most hip place in town.  I'm vegan and went here with a group of non-vegans, and we all were absolutely loving the food.  We shared most of it, as we wanted to try various dishes.  We had the Cornflake-fried King Oyster Mushroom Sandwich, which was made with a fresh Remoulade and crispy fried mushroom pieces - delish!  The chili cheese fries were made to perfection. So was the Mac and cheese!  That dish was made with facon (fake bacon) and was super creamy and tasty.  Also the buffalo cauliflower dish was to die for! It's gluten free and vegan and the crust was nice and crispy and tasty and the ranch sauce to dip it in was prob the best I ever had. Drink choices are plenty! You can chose from a long list of local brews and wines, and also have a great selection of Kombucha (the lemongrass ginger one is great) and several CBD infused drinks and waters. We also met the owner, Jay, who opened this place together with the gifted chef. They have a vision they are bringing to life in this place that will have vegans and non-vegans alike flock to this restaurant and enjoy their plant-based, locally sourced, artesian food and brews in a warm welcoming atmosphere. Phenomenal vegan spot with friendly service. Dog friendly patio has lots of space as the inside fills up quickly. Their lion's mane mushroom sandwiches taste just like a chicken sandwich. Beautifully cooked and seasoned and served with a fresh side salad or fries. Numerous drinks on the menu including a fantastic "green" mock tail made with cucumber and mint. I need ten MORE stars to properly rate this wonderful restaurant. Seriously - come one, come all, no matter your usual dietary preferences - this place is fantastic. I have always loved the food, but this review is a special recognition for the amazing assistance they provided to me this past weekend. I was getting married (yay!) at my parent's house and learned we would have vegans in attendance - but our contracted catering could not accommodate. I panicked. It was literally Saturday afternoon and the ceremony was Sunday at 11:30. I called the restaurant to ask if it would be possible to secure some "unassembled" items for assembly at the wedding the next day, but they handed me over to Jay and Jay said he grew up in Morgan Hill, knew the boonies (where my parents are located), and would come with hot and ready food for our wonderful vegan guests at exactly the right time. I kid you not, we finish the ceremony and I walk back down the aisle and at the top of the stairs is my hilariously chill and unassuming savior. He has a bag full of amazing, delicious food and he literally tried to talk us out of paying him extra for his incredible act of heroism. (Don't worry, I didn't let him.) I nearly cried with happiness. Can you put a price on fixing a last minute disaster on your wedding day? This man is a hero! Anyway, to top it all off, our vegan guests were blown away by how delicious the food was. The CR Burgers, fries, and salad were all flippin' fantastic. Guests stuck with our other catering were openly jealous. I spread the word at the wedding, I shouted them out in our thank you speech - check out Craft Roots. Tip extra. I had their hummus wrap today, this may be the best wrap I've ever had? It was incredibly tasty. I dont eat meat, and when I had my first bite of the wrap, i had a moment where I thought, uh oh they gave me a wrap with meat sausage before I remembered the whole restraunt is vegan. IT WAS SO GOOD! I'm a huge fan. I would send anyone to go eat here, even if they are apprehensive about going to a vegan restraunt. It was ok but we won't return. It seems like it's mostly a bar with some tables. The alcohol menus is many pages long but no diet soft drinks to be found. The food menu is one page total and not a lot of variety. Sadly, the service was subpar also-the server was just not friendly and hardly said a word to us and refill of waters took till the end of the meal. The buffalo cauliflower was quite spicy and doused in sauce and not great. The other items were ok but given the pricing, it was not worth it at all. Bummer! read more

Stopped in for a quick lunch and it was great. The Buffalo cauliflower was nice and crispy! Two of us got the fall salad which was delicious, always love some delicata squash. The other member got the bbq sandwich - which I nabbed a bit of and was equally delicious. The surprisingly good standout was the garlic fries - very garlicky and fried so they were crispy but not soggy from garlic. Really wide selection of drinks and cocktails. Would definitely want to come back to try some of the cocktails and the pizza, it looked pretty good. And some good non alcoholic options as well. Some nice outdoor seating out front and in the side. We sat on the picnic tables on the side and it was shady so keep that in mind (depending on weather might need a jacket). I was looking for veg-friendly spot near Morgan Hill. To my surprise, I found Craft Roots, completely vegan place with raving reviews, so decided to give this a try. It's located on the main street in Morgan Hill. Finding parking was easy. During covid times, they have opened for outdoor seating and have enough spots. There were open tables, so we were seated immediately. We ordered their special roasted celery soup and artichoke pizza. I'm not a big fan of celery in general, but loved their soup. It was thick, creamy, roasted celery tasted great. The pizza was freshly made and thin and tasted delicious. They have plenty of options for on tap or bottle beer, cocktails, appetizers, and main course. Very friendly servers. Quick service, good portion size. I would highly recommend it and would surely go back. read more
