Very nice addition to the San Marcos drinking scene, but the food was just so-so. I ordered the "monster" Gouda grilled cheese for lunch. There really wasn't anything "monster" about it. It was like a grilled cheese I could make at home. However I loved the selection of cocktails and beers and the prices are reasonable. read more

Service was slow and not attentive. I ordered an appetizer that did not come until after the food was served. There was an apology but at that point I should have just sent it back because everyone was already eating. I ordered the Chicken Club but it didn't come with the mayo and had to wait too long to track down the waiter so we had to go find him. 2 out of 3 of the leafy vegetables in the salad bar were out as were at least 2 of the other vegetables. I've been twice: the first was absolutely amazing and deserved better than 5 stars. The second time was absolutely horrible. We were ignored for the first 30 minutes. Ordered the same meal (pulled pork grilled cheese) and it had literally one shred of pulled pork... Then I had to eat mashed potatoes with my hands since I didn't receive silverware the first hour I was there. We were there 3 hours from seating to check, because the service was so terrible. It's not the waiters' fault, so much as management under dragging the restaurant. It's either an absolute, mouth watering hit or a "never want to even consider this place again" kind of miss. read more

This is probably the worst place to go to service wise. Our sever only came up to us one time the whole time we were there while other servers brought us our food and tickets. Making a reservation has been a complete and utter nightmare. Apparently, the general managers (Sean Mill and Katy Joe) are in charge of reservations. Which would be fine, however, I was given one number, Sean Mills, which is disconnected. Then, after calling back to get a working number the other general manager does not answer and then ignores my second call. Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, I finally get ahold of the general manager, Katy Joe, by calling CRAFThouse again. She then tells me that she can not book my reservation (as I waited 5 mins for her to make it to the phone) because she is busy and will call me back in a few HOURS. Note that I have called six times by this time trying to get something as simple as a reservation. I also spoke with Amanda, whom gave me Katy Joe's information. Terrible professionalism. read more

I want to love this place because the atmosphere is so so cool, has live music that supports the college crowd, but the food sucks, the beer is flat, and the liquor drinks are sub par(without mentioning there was a fly.. assuming dead.. at the BOTTOM of my jalapeño margarita... not floating the top). I understand you're appealing to the college crowd, but the quality/flavor could be MUCH better all around. First time here this week. The place itself is nice. Bartenders were nice but did take a long time to get service when it wasn't busy. We ordered crab balls for a starter. I was really disappointed. This was $9 and these were the size of marble balls. If you are going to charge this much for an appetizer then they should be golf size balls. I was amazed that we spent that much money on something that small. Seeing this didn't make me even want to touch their main menu. I love the whole feel of this place! The waitstaff was so friendly and attentive and I love the outdoor seating. I felt like I was in a different city. I went for brunch, which they have great drink specials, and had the waffles (very thin) that were full of flavor and the deviled eggs that were to die for with bacon and jalapeños... Guys I'm so sad I spent money here. The food was terrible and the service was even worse.

We came on the Friday before Easter. It was busy, they were understaffed so it took awhile before we had someone come to the table, Clear it, clean it and got our drink order. The food was marginal, beer good (seems to have a decent selection). I'll try Crafthouse again, but first experience was nothing to rave over. read more

Amazing service and awesome food. Stopped in here on our way back home to Dallas and so glad we did! The frozen screwdriver was refreshing on a warm Texas day; the brisket hash was nice and smoky; and the tuna tacos were light and yummy, not too busy or saucy. So yesterday. 0ct 4 2019. I came in to have lunch. I ordered the bobcat fries like always. Everything was fine. Till a young man barback or server I couldn't really pinpoint his job. Ran drinks TO the table with his fingers in the glasses. I have been in service industry for 17 years. I know that's a trick to buss tables but not serve. The table he took the drinks too, the woman came back to the bar and ordered new drinks because of the finger issue. The bartender gave me a nasty look, Hannah was her name. The female patron was standing next to me at the bar. The server guy. Came back and made a snide comment to her at the bar. And proceeded to grab the new shots in the server well by the top of the glass where you put your mouth. That's what a tray is for. That was completely unprofessional and gross. I don't know why anyone would have someone like these people in their employ. Thanks for reading. The only thing saving that place is the food and beer selection. Garbage service. read more

I have been going to crafthouse since I was a senior in highschool and this restaurant was one of the reasons why I decided to go to txst. Since then I have watched this restaurants customer service get worse and worse yet I still come back hoping I will have the same experience I used to have. Yesterday was the final straw for me when Tayler the server snapped my real ID because she thought I looked too young to be 21? She looked at my ID and said this looks like a freshman then snapped it... maybe because I was 17 at the time I took the picture? She had no right to snap my ID and kept saying that real ID's don't snap. Well obviously they do and if someone pushes hard enough it will. She didn't even ask for another form of identification/ask me any questions about my ID or allow me to explain how I was 21. She gave me back my broken ID then went to where her phone was and took a picture of me?? Someone needs to teach Tayler how to read real ID's because that's a huge part of her job. I will not ever come back here and I will be making sure people know that there is a chance Tayler will break your real ID if she thinks you look too young to be 21. I hope crafthouse starts hiring better severs/bartenders and makes sure they get properly trained to be one. read more

Do not waste your time or money eating at CRAFThouse. We went for lunch, it was not crowded, and our lunch (burgers!) took 30 minutes to go from kitchen to table. The food was average, the service was desultory and disinterested, and all the male servers looked like they needed to wash their face and hair and trim their beards! Totally unappetizing. Just... not good. And overpriced for being not good. The ingredients are really not high quality and they don't have a single vegetarian option on the menu, no exaggeration. Their salsa and guacamole taste premade. I would only go here for drinks. The fries are good, I'll say that. The atmosphere is nice too! We decided to check this place out today. We seated ourselves and my chair rocked back and forth so I swapped it. Our server scowled at me. She dropped the menus on the table and asked in a monotone with NO smile or personality, "Can I get you something to drink?" I had not had a chance to look at the menu so I ordered a water and my spouse asked for a lemonade. "We don't have lemonade," said Suzy Sunshine. He ordered a tea. She turned on her heel and left. This place was amazing!! The brisket Hash is absolutely fantastic-it's a must have and the BBQ sauce just makes the dish! My son had the chicken and waffles which he said were incredible. I had the apple Brie burger which was phenomenal. I added some bbq sauce from the hash and it was even better. Great service - the staff was very attentive!! read more
