Best burger my husband and I have had in a really long time! We came on a Saturday night about 2hrs before closing and the place was packed, we were able to get seated right away at a small table for two. Our server was attentive and kept drinks filled. The only downside was it took 35min to get our two burgers and fries. So we had very high expectations for the burgers after waiting so long. And they were AMAZING! There was so much flavor and juicy and cooked perfectly, well worth the wait. We will defiantly be coming back, we are ok waiting longer for food when it tastes amazing. Luv this place! Great beer selection! We came here after a day at the range. We all got something with blood orange in it and it was all great! The burgers are so good! We went here for brunch with friends and our two year old and had a great experience. Our food was very good, the service was friendly and the prices were extremely reasonable. Excellent new burger joint in Oconomowoc. We come up there all the time to visit family, and we're always looking for good places to eat. They did not disappoint. We arrived pretty early in the day so I don't think I can speak to the speed of their service - the service was prompt and friendly but when you're one of four active tables who knows if that prompt service will hold up under more normal conditions. The food was impressive. This was one of the best burgers I've ever had ... and that's saying something. I'd put their burgers up against the likes of Good Stuff Eatery in D.C. I was skeptical about putting the bacon and cheese IN the burger, but it was well done and only accented the flavors. The burger itself was perfectly cooked, and clearly made from top quality meat. Honestly have to say we love this place! The atmosphere, the staff, the food, and especially the drinks. It's an awesome place for just a date night or going with a group of people. The bacon wrapped jalapenos are to DIE for. The cheese curds although somewhat greasy are undoubtedly freshly battered and deep fried. Absolutely mouth watering. EVERY burger we've tried we've loved. The Packer The PB&B The Bacon Cheeseburger The Hangover (And all the other ones I can't remember because there so uniquely named.) On the menu after each drink and burger they have a saying or a fact. It draws you in and strikes up conversation and good vibes at the table INSTANTLY. This last time we went we noticed the burgers are significantly smaller than when they first opened but that's fine by us!!! The amount they give you for appetizers is enough to fill you up alone for a fair price and it all seems to be fresh!!!! No frozen sysco products which is a BIG plus in our book. My sweetheart ordered the manly margarita which had an awesome black salted rim and I forgot what mine was called. It was super good but his blew mine out of the water. Every drink we've had there is unique and made in a way that you don't have to buy 12 drinks and break the bank just to feel like you actually had a drink. They make them like I would at home. Enough alcohol that it's actually WORTH the money being spent. They don't skimp out! I believe one of the owners even came over and asked how everything was. He was very kind and sincere when he asked. He then proceeded to walk back to the window where the food comes up and started dancing with a different server than ours which made the atmosphere THAT much more relaxed and inviting. They have some really unique artwork up on the walls for sale from local artists which is all amazing. Not just some junk. It took a little bit for our burgers but what can you expect? There stuffed burgers and freshly pattied. We'd rather wait a few extra minutes for some of the best burgers in town and sip on our drinks than get a half frozen party that you don't know where they got it from. The ONLY downfall of this place is we don't care for the French fries but that's fine because when it comes to resturaunts you're not going to love EVERYTHING but I can handle them not having the best fries on this side of Wisconsin since everything else is superb. My friend and I went to Crafty Cow with her two kids tonight 5/22/2019. It took two hours to get our appetizer and food while people who had come in after us were getting their food before us. I asked for a Pinot Noir but got a Pinot Grigio - the server kept telling us he was 18 and didn't know anything about alcohol when we asked questions about beers. I then made my own burger with chicken, bacon, Swiss cheese and avocado. When it came out it didn't have avocado and I am pretty sure it costed 1-2 dollars extra for that avocado that I didn't even get. When we got our food we asked for additional plates for the kids but I ended up going to the bar to ask for extra plates and a knife to cut the burger after he passed us multiple times without plates. After we were finished eating I went back to the bar to get boxes and ask for the check since it seemed like it would be another two hours. I didn't complain at the time because I am the type of person who if the service is bad I just won't go back and I will make sure everyone knows how bad it was so hopefully you won't have the same experience we had. The only good part of the experience is the girl bar tending was really nice and I wish I could have just given her the tip since she helped us out the most. It wasn't even that busy!!! Nice place right in downtown Oconomowoc. Was really looking forward to a beer and burger. When I ordered my burger Medium Rare, the waitress told me they cook their burgers Medium/Medium Well for safety reasons. Granted, I should have picked something else at that point, but thought, how bad could it be...I received my Medium Well burger as advertised. What I didn't expect was just how dry a burger could be. If you like your burgers Medium Well and don't want to worry about a drop of juice getting on the bun, it seems like a nice place. read more

It was my first time stopping in Oconomowoc. My former coworkers and I stopped in for dinner, as it was a good half-way point for us. The portions were very generous, the three of us shared a small basket of fries -- which was more like a large basket more than anything. I ordered the El Jefe, which was perfectly cooked and delicious, a little messy though. I really enjoyed the various flavors for Moscow Mules, the cucumber was refreshing and delightful. The restaurant can get extremely noisy at times, but it's tolerable. Would definitely stop in again the next time I'm in town. read more

We had a pretty bad experience there tonight. It was my first visit, my husbands second. I'm only giving it a 2 because my husband said he liked it the last time he was there. But it was for lunch and there was almost no one there. Our service tonight was super slow, our waitress was rude and the food was greasy. It was busy, so I can understand why it would have been a little slow, but we were there 2 hours at our tabl, and we only order an appetizer, one entree and a kids meal. My wife and I traveled to Oconomowoc on business (from 3 states away) and looked this place up because we appreciate craft beers and special food. We arrived at 9:58pm and were seated quite nicely and promptly. Business hours are listed on yelp until midnight. However, we were told to get our order in right away because the kitchen closes at 10. We quickly choose simple meals and then was told they wouldn't be prepared because the kitchen was "yelling" at our very kind server. Sadly, we left because we needed dinner and the kitchen closed down early. It's a shame, based on menu prices we would have spent about $60 plus tip. Please amend your Yelp listing. read more

Long wait on the food over 45 min. Got the pig pen app that didn't come out right away came out with the food. It had no flavor and the dipping sauce did not help. We all had 3 different burgers they were also bland no seasoning on or in the burger. Definitely not worth the price for them. I know it just opened but it's mediocre at best. The crafty cow has a great variety of beer and also offers an enjoyable atmosphere. However, I have never had such a horrible tasting bloody mary. It's like they take a turd and wipe it inside the glass then add the mix or something. It made me gag. I've made bloody Mary's 10 times as good. It amazes me how something so simple to make can taste so bad. Also, the service was slow and they all need a tap on the ass to get them going. Burger was ok. Great beer selection. They were short staffed when we went, but the wait staff was busting their butts. I was really impressed with how dedicated they were. Our waitress forgot a couple of things, but I think this is really just a sign of being short staffed/new business. Definitely not her fault. The decor is great... and even though it was packed when we were there, I did notice that they have a very large space that seems to flow pretty well. The food was fine. That's all I can say. Our cheese curds were all either burnt, or REALLY undercooked. The fries were not very good. The burgers (packer & hangover) were OK. You could see that their kitchen staff was working just as hard as the wait staff... so I have hope for any business that works as hard as they do. I feel like they were just missing depth in their flavors. Although the craft burger/beer scene is new in Oconomowoc, it's old everywhere else. Good beer selection... and that's about it. And the beer is the only reason I gave it 2 stars. This was our second visit to the Crafty Cow and we were equally disappointed both times. It's a long, narrow very noisy bar/restaurant with very little room to stand while you're waiting the excessive time for a table. It's even more difficult to get the bartenders' attention if you're not sitting at one of the limited bar seats. After a 1.5 hour wait for a table for two after we were told 45 minutes, we made our way to our table which was located in a hallway next to the men's room. After we ordered, the food came in the expected time. It wasn't worth the wait. The French fries were more like overly salted potato chips... over cooked and very salty. The burgers sounded good on the menu... but that was about it. There were very plain, not much of anything on them. It looked like it was probably good meat. It was hard to tell because they were both cook more than well done. Very dry and tasteless. The icing on the cake was when I was paying the bill I offered feedback to the waitress on our experience. (Natalie I believe). Her comment back was "I'll mention it to the kitchen" and then she walked away. Which is exactly what we will do from the "not so Crafty Cow". read more

Most of the time we were there there were 3 waitresses just standing around. Burgers were just so-so, they aren't really stuffed more so two parties with stuff in between them. I was pretty disappointed. It was our first time there and I was really excited to try a new place in town. I hope they turn it around becuase I want them to do well because I think Oconomowoc does not have many good restaurants and has such potential. There should be comment cards out for customer to give the owner feedback so he can make some positive changes. I am from Chicago so it's hard to please someone who comes from a city with great food and service but taking constructive criticism might save this joint. I really want to see the owner succeed. I liked the idea of the craft beer and it was nice to get a sample before deciding to order a full 16 ounce. When our first glass was empty it took the bartender 10 minutes to notice that our glasses were empty and actually missing becuase the barback took them away from us to clean (money down the drain). There were 6 ppl sitting at the bar and non of us had drinks (money down the drain for the owner). We ordered burgers and a fry to share and we we recieved the burgers but there were no fries. The bartender forgot to put them in. When she put the order in she must have typed in RUSH into the computer (I know this trick becuase I used to tend bar in the past) and the fries came fast but they were the bottom of the barrel. They had a weird curry smell to them and they were burnt and definately the scraps. The people next to us ordered fries and they looked fresh and nicely cut where ours were small and scrappy. When we go back it most likely will be just for drinks because I was unsure about the oil they use if the fries had a weird curry smell. The burgers were decent but small. But the price wasn't bad so I was okay with the size (cutting back on portion control anyway). If they use hormone free that makes it even better. I like the atomosphere, I just think they might need to work through some kinks. The food took a while to come out but I am perfectly fine with that since I don't like fast food and I hate when restaurants rush you in and out. Another tip: It would be nice for the owner to say hi to his guests and make it a more personable experience. Being persoanable and out there on the floor goes a long way, especially in a small town where you are going to have regulars and these are the regulars that will be supporting your business. I went with The Abyss from Deschutes that they had on draft. 12% abv if my memory serves me correctly. Had the 1/3 lb build your own burger. Spouse had the black bean burger. Over priced is generally not a valid complaint by itself, but when combined with poor quality food it means you won't go back. Three poor tasting "sliders" for $13 with, mind you only one free topping, at Chili's they are $9, loaded and great. With a bacon cheese burger you had to hunt for maybe a half of piece of bacon, broken into bits. Really! Not even a full half slice of bacon, just bits! Our first batch of french fries, delivered several minutes after our food, bent when you picked them up on an end. The second batch was better, but not really good. BEST BURGER IN WISCONSIN! Yeah, I said it. I've lived in the greater Milwaukee area my whole life and this place is the best burgers you'll find here in WI. I've had all those famous burgers such as Major Goolsbys and AJ Bombers and beyond but nothing is quite like a Crafty Cow burger. Overall, there are so many different and unique types of cheeseburgers to be had here - the fries are great too! Also, this local place has friendly staff and good drinks. We just moved to downtown Oconomowoc and are trying all the restaurant downtown. Keep walking when you get to this place. It is all about the staff and their wants and needs. It was a beautiful evening, but the outside seating was closed. I'm assuming the staff didn't want to serve outside. All the other restaurants were serving outside. We were then told very rudely to put on a mask if we wanted to go inside. The place is dark and dingy. No one greeted us when we went inside. This was our first time in the restaurant so wandered around until we decided on where to sit. The men's restroom says it is handicap accessible, but it is not. A person who is in a wheelchair with our party would have been embarrassed if another guy walked in while he used the restroom. We moved chairs away from the table to accommodate his wheelchair and we were told very rudely that we couldn't move the chairs. The waitress changed her tune once we told we had someone in a wheelchair. I didn't want to stay, but my daughter had heard they had great burgers and beer. It took about 10 minutes for a server to come over and take our drink order. My husband ordered an $8 beer. When the server brought it, the beer was half foam and half beer. The waiter said they had finished a keg and that's all they had. The waiter did not ask if my husband wanted another type of beer. My husband then insisted that the waiter bring him a different type of beer, poured correctly. The waiter didn't explain the menu nor ask if we had any questions. We had to ask if fries and tater tots were extra and he explained they would serve 2-3 people. The burgers are ok. Best part of the meal were the cheese curds and the sweet potatoes fries. The tater tots were very disappointing. By the time we added the tip, the meal was close to $100 for a party of 4. We won't be back and we won't recommend the place. read more

First visit to Crafty Cow for a lunch meeting. I had the Packer burger. It was delicious. The bun was super soft and the burger nice and moist. The fries are a side order but a small was too big for two of us. They were crispy and very good. Beer selection is nice. Easy parking in back. I will definitely be back. read more

Burgers were absolutely amazing! Fries were crunchy and had great flavor. The bartender was super knowledgable and very hospitable. We enjoyed trying several different beers and finished with a couple craft cocktails after our meal. I can't think of anything I didn't enjoy about this experience. The decor was clean and different and the staff seemed friendly and fun. I really appreciated the emphasis on locally sourced beers, liquors, and food. Finding local beers is pretty common but I particularly appreciated the local cider, and the local spirits they used in many of their craft cocktails. Way to be trendy while keeping it as local as possible. We will be back for sure! read more

Virgin voyage to the Crafty Cow tonight. We love fun new little places and were excited to try it. Unfortunately we were quite disappointed. Everything was very disorganized (understandable because it's new) BUT no one really was doing one particular job. There were servers, managers (who were not friendly at all) bartenders cooks all wandering around behind the bar. You never really knew who was supposed to be doing what. Then the worst part! The bartender who was also waiting on us went to get our food and we watched her take a green bean out of our basket put it in her hand, drop off our food and then turn around and eat it! I'm in the industry and have been for a long time and that just crosses the line. On a positive note the burgers were good but we would never go back. read more
