Went for dinner on Wednesday to try kids night. The server was friendly and came to get our order and drinks quickly. Our food came and never got our cake pops before dinner which was the reason we came, we did end up getting the cake pops after dinner. The food was tasty and came out hot. My husband ordered dipping sauces and they rose the prices from $1 to $2 which seems a bit pricey. Overall an okay experience and will likely be back because my husband really likes the food. read more

Checking off places on my "to try" list little by little. Crafty Cow is located in downtown Oconomowoc. They are known for their burgers and have a pretty good beer list. Unfortunately the beer my husband ordered was out; this seems to happen quite frequently at places we try which is never a good way to start the experience. The menu is heavy on appetizers and burgers. If you are in the mood for something else; I would recommend going somewhere else. We started with the Philly loaded cheese curds. The topping was too heavy for the curds and the curds we could taste were super greasy. Overall a gloopy mess. Just having a burger the night before; I ordered the nachos with pulled pork. The pulled pork was delicious, but was in huge chunks and the same pump style cheese that was on the loaded cheese curds was present on the nachos which made them super heavy and the tortillas were greasy. My husband ordered the Murica burger which cooked perfectly and the sweet potato fries were pretty good. Service was super slow and once we got our bill and handed our server our card, we waited 15 minutes to get our card back. At that point I just wanted to get out of there. If I'm in the area and was craving a burger; I would maybe come back but wouldn't go out of my way to come here. read more

Passed through Oconomowoc and found this gem of an American Mexican fusion restaurant. We sat out on the patio and enjoyed their Thursday cheap date night deal, $40 for an appetizer, 2 entrees and a dessert. Definitely a great deal and plenty of food, took leftovers home. Depending on the entree you chose it might come with a side so keep that in mind. They had plenty of vegetarian options, almost everything on the menu could be substituted to accommodate. Some of the best cheese curds I've had in Wisconsin! The Canadian tuxedo burger had a fun combination of flavors, we think topped with gravy that was poured out of a cow gravy boat, super cute! The patty itself wasn't the smash burger we were hoping for. Ended with the chocolate chip cake which was delicious and very rich. Service was great out on the back patio, inside seating looked fun as well. Will have to swing through again to try the rest of the menu, maybe on Tuesday for trivia night! read more

I tried the Crafty Cow for the first time tonight for takeout, and I guess I'm pretty confused.. I ordered the Chicken Shwarma Grain Bowl for $13, which is listed to have the following ingredients: Chicken Schwarma, Marinated Slow Roasted Tomatoes, Organic Greens, Quinoa, Edamame, Green Chickpeas, Cucumber, Tahini Vinaigrette What I received was a bowl with 99% lettuce, a few nuggets of chicken and tomato, and a dash of quinoa. No cucumber, edamame, chickpeas, or cucumber. Am I missing something? This can't be right can it? I ordered sweet potato fries too and they were decent. I probably won't come back, but I'd be open to maybe trying one of their burgers. read more

Solid burgers in cute Oconomowoc. We stopped for lunch on a rainy day because of generally good reviews. They're right on the Main drag and there's lots of free parking on the street as well as large lots in the back. The interior is pleasant - lots of TV's to watch your favorite sportsball match and a large bar to enjoy something from their extensive tap list at. Beer is a thing they focus on with around 25 taps available (most/all craft). The Mister had a Tyranea Oktoberfest that he liked. If you're not into beer, there's a small wine list along with a full bar. Food wise, you're here for burgers because that's their thing. You can choose from a pre determined combo or build your own with a veggie, chicken or beef patty. Burgers are "juicy Lucy" style meaning that some cheese and maybe other stuff is stuffed into the middle before grilling. We started with frickles ($7) which was a nice amount of fried pickle chips served with ranch. The beer batter was feather light but a touch greasy for me. Still tasty though! I opted for a "classic" Lucy which is a 1/3lb burger stuffed with American cheese and topped with pickles. I also added a cheese topping ($1+) and I'd strongly advise you to do that as there really was no evidence of any cheese IN my burger. That said, it was cooked and seasoned well for sure. Note that burgers do not come with anything so my 1/3lb cheeseburger....with no fries....was $9. I know y'all in Lake Country are rich but that's still pretty spendy for a relatively plain burger. Service was pleasant but not overly attentive. I wouldn't say no to a return visit, but I wouldn't make a drive to do it. read more

Stopped by the Crafty Cow in search of some Sunday night dinner. We were seated right away and brought waters. The atmosphere inside is very pub-like (while still being family friendly) and they offer a menu with solid pub eats to match. The first thing I'll mention is the beer menu. Outstanding. Ballast Point Victory At Sea? Yes, please, and thank you. 5 stars for their carefully curated craft beer selections. I ordered a bbq chicken salad and my dining companion opted for their jalapeño popper burger (which I had a bite of). Both were a-ok, but nothing spectacular. We also shared a small order of their fries (which was ample enough for two people). The fries were exactly as I like 'em (fresh cut salty deliciousness). The service was spot on and their prices are reasonable. Get to it! read more

Visited when it first opened years ago, had an ok experience but walked away thinking it was over priced. Didn't come back until I received a gift card, so my wife and I thought we'd try it again since it's under new ownership. This was our experience, arrived about 7. Waited about a half hour but observed how short staffed it seemed. Got seated in the back, waitress was pretty prompt asking about drinks etc, ordered drinks and cheese curds. Drinks came back quick, curds came about 15 minutes later, not a big deal but they were either barely cooked or they had been sitting for a while because they were luke warm. Eh, whatever. I ordered the fish fry, all you can eat and my wife ordered the chicken tacos. We waited about 30 minutes for the food, started to seem a little long, but food arrived and she put the fish down and said- oh we are out of fish so I down graded your order. Ok, it's a Friday in Wisconsin... how does that happen? I suppose, ok not a deal breaker. She then says can I get you anything else, and I said yeah, some silverware, napkins and maybe some ketchup? So off she goes. I wound up taking the Ketchup from another table that had just left and we waited about 10 minutes for her to return with napkins and forks. The fish was like the curds, luke warm and probably undercooked. I get it, it's a burger place but still. The rest of my meal was ok. The chicken tacos came with a side of chips that was literally the bottom shards of chips from the bag in a bowl. So we continue, another half hour goes by and she comes back and asks if we would like anything else. I asked for the check and she said she would be right back. After about 10 minutes we decided to just walk to the front and ran into our waitress in her winter coat walking past to leave out the back door. She sees me and says oh! Just a second and she runs up to the front to get someone to process our payment. That person didn't know how to process a gift card. Normally I don't leave reviews but we absolutely will not go back. Normally things aren't the servers fault but between the almost cold food and poor service the prices you all are charging are terrible for what you are serving. And our server leaving us hanging in the back to leave- no thanks. Best of luck. read more

We were looking for a place in Oconomowoc to grab a quick bite and stumbled on this place. Atmosphere was just our style, casual with some rustic touches. I had the chicken and biscuits with roasted corn and poblano chowder. Both were amazing. They brine and batter their own chicken and you could tell. My husband had the fried onion burger burger and fries. The burger was very flavorful and a generous side. Great selection of beers on tap, all brewed in Wisconsin. Even several variations of boilermakers on the menu. Service was good, but took a little bit to get our food - but well worth the wait. Restaurant was pretty busy when we arrived ay 5:15 on a Saturday night. Our only regret, not getting the mac and cheese. Guess we will have to go back! read more

HOLY GREASE! So we got an order via DoorDash tonight, because Covid-19 and all. At first, we were amazed by the huge box of cheese curds... Only to find, about 2/3 of the order was literally just chunks of fried breading - no cheese at all. Even the 1/3 (at most) of the order that actually contained cheese was literally dripping in oil/grease. Absolutely disgusting. It blows my mind that something like this would even pass whatever "quality inspection" they might have. Clearly there is no such inspection. We actually came here 5 or more years ago, shortly after they opened - and until tonight, haven't been here or ordered from them since. We were disappointed (and frankly, disgusted) by the comically huge amount of grease. You'd think the issues would have been corrected over time, but they obviously haven't. Also, be aware that you do not get fries with your burger. Speaking of their burgers, they will almost certainly be overcooked - as they have been years ago AND today, with random bits of gristle for some added chewing fun! ... All in all, we had Crafty Cow once years ago, and were appalled by the horrific amount of grease on everything. We finally, years later, decided to give them another shot. It's clear that nothing has changed - and we definitely won't be giving them a third chance. I hate to be harsh to any small business during these tough times - - but terrible food is terrible food. read more

We arrived around noon for lunch on a Wednesday. 3 tables were taken and a couple of folks at the bar--so certainly not crowded. Our server was nice but it took an hour to get our simple classic chicken sandwiches for lunch. They were way overcooked to the point of inedible. I've had some really great meals here, but this was not even close to decent. Everyone else seemed to be in the same boat. Understaffed? Perhaps. Hope it gets better. read more

We hadn't been to Crafty Cow in a while, so wanted to revisit. They had changed up their menu and eliminated some of our favorites. Unfortunate but that's certainly their prerogative as they know their business and what customers want. Service was excellent all across the board, from the host to the kitchen, and our excellent server Ryan. Their food is always good, but their prices always seem high compared to similar options in the area. A chip and dip appetizer was $11.25, and the chips didn't even appear homemade (?) as half the chips were broken pieces like you find in the bottom of a chip bag. Our biggest frustration here is always that they are out of the beers that we order and don't update their chalkboard sign. It happened again as my husband and I both ordered the first beer listed (a hazy IPA) only to learn they had just run out. This is an ongoing thing in the five+ years we've been coming here...happens on almost every visit. For that and the prices, we gave a lower rating. read more

My two youngest and me road our bike into town and they decided they wanted to try the CC for themselves. We were in early and were the first patrons of the day. The space was clean a bright and a buzz with prep work by the entire team. Our server was very attentive and friendly, checking our drinks and food with the right tempo. My daughter ordered and bacon cheeseburger, my son decided on an app, the potato balls, and I selected the Hercules, their Greek burger. You'll have to keep in mind that the burgers are $$ considering they do not come with any sides, and he bacon cheeseburger being stuffed, was lite on both, just not much room in a burger to add enough toppings. Didn't come with and fixings either, so it felt very stark, and not very cheeseburgerish. The Hercules, was, well odd. There is meat on the burger, but it's not gyros, it was "Greek" seasoned slivers of flank steak - chewy steak slivers. The veggies were fresh and tzatziki was nice. The let down was the fact that the server said the could do a protein style serving. You see how that turned out - let down! Potato balls were tasty but again, only 4 in the order, so a bit $$$ considering how small it was. Fries were fair. I know there is a real following here at the CC, but the infatuation is lost on me, the concept just doesn't pan out, plus its way over priced as you'll see in the photos attached. read more

Best Brunch in OCONOMOWOC!!! We made reservations for Mother day. We started with pineapple mimosa and a Bloody Mary. Bothe we're very good. The best part was the chicken and waffles. The chicken was nicely breaded and seasoned. The waffles were very good. The flavor was like no other waffle I've ever had. I think there was crystallized sugar in the batter. Benny and Jets breakfast did not disappoint. We really enjoyed our meals. Ben was our server and did a great job!!! read more

The food is wrong and wrong greasy with bad oil, over-salted and over priced. Who made this menu and who cooks this? the $20 burgers are a kind of sampler of gastro hell. Ouuo. And Wow you can get $19 Ramen noodles . Isn't that the dish for all I got is 99 cents in my pocket. The in-house brew beer is somehow sticky. Hmmm. Then there is a Tequila Menu with $30-50 gonzo selections. Straight out of LA for High rollers.The atmosphere is a fun decor w cheeky objects, a fine patio and 90's RnR classic tunes playing at a right volume. The wait staff are gr8t. I have visited many a times and it's always yummy. My sister was recently in town with her boyfriend and his brother for Memorial Day. The brother, Ben, is vegan. Crafty cow offers vegan options so this place has always been a go - to spot for them. Ben received his meal and was informed that it was the vegan burger he ordered, so he started to eat. After eating about a third of his burger, the waiter ran up with a new burger and apologized, saying the one he was holding was the real vegan burger. Ben is a vegan for health reasons and so his stomach was extremely upset for the rest of the evening. The only thing that was comped was the vegan burger. Not even the drink he ordered after realizing he'd eaten meat to help wash it down. A bit disappointed in the experience, especially if it had been a serious allergy! It did not seem like it was taken seriously enough. read more

One of my all time favorite burger spots in south eastern wisconsin. Crafty Cow has incredible tap beer (some flavors are odd but 100% worth trying) and insanely great appetizers such as fries, brussel sprouts, and fried pickles. Of course their burgers are all tremendous. I used to eat meat but no longer do, however I have had most of their burgers including my all time favorite the Peanut Butter Burger. They also have a great beyond meat substitute (I recommend getting it substituted for the If Looks Could Kale). Crafty Cow is a great spot to get lunch or dinner with friends or family. Always one of my favorite hang out spots. read more
