Tonight was our first time eating here after driving past it for months. Suffice to say it won't be our last visit. We had a great time! Our server,Danea, was the damned truth!! My wife and I were originally seated near the bar but the crowd at the bar was watching the game so Danea recommended sitting in the patio area to eat. My wife loved the change, we didn't have to wait long for the food and yep the grub was damned good. We both had snow crabs, shrimp, mussels, with potatoes, sausage and boiled eggs. I had The Boom sauce and she had Cajun Buttery sauce. We've been home about an hour and we're still stuffed and smiling. I am a big Cajun fan but this restaurant was a total disappointment. First of all, their portions are minute for the price and their seafood was not fresh. I've ordered their Fishermen's Net for $39 and paid $19 extra for half a lobster tail that is a size of a shrimp. In addition I've paid another $15 extra for clams that were crunchy with excess sand. Pic below is $70 worth of seafood in tasteless sauce. They need to use fresh garlic and real butter to bring out the flavor and not overcook (boil) the corn. Loved it! The ambiance poured into the parking lot. First time there. Got together with a friend. She had suggested this place awhile ago. She said the name changed. Come to find out, so did the menu. Either way it didn't matter to me. I was just hungry. As always customer service makes the food taste better. We were greeted, by a very busy bartender. Our server, Jamar, was great. He suggested some items that didn't disappoint. Loved his energy, product knowledge, and customer engagement. Food was great! The crab fries, are now a palate fav! The oysters were sweet and succulent. Cat fish was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Fish held its flavor. Calamari was good, as a simple dish. Corn wasn't freshly shucked, but enjoyable. We had some other things too. Everything came out hot. For dessert, cheesecake. It was super rich. I couldn't finish it. Overall, as a first timer, I was more than satisfied. So I must say that the food was better than anticipated. Hush puppies were better than most, loved the spice level on my mussels and clams. Drinks were satisfying, prices reasonable. Service has a long way to go. Name on the outside of the building (thirsty crab) and the name on the menu and decor inside (crafty crab) do not match and the servers had a difficult time putting in our orders. Forgot basics like silverware and water despite multiple requests. The decor is bizarre - kitschy nautical stuff (pirates, parrots and crabs, barrel shaped pendant lights), with the same trying-to-be-downtown bar that was already there, giant tropical plants in central-American looking potters and an odd carved wood cabinet in the corner. Would I eat the food again? Yes. Would I dine in there again? I'm not so sure. read more

My first time dining at crafty crab. Dined here on a Sunday. There's two big ass signs out front with happy hour pricing Sun-Thurs. Manager refused to honor it saying they only have happy hour Mon-Thurs... then change your sign!! Besides that, the server was pleasant and attentive. Food was flavorful. I came here with my sister on a random Sunday evening and was happy with the food and service. Our server Jeanette was very attentive and the seafood was really fresh, not overcooked and well seasoned. We had 1lb of shrimp, 1lb crabs, 1lb black mussels with garlic butter seasoning that was medium and it comes with corn and potatoes. We added sausage, broccoli and boiled egg to complete the boil. The flavor was delicious, with fresh garlic included and the spice level was just hot enough to clear your sinuses but not overpowering. We also had margaritas and crab fries as an appetizer and they were yummy as well. We spent around 110 which was a good value to me. It's a very casual seafood boil restaurant with a full bar, tvs in the main dining room that has booths on either side and in the center are long tables good for large groups. Parking is easy and it's conveniently located on 611 in the old kitchen bar location across from target. Definitely one of the better seafood spots in the area and would return to dine in or for takeout! read more

I'm not sure why this place only has 3 stars, but I ordered from here 3 times and the food was consistently good. I ordered the fried catfish with sweet potato fries, my friend ordered the fried shrimp basket with the same side. Both entrees were delicious. I would like the recipe of the batter they use to fry their food in. When I picked up my order, it smelled so wonderful in there. Customer service was definitely nothing to write home about. We were seated as soon as we walked in but waited 30 mins before even getting to order drinks. I had stopped a worker after the first 10 mins wondering what was going on and another about 20 mins in. Finally we were being helped. The waitress was very apologetic which i was grateful for. My family & I did a take out order (since we aren't comfortable just yet dining at a restaurant) and wow. We were going to order from Chickie & Pete's but wanted to support a new local business and we are happy we did. The snow crab we ordered was so fresh, we didn't even need tool to help get the meat from crab legs. We will definitely be ordering there again. We went Saturday night and I called to see if reservations were necessary. I was told no. So of course we got there at 6 PM and there was a half hour wait. Part of this was due to Covid restrictions in seating. We were told this was their first weekend open for eat in dining, so I'll cut them a break. Service was slow, 45 minutes from order to placing food on table. We ordered 2 fried shrimp platters with onion rings and one catfish platter with Cajun fries. They were very mediocre. There was no salt and pepper on the table and had to ask for silverware. Most people seemed to order the crab claws, and were digging in. Not sure I'll return. Very average. read more

First time at this spot. 2 of us shared a pound of shrimp and a pound of crab legs. Chose the mild garlic butter and was extremely happy with the flavor. Loved the fact that, due to the "bag" and the metal serving plate, everything stayed warm, which doesn't happen with crab legs. Came with baked potatoes and corn. It was more food than we could eat and the flavor was just great. If they'd throw in some andouille sausage I'm back in Nola. Next time, I'll have to try the crawfish. Oh, If you're going there for breaded shrimp and fries (see other reviews), I'm sure there's a Long John Silver somewhere for you. read more

We were happy with our experience at the thirsty crab. We have been to several of the seafood boil places in Philadelphia and enjoy that type of food. The 5th star is for the gumbo and fried shrimp, which we thought were better than most. Their shrimp is slightly more expensive vs others we have been to, $21.50/lb vs $18-20 typical in the city, but they were decent size, easy to peel, and came with the corn and potatoes already vs ala carte which balances it out. I will say they are a little less spicy than others. I would call the medium spicy an "american" medium meaning I would personally take it up a notch next time, which I would not recommend at some of the others I have been to. My friends and I came here on a whim and had an absolutely wonderful experience. Our server Caroline was INCREDIBLE- so much fun, so pleasant, and so on top of service. We had some of the best mussels ever, great crab legs, and that corn on the cob!!! The drinks were great; the bartender Demarko makes phenomenal margaritas! Where do I begin with the lack of flavor.... I thought I had COVID because it lacked so much taste. They advertise a bar though - I guess the license may be pending because alcohol is not an option. Happened to see this place on the map near the hospital, and the patient gets to choose his restaurant after enduring medical tests. Very pleasant owners. Really enjoyable decor, outdoor seating, and we enjoyed all the seasonings! I've had plenty of seafood boils, but this has to be my favorite. We tried both the Cajun seasoning and the boom combo, both excellent. Scallops and green mussels were cooked correctly, and they even bring them out in a bag that holds in the steam so the seafood does not cool on its way to the table. This place doesn't have a bar. It is advertised to be a "Cajun Seafood and Bar" I ordered a seafood platter. Myself and others at my table felt the food lacked both freshness and flavor. Just got back from having a meal (our last) at the Crafty Crab in Abington. The food was ok - expensive - what seafood isn't. $6.00 for a side a fries I think is a bit much. Wasn't impressed. The meal presentation was awkwardly cheesey. Apparently, they have a steam in the bag system and bring it to the table still in the bag. When it first comes out from the kitchen, it looks like a tin platter with a plastic bubble on it. Someone needs to rethink that concept. The biggest disappointment was the service. The table next to ours were 4 ladies for whom our waiter couldn't do enough. Our service, on the other hand, was indifferent at best. I wanted to order a beer with my meal and couldn't get his attention. Needless to say, if he grumbled about our tip, it was well deserved. TIPS - to insure proper service. Being ignored, does not fall into that criteria. This is a very difficult time for the Restaurant industry. Having great food at a fair price is essential. The appetisers are very good and good sized portions. The mains were very good and the portion size were large. The only downside is the parking. It is very limited. Unfortunately this is not a positive review. The 1st entree my husband asked for was hard shell crabs and they were out at a crab restaurant. The next thing seafood gumbo they were also out of. We decided on crab legs & corn on the cob, what could go wrong ? Well the corn must have been frozen for a few years, mushy & not palatable. Oh we also ordered crab fries which had a thick creamy sauce queso on top which is not on the menu description. The fries were a 10 on the worst fries I've ever tasted.
