I can think of a couple of 'c' words that rhyme with 'crafty' that would be well suited to describe this place. And none of them mean 'good.' All around wasted evening out. Mediocre food. Service can only be described as painful. After hearing a new seafood joint had recently opened in our neighborhood and tiring of our usual spots, we decided that my birthday would be a great excuse to get together and try the Crafty Crab on a Saturday night. Upon arriving, my family put our name in and notified the hostess that it was my birthday and that they'd like him/her to bring me cake at the end of the meal to celebrate. The ambiance was great and we were seated fairly quickly. It all went downhill from there. First, despite what looked like a great draft menu, it turns out they don't yet have ANYTHING on draft. Well enough. Once we got our drinks sorted, myself and a friend ordered the snow crab, others at my table ordered the crawfish and Dungeness crab. Food came out fairly quickly considering the place was full and we received more straws than anyone could ever use, but we waited an extraordinary amount of time to get silverware and when we did finally get it, there weren't any of the tiny forks that are useful when eating seafood --especially when it's overcooked... On that note, the crab was way overdone so it was almost impossible to remove from the shell. And their house seasoning (Cajun) was nothing to write home about. We decided, while eating these 'one-size-fits-all' seafood and potatoes boiled in plastic bags that you shouldn't try to improve on Old Bay and butter and found ourselves wishing we'd smugggled some in. Then there was the service--or should I say lack of service? Once we got the food, we never saw the waiter again until the manager came by to "see how everything was" so we asked him to find our waiter and rattled off everything we were waiting on (refills, silverware, etc, etc) The piece de resistance came when the waiter finally brought the bill. Rather than leave us to complete our tips and come back for the check he handed them to us and waited for us to complete our tips in front of him before collecting them again. Considering how bad our service was, and how he'd been invisible all night, that left us with a bad taste in our mouths. He could have used that time to grab my birthday cake. But that request--like so many of our requests all night--had gone clearly ignored. But by then we just wanted out of there. So we headed to Carvel for ice cream instead. We won't be back--if you like seafood, I suggest you skip this one. If you're that desperate for seafood, Publix is right next store and they will steam a fresh lobster for you right there. If you ask, they'll even add Old Bay. read more

UPDATE: they took our credit card and were gone for an extreme amount of time which was surprising due to no one being in the restaurant. The NEXT day our card had charges on it that weren't authorized. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOU CREDIT CARD. Furthermore, my "great service" comment is definitely retracted. I guess they have to resort to credit card theft because theres no one in the restaurant to tip on their crappy food. So not sure what I'm missing here but I was not impressed. Came here because we wanted to try something new. The ambiance is so cute they did a really great job inside... and than it all falls apart- besides the service that was good. We were handed a menu and it legit only had sides, the boils and a page of fried food. It was extremely difficult to find anything I really wanted and I contemplated leaving but we were already here sooo... I chose snow crab and crawfish in their butter garlic and original cajun deal with a side of hush puppies and my mom got shrimp in lemon pepper. We were allowed to choose mild medium or hot. So the hush puppies arrive and they're hot as hell with a side of ketchup. What??! Ok fine but no plates, no knife, no freaking sweetener for the tea we ordered. But really no plate? Has me confused. Then our dinners arrive in this huge bag that looks like what you bring your goldfish home from the pet store with. It was so bizarre and you sorta have to tear into it. That's great and all but there is liquid and it gets everywhere. My food was meh. I ordered medium and it had no spice at all. The taste was weird the potatoes were huge and again no knife to cut said potato. My mom said she wasn't a fan of hers either. We both left hungry because not enough food and very unsatisfied because the menu was so lacking and the food was flavorless. I dont see this lasting. We went in with mixed emotions as some of the reviews weren't positive and we were still a bit salty about my lost sushi spot... Anyway, we were greeted right away by some friendly faces and were seated right away. They put down butcher paper on the tables for potential spillage from shells and seafood juice. Servers came over right away to take our drink orders. We did not order the seafood boil thing (looks like it's what you come here for)... but we did see them coming from the kitchen. A big balloon of a bag with the goodies inside... looked good and the people having it seemed like they enjoyed it. I actually wanted their fried catfish basket on the menu but sadly the server said that was an error on the menu and all they had was tilapia... bleh.. no... maybe you need to sit down with a sharpie and cross those out. So instead, we ordered fried shrimp and calamari. The shrimp had a nice light batter and was seasoned nicely. The calamari was decent sized... looking like onion rings and that was pretty tasty as well... Overall, we weren't blown away by the food... perhaps we'll have to come back to try that seafood boil. We had a crowd of 12 for dinner. The biggest plus was the wait staff who manage to get all the meals to the table in quick order. Things go downhill: 1) For the price, everyone thought their $$$ crab legs were just "ok" or "not good' all having soggy shells and a messy presentation of a dish inside of a tall plastic bag. Several people's dinner bills were over $90. 3) The crabcake diners didn't think there was much of such in the cakes... 2) The shrimp bowl was a cramped bowl of iceberg lettuce and some dried cranberries sprinkled in. The plate supplied was a paper plate about the size of --- well, a piece of cake. 3) Rubbery knives and forks, paper napkins - scant use of china plating. 4) Overcharged one diner $18 for an $11.50 drink. Took some effort to get them to redo the bill. On the plus side - from my viewpoint (I lucked out!) 1) Fried oysters were exceptionally good 2) Hushpuppies - spot on 3) Ice tea - surprisingly good and 4) The person having the fried shrimp said they were 'good.' 5) Were better than Kee's Grill -- larger and tastier Conclusion: If you spend that kind of money on seafood, it better be fabulous and worth the price. Really! ?? Plastic forks. Eating shellfish without proper utensils is a non starter. Our waiter poor guy, barely spoke or understood English. This place has good food and drinks, but they aren't very craft with their dishes. Garlic butter with a cajun seasoning? is how most dishes are seasoned with, and how can you go wrong with that? But still, nothing impressive in the menu. I ordered crab cakes, and they were so dry and flavorless I was appalled. Even dousing it on the garlic butter didn't help. However the steamed crabs and shrimp, as well as the scallops were very delicious. The service was kind of "off". For a pandemic and the large capacity, they were not worried about distancing much even when the place was empty. I went today. Hours are 12p-9p during Covid. I've been to the location down south a couple times and nothing beats this fusion food! You can mix and match. Pick your seafood and choose either a half pound or a pound. You pick your seasoning and spice level. Dry or wet. Garlic butter, crafty Cajun or lemon butter. You can also mix them. My first time my waiter recommended the garlic and Cajun mix and my god!!! These flavors are unmatched. Seafood is consistently cooked perfectly and you can tell everything is fresh. Everything comes in the same bag but all is cooked at the right level. Btw. Each lb of food comes w potatoes and corn. They also come on different price ranges and have different specials. So I went after work and the food is good but the hostess is rude and disrespectful. Once I walked in it wasn't pleasant, no hello or anything. As soon as I went up she said it very rude "there is a wait" I asked very nicely what is the wait time. I had to asked again and she responded "I said I don't know." She did not call my number she just looked at us and said your table ready. When we sat down we waited 10 minutes and had to ask another waiter that wasn't for our table and he wasn't even informed that we was sitting here because they was short staffed. New place so they are still working out a few things LOL. For example it was so busy and slammed tonight that they ran out of metal silverware and had to give us plastic. But we weren't finished eating before he brought us real silverware. The food was off the chain delicious. I had the steamed scallops with the boom sauce. It was done to perfection. The hush puppies are a little more on the savory and not so sweet. My son had the snow crab legs and headless shrimp boil. He had just the garlic butter sauce which was very delicious. The staff was very attentive and nice. No problems whatsoever. We were seated within 15 minutes and had our food within 15 minutes after that. I loved the Asian buffet that was here before this place. Crafty crab not so much. We were 6 at the table. Service really slow even though there were few people there. Catfish was very good and reasonably priced. Scallops were very good and fairly priced. Seafood Boil, their signature dish was disappointing and overpriced at $42. Crawfish tasted old, Snow Crab overcooked,clams were good as were mussels. Shrimp were OK but not great. A lot of food. It is served in a plastic bag - really tough to get the food out. There are much better seafood restaurants for these prices. I gave it 3 stars for the catfish and scallops. The Boil is 1 star. They add 18% on the bill for service. I had no Idea this restaurant existed until It popped up in my search. I am a crab and seafood lover. First thing you notice when you walk in is the gorgeous decor, and the mouth watering smell of delicious food. I wasn't a fan of crawfish as I had a not so muchnof a positive experience the last time I had tried it. My brother ordered it and crafty crab 100% changed my mind. I couldn't get enough. We ordered a platter and got to choose the seafood of our choice then we were given the option of flavoring. We went with garlic butter, and chose to have snow crab legs, crawfish, shrimp, muscles, clams and potatoes. They nailed it. When the platter arrived it came in a bag. We were a little taken back by its presentation, but this is when customer service definitely excelled my expectations. Our waitress opened the bag for us and was very attentive and knowledgeable. Once the bag was open, we weren't only excited to dig in we were shocked at how generous they were with their portion size. The meal fed 3 people and then some. I am here foot the first time for food second time for cocktails. And being a mud bug fan this is the place. Which were awesome and then I had the scallops with lemon butter which was also awesome. I was definitely ready to dig in but when your food server does not even offer a fork for the potatoes there is something seriously wrong. We were not offered water. This was a huge disappointment, the food was not worth the cost or the time to review the menu online. I placed an order with Uber eats for delivery to my hotel. Uber eats did great but then it went downhill. I ordered the king crab 1lb with corn and potatoes. The potatoes were the best thing in the bag. The corn was mushy, the crab was over cooked and the sauce was not garlic butter but a cajun seasoning. I ordered a garden salad, no dressing came with it and the tomatoes were spoiled, the lettuce was brown and old. I also ordered the fried calamari or fried bubble gum. It was tasteless and gummy; we could not even eat it . I requested utensils and plates as we are at a hotel, and not even a napkin came in the bag. The two desserts, one being cheesecake and key lime pie, went in the same bag as the hot food. I am sure you can imagine that it became a mess and inedible. read more
