Crafty Crab is always a good time, but this visit felt extra special. I came with some of my favorite friends for a much-needed seafood night--our first time seeing each other in a few months--and it turned into one of those nights filled with laughter, great conversation, and even better food. I ordered the Dungenous crab special with extra sauce and loved every bite. Everything came out hot, fresh, and perfectly seasoned--the kind of meal you fully enjoy in the moment and look forward to taking home (yes, I left with food to go!). I didn't get a picture of the meal because I was too focused on eating! The service was solid, the energy was great, and the experience reminded me why I keep coming back to this location. Lord, if there is one thing you can say about me is that I am a stubborn person. Another thing you can say about me is that if you do me wrong, I can remember that and it will turn me sour towards you or a business. I came here to attend a retirement party for a friend. I was happy to come and celebrate with her and friends. Once I was settled in I had asked to see a menu so that I could decide on what I would want to eat. I looked it over and decided, I asked a friend where I should go to order. I was told go to the bar and place your order since we were there for a party. I approached the bar, see the bartender and wait for him to come my way. I kid you not, the bartender left the bar area and did not return for a good ten minutes. After seeing no return in sight, that flipped a switch for me to not dine in house, stick it out for the party and then pick up food elsewhere afterwards. I even refused to drink anything while here. I know, I know. It's a business, I'm here for a party, they are busy. All those excuses go out a window when you see that other parties are being served by staff, but no one was coming around to the rest of us. I know I could have gone up to the dining area and ordered and ate, but again, I was there for a party in the party area. Yes, they were busy on all ends, parties, dine in, pick up orders, you name it. But I have walked out of places before for being ignored. My friends were trying everything to get me to eat, but if being ignored to order is any indication to me, I'm not really viewed as a customer to them. Also, the decor in here. It's very disappointing to go into places with friendly attitude and get a server with a crappy one. Although, my food was good the server (Robyn) and her bad attitude was not appreciated. She charged my card the wrong total, after I wrapped my bill around my card. We then asked to correct it, she is going to reply "can't she just give you the difference." No. You need to reimburse me, and charge me correctly. After asking for the manager, she comes over with same bad attitude, and repeat about my sister paying me instead of them correcting their error. I absolutely hate not tipping, however, if you treat me as if I'm the problem and not taking accountability for your incorrect actions I'm not leaving you a dime. One thing about the Crafty Crab franchise is how consistent they all are with the quality of their seafood, their drinks always pack a punch & there will always be people there! I went on a Thursday night, which was surprisingly super busy! Luckily there wasn't a long wait and I was able to get seated pretty quickly. It did take about 10 mins or so before my server came to get my drink and food orders but given how busy it was - I guess that's understandable. This is one of the few seafood boil spots I've been to that has the option for ramen noodles - which is a big plus. I just found that despite asking to have the ramen on the side (and not in the seafood boil bag), they were still overly seasoned for me and tasted quite salty. I went here for my birthday outing w/ the Matriarch downstairs smelled of a sewage problem apparently it's been like that for months!!, so we got a table upstairs, nobody downstairs, hardly anyone upstairs, the bar a few , tables light. Our Nice waitress Kodie/Kodi took our orders we got the shrimp basket w/hushpuppies and the scallop basket!... orders came out quick!... the shrimp was jumbo, fried very well but lacked seasoning on the shrimp itself before battered. The Scallops ! (My favorite seafood) was disappointing, they were chewy, the coating just wasn't staying on to save it's life and not to mention for 15.99 they should've been larger but it was like that little bagged scallops you get from the grocery store!. Even the Hushpuppies were bigger! & had a niiice flavor & soft (I've worked BOH as a lead Cook & inventory in a premium seafood house and the scallops weren't good!.. They decided to add an excessive amount of Kraft looking cheese over my order of crab fries. Never heard of this so I sent them back to remove the cheese. Once i sent it back, they made me a new batch of fries and decided to sprinkle dry imitation crab meat over my fries. I enjoyed the fries while the crab meat proceeded to fall off (there was no hold, no eating the fry with the crab meat). Would not recommend. Just dry. read more

This is my 3rd time visiting Crab Cab and my experience is pretty consistent. There is always the smell of sewer when you walk in but fades away as you go deeper into the restaurant. The food is fresh and decently seasoned. I've gotten chicken fingers which are surprisingly good and a shrimp boil that wasn't overcooked. The service is always so-so. There are a lot of young servers with moderate customer service at best. They have good happy hour specials and play decent music. I'll probably go back. read more

Our initial experience at Crafty Crab Largo wasn't ideal. The bar area wasn't crowded, yet the bartender seemed more interested in taking pictures than taking orders. After waiting 30 minutes without even being offered water, we expressed our frustration to the host. a manager or lead server noticed our conversation and quickly intervened. They addressed our concerns and seated us at a table. From that point on, the service was excellent. The food itself was a mixed bag. The wings weren't impressive, but the seafood boil was fantastic! The restaurant itself was clean and spacious, creating a good overall atmosphere. The food wasn't as good as the food from the Clinton restaurant. The service definitely has an opportunity for improvement. They are extremely slow, forgot three items in our order, and did not give us plates or a bucket for shells, even after we directly asked for them because they were not on the table. The sauce in the seafood boils here are one of, if not, the best I've tasted so far. My server was a delightfully pleasant and attentive young woman whose name I fail to remember, unfortunately. So I ordered uber eats and chose this location. The food arrived packed safely. The food was packaged neatly. Plenty of condiments, wet wipes and bibs. The food was very fresh and tasty! My Daughter invited me out to eat here for Lunch on 05/20/23. The place was very clean, the waitress was polite but not trained correctly. But we still tipped her well for effort. The food was okay but not exceptional for price. I could have gone to another seafood spot and been totally blow away. I I love oysters and this is not the place to eat them. I've been eating at some of the best oyster restaurants in the DMV. And these oysters where not smelly or bad, but you can tell they had been sitting in water, because all the good natural juices where gone. I ask the Manager to give me a refund and she almost threw a tantrum. And yelled out" I'm not going to argue with you! And stomped away. I will never eat at crafty crab again. It just doesn't do it for me anymore. I understand that these establishments mostly cater to African Americans, which I am. And I'm not being bougie but the service says you won't get any decent treatment here and many other locations like district heights location. Just say no! This is a nice addition to the area. I've been here 3 times. Once at the bar and twice for a To-Go order. My service was good at the bar. It's been a while so I can't remember which drink I got but it was good and the Calamari which was good as well. Now...the star knock off comes here. So I ordered one of their boils To-Go and everything was fine except for the fact everything was so saucy. Look I love me a good messy boil (Bibs an all!) but this did seem very over sauced. My mother even pointed it out to the point when every we get Seafood Boils she doesn't want to order here because of that reason. She said the seafood was cooked very well but the overwhelming sauce took away from it which I do agree. The third time I came back and got the Fried Shrimp basket To-Go and it was pretty good I just wish when it came to the Shrimp there was less batter. I went to this crafty crab on Monday and purchased a crab leg special with 2 pounds of crawfish. It was about 3 PM. I got home. I didn't eat my seafood right away,, Upon eating my seafood boil, the crab legs is broken up in little pieces. The shrimp were overcooked. The crawfish was black in the inside, they had a fishy smell.. I did talk to the manager the following day and she said that she can offer me 20% off and I told her that I had the whole bag of the seafood boil that I have purchased and I wanted my money back or a freshly made bag she said she couldn't do that and gave me corporate email. My family & I visited this location again and were greeted immediately upon walking through the door. The greeter at the front promptly sat us down and informed us who our waitress would be. Our waitress, Kelle, came over shortly after we were seated and took our orders for drinks and appetizers. She was very friendly & had a smile on her face the entire time. Kelle got our food orders and they were at the table before we knew it. Everything came out fresh and hot. It wasn't too crowded for a weekend and the music had the restaurant lively. I was happy to see another Crafty open so close to home. The interior is the best I've seen within the chain thus far. My experience each time I have visited has been great! However, my last visit wasn't as nice. I arrived at 9:30 PM only to be told by the female GM that the establishment was closed. The sign on the door states that Crafty Crab in Largo closes at 10 PM. For starters, if I could give these guys 0 (zero) star, I would do so in a heartbeat because of their poor customer service. Ideally, I loved this place from when they first opened. I've purchased food individually and as a family several times here. However, I got back from overseas yesterday and was hungry for seafood. I ordered online as usual. Picked up my food and went back home. Got ready to eat and found out that instead of the Cajun/Buttery Garlic with crab and shrimp I ordered, they rather gave me Cajun/lemon pepper. I immediately started calling them, but to my dismay, no one answered the call. It was already 10:10 pm. Fast forward to today, April 17th, 2023, I put a call through to the restaurant. The front desk lady was nice. But the moment the manager got on the phone, the conversation went "south." She is the definition of RUDE!!! I explained to her that I didn't want another food, but I just wanted them to understand that my food was wrongly made. She said if she doesn't see a receipt of the food and the food itself, she can't talk to me; then she hung up the phone. Long story short, I ended up going to the restaurant to meet the manager face to face. A slew of people trooped out of the kitchen right behind her as if they were coming at war. I explained my case to the manager again (while the others were listening in), and made it clear that even though a portion of the food (crab legs) may have been eaten by my hungry cousin this afternoon when I wasn't home, I just wanted them to understand that they got to do better by giving customers the exact food they ordered. I mentioned again that I don't want a replacement because that wasn't my goal coming to the restaurant. She just kept going off at me as if she was "it." To avoid any more issues, I left the food with them and walked away. I'm just done supporting local business like this one at this time. I would rather drive 40 minutes into Montgomery County to get proper seafood at my favorite spot where I get the proper treatment and respect I deserve as a customer. "Madam" manager, please learn what it takes to talk to people with respect. Not all your customers are average people.
