My longtime Dentist retired and I found myself with a Dental emergency. After checking Yelp, I called Dr Roberts' office and asked if they took my insurance. I was assured they did and was given an appointment the very next day. So far, so good. I was the first patient of the day and got there promptly at 9:00. Dr Roberts didn't show up until almost 9:25. I was left sitting by myself in his operatory for nearly 1/2 hour and it wasn't until that point that they first started taking x rays. I consider that rude and unprofessional. Dr Roberts determined that I needed a root canal and informed me he doesn't perform root canals but his associate does. What Dentist doesn't do root canals?!!! I was in pain and couldn't take the time to look for another office so I agreed to see the other dentist. I can't tell you his name because it isn't on the web site or on the door, but he mumbles so badly I was unable to understand much of what he said. I was told that I would need a follow up visit and a crown and left not knowing which Dentist my appointment was with. They sent a predetermination to my insurance to check my coverage. Well ... it turns out I should have been more specific when I asked if they take my insurance. They do, but they are NOT in network. The root canal alone cost me most of my yearly allotment and a big chunk of out of pocket change. And the crown would be covered at 50% of their private fees (not the in network fees as I expected). I've subsequently found an in-network Dentist to do the crown. In summary, although the dental work seems to be ok, I'm feeling misled, taken advantage of and disrespected - not qualities I look for in a Doctor. My suggestion is that you ask very carefully worded questions - this place is slippery. I've also learned to read the non-recommended YELP reviews in addition to the recommended ones. I've been going to Dr. Roberts for the past 5 years or so. I never knew Dr. Glassman, but have met Barbara, the old receptionist before she left the practice. I'm a bit amazed that some of these negative reviews aren't even about the practice or Dr. Roberts himself, but about an old, disgruntled receptionist that isn't there anymore. It makes me think that she is recruiting her friends to leave bad reviews because she left on a bad note. Not sure what she has to gain from this but it's pretty sad. When I look for a good doctor and read reviews on Yelp to see what other patients think, I don't ever care about the receptionist, I care about how the doctor treats his patients and how he treats whatever ailments they came for. I've come to Dr. Roberts with a wide range of tooth ailments, mostly cleaning, few cavities, and a fitting for a night guard. Whether it was him or his assistant or his hygienist, I have never had a bad experience. No one enjoys going to the dentist, but Dr. Roberts and his professional colleagues strive to make you feel as comfortable as possible, and that includes the awesome music they play in the office! No one likes to be poked and prodded in their mouths, but obviously we want to take care of our teeth. I dont care who your receptionist is, but I do care that Dr. Roberts and his crew are great dentists and I know i'll be well taken care of when i go there! read more

In an effort to be kind, I was non-specific about my recent visit to Dr Roberts' office and my review was thus removed by Yelp. I had focused on Barbara's mysterious absence and not on my bad experience as a result of her not being there. So, you asked for it ... It was hard to not be disappointed when I was welcomed by a stranger who, while polite, was somehow disengaged. She didn't know my name (don't they keep a schedule?), and seemed unfamiliar with my insurance or what would be covered (there seems to be a recent change with being/not being in network with my insurance). The usual friendly family atmosphere was missing. In it's place there was a lot of chaos - phones going unanswered, patients surrounding the front desk waiting to be helped and no trace of humor. I was kept waiting for an unusual amount of time. Sure, the dentistry seems to be ok but it feels like there are lots of good Dentists out there. And who knows what this visit is going to cost me since they are out of network now! I was Dr Glassman's patient and stayed with the practice out of loyalty to him and respect for Barbara's fine opinion of Dr Roberts. However, there's a constant change of staff and the feeling is gone. And, as a result, so am I. read more

I LOVE THIS DR. ROBERTS!!!!!! Seriously BEST dentist (well since we lost the AMAZING Dr. Glassman that is... RIP we all loved you!) I am SOOO happy to say that when Dr Roberts took over Dr Glassman's practice it has been seamless and easy! He kept Barbara... the BEST receptionist on the face of the earth and kept things running basically the same way (with a few upgrades) which i really respect! He is friendly and honest and does great work. His hygenists are AWESOME too!!! Theyre friendly and gentle and explain what they are doing while they work. Both the hygenists and Dr Roberts respect their patients and cater to your specific needs and requests (for instance if you're a scardey cat of needles they will give you the laughing gas too). I've had a LOT of bad dentists in my past and Dr Glassman was the first time i fell in love with a dentist... when he passed away i thought i'd be back to the same old game of shady, money hungry dentists in my life... but lucky for me and the rest of the patients there... I recently moved to the West Village and was in need of a simple filling, so I came to Dr. Roberts' practice several months ago. I've had fillings before, but this particular experience was just awful. For starters, the needle hurt, and when I complained of the pain he and his assistant talked over me as if I weren't even there. He was very dismissive of my concerns and seemed to be in a bit of a rush, as if a potential long-term client wasn't a top priority. When I went back 3 weeks later to discuss why the pain hadn't subsided he sort of gave me a shrug and claimed he was extremely busy and did a quick bite adjustment. Inexplicably the pain continued to escalate. So I went to another dentist in the same building (Dr. Flamer-Caldera), who removed and redid the filling that Dr. Roberts did. Since then there haven't been any issues. And the cherry on top, Dr. Roberts' office told me they took my insurance but they're actually no longer in my insurance's network. So it looks like they lied to get another customer. Terrible. read more

I LOVE THIS DENTIST!!!! Everything about my experience was positive. My sister recommended him and has sent others to his office as well. I had a few issues that my previous dentist was not able to take care of. The Office Manager happens to be the wife of Dr. Glasman, a wonderful dentist who Dr. Roberts has taken over for. She is a sweetheart and very helpful. The dental assistant is fabulous & for the first time in my life, I had a bunch of x-rays taken that did not bother my mouth! Usually the film cuts into the roof of my mouth, or the side of my cheek, and is extremely painful. As far as Dr. Roberts goes, he is very personable and professional. He explains in detail everything that's going on in your mouth and what the options are for taking care of your situation. I cannot say enough about this practice! I have just come from a bad experience with another dentist and I am so pleased to be in good hands! read more

I have to admit, I've never gotten to actually SEE Dr Roberts but that's exactly why I'm writing this review. Dr Roberts was recommended to me by a friend who told me how wonderful and welcoming the office was. NOT MY EXPERIENCE !!! First I phoned the office and left a couple of messages. When I didn't get a return call, I e mailed the next day and still didn't hear back from them for ANOTHER day. I should mention that my problem is with my FRONT TEETH which are in danger of breaking and need to be capped. The response I FINALLY got from the office was lukewarm and wasn't from the person I had been told to contact. Additionally, they were going to put me with another dentist - not Dr Roberts who had been recommended. I e mailed Dr Roberts AGAIN and told him of my experience and never even got a reply. My advice - if you want to be a VALUED PATIENT, go elsewhere. They don't seem to need business. read more

I have now seen Dr. Roberts twice, once for a cleaning/checkup and once for a couple of fillings. He and his staff (all the hygienists I have met so far, as well as the front desk staff) were so kind, reassuring and calm. During the filling appointment, they explained every step of what was going to happen beforehand. I have had some particularly awful, at times traumatic, experiences with doctors in the past. Because of this, I was so grateful to Dr. Roberts and his team that I could not stop thanking them for being so nice (to which they replied, "It's our job!" I only wish more doctors thought this way). Their care made all the difference during my appointments, particularly for the fillings when I was anxious. I truly, truly wish all doctors were like them. My current healthcare goal, in looking for my other doctors, is to find ones just like those at this office. DR CRAIG ROBERT'S IS A WONDERFUL DENTIST!! I used to dread going to the dentist but not anymore as Dr. Robert's is a truly gifted and gentle professional. He always explains everything step by step and uses all the newest technology and methods. My previous dentist was "old school" and I think Dr. Roberts is a breath of fresh air. An added bonus is the beautiful Washington Sq Park view while having work done. I have seen some previous posts regarding patients not attending the practice anymore due to the receptionists departure, I think that making a medical decision based on a receptionist is foolish. I think the office looks cleaner and less cluttered without all of those knick knacks she had all around. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Roberts since he took over the practice. I live near by and it is extremely convenient. Dr. Roberts is the the most wonderful dentist. He's calm and knowledgable and makes me feel comfortable when going to the dentist gives me anxiety. I have recommended him to family and friends and everyone loves him and continues to see him regularly. His office is clean and professional. He uses the most up to date instruments and techniques. Craig is an AMAZING dentist!!! I've been going to him for the past 4-5 years... and I can honestly say that he's the best dentist i've ever had. He is very good at what he does, takes his time and explains everything to me which makes me feel very comfortable. Dr. Roberts has been spectacular in making sure that my teeth are healthy and told me of any thing that was important to know about my teeth.
