Dr. Siegelman is definitely one of the best, but more importantly the point of my review is this: when it comes to teeth, we all experience that random sudden moment of pain, severe pain. I was in 10/10 pain, Dr. Siegelman put his patient first, me, and got me in right away and stayed late himself and one of his staff to operate on me. I am extremely dental phobic after having some terrible experiences. My mouth and teeth were a mess and I desperately needed to find a dentist. Alot of dentists say that they cater to dental phobics but they do not. And then I found Dr. Louis Siegelman and his staff. Dr. Siegelman called me before my appointment to introduce himself. During my consultation I felt that they truly understood me. On the day of my appointment I was feeling a bit panicked but they allayed all of my fears. They are a bit pricey but so what. I was very hesitant to write this review, because Dr. Siegelman and his staff do seem very caring. The hygenist, Lindsey(SP?), is especailly sweet and skilled at her job and this review is by no means a negative judgement on her. I just think that my fellow dental-phobs should be made aware as to what they're up against. What is great about this practice is that Dr. Siegelman calls you personally before the consultation. He makes good conversation and really tries to get to know you as a patient: the source of your dental fear, your dental history, what work you'd like done, etc. As I said before, the staff is friendly and professional. The office is modern and comfortable. What worries me is that after my consultation at this office, I got a second opinion and found that I was being grossly overcharged and that my problems could be fixed much more easily than Dr. Siegelman had anticipated. I have a tooth that is causing me a lot of pain, and Dr. Siegelman told me that it would probably have to be extracted since there's not enough tooth left for a successful root canal. When my new dentist (who is just as caring and professional and who has more positiive reviews) heard that diagnosis, he was shocked. "There's absolutely no reason why you would have to lose that tooth," he said. Apparently, a root canal on this tooth will be very easy for a skilled dentist to perform. What a relief, especially since Dr. Siegelman had told me that my extraction would "mess up" my smile for 6 months since I would be walking around with no tooth there until healed. My new dentist also gave me antibiotics for my tooth, and it doesn't hurt at all anymore! He said it was "mean" that I hadn't been perscribed antibiotics before. I had also lost an old crown from a previous root canal, and Dr. Siegelman told me that the now exposed tooth would eventually have to be extracted as well. My new dentist's diagnosis: wrong again! That tooth can also definitely be saved. Siegelman's office also told me that my procedure (either a root canal or extraction) would be over $4,000! If I wanted sedation, it would cost an additional $1,700. The quote caught my attention, because I've had a root canal done at another NY office that also didn't take insurance, and they charged me $2,000. I panicked a little, and Dr. Siegelman came out and told me that he would drop the $367 charge for oral sedatives. I don't know why, but at this point I began to feel very uneasy. I felt like I was being offered false bargains. The receptionist told me that no matter where else I go, the price will be about the same. Wrong. When I told my new dentist the price, he was absolutely shocked. He was also very open to the idea of me getting services done somewhere else (I won't though..I'm very happy with him) and didn't try to coerce me to stay with him. I've received the quote from my new dentist for my root canal, and it's under $2,000. Less than half the cost of Siegleman's quote. So now, I get just as caring a dentist for a fraction of the cost, and I get to save my tooth! I don't know why I was told that my tooth probably needed to go. Is it because this office isn't skilled at root canals, and they're covering their bases? Just a little something to think about. So moral is, go here if you're TERRIFIED of the dentist and need to be knocked out (although my new dentist said that sedation should be about $400-$600, not $1700) but otherwise, save your teeth and your money! You can have an even more pleasent experience elsewhere. P.S.: When I was in Siegelman's office, I believe I heard him behind the wall listing all these teeth that needed to be extracted from another patient: "16, 17, 18,...19.." Yikes! I hope she got a second opinion too! P.P.S: I hope that I don't get in trouble for writing this review, and I hope my new and wonderful dentist doesn't either. To be perfectly honest, I never thought I would be able to write such a positive review about going to the dentist. I have an inexplicable fear of dentists so found Dr Siegelman's practice while researching dentists who specialize in dental phobia and nervous patients. My experience at this practice has been positive from start to finish. My initial consult was great - a non invasive examination of my teeth where Dr Siegelman carefully checked what was going on and one of his very sweet dental nurses carefully took a full set of x-rays being really careful not to hurt me or cause discomfort. I was fortunate enough to be fitted in for an appointment the next day to remove a wisdom tooth that was causing issues, get a deep clean and sort out a couple of cavities. I arrived for the procedure and was greeted in such a warm and caring way by all the staff there I felt immediately calm and in great hands. I was made comfortable in a very cozy room, covered with a warm blanket so I was comfortable and the nurses chatted with me so I didn't climb the walls :) Eventually I was given an IV and put to sleep via anesthetic. When I woke I felt zero pain and all the work had been done. They even let me sleep a couple of extra hours while helping me drink a cup of coffee, some water and offering me ice cream. I should also add my friend picking me up told me after we left that he wouldn't hesitate to go to Dr Siegelman as his primary dentist - and that was just after him hanging out in the lobby and talking to the staff for a couple of hours - I think this really says a lot! He was impressed. So I've found my new dentist - today I am home with no swelling at all, feeling like my dental health is on its way back to where it should be and happy to have found a dentist whom I trust and feel super comfortable with. I even feel zero anxiety about going for a follow up appointment. I can't say enough positive things about Dr Siegelman and everyone at his practice. Even if I move to another state, this is a practice I would take a flight to come back to! I cannot thank them enough! read more

Dr. Siegelman is kind, attentive, and made our family feel right at home. My mom and I visited Dr. Siegelman's office looking for a special kind of dentist to provide dental care for my younger brother. He is 16 years old and is an individual with autism. He is also primarily non-verbal and has difficulty adapting to new and unfamiliar settings. Naturally, we were nervous about how his needs would be communicated and addressed. Dr. Siegelman and his staff were warm, patient, and treated us like family. Dr. Siegelman answered all of our questions and discused every imminent detail in a way that was clear and consice. His team (including the receptionists, and dental assistants) were very personable and easy to talk to. The entire team helped to calm our fears and made us feel right at ease. Most importantly, they treated my little brother with the utmost respect. They addressed him directly, smiled and laughed with him, and even encouraged us to bring his favorite items (including dvd's and a stuffed animal) to help him feel relaxed and comfortable in an unfamiliar setting. Not only did his teeth come out looking phenomenal, but Dr. Seigelman set us up with a managable dental regimine that we can continue at home with him and supplied us with all the necessary materials. I take very good care of my oral hygiene but I have to tell you, I am deathly afraid of the dentist. I have dodged appointments for years. I saw Dr Seigelman's commercial on TV and that he caters to people like me. I've been told before by many previous dentists that they also cater to dental phobia patients, but Dr Seigelman takes it a step that is MUCH Further. First, I have to say he's a great dentist, but above and beyond that, he is also a wonderful human being. He takes an incredible amount of time to make sure you are 100% comfortable before you even have a procedure done. He gives you many different options of sedation which I chose to be put to sleep, because this talented dentist is also an anesthesiologist. Although he could have made more money putting me to sleep, he called me the day before my scheduled appointment and suggested that with the work I was having done I did not need the anesthesia and he thought that the oral sedation that he had would work fine. He was right! I took the oral sedation in the office and in about 10 minutes later I went into the chair he did all the work, even cleaned my teeth and I didn't feel a thing. I woke up and felt great. I just want to say again he is an excellent dentist and a wonderful human being who takes the time and effort to talk to you down off the cliff. I dont understand the positive reviews. I went to this dr after hearing his radio commercials. I had a partial denture that was loose and hurting me. This dentist wiggled it back and forth and said he couldnt get it out then but to make another appt with his front desk. The front desk gave me a print out for 5 000 worth of work i needed including a gum scraping. I never went back. He didnt get me out of pain and btw no other dentist from then on told me i needed a gum scraping. So much for his commercials read more

Sought out this dentist because he stresses being concerned about the comfort of patients who have any kind of "dental phobia". He specializes in using IV sedation for prolonged dental treatments that could cause discomfort. My experience with this dentist consisted of him removing a crown that was cracked that a previous dentist had applied. I was told by Dr. Siegelman that the previous dentist did not leave enough tooth to work with when he removed the broken crown. Dr. Siegelman applied a new crown with the material that he forms right in his office with the device that makes that crown right in that visit. However, if you need a root canal, which I did because there wasn't enough tooth left after drilling the old crown off. You have to go back and have him drill off that new crown to do the root canal! More distress and discomfort! And more money!! There's a lot of dentists out there that send the molds out to a dental lab while a temporary crown is on to see if there's any issues before the new one is permanently applied. Think about that. After I went through the root canal and had a new crown applied, I was letting Dr. Siegelman know that I still had a strange discomfort in that tooth that he did the root canal. I was told by him that I would feel that if there was even the slightest bit of food in between that tooth and the next. I would have to floss right away. Still continued with a discomfort in the one corner of the tooth when I would touch it with my tongue. I had another tooth that had an onlay type of filling put on and part of that had cracked off. Dr. Siegelman removed that damaged onlay and applied what he thought was best; a new crown with that same material that he forms with the machine in his office. Well after he drilled that cracked onlay off, he drilled too much tooth and that tooth needed a root canal. Come on! The onlay did not take up as much tooth as that previous mentioned crown from that other tooth. Well, this time I got a second opinion. I went to a dental team that has a periodontist and general dentist on their team. After extensive xrays, yes it showed this second tooth needed a root canal! That first tooth mentioned showed a piece of the file that is used for root canals was left in the root. And the xray showed that the crown was not fitted properly. A gap showed where the crown is supposed to be a tight fit in that corner of the tooth that has been giving me discomfort. Hmmm..... Thankful for second opinions. I asked Dr. Siegelman if he even remembered or knew that a piece of the file broke off in that root when he was doing the root canal. He said," he didn't remember, he'd have to check his notes." That's troublesome!! Haven't heard back from him. With this dentist - when it comes to beyond regular drilling of a tooth with a cavity, I question his judgement. read more

I went to Dr. Siegelman at the recommendation of a friend. I was greeted warmly by his staff. His hygienist, Melissa is very skilled and gentle. After my cleaning, I also consulted with Dr Siegelman about a troublesome tooth that other dentists had (i) recommended I get a root canal on given the minimal root structure or (ii) proactively consider an implant before the tooth breaks (the tooth has damage from a former wisdom tooth extraction). Dr. S approach the situation with fresh approach, recommending a minimally invasive intervention...music to my ears! Dr. Siegelman is the best dentist I have ever known. He's a perfectionist, which I love, and one of the kindest and caring dentists I've ever met. He listens to your fears of anything and is so comforting with his words. I was referred through family to Dr. Siegelman and my whole family pretty much has seen him. He remembers who I am every time and whats going on that makes him even more personable and NEVER has he been judgmental at all. The ladies in the front are wonderful. Very nice and professional. I just moved back to New York about 4 month ago. Now that I'm finally working in the city I can afford Dental. I have not been to a Dentist in about 12 years. !!!! Part 2 of review (first was on 1/14/2014) So this was the day of my first actual dental treatment! I will describe exactly what happened and then add a few words about my overall experience. I arrived with my usual awful anxiety about having dental work done. I sat in the waiting room after having been warmly welcomed and right away I felt a little calmer because of how the staff approaches you. I felt immediately more relaxed, because they expressed confidence and reassurance, wonderful to get for someone like me! They gave me some mild medication to calm me and within minutes I felt "I can really do this." I met with Dr. Seigelman again, and he was very calming and gentle. When I was ready, they brought me to a wonderfully calming dental room, all I really focused on was the lovely and cozy looking dental chair, which resembled a less threatening version of the dental chair we all are so familiar with. I was given an iv, because I chose not to be awake for the procedure...it was all very comfortable and pleasant, and within what seemed to me to be minutes I awoke refreshed and relaxed! Done! Dr. Siegelman was right there, along with the kind, familiar faces of the staff. I DID NOT need a root canal, which is what I had been told by the other dentist I had visited. My teeth look better than they have in such a long while, they look bright and white, and I had no visible swelling or pain. The dental cleaning I was given was very thorough and the fillings done (one big and one small) I can't even feel! Once again, Thank you Dr. Seigelman, for your wonderful diligence, your honesty, and your perfect staff. I will be your patient for the rest of my life! Oh, I did forget to add, prior to my treatment, one of the staff, actually asked me what sort beverage/anything she could get for me for when I awake...she actually got me a container of large, cool orange juice, because I told her that was my favorite drink. Upon awakening, it was right there for me! I just can't even say enough about all of his support staff, each in their own way unique, caring and so well-trained. I've truly never experienced anything like this, even at a doctor's office or at a hospital. They honestly should be a model of medical care. No one should have to experience fear again regarding their dental experience. I hope that one day, someone can do a video or interview Dr. Seigelman on his approach with patients and all the attention to detail. He puts in a huge amount of effort to what actually one experiences as effortless by him. One can tell he truly loves what he does. I was refered to Dr. Siegelman from a business aquaintance and was very happy. Th e office was extremely professional and caring. They reveiwed all dental procedures and prices with me prior to each appoinment and Dr. Siegelman also followed up after each appointment with an evening phone call. I first encountered Dr Siegelman in the fall of 1982 when I visited a dental practice in Queens, based on an ad in the newspaper aimed at apprehensive persons, of whom I was one. At that time, I needed a lot of dental work, because, as a boy, I had a traumatic experience at a dentist's office and had been afraid of dentists ever since. After several visits, during which I was counseled on the state of my dental health and what needed to be done, I finally got the needed work done. I was VERY satisfied with process and, the work was done using the necessary sedation to make me comfortable during the process. Suffice it to say, Dr Siegelman has been my dentist for the last 28 years, which is a testament to my satisfaction with the service he AND his team renders. His chair-side manner is beyond pleasant, and,he WILL spend as much time as YOU need to become comfortable with the process. It is also instructive to note that I have NEVER had any discomfort following any dental work performed by Dr Siegelman (of course, this cannot be guaranteed to everyone), but this has been my experience. I am a 60 year old woman who had a fear of the dentist that was beyond description. I hadn't been even close to a dentist in over 15 years. Dr. Siegelman is as good as it gets. I was restrained as a child by another Dentist during an extraction as a child and genetically do not have the greatest teeth (Thx Dad). I have had many unpleasant experience with prior Dentists (all considered NYC's finest) who would let me know I had bad teeth and treated me poorly. I was lucky to find Dr. Siegelman and have been a patient for over ten years. Over those ten years they helped bring my dental health to its best state ever. Even with great care this week I had my top wisdom teeth removed, as they had been hard for me to brush and were never in great shape prior to seeing Dr. Siegelman. The Dr, and staff, were the only ones I would ever trust with this procedure. The Dr told me 6 months ago they needed to come out or they may break, I was reluctant and a month ago an almond cracked one of the wisdom teeth, exactly as the Dr. had warned me about and predicted. When I came in there was no "I told you so" or any of the fears I had. Monday I had the procedure and felt fine immediately after. No pain, and my mouth felt better than before and my breath the freshest in a long time. You will not find a better Dr., period. Normally I would seek a second opinion though I TRUST Dr. Siegelman, which for me is a rare occurrence. As I entered Dr Siegelman's office, you can sense that the mood in the office is about caring and understanding the person who has entered. I was welcome into an office that is very hands on, clean and upbeat. The friendly, knowledgeable office staff showed sincere interest and were there to put me at ease. Going to the dentist for most people brings some anxiety and I am no different. Dr Siegelman's smooth demeanor and comforting approach made me feel very calm. He has a very gentle nature and really understood my needs. I never felt rushed and full explanations were given at every step. When I had questions or apprehensions I certainly felt that he and his staff listened. Today I was here for root canal. Ouch!!! But that's how I felt. Dr Siegelman and his staff of medical professionals were right there to reassure me every step of the way. What ever I needed to make me feel better. I must admit I haven't been to a dentist for years. OK so I am scared of the dentist. I had an incident while eating pizza, which had a tiny pitted olive hidden, that cracked my tooth in half. Yes, I swallowed it but the pain was excruciating. I had to see a dentist but a good dentist, no a great dentist. I asked around and Dr. Siegelman's name was given to me. I am so grateful. The staff was extremely helpful in getting me an appointment immediately. The hygenists are so wonderful and skilled at what they do. The office runs smoothly and organized which is very relaxing for a dentaphobe! But the best part, and it shocks me to say this, is the dentist Dr. Louis Siegelman. His demeanor is gentile, calm and concerning. He is talented and gifted as a dentist. He saved my tooth and it didn't have to be pulled. He works so precisely and performed a perfect root canal.
