We actually didn't get to eat here. We called and made a reservation, then called to tell them we will be late and were told "no problem " When we arrived they had no tables. The owner was extremely rude and has zero people skills. He did not apologize for the mix up and told us in a nasty way "I'm trying to run a business!" He never even offered us to wait for a free table. This is no way to run a business. There is more to running a good business then what you sell. It is also about customer service. I guess this is a lesson the owner has not yet learned but hopefully will. read more

Have been here a few times but the most recent time was my last. Purchased two oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, the girl handed them to me and it literally felt like two stones in a paper bag I said do you know when these were baked? They feel pretty hard. She replied she had no idea and shrugged...I am not kidding or exaggerating the cookies hurt to touch that is how hard they were. The older man behind the counter was just standing there and overheard the whole exchange obviously not caring they are serving stale food. Great little homey place. We stumbled upon this for lunch after touring the Vanderbilt Mansion. The food was great (try the homemade soups), very fresh and very reasonably priced. Cranberry's was a quaint little find after a wonderful day of touring. The food was exceptional, flavorful and quite delightful. The staff was very accommodating, and full of smiles. We rarely have dessert but the items looked so delicious that we just couldn't resist. Delectable! The sofas and fireplace added to the ambience of this lovely little café. WOW!!!!!!!!!!! First off came off the road during the week for a quick stop and was taken away by the near endless pastries and coffee selection. The cashier was so helpful, i opted out for a breakfast croissant sandwich and morning glory "cookie" which was to die for!!! But i'm writing about the breakfast sandwich. Was expecting standard norm and was blessed with heaven in a wrapper! Ordered bacon,egg, and american cheese. Got super crispy bacon (so yummy), the gooiest cheese i've had that wasnt on a grill cheese, and NOT rubbery eggs thank god, and the toastiest croissant ever! Just came back from my first visit to Cranberry's, and all I can say is "What took me so long?". Great food, great service, and very friendly staff (and customers too) !! My Ruben was perfect, with just the right amount of sauerkraut. I couldn't resist getting a Macaroon and it was probably the best one I've ever eaten -- so moist. They lie about opening times.we drove here specifically for lunch that said they served until 4:00pm but as we arrived at 3pm they randomly decided not to serve us even though there were still people working behind the counter. The food is great, but it seems like the place is never open! I have tried to go on multiple occasions but they were closed for the day. The sandwich I had there was basically a grilled ham and cheese. It was on plain bread and the flavors were great but I wish it was more like a melt of a panini. This is a charming local cafe with great lunch food--lots of wraps and sandwiches, tempting bakery items. Best of all are the friendly people. We had arrived in Hyde Park by boat and were seeking public transportation from the town to the FDR home and museum. When I asked the owner for information about taxis or buses, he excused himself briefly and then pulled an employee from behind the counter and had him drive us to our destination! I found Hyde Park's secret local home town eatery. Nice, pleasant place to grab breakfast or lunch. If they have specials - get one (I like the Dennis, the Alex, and the Queen or King something). Bakery items are cooked on premises in the morning. They have wraps, sandwiches, salads, omelets, breakfast stuff (try the Heart Attack wrap), bagels, big croissants, quiche, baked goods, many coffee varieties, and "Harney & Sons" teas. They don't have burgers or fries, but that's ok. The staff is Very friendly and funny, and if you listen to the bantering you will laugh, they have fun joking with each other. All of the customers greet each other like they've been friends forever. On the downside, they close earlier than I'd like (4pm on Sat, 3pm on Sun), and the free sides are smaller than you would expect when you 1st see them, but are actually a good size with the meal. It's not a fast food place, it's relaxed, so it's casually paced - but they bring the food to your table and you can pay before or after you eat. Really comfortable and friendly!
