Stopped into Crane Room Grille while in town for business after it was recommended by my hotel, and I'm glad I gave it a shot. First impression pulling up was really cool. It looks like there may be a banquet or event space attached. Walking inside, the place has a great rustic vibe with a mix of wood and metal finishes. Definitely a well done atmosphere and a comfortable place to sit down for a meal. I originally ordered wings and specifically asked for them extra crispy since I am not a fan of soft wings. Unfortunately, they came out the opposite, so I sent them back and decided to switch things up. Instead, I went with a cup of roasted corn chowder. It came out hot, but overall it was just average. Nothing bad, just nothing that stood out. At that point, after the wings miss and an average soup, I will be honest, my expectations for the main course were starting to dip a bit. But the entrée completely turned things around. I went with the bruschetta chicken with wild rice and grilled vegetables, and it really delivered. Presentation was excellent with two nicely plated chicken breasts over wild rice with zucchini, squash, and onions. The chicken was cooked perfectly, and everything had great flavor. This dish definitely made up for the earlier hiccups. Service wise, Elizabeth was attentive, friendly, and very apologetic about the wing issue, which I appreciated. Overall, I would land at a solid 4 stars. I would come back again, but I will not be ordering the wings. When someone orders crispy, they mean crispy. read more

My daughter said they had delicious pumpkin cheesecake so we had to come give it a try. We sat down the bar area and waited about 10 minutes before being approached by a server. We were standing up to leave when she came over. The French oak old-fashioned Was very tasty. Disappointingly they were out of rum Chata so could not make about half of the specialty drinks The pumpkin cheesecake was delicious. The turtle cheesecake was good, but not as good as the pumpkin. Portion sizes were nice; I had beans and mashed potatoes. Good taste for both but was surprised I wasn't asked if I wanted butter for mashed potatoes. Would I go back? Only if someone insisted on going there. I definitely wouldn't order the beer batter fish and make sure I ask for butter for mashed potatoes. I've been here numerous times before. The food is always delicious. On this visit we only ordered a couple drinks at the bar to celebrate St Paddy's day . My husband had an IPA and the red I had the red and the kolsch ( all crane room beers). They have an extensive selection of not only their own house made beers but other craft and domestics as well. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very friendly and efficient. We enjoyed our beers and our time there. Next time we will grab food as well. read more

Call to order take out, get disconnected mid conversation with woman who answered the phone. Call back goes right to answering machine. Call back 5-6 more times rings and goes to answering machine. Finally get ahold of a different woman 5-10 mins later. She says sorry we aren't taking to go orders. I say that's funny I was just on the phone and got disconnected while placing one not even 5-6 minutes ago and she just hangs up. Just Terrible. Two separate visits to this restaurant has proved that one should definitely go elsewhere for a meal. Extremely inattentive wait staff, Sysco-bland food, and tired-looking interior. First visit was with a party of 3 for a weeknight dinner. Fleas at the table and a waitress who would disappear over and over again, leaving us without drink refills and very long waits in between courses. Second visit, a few months later, was with 35 in their small, private dining room on a Saturday evening. Only one waitress, who was terribly overwhelmed. Terribly long wait for entrees. Not even bread on the table. Three different entree choices, but we waited nearly 1.5 hours to eat. Only half of the guests were even served the dessert! A terrible evening. 7pm arrival & did not even eat until 8:30pm, some had to wait another 25 minutes for their entree. Painful, sad, and so embarrassing for the host who chose to have their group dinner at this establishment. I will not return for a third time. Please, go elsewhere!!! read more

Visiting from Maryland, we decided to go by this fun place. We had to wait about 15 min and got a drink at the bar while waiting. They have so many craft beers it's insane. I don't drink much beer but they have Angry Orchard on tap and a large full bar for whatever you drink of choice. Check their website for daily specials on food and drinks. Wednesday's they have 1/2 price selected apps and $5 23oz beer or cider. Bar area is where we sat and it was comfortable crowded. Service was a little slower than I would expect but the staff are very friendly and helpful. I had the Crane burger and some apps shared amount my peeps. Wings: had the honey hot, great sauce not overly large wings. Good flavor and mix of drums. Tomato Flatbread: Fresh not much on here. I'd skip. Spinach & Artichoke Dip: Very cheesy. Like the pita with it but got hard as it cooled. Was fairly good. Crane burger: I asked for Med-well at the advice of the waitress, was glad cause it was medium. Bacon, pickles a over-easy egg on top. Good taste and the bun was perfect. This was pretty good. If your looking for a good place to hang out watch the game and have some food this is your place. Well. Not sure what to write here. Been in twice before once for dinner once for a business presentation that included food service. Both previous visits were fine. Stopped last night, when we arrived had a couple waiting in front of us, hostess comes in says she'll be right back, 6-7 minutes later she returns and apologizes nicely for the wait and takes them in. We then wait several more minutes and notice two spots at the bar open. After sitting down didn't get any real response from the bartender who was pretty busy (but you can still portray the right attitude while in that situation) eventually asked me for a drink order, ordered a beer to keep it simple (which I was confused as they are a brewery but only had one of their beers on a menu, in THEIR own bar) my partner asks for a beer on the menu, bartender states "we're out of that" and moves to other end of bar after waiting a few more minutes without her returning, getting my beer, or basically anything, we left. This is only the 4th time I've ever left an establishment because of the service, or lack thereof. I'm in sales and know the pubic are generally a pain and further, how hard it is to hire staff, so I try to be accommodating, but I won't be back, ever. Oh and as a postscript, the patched member of the Mongals MC at the bar really added to the je ne sais quoi. Personally, I prefer Hells Angels. read more

First time here on Easter Eve. 1st off we had a party of 9 and we were seated promptly. We were greater by our server who was quick and accurate. She checked on us often always looking to fill drinks and see if we needed any thing. Then the food came and I was quite upset. I ordered the crane burger and it was soooooooook gooooood.......why was I upset? Everyone else's food looked sooooooo goooooood. Food was hot and fresh. Tasted homemade. Horrible. Worst experience of my life! I recently went here as I have went here many times before and I like this place, besides the extremely and exhausting wait time for everything here and the confused and bewildered workers that have no clue what their doing it's not too bad but coming here was the biggest inconvenience I've ever experienced. The food was cold after waiting for an hour and it wasn't even very good, the place wasn't even busy yet it was as if they had to serve thousands. Avoid this place at all costs, I'd rather eat dog food out of a tin can in a pitch black room with bears trying to maul me than go to this place again. Pathetic. read more

My husband and I were in the area and stopped by here to order their special of an $8, 1.5lb soft pretzel that came with a spicy brown mustard, honey mustard, and beer cheese. We were super excited (especially me) as soft pretzels are my guilty pleasure for an appetizer! My husband ran in and grabbed it and when he put the box (almost the full size of a pizza box) in my lap, it was surprisingly heavy! When we got to our destination to dig in, we opened it up and it was ginormous! There were nice flaky pieces of salt adorning the top of it. When pulling it apart, the inside was nice and fluffy with a crisp (as if lye was used in the recipe) outside layer with a touch of the flaky salt. I thoroughly enjoyed the pretzel and the honey mustard (clearly homemade), was to die for! There are no restaurants in the Pittsburgh area that compare to this level of soft pretzel! Food is good but service is slow and fruit fly's were around us the last two times we ate there. So we haven't been back in a while

This was our 4th visit. We drive about an hour to get here, and if tonight's experience was our first I probably would have never come back. The past few visits were 5 star. First the battery in our pager died so we waited who knows how long to get seated before finally saying something to the hostess. I know we waited long enough to drink two tall beers from the bar. After being seated our server (Ollie) finally comes by and starts by saying he's having an off night. He takes our drink orders and comes back with just water. I see our beers sitting on the bar but he runs off again. When he returns he asks to take our food order. I ask about the beers we're still waiting on. He runs off and returns with them and takes our order. The wait seems to be taking forever. A few of us ordered soup before the meals, which we had to ask where they were. He gets them, and minutes later the food comes out but some of our orders are wrong. We send some stuff back and get our missing sides, but now my burger is barely warm and my bun is still refrigerated and soggy. When the server stops by to see how things are I lodge complaint. He speaks to the manager and comes back offering free desserts. We take him up on that, but when half our party picks theirs, he informs us the manager said only one free dessert. At this point I'm very frustrated and ask to speak to the manager. When he comes over he's acting like I'm bothering him and starts offering more dessert. I tell him at this point I'm just very unhappy and we want our checks. He removes the burger from my check and that's it. This is a retrofitted former machinery building which serves as a fancy restaurant now. It's interesting to see the old tools and pipes, but not at all cozy. The lamb sandwich was great. The shrimp were jumbo and tasty. There is a new micro-brewery but the wine selection was limited. Came in with a group for a business lunch. Neat décor with old machining equipment and tools placed about the establishment. Plenty of beers to choose from along with a good array of spirits. I opted for the grilled lamb sandwich which I requested medium. As they used small cubes of lamb instead of slices it came out closer to well done. There was a bit too much cheese on it as well but it was still rather tasty as it had a nice amount of spice to it. The homemade chips were crispy and came with an interesting chipotle dipping sauce but would have been better if there was less salt. Service was a bit spotty and sloppy. I have always loved coming to the crane room for lunch or dinner! The interior is really unique and gives off industrial vibes. The bar area has a large number of TVs so you will not miss a single game. A few weeks back my parents and I came here for dinner. I'm a big fan of their burgers and salads. That night I decided to try the Asian beef salad. It comes with grilled sirloin, mandarin oranges, red peppers, water chestnuts, almonds, oriental green beans and a ginger sesame dressing which was extremely tasty. The sirloin itself was very flavorful and tender. I highly recommend that salad or the Sicilian salad. I also highly recommend the crane room burger. It's 100% ground chuck, pepper jack cheese, bacon, mushroom, grilled onion and a fried egg on top. So delicious!! It's a pretty open restaurant and has a nice back patio for those that like eating outside. The food is always good, which is why we always come back. read more

Stopped in last night and they were very busy. I had the Bourbon Sirloin which was excellent, cooked perfectly medium rare with sides done right as well. Friends had the Cedar salmon and strip steaks, all of which were very good. Our waitress was excellent although she was running her feet off. This place was a favorite over the past few years however over the past few months the food has been less than average.. Tonight was the final straw. How hard is it to make a sandwich? My family has been here several times and enjoyed the meals and service. I even recommended the place to several people but will not recommend after my recent visit. Sign said seat yourself. Our family of 3 sat in the main seating area and waited for 25mins watched four different staff including the hostess who came on duty after we seated ourselves, walk around us and not one person stopped asked if anyone had helped us, no drink order or menu provided during this period of time. This is our favorite place to have a salad in the New Castle/Neshannock area. On Wednesdays, you can build your own salad for $8.95. It's huge and has a wide variety of interesting toppings to choose from. Today, I had artichoke hearts, candied pecans, kalamata olives, feta cheese, jerk seasoned chicken, etc. It's served in a big bowl that makes it easy to eat. The ambiance is nice - a rustic industrial themed place that is decorated nicely with lights and trees. The service is always good, cheerful, friendly and quick.
