Usually a nice enough place to forget life. I have a Stubs Plus membership so for $30/month, I can see 4 movies free a week which is 16 movies a month. The theaters are currently swarmed now with Wicked drones (the proletariat indoctrinated with marketing brainwashing) - even saw a pair dressed like the two lead simps. Witches buy popcorn. When I entered my non-Bewitched theater early, I joked to another of the few patrons there in the empty Nuremberg theater "why didn't you come dressed as Görring?" This went over better than my joke to the concession drones, asking if they're seeing a lot of brawls in the Wicked-screenings. Blank dumbfounded stares. Doesn't anyone remember laughter? So: two minor complaints at this evening's prematurely ended evening for my "free" ish flick: 1) A bossy short Dad and his son came and I was sitting in one of their seats - it was early. I cheerily explained I didn't wanted to crowd the person next to me but now I'd move. No big deal. That was until short stuff sternly ordered me to get up. "Get up!" 30 minutes before the film in a half empty theater as I was being unjustifiable polite. I said something lighthearted in response to the Sultan's Command and there were no problems - until after the homunculus sat down and then proceeded to pull up his furry bare stinky feet yogi style into his lap to do what any decent civilized man would do at any movie theater in front of his child and strangers: he began to pick his filthy feet. 2) After I got that bestial grooming tactic out of my mind after twenty minutes of ignoring it in my peripheral vision, then on the other side of me I heard the familiar "sppporitzzzclick" of a Good Ole Boy crackin' up a cold one. This is doubtless illegal - at first I ignored it but after his second beer gassed up the area to a dive bar level stench miasma, I left the theater early. I wondered as I escaped the Hollywood whitewash flick (I was buying Russell Cow's twinkling eyes), whether Mountainside staff would have done a thing if I had reported the primitivist or the drunks. Generally quite an empty movie theater which makes it a peaceful trip, but there aren't recliner seats. Instead this theater has large rocking chairs, which simply cannot compare to a cozy lounger in a movie theater. read more

When the new Dr. Strange came out my friends and I had to pivot from our original reservations because the original theater's IMAX was having technical issues. Not wanting to completely ruin the day which was planned for weeks, we decided to try the AMC Mountainside location since there were clusters of seats still abundantly available. We quickly found out why. Just about the biggest positive I could say about the place is that it's located in a huge parking lot with ample space. I'm not a big fan of theater food for the most part so I'll leave any feedback regarding that to other yelpers. The actual theater itself wasn't the cleanliest. You can tell compared to other higher end AMC theaters that it's a notch below from a quality standpoint. The biggest pet peeve is definitely the lack of recliners. When you consider that the AMC theater prices are universal, you'll find yourself disappointed from a comfort standpoint. When you compare this AMC to theaters such as Essex Green or East Hanover, I would not be convinced to come back unless it was a dire social situation to save plans. Despite the shortcomings, we still ultimately were able to watch the movie and the day wasn't completely ruined. If you're in a pinch and can look past the flaws AMC Mountainside is a choice but beware. read more

Disappointing as it is. My last time here (2018) I yelp them a 5 star. But that was when the furniture was new and cleanness was at it's best. Sad to say rhe furniture is ripped and run down would be an understatement I was very disappointed in my visit today. Went to see the National Championship. The theater was dim when we went in. Just enough light to see the rips in the chair furniture. Was a completely empty theater on a Wednesday @8pm. So to say it was a slow day would be accurate. After the movie when the lights were bright. I was shocked with all that was on the floor. Popcorn and trash like the theater had not been cleaned all day. I get most people are shorthanded but this was not about being shorthanded and 3 people came in to clean up and they all went to the one row I was sitting at. The cheese popcorn was so cold. I did not eat more than two pieces of the small popcorn. And I was looking forward to some warm chesse popcorn. The icy was on point though. So to say this theater is near me, but guess I will try it in couple years to see if it gets better. read more

This place is horrible!!! It's so dirty. The garbage cans were filled up above the canister with piles of food! The theater itself was such a mess popcorn food and spilled drinks everywhere. The seats were all ripped up it was disgusting. I can not believe how bad it's gotten. A decent movie theatre for you and your family. You can purchase your tickets in advance online and pick out your seats so there's no need to rush to the theatre to grab seats. The seats are comfy big red chairs. It doesn't recline but you can rock it slight back. It's large and comfortable for kids (and adults) to cross their legs on it. The staffing is cool and the ticket and concession lines move quickly so no worries. I like that this location is a stand alone which means there's plenty of parking spaces, unlike the mall. My only dislike is that it's located on route 22, which road is known for many car accidents so enter and exit the lot carefully. read more

The seats are large and plush but many have ruined leather. The staff are not that friendly and obviously don't care about their job. Also, the audience (when its packed) is the rudest: loud, talked throughout the film, and since seats are assigned, if they come in late, expect to get flashlights in your eyes because people are rude and just don't seem to care. Trashiest audience that makes this place absolutely unbearable. I wanted to scream. Definitely not returning. It's better to pay more and go to the dine-in in Edison. read more

Mountainside joined the world of reserved seating for movies. It's really convenient, taking away the old days of trying to find an open seat in a dark theater after the movie has already started. The concession is also updated - clear lines and self-serve soft drinks and butter for popcorn. I like all the updates that Mountainside made. They've always been in a great location, huge parking lot and lots of space. Now that the renovations have completed, I think this theater will thrive. One note, I am a big fan of watching the entire movie that I've paid to see, including watching the end credits. Since Mountainside backs up movies so close to one another, the cleaning crew comes through as I'm still watching the credits. That's fine, I totally get that. What isn't cool is when they turn on the bright fluorescent cleaning lights that completely drown out the screen. Please, employees of AMC Mountainside - don't turn on the bright cleaning lights when people are still watching and enjoying their movie. read more

There was fire while watching the movie and everyone was confused as the alarm rang but they never bothered to stop the movie. The movie just continued playing. After we came back the movie just continued playing though no one was around. We got a movie pass but still the experience is lost. Also, for some reason the staff there at the confectionery stand were not that helpful. One person kept demanding to see the food order number even after repeatedly saying / showing the receipt. The staff also made me swipe the card couple of times. On the whole its best to avoid this theater. read more

Came here on a rainy Saturday night to watch Fifty Shades Freed its opening weekend and as expected the place was packed. I liked the fact that you can go online and pre-purchase your movie tickets and pick the actual seat you can sit at similar to going to a concert. I think this is great especially if you are running late and don't have to worry about getting horrible seats all the way in the front! The seats also were comfy and for a second I thought they reclined because they were so plush and had movement to them. But unfortunately they didn't but they were still pretty comfortable nonetheless with good leg room. I also did like that it was easy to find the theater our movie was showing because it was clearly numbered with the a small screen telling you what movie was playing. I did see that they had these ticket counters where you could just print out the tickets you pre-purchased but we ended up making the line anyway to get to the machine. I should have looked to see if they were some located elsewhere so you didn't have to wait on line for the guy to just tell you to print from the machine lol Overall, I would return since the theater was clean, you can choose your seats prior and the chairs were comfy. read more

My favorite theatre very close to home. The concession stand is great and place is clean and organized. Reserve seating is definitely a plus. I wish they had IMAX here. I go early in the morning so that we get discount tickets and good seatings. And now we have a-list membership we are there every week to watch at least a movie and second one if good movies are out. We buy ticket online before going there, definitely a time saver. We never wait in line and they have membership line for food line. read more

This AMC has changed with a renovated, rearranged, and more spacious interior. Concessions are now at the back with self-serve soda machines on the left side by theaters 1-4. I like that we have options in buying our tickets online, on app, through a worker, or a self-serve touch screen. I don't know why the last is next to where you order tickets in person and not in its own designated spot in the corner for easy, non-awkward access. Workers are few and sparse. Sometimes there are a few who are energetic and genuinely greet you with a smile and want to assist you the best they can, most of the time the rest are there to do their job. Without much of a workforce or system in place, the atmosphere is pretty relaxed, chill and empty. There's an ease and nonchalantness in going about your business. However, that's also resulted in no one actually acting as a gateway in checking tickets or QRC codes. I've found that's the case most of the time. That shouldn't bother me but it still kind of does in that there's a momentary lapse where you question why you purchased your ticket in the first place when you could have just walked in without one to watch your movie and no one would have noticed. Then immediately after I remember we do it to support the movie. Theater rooms themselves are okay. Screen and sound system is good. Old school fabric cushioned seats were replaced with padded PVC seats that are stiff and hard to me, making my tail bone and neck ache after a screening. Sure they're easy to clean but they're also not flexible, recline-able or comfortable. The rows are also not inclined from the screen, making the tall backs of the seats in front somewhat block your view if you're short. Lots of pros and cons with the changes here. Very clean. An okay viewing experience. 3 stars. read more

I'm not sure if I'd even been back here since I wrote my last review four years ago. I saw "Vice" in theater #5 the other day. I don't know why they design these new theaters with the seats so close to the screen. Old time movie theaters were not like that. You need to sit at least as far back as the width of the screen to get the proper perspective. I want to sit in the back rows, if possible, but those seats were taken on this occasion. I sat more than halfway back, but it was still too close. Also, the curved screen is distracting. That must have something to do with the digital projection system. At least the ticket prices are reasonable during the day. read more

For a company that advertises themselves for being clean during covid I sure as heck didn't get that sense of feel when I got to my seats and there were napkins on the seat or a fork shoved between the seats or with the overly sticky floors. The seats themselves were even falling apart and for a seat that wasn't a reclining seat we were laying almost all the way back on the floor! No chance will I ever come back here!! read more

AMC in Mountainside is a large movie theatre conveniently located on Route 22 East. Their parking lot is massive so finding a parking space within a reasonable distance to the entrance was certainly not an issue. The theatre itself appears to be clean, the restrooms are clean, as well and the staff was friendly and attentive. We ordered a large tub of popcorn for $8 (reasonably priced) and the popcorn was fresh tasting. We found seating within the theatre with no problems and the chairs were amazing. It was like sitting in a plush living room recliner (FYI: they do not recline but were still very comfortable) All in all, I would most definitely recommend this theatre to those near and far. I live only 10 min away but would be more then willing to travel the distance even if I weren't within close proximity. read more

Nice theatre, nothing really to complain about here except the staff can be slow sometimes. Matinee on a Sunday morning was fun, barely anyone in the theatre! Popcorn was fresh even though there wasn't a crowd there. Some of the recliners were ripped up a bit which cheapens the experience a bit, especially when you pay a premium for these seats. The bathrooms are clean and there are always plenty of stalls open which is great when running in and out during a movie. Lots of parking, private lot for this theater. At night it can get really packed and the lines can get quite long. The downside or upside of this theater is that you have to select your seats off a chart so you could wind up in really bad seats if the movie was full from advance purchases. read more

The exterior looked more like the other AMC theaters, and the digital LED sign that displayed movie titles was simply replaced by the big AMC sign. This theater went through a significant interior revamp for a period of time. When I walked in, it was quite clear that the "Loews" feeling was gone, and it was now all "AMC". So what's inside the revamped theater? The ticketing area was located on the left side of the main lobby. It also contained touchscreens for those who wanted (or had to) to order tickets by themselves and pay by plastic. The whole entire backspace of the lobby was taken over by the concession area. Also on the left were the Coca Cola Freestyle machines. An ICEE machine was there too. The restrooms were also revamped too. Everything there looked bright and clean. The sink and soap dispensers were activated by motion sensors. They even installed the Dyson Airblade Hand Dryers and motion-activated paper-towel dispensers. Everything looked better than before. Just a heads up that the restrooms are for patrons only, as indicted by the barricade that's built and guarded by a ticket checker. The individual theater units were also revamped by the change of seats. Each seat was made out of red, "leather-like" material, and the back portion reclined. The material felt really comfortable, and having the backside recline only made my experience a lot better. You also get extra legroom too. Finally, each seat is labeled with a number, and a row is labeled with a letter printed on the floor. We bought our tickets at the counter. They said that we had to choose our available seats from the screen in front of us before proceeding. That's their reserved seating process. We were able to do that without a problem, including recently with the new Spongebob movie. There was one time when we were forced to order the tickets by ourselves with the touchscreen machine (and pay by plastic) due to an overcrowded line, and that was with the American Sniper movie. Sometimes when my friend & I see a movie (including recently), we end up in an empty theater for the 1st few minutes. When that happens, we usually wander around the theater, and take pics of the empty seats. We even pretend to present lectures in front of an invisible audience. Yeah, just a little fun before the Spongebob movie. ;) Speaking of which, that movie was really fun to watch, especially in the comfortable seats. Some more people showed up before the screening, but it wasn't crowded. After the changes, I noticed a few things. One, the nice waiting area in the back of the theater is gone and replaced by the concession area. The water fountains in the lobby area are gone too, and moved to the theater hallways. Finally, as a result of the new seats, the seating amount in the theaters have reduced in capacity. For this, try to arrive early during peak hours to avoid a "sold-out" moment. Overall, the revamp that took place here was very good. In addition to the comfortable seats, you don't have to worry about paying to park since there's plentiful free parking at this theater. read more

The theater is beautiful but not worth coming here based off of staff. There was no one at the box office area, granted there are machines now that you can order your tickets but when there is no way to scan a pre purchased ticket, you need a customer service agent. All the employees were hanging out by the concession stand that I was able to surpass checking for a ticket and went into guest services. The man working at guest services was walking away as I was asking for assistance HENCE GUEST SERVICES. Terrible customer service and terrible way to lose revenue. This is a team atmosphere and no one acted on it. Also the fried were cold.. Which at this point I was already disappointed. read more

I've been here plenty of times and always have a good experience. Pros: All theatres are reserved seating so you don't have to worry about coming early to secure your spot. Comfy sofa type chairs There's plenty of great restaurants nearby if you wanna have a meal before or after your movie if you'd rather not spend $7 on popcorn Bathrooms are always clean (whenever I go) Cons: Seats don't recline All seats are at ground level so it's kinda weird if you're used to tiered seating on stairs I've been coming here for years and at first I wasn't crazy about the floor seating but I've gotten used to it. Customer service is usually good but it all depends on who you happen to get. Pro tip: If you happen to go to the movie at least 2x a month then you NEED to sign up for the A List subscription. I love AMC Theatres, but this location has been disappointing the last few times I have gone here. My biggest issue is the cleanliness of the theatre. Yes I understand it gets extremely busy, but I'm not speaking about a Friday, Saturday or Sunday Evening; I'm speaking of a Tuesday afternoon, when most people are still in school or at work. I usually try to avoid the crowds and my last visit was no different. The area behind the counter was a mess, some of the seats were not only dirty but ripped. I think if you choose to go with the leather or leather look, occasionally you have to take the time to really clean it. In addition, the concession stand ovens should work, consumers should not hear, we don't have pizza or other products because a particular special oven doesn't work, it's a business, AMC makes enough money where they should have either a backup plan or a backup oven, "Your problems should be seamless to the consumer!" I'm not being hard on this theatre at all, I'm just being truthful as I see it going downhill. Springfield is a nice town and any business in the town of Springfield should stand up to the reputation of the town; so to AMC Springfield I say, "Get it together!" read more

Comfortable seats but they don't recline. I bought tickets from Fandango but there was not a ticket taker. Just a ticket seller with a line. I am paying a convenience fee to avoid waiting on the sales line and should be able to go up to the ticket taker. But there was no taker. That left me two choices. Check-in with the seller ( a slow line since people are selecting seats) or check in with nobody and just walk right in. Plenty of parking. Pretty lobby and attractive concession are. I love this theater! I've been going here since I was a child and it's been my go-to theater since then. I ventured out on a cold day to see a 4 PM movie and was greeted when I walked in, which was a pleasant surprise. When I got to the concession stand, I had the best conversation with the young guy working there. Our theater was clean and well maintained. The best thing about this AMC is that the seating is reserved so you never have to worry about looking for a spot to sit. Bathrooms were relatively clean, cleaner than your average. It's my go to theatre in NJ. The seats are deep and cushy though some are starting to show signs of wear. They consistently clean the theaters in between the movies. I saw Wakanda Forever on Saturday in theatre 9 and the volume was too low. The website reads that they take Apple Pay though they don't. read more

I grew up coming to this movie theater, I'm so surprised to see how nasty this theater has gotten. I've been here at least 3 or more times within the past 2 months. Everything from the staff , the bathroom, and the concession stand was completely dirty. The staff is very rude. The only reason why I continue to com here is because they don't sell out of tickets very quickly. I had an incident at this theater and the manager was very fast acting and took care of everything right away. I've also attended free movie screenings here and it was complete and total mayhem. People with no control over there children , trash every where. I would never pay full price to come to this theater. read more

I like the location, the seats the ability to buy my tickets on line. Then after standing in line for ten minutes while 4 women lagged and wanted time. The people in thw food stand spent lore time on their phones then taking care of customers. I think I will pack my own form now on. read more

This theater used to be nice. Now it's all broken down. Seats are broken, soda machines don't work and the theaters are dirty. Don't visit this location. Maybe others are better. And they should not use the Pandemic as an excuse. read more
