Furnishing a brand new place can be hard!! That's correct new home owner!! I love hosting and wanted to make sure I had everything for my first house warming! Crate and barrel has everything from good quality couches ( have purchased couches from here before) to the cutest coasters ! I love a modern type of vibe with lots of succulents and was able to purchase items from crate and barrel that gave that vibe! All the stores had lines in front of it due to covid, however, crate and barrel didn't. We came to this store a lot in the past years. Was so excited to visit here again since their construction, but experience was ruined instantly by an employee. I was looking for new decor specifically their birds selection. Found very cute brown seagull that was displayed like every other item in there. Picked it and was walking around to see if I like anything else. Was rudely approached by sales associate (name starts with Mela..., couldn't see full name, she had her hair closing the name). I was startled by the way she suddenly ran over and started speaking in a rude and condescending way. She stated that the bird is not for sale (we didn't know as it was placed in multiple places in the store) and demanded to see where we picked it up from, in the way of 'go put it back'. So rude and unprofessional! I gave it to her and said we didn't know it was just a store decor. Fine, gave her the bird and continued shopping. She kept following us (not sure why) even up and down the stairs. Not even helping or asking questions... just following. My husband noticed and actually asked her if other birds were also decorations or for sale (like their piper). She once again responded very rudely saying No, none are except for kiwi (I have those already though). We looked online and these were for sale!!, grabbed a piper and bought it with other items. Employee at the counter was wonderful. Felt discriminated and humiliated (she was so rude about it). Either she didn't know their own inventory or just all around unprofessional and judgy. Will not come back here anymore if she is there. Ruined my excited vibe and gave nasty experience. Usually C&B employees are great but this one will loose them buyers. Not coming back! Diana at the Costa Mesa store is so fantastic. She's kind and extremely helpful without coming off as pushy. I didn't plan on purchasing anything when i walked into the store but i left purchasing items to create a beautiful table center piece all because of her help! She even grabbed some items in the store and put them together to show me how things could look on my table. Someone give this woman a raise because I've never had a better retail experience in my life. I will be coming back to this store just to continue working with her. Thank you Diana!! Well dear rude sales associates at crate and barrel, you ended up missing out on over $10,000 on commission to West Elm! I wish I got this guy's name to share on here. The hiring manager at this location must be a miserable person because most of the sales associates out on the floor are rude, condescending and frankly incompetent about their products! There's associates just standing at the registers STARING at you but talking amongst themselves. They know you need help but don't do anything about it. One has to hunt down someone to ask a question about products and when you finally find a miserable person to "help" they're rude and lack any knowledge about their products. This has happened at this location numerous times whether it's on the second floor or the first floor kitchen appliances. Their stupid iPad they walk around with doesn't have any more information than the website we can use at home to purchase online. We go to the store to hear more about a product and to get an opportunity to see the product in person to get a better idea of the quality of the product. If they're too bitter and miserable to get that, then we're DONE shopping here!! Done! Dear store manager, Customers come here to furnish their home and the experience they have here stays with them. Curbside Pickup from this location takes forever. If It has to do with the change in store location then they should temporarily pause curbside pick up service since they are unable to execute this service in a timely fashion. She made our experience so lovely and checked in on us throughout the process. I was there yesterday making a small purchase. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Glad to have this store close by and with the wonderful staff. They are in a temporary space now as the original site gets remodeled. Talking to the staff I found out that the escalators are being removed and being replaced with stairs. I think this is a design error and will not make the store conducive for shopping both floors. As an architect for 25 years involved in large award winning work, the removal of the escalators and replacement with stairs is not a good move. It makes it difficult to move inside the store and the view coming down the escalator is lost. And lots of customers I think will find it less inviting, similar to Potter Barn next door. I guess William-Sonoma will get busier. Probably the furniture stores on Hyland and Sunflower will pick up new business since they are all on one floor. It's too bad the escalators will be gone. read more

After we went on vacation we arrived monday afternoon I got a voicemail and said I need to pick up the item right away or else they are going to send me a check. Spent over $25k on new furniture from Crate and Barrel. Most of it was delivered at the end of July. By December the sofa that cost $5k already was making noise and sounded like something was broke. Called customer service they sent someone out. They said they couldn't fix it. I called customer service back they said they couldn't do anything the warranty was up. They offered a small discount. When I asked how long the warranty was in the sofa . They told me one to two months. Wow that doesn't make since. I will never shop here again. Amazing customer service. Hubby and I decided to upgrade our serving dishes and opt for more quality dishes. We decided to give C&B a try and we were not disappointed. We ordered our set online. Love that they have the option to choose a set or individual. We went for a set of 4, each dish was priced at about $9 each. We chose to pick-up our items at our local C&B upon checking out our online order. We got our e-mail confirmation to pick-up within less than a week. We pulled up to their designated curbside spot, filled out the check-in form provided in our e-mail, and a staff member immediately came out with our box. The staff member dropped off our box in our trunk and exchanged a thumbs up with us as he was coming back into the store. How great is that?! Super easy. We got in and out of there in less than 5 minutes. We also learned that you can curbside an hour before the store officially opens. That is A M A Z I N G. As for the serving dishes. Worth every darn penny. These dishes are durable and sturdy. They do not chip or leave scratch marks from silver cutlery. We couldn't ask for a better set of serving dishes! 10/10 would definitely order from C&B again! read more

I've never been to a Crate & Barrel location before, but did register for almost all my wedding items through them. Everything was shipped to our home, but unfortunately a couple items were delivered cracked or broken. This location is out of the way for me, but I was in the area for work and decided to see if I can do an exchange. I parked and walked in (this was around late November) and they were pretty busy. I'm horrible with names, but the guy helping me was very sweet and went out of his way to assist me. I showed him the broken pieces and he was able to swap them for me right there, no paperwork needed. He was also nice enough to offer to help me carry the items to my car, but I managed. I dropped my replacements in my car and came back to browse. Lots of cute Holiday items and their second floor is more larger furniture. I browsed around, but didn't see anything I really needed (plus everything was expensive) so I left. Given how crazy the Holidays can be, I was happy to see they had great customer service and went out of their way to help me and the others that were in line. As end of October approaches no table and I call in for an update I'm advised late November. I'm hoping before Thanksgiving... It's now December and they're saying late December. I hope that Thanksgiving and Christmas isn't important for you when you order for here... I'm livid especially because they can ship now to other zip codes I've tried on the east coast and Midwest. Placed what I thought would be a quick-to-ship order in-store to support local business and to have a point of contact for order communication, but was so stunned to be met with such unprofessional, jaded and unhelpful associates throughout what ended up being a 3+ month long delay for a defective item that, despite being sofa-less and desperate for seating for a quarter of a year, I had no other choice but to return because of how terrible the product and experience was. I was on my own once the sale was closed and was told to work with the online team once issues started trickling in. This is in regards to an "in-stock" Oceanside sectional configuration and fabric option that I had fully paid for and was told I could expect in the coming few weeks. Come that time, I checked in to hear that it ended up getting backordered, without any communication prior. This would happen again and again for the next 3 months. Throughout that time, I was dumbfounded how not a single associate could provide an updated delivery date range I could look forward to, and how, to my surprise, associates also said they are not able to contact their vendors for status updates even given the escalated situation. Pretty much I was told all both they and I could do was to continue to wait with no end in sight. Now, backorders happen. I work in the industry. What really irked me though was the lack of information I was provided as a client who had fully paid for a major furniture item, not just a deposit as one would put down for a custom piece, with no date in sight as to when I would receive my large purchase. No helpful information to manage my expectations. And it really bothered me that this didn't seem to bother anyone working there. No one was monitoring the case, advocating for their paying client with valid concerns. When an update finally came through, an associate said 2 of the 3 sectional pieces were ready. I raised concern that the pieces were then probably being made from different dye-lots but was not met with any help that would have prevented my already delayed sectional from having further issues come delivery. Again, no advocating or proactive measures taken. Not to mention, none of the associates even had a clue as to how sectionals are made and how this would be a red flag on their end. Sure enough, the pieces came separately, back cushions sized differently and of different colors. Really fought hard to advocate for my situation as a client and ended up having to waste a lot of time making sure I got my purchase only to receive an unacceptable product that they were unwilling to make right for us. The manager on duty that I spoke with after receiving the last delivery seemed like she could care less about the whole transaction and waved us off to re-explain our situation and work with the online team. She made clear she was tired of dealing with what seems to be frequent messes made by Crate & Barrel, but at the end of the day, her job is in customer service and just the slightest bit of compassion towards neglected clients who were understanding, helpful and proactive throughout the process would have gone a long way in redeeming some respect for how her store and employing company does business. Crate & Barrel has some nice collections at what I consider relatively affordable prices. But even at the lower prices, between the product quality and customer service, I firmly do not believe any of their furniture prices are worth even that. So buyer beware. Crate & Barrel, please train your associates better- empower them with resources and information that can better help serve the people who keep you in business! read more

Two story Crate & Barrel located in South Coast Plaza. I didn't have anything in particular I was looking for but left with several random kitchenware items. Because most of the items were glass, we had to use several baskets so the items wouldn't break. Excellent customer service from Jorge who took our basket to the front while we continued shopping. Last week I went in for an interview for a job at the store that I'm abundantly qualified for. It seemed to go well, but I guess not. Regardless, she promised to call me back by Monday to let me know whether she wanted to hir me. The store manager who had interviewed me, Shea, is unprofessional. She never seems to be available when I need to speak with her, and she doesn't keep her word when promising to make a phone call or return one. She is condescending in a subtlely sarcastic way, which falsely indicated to me the interview had gone well. She evidently has no respect for my time. There is no way in this world she found fifty people more qualified than me, and she apparently doesn't have the courage to tell me what her decision was and why. read more

Purchased dinning chairs and a bed frame with the understanding that the items will arrive in September However the bed frame was delivered damaged which was taken back however Crate and Barrel is now stating we have to wait another month til November for a bed frame? It sounds like they do not actually stock any furniture in their warehouses and purchases from a vendor when you purchase your item. She was able to contact a different store that had the item we needed and got it shipped to us. She also called me to follow up and let me know that she was able to get everything set up and all I needed to do was call to process payment. This store/company has really stepped up their game. I feel that they are chasing down the WS and PB crowd and to be quite frank, are doing great with regard to stylish products. So many nice things in the store at the moment and the quality is amazing. I feel that if you want to nest and make your space great, this is the go-to place. I have been here several times over the last few weeks. The staff were very helpful and there was no waiting at all outside but important to note, no crowding in the store either. A nice, safe balance of people with enough staff to help. We purchased some truly lovely things for the holidays. My favorite are the glass trees that light up. Hands down the best thing this year for my holiday decorating. I was also able to pick up some faux succulents and moss for a display I am doing. Also, the flicker candles are the same but a huge difference in price to PB. A big savings! The staff never treated me with what I like to call, Covid 19 rudeness. Great store for culinary items including measures and gift foods such as rhubarb jam which is difficult to find elsewhere. Purchased my antiqued metal bed frame here and years later I still love it! A little on the pricey side but these items are built to last. My previous bed frame was from Ikea and goodness gracious I will not do that again! The wood was gorgeous new but when we had the carpet replaced in the house the wood got chipped and nicked and it became apparent that it was high quality particleboard in lieu of hardwood. Call me old fashioned, but I would much rather save up to purchase something that will hold up to normal wear and stand the test of time. read more

Wanted to pick my online order up in store and was told I needed to use curbside. Went to curbside and have been waiting here for almost 30 minutes. Have tried to contact the store for an ETA and no response. I'm by myself and am hesitant to leave my car to go back up to the store in case they're on their way to me and I miss them. Ridiculous service and wait for curbside. Two other cars have been waiting down here for a while as well... To be clear, as soon as they told me I needed to use curbside I clicked the "I've Arrived" button on the email for pick up and my email indicated that they were preparing it and would bring it down. It's just happened that we stopped in to the Costa Mesa store and began walking around hoping to find this unique raised cutting board. While browsing the aisles we were greeted by Wendy. Immediately you couldn't help to notice her warm smile and friendly demeanor. I ordered a dining table and 4 chairs on March 17, 2022. It's July 8th today and I've been told for the 4th time that the order has been delayed again. 4x!!! At what point do I just decide to give up and cancel our order. I feel like we are pot committed at this point but I'm utterly disappointed and will never recommend Crate & Barrel to anyone. This will be our very last time we ever step foot in this store and will refuse to shop here again. After having a horrible customer service experience at another store inside Crystal Court, I can appreciate the customer service at this Crate & Barrel store. Every time my husband and I have entered this store, we have been greeted by a sales associate and asked if we needed any help. On this one particular day, we were interested in a dining bench, so the sales associate called another associate from the upstairs furniture section of the store to come down to help us. We told him we could just go up to the furniture section, but he insisted that the associate would come down to us. Within seconds, the furniture sales associate came down to us, escorted us to the upstairs furniture section, and proceeded to help us with measurements, color choices, styles... She was very patient with us as we deliberated between all of these elements. After we made our decision, she rang us up and said the bench would be ready for pick up within seven days. We were notified about five days later that the bench was ready for pick up so my husband and I went to the store, buzzed the ringer from the garage and carted the bench home. Once we got home, we assembled the bench only to find that it didn't quite match our dining table. A few days later, we went back to the store, buzzed the ringer from the garage and said we needed to make a furniture return. We told the guy that we had already assembled the bench and threw away the box. He told us, "No problem!" They refunded the money for the bench with no hassle. I am completely impressed with this Crate & Barrel store because of their friendly and helpful sales associate team and their hassle-free return policy. read more

don't have one by us so went to an outlet one in Alexandria VA as it was across from our hotel. Everything in there so plain and generic. Prices "reasonable" I guess but I checked out the quality. Since it's an outlet, everything was even lower price I guess. But 9.99 for a plain white bowl/pottery the same quality I see in the dollar store doesn't seem to be a great deal. Things made in china; fabrics thinner. Reminds me of IKEA quality. It's not think this is a luxury brand and found nothing in there non generic. Glassware, pans/dishes, lamps whatever. The only nicer items was a couple of the cooking utensils but 24.95 for a whisk is a lot???? No thanks. I bought nothing read more

It just keeps getting worse and worse. Several items are delayed again. No communication or response for anyone. The only reason I know items are delayed is because I continue to check on my order. I have tried reaching out to the store and spoke to the furniture manager. She promised she would call me back, but no response. This is the third time in the past three months I have tried to request help from the store with no response. I have also tried calling the store on a number of occasions but no one answers the phone. I know these are challenging times and I have a lot of empathy for retail businesses. I would be a lot more understanding if someone would communicate and support me. I am so beyond disappointed with this experience. I can't wait until this whole bad experience is over, but with all the delays, who knows when that will happen. read more
