    I ordered this bed with the nail heads on the couch in showroom.

    On October 30, 2021 my husband and I ordered a custom Colton Cal King Headboard with Design Consultant, Shijun 'Peter' Li. We spent about a hour selecting the details and I explained to him exactly what we wanted in a headboard and why. It was very important that the fabric and nail heads of our new headboard matched the Ethan Allen footboard and side rail that we already have. Our previous headboard was damaged and we were only looking to replace the headboard. We communicated this to Peter and even took pictures of a couch in the showroom to confirm that the 'antique gold' nail heads would match the pieces that we already had at home. The total sales order including the $199 delivery charge and sales tax was $2,222.88. In December 2021 I received a call that the headboard was ready to be delivered but when it was uncovered it did not have the nail heads that I requested so I did not accept delivery. I contact Peter and he advised that he would take care of it. I patiently waited and 2/8/22 he emailed 'The nail head our workroom can add on the headboard, our company offer the special accommodation price is $875 (the labor and parts).' I was very clear when I placed my order that I wanted the nail heads however Peter placed the order wrong so I asked him to cancel the order and issue a refund because I refuse to pay the additional amount to fix his mistake and $3,100 is rather excessive for just a headboard and that was not the price he originally quoted me. On 2/20/22 I emailed Peter to follow-up on the refund and Peter sent me a email to advise, 'Donna, I have checked with our operation manager, she said already complete the refund processing and you should get a refund these couple of days.' Once again I did not receive the refund and followed up with Peter AGAIN on 3/8/22 and he called 3/12/22 to advise that the refund had not been issued and that a 20% restocking fee would be subtracted from the refund. I am requesting a full refund as soon as possible. Not only did Peter Li screw up my order, Ethan Allen is also trying to change me for his mistake. I am furious with Peter and Ethan Allen and will never shop there again. This has been a horrible experience!

I was left stuck with furniture I now have to dispose of myself -- completely defeating the purpose of the service. If haul-away depends on arbitrary judgment calls, customers should be warned upfront. Very disappointing experience. Update: I understand the policy explanation provided, but in this case there were no live insects or evidence of an actual issue. Refusing service based on what was described as "skeletal remains" felt like an overly rigid and unreasonable application of that policy. Policies are important, but so is practical judgment, and this experience lacked that balance. For context, finding something like a spider remnant in an older box spring is not unusual and does not indicate an infestation. Treating it as such and refusing service was not a reasonable interpretation of the situation. This policy, or at least how it is applied, needs to be reviewed.
