What a sad day to realize that a company you have always liked and done business with over the years is no longer a viable option. As the customers below have indicated, if you purchase anything from them you will be in world of pain. Purchased a stock chair in May 2021 and still not delivered. They will not cancel stating it was a custom order (it was not) and now that the chair is ready for delivery the charged the full amount. They state they can't deliver until Dec (6 weeks away). This place is way out of my price range, but boy howdy do I love their stuff. I just bought a bookshelf with a nifty built-in desk, which was just the thing the wall in my apartment was missing. I have long been a fan of Crate & Barrel so when they finally opened here I was excited. They have lots of nice stuff of great quality at mostly good prices. OK the furniture is expensive but it is also really well made. The furniture is upstairs, most everything else is downstairs. Its a fun place to look and I always find things I want. One of the great things about CB is that they get items that are just a bit different then the stuff everyone else is selling. If you are lucky you will find what you want on sale! The two problems with this store are: 1 Location- please open Downtown? I am not holding my breath Seattle still has to drive to Bellview for their's. 2. Parking- the parking around the store is limited and fills fast. My plan of attack when I come? I park in the parking lot behind the theater and hike back. On the way I meet my Parents at the California Pizza and get their BBQ chicken pizza so good. Then freshly fueled I start wandering the store! read more

Here you'll find me in between heaven and hell, my dear. The self-inflicted torturous truth is that I'm a glassware addict. I insist on having the appropriate wine/bar/everyday glass for whatever the occasion dictates and it seems like there is always something new to add to such a collection. However my saving grace is the very affordable drink ware line here at C&B. Individual glasses range from 95 cents to $12.95, making a stylish set of 12 for entertaining anywhere from 12 to 150 bucks. Of course aside from this small corner of the store, you'll find everything else you'd need to set your dining table, fill your kitchen, and accessorize your home and office. And for those really taken in by the Crate&Barrel world, there is a full array of furniture to complement your existing domestic pieces, or be the new star of the show. Overall the average price tag is on the higher end of affordable, but from what I have experienced products here are made to last and sit as little works of art in their own respect. Those I know who also frequent here have mentioned thinking of ways to show off their investments. Some even admitting to have left all the lights burning but nobody's home. Like the other reviews, I cannot stress enough how great it is to get help from the employees here. As I slowly pick up pieces to add to my apartment currently in storage and mentally furnish my future dream home the no pressure staff is around with ideas and brochures to aid in the process. It's definitely becoming an increasingly dangerous place for this girl to be with a debit card and a freshly cut paycheck. This may very well be the largest Crate & Barrel that I have ever been in. The customer service is incredibly good, I was blown away. I had to return a few duplicates that I received from my wedding registry but couldn't find all of the receipts. They took the items back and I got a full refund that they happily added to a gift card that I had. I was more than happy with a store credit. What is really awesome about the store is the floor model/final sales that they have. I scored this amazing black wood set of drawers for my office that was about $200 off and did not have one single mark on it. Then when I told a sales woman what I was looking for, she literally walked me through everything that may match what I was looking for which was great because the store is huge. I found this really cool red cabinet that I am just in love with. Anyway, the stuff was too big to fit in my car and delivery would have taken much longer than I was ready to wait. So, my husband and I rented a van and went to pick it up. Much cheaper than delivery, it is fairly pricey to have stuff delivered. After I picked it up the sales woman even called me to make sure everything worked out OK. Super nice...that was after she had offered to have her husband drive the stuff over to my house which was slightly odd but incredibly nice all the same. I love this store.........and plan to go back there very soon. I really love my new furniture! It is totally worth the price. read more

I ordered an Axis sectional and swivel chair October 1st, 2014. I was told by the sales person that it would take 2 1/2 months max to get the order. I was ok with that thinking I would most likely have it by Christmas... more than 2 1/2 months away from order date. I called 4 times to check on the order. I was told 4 times someone would call me back. After the 4th call, someone called me back a week after they said they would. When the sales person called me back she said it would not be in until the beginning of January. That's a bummer but ok, I can wait. then she said I needed to pay in full in order to confirm deliver.... after I had already paid 1/3 of the total.... So, as I understood, I paid for something I didn't have and that I had to wait 3 weeks longer than expected.... they had all my payment and I had nothing....... NOT a policy that makes happy customers....a customer that spent over 6000$ on a sectional I didn't get to use over the holidays. read more

Buyer beware! Advertised price may be less than what you are forced to pay. I called to order a tv stand while on sale knowing that they didn't have one on the floor. I was very surprised to learn that due to the size of the piece 75" long, I had no choice to pick up the piece, but instead have to pay $99 for delivery. I've got a vehicle that's capable of picking up this size piece and I'm certainly willing to move myself to save a cool $100. I had bought an outdoor set previously and picked up out in North Portland which I have learned they no longer have the warehouse space. Interesting that they make the customer pay for their inability to store furniture that they are selling. It's changed my whole mind about the place. I'm bummed, because I do like their furniture, but won't put up with what i see as deceptive pricing and poor customer service. read more

5 stars for the thoroughness of the lady who took my slightly large phone order. She was definitely really slow/missed the number sequence to my credit card like five times, but she got the information all correct after a while, pulled my order to verify that they had it, and said to have it waiting for my brother to pick up the next day for his birthday present 1200 miles north of my San Diego self. Luckily, when he went in to pick it up, it was a very no hassle situation, and they even offered to wrap it up for him since it was a gift. Nice people! AND I got a card in the mail from them today with my receipt in it but a genuine "thank you card" that really made me smile. Great experiences dealing with the one in San Diego and this Crate and Barrel. This company rocks. read more

This place only gets 3 stars based on my recent experience. I bought a new lounger/couch and had it delivered. The way they pack/ship their couches is insuffiencient. The company had to replace my couch 3 times as each of them had shipping damage. 14 weeks after my order, I finally have an undamaged couch! I've been to this location several times. I'm pleased that Crate and Barrel opened a store in Oregon. I'm used to seeing Crate and Barrel almost everywhere, because we recently moved from Chicago. The customer services is 9 out of 10. The management is a bit up tight, but majority of the staff is friendly and sincere. I witnessed management talking down to a staff member in a disrepectful tone. Like all Crate and Barrel locations, they are helpful with shipping, finding items and fulfilling registry lists. I'm grateful that Crate and Barrel understood our moving situation and redirected the Chicago bound order to our new Portland address with no fuss. I was expecting to plea for my order, but Crate and Barrel made it smooth and effortless. Stay away from this store during the weekend! Parking is a headache! read more

I have worked retail for many years and I am appalled at their customer service and how disrespectful they were. I have truly never encountered a more rude team. We've also spent thousands of dollars at CB. I spoke with one visual team member who was kind and empathetic. But the rest of the team was far from competent or helpful at all. After days of back and forth, no one was able to help us figure out a solution for our missing piece (which was fully their fault). We wanted to get in contact with the store manager but we were told there was no contact for them, we could leave a message and we might get a call back (which we didn't). We attempted to get it handled with their customer service associate, Sally, she was the most disrespectful and demeaning associate I've ever spoke with and refused to take any ownership. We called back to speak with any manager and the associate kept repeating "crate and barrel how may we help you" when I asked who I was speaking with she repeated "crate and barrel how may we help you". She said this 3/4 times. (I actually thought there was a poor phone connection) I asked one more time who I was speaking with and she repeated her line. I finally asked WHAT IS YOUR PERSONAL NAME. Which she responded slurred and unable to hear. This store is a joke. I really hope their team can pull it together because we do love their product but not worth dealing with such an incompetent, disrespectful team. read more

What is amazing about Crate & Barrel is that there is nothing really "special" in the store - except some customer service. PAY ATTENTION HERE: The only thing Crate and Barrel offers that the discount stores don't offer is CUSTOMER SERVICE. Everything that is sold at Crate & Barrel is also available EVERYWHERE else - from K-Mart, Target, Costco, Bed Bath & Beyond,r Fred Meyers, etc...... and at a lower price. Great customer service if you're upstairs in the furniture section, however if you're downstairs awkwardly carrying a lot of small items in your arms desperately looking for a basket you'll be largely ignored. The 2-story store is a tad cramped, but it is clean, bright and comfortable. I ordered a teapot 6/5/2020 and it still shows "preparing for shipping". I been calling 3 days in a row and waited 2 hours!! on the phone, no answer. Again I called again this morning at 10:00 AM waiting for 1 hour finally entered my phone number for a call back. It's now 4:08 in the afternoon no call back!! All I want to do is cancel my order. Sometimes you just gotta go see what good design is. Most of us can't afford anything that is not a single butter knife in this place, but if you did buy, you get the feeling that it would last (or else they'd take it back if it didn't). The layout is nice, just don't let your young child loose in the housewares area! The staff are not pushy - they hang back until you look like you might need help. The only real bug for me is that sometimes the department store layout is nicer than the modular layout they are using now because it's easier to know when you've seen "all the blankets" they offer or to know when you've been able to choose from "all the desks" and prices associated with each. But, it's also nice to see these things in a more natural habitat of what the designers intended us to see... The colors are contemporary and the materials are very nice. You want to touch everything in this store because the wood grains and fabric textures are all so interesting. When you need that special rug or the investment dining room table or the coffee maker that you can't get anywhere else from a place with a great return policy and pleasant shopping experience, then go here. If you don't, step in anyway and take a moment to get caught up on how you should aspire to keep your interior living spaces designed. Just don't let yourself go broke! read more

Store is fine in TIGARD, Oregon. However, we ordered thousands of dollars worth of furniture and then were poorly treated during delivery. First, they failed to put the furniture on the truck and did not even advise the truck it was not loaded on it until the truck arrived at our house after we waited all morning for the item to be delivered. After that debacle, the warehouse agreed to deliver the furniture the next week in the morning as we had appointments in the afternoon. However a few days before delivery, the warehouse called and said the furniture would be delivered in a few days in the afternoon. When I objected, saying I was told the delivery would be in the morning, the scheduler told me she did not understand why someone would tell me the furniture could be delivered in the morning as there was no guarantee. When I told her we would have to reschedule the delivery to another day, she became very unhappy and complained that she was going to have to call the warehouse at the last minute to tell them not to load my furniture for the delivery. Finally, the warehouse called me almost a week later and said they would deliver my furniture in another week and a half later, but gave me no indication about whether it would be in the morning or afternoon. Very disappointing! UPDATE: I immediately Sent a DM to this vendor after receiving the message below and have not been contacted. read more

I selected Crate & Barrel for my wedding registry and wish I had just chosen Target. Many items I received by mail were damaged and I had to take them back to the store (30 minute drive out of my way) to return and reorder. I had to order and return a marble soap dispenser twice because it came broken each time. I had a few gift cards, so I ordered some pricier picture frames online and had to pick them up in store. Luckily I checked to make sure I was walking away with the correct items because one of my frames had been swapped out for a cheaper/smaller one. I explained the mistake to an older woman working at the register and her response was literally "well, what am I suppose to do about it?" ... Seriously? Isn't it your job to fix it? Then I had to point out in painstaking detail that the SKU numbers on the box didn't match up with the receipt. I eventually ended up getting the right item, but there was no apology for almost making me do a round trip and for wasting my time babysitting sales associates. I won't be shopping here again and I regret using Crate & Barrel for my wedding registry. read more

The store in Tigard is fine. My husband and I registered there for our wedding. We had great experiences so decided to order an expensive piece of furniture to be delivered. The associate told us it wouldn't be delivered for about 2 months. We thought that was fine. We were persuaded to open a credit card to get a discount. I got a temporary card and then the real card came in the mail. Shortly after, I got an email saying there was an issue with our payment and if I didn't call them our order would be cancelled. I called to give them the permanent card and was asked if I wanted to schedule delivery. I said no, I needed to talk to my husband (he can work from home, I can't) and I'd call back. When I called back, they had scheduled the delivery for a day/time that did not work for us without our approval. When we tried to change the day/time they said we would be charged $35. Shortly, thereafter, we were told the furniture was not available and we'd have to reschedule. I got upset, so was given a $50 discount and was told we could pick the next delivery date. We chose a Friday, and my husband arranged to work from home. On Thursday we called because we hadn't heard about a timeframe and were told the delivery would actually be on Monday. I've now cancelled the order, asked for a full refund and will make a point to encourage friends and family not to waste their time at Crate and Barrel. For their outrageous prices you'd expect better service. I think I'll stick to more local establishments that actually seem to care about their customers. read more

Crate & Barrel has signs posted all over that say they will match the prices of other stores and websites. I saw something I wanted listed at $99.99, and I found it on Amazon for $74.50. Just to get the price matching process started, I had to wait forever for a manager, who immediately said "I can't honor this because it's a Prime deal" (which it wasn't). I showed him that it wasn't and after keeping me waiting even longer and calling some other place, he said "I can't honor this because it's sold by XYZ company and fulfilled by Amazon" (the signs say they will match any web site). Well okay, if you buy it through Amazon from Amazon by Amazon, the price is still only $74.86. I decided to give them two stars instead of one because they finally honored the $74.86, but their price-match promise is very misleading and they make up a wide variety of random excuses to avoid honoring it, battling you even down to the last 36 cents. They do not have any obligation to offer price matching, but since they choose to advertise that they do offer it, they should honor it without hassling you. read more

Crate & Barrel is part of the Hell known as Bridgeport Village. For a while I've been meaning to get by to check out their furniture. (C&B actually has stuff that isn't made in China; in fact, if you go to their Website, you can type USA in the search window and it will pull up all sorts of goodies made here.) I had some time to kill while waiting to see "Avatar" again (in 3-D this time--OH WOW), so I wandered over, but when I walked in the door, fumes smacked me full in the face. I'd had this experience before: the first time I went to IKEA, the off-gassing was so strong that I felt sick for the next 24 hours (I called it the IKEA Syndrome, not to be confused with the Stockholm Syndrome, yuk yuk). At C&B I decided to tough it out, and the fumes on the first floor were less severe once I was clear of the entrance. They were having a floor sample sale today, and I spotted a chest of drawers that looked workable. I walked up to it, pulled the top drawer open, and bam--I got another blast of fumes from the cheap, treated wood. Ugh. A bit lightheaded now, I allowed myself to be conveyed upstairs by the softly creaking escalator. After about 5 minutes I was feeling even worse, and I was relieved to see a door leading out to the area where C&B's patio furniture is displayed. I stuck my face outside and breathed in the cool, clean, damp air, vaguely wondering if anyone would notice my strange behavior. I decided to fake considering the outdoor offerings, even though they would never work on my little balcony. When I felt I was okay to continue, I finished touring the floor, giving several of the headboards a gentle push, just to see how sturdy the beds were. The verdict: not very. I also noted the number of tags with the words "Ready To Assemble." Now, why the heck would I want to shell out hundreds and hundreds of dollars for a piece of furniture I have to put together myself?? Oy. I remember when I was a poor college student. Back then, I thought the furniture and housewares in the Crate & Barrel catalog were really something, signifiers of a comfortable, secure life. And that they may be. Lucky for me, though, I can see past the surface now. And one time feeling like Julianne Moore in "Safe" is enough. I should probably go to Eco PDX. read more

Love CB style and furniture, but the process to get a piece of furniture has been brutal. Ordered a dining table in July and delivery was supposed to be delivered first week of November. I called (not them) at the delivery timeline and was told it would be another 1-2 months, meaning no dining table to use at Thanksgiving when the reason we ordered in July was to get ahead of it. My new delivery was confirmed for mid-December with delivery company, of which no one showed up on the day of delivery after coordinating my work schedule. Not a call, not a reschedule, nothing. Called that day and the next and was told they don't know what happened, but I was one of 6 people this happened to in the order. I ended up having to call 4 times to get a straight answer. While the customer service agent was kind, their "solution" after "speaking with management" was to have us wait a full extra week for a reschedule. I really don't think that's a good solution or a solution at all...Not close to the experience you want as a customer, especially after paying $150 in shipping/handling. Would need a good reason to continue shopping here after many years of it being our favorite store. read more

I had a fantastic experience the two times I visited this C&B store. This location is a very bright and well appointed C&B, much nicer than the mall versions I recall back east. The bottom floor is full of a frequently rotating kitchen, dinning and household goods selection that is neatly laid out. I really appreciated the flow as I moved through seasonal offerings, mainly holiday stuff. It's also got fantastic deals on kitchen supplies, egg timers, all that wacky stuff you sometimes need. The upstairs is terrific, lots of dreamy couches to try out and some very cool ideas have been applied to my home via the C&B staging at this location. Using this store as the spot we set up our registry couldn't have gone smoother. They even gave us a sweet heart shaped bowl as a gift for registering, and were fantastic at shipping everything to us super quickly. We even got a completion discount, for those items we still needed following our wedding. The prices here were also wide reaching enough that I didn't feel silly asking for our wedding guests to select only high priced items. Overall, I'd highly recommend C&B in general, and hope that they consider developing some other PDX outposts that are a little easier to get to. read more

Yes it is expensive. But I still go back and and blow money. This review is really for Michael who works upstairs in the "Furniture Collection." I ordered 4 leather barstools. I went to the store to pick up my order but they arrived in the wrong color. That's ok. We all make mistakes. My correct barstools were re-ordered and delivered to my house for no extra charge. Michael called me to apologize (he wasn't there when I arrived to pick up the first order) and I simply appreciated the call. I have purchased quite a few items from both sections of the store. They have the worst return policy ever. I bought the wrong sized sheets here and was never given a receipt at time of purchase. The register was out of paper or whatever. No big deal right? A few weeks later I tried to return them and it's been one BS story after another. I switched banks during this time so no longer had my bank card. I showed them a copy of my bank statement; no luck. The statement showed the transaction, date, time, amount etc. They basically told me to shove my $219 sheets and deal with the loss. read more

Went here for some Christmas shopping. The whole place is massive. Two floors, with elevator and escalator. (Important to me because of my sprained left foot) First floor is Christmas land. I absolutely love the displays and placements of the Christmas decors. Organized and efficient. For a very busy Saturday, nothing is out of place or askew. There were plenty of staff that was helping on the floor. Friendly, but not pushy, compared to other comparable stores. I was pleasantly surprised they have a lot of affordable dinnerware and other kitchen must-haves. There are so many beautiful and also useful items! Second floor is all about furnitures, designs and house decor. From a coffee table to a bathroom trash can, its all here. They recently have been offering free in store design consultations, which means, if you recently moved into a new place, someone can sit with you and discuss how you want, say for example, the living room to look and feel. So many swatches and fabric samples, it's amazing. All in all, I think there were 3 check out counters on the first floor, and two upstairs. Even with all the people that were there Christmas shopping, it didn't take too long for me to check out with my goodies. Purchased 8 folio chocolate leather chairs in 2009. First chair started melting off the color in 2009. thought is must be our fault so turned it in and paid for a new, higher priced replacement. Now 4 more chairs are virtually melting off the color on the top of the chairs. This is not real dyed leather, as advertised. It is paint on leather. Chairs look awful. No satisfaction from the store. They actually want us to pay a re-stocking fee. These chairs should be replaced. read more

I love this place!!! I got a coffee set from my friend for my wedding gift few month ago, and i wanted to get same set for dinner ware so this come up me to visit in there with my husband. Every kitchen equipments are awesome and there are alot of functional equipments with modern&contemporary style that i liked. I usualky see the style and design of dinner plates and bowls, and most of style was simple and clean. I wanted to get everything! It is fancier version of IKEA. I like their down stair sections. They have varieties of kitchen stuff. Staff are always friendly and very helpful. That's for two stars I'm giving. Upstairs tho. What's wrong with all staff there? Everyone acts like they are better than customers. Like last month, my high school daughter and her friends were shopping with me. They were touching sofas and bed and giving complement how soft they are and stuff. Here this lady comes and said "um, girls. If you are not buying them, please don't touch them with your dirty hands. This is not the place to just to hang, or kill time while your parents are shopping." I guess this lady didn't know i was behind her. Was she surprised? I think so. "Oh! I was just thinking how well behaved daughters you have!" I could do nothing but rolling my eyes at her and leave. Or today when my mom was shopping for a new rug, (I suggested to go somewhere else but she wanted to check out their stuff), this lady came and said "are you just looking?" instead of "how may I help you?" Again, I rolled my eyes and just left. Very sad this kind of customer service (or i should say these employees) brings down a lot of good things about this place. Like i said, downstairs customer service is wonderful! I just don't understand those employees who are so mean to customers. The company is not even theirs.
