This is a quaint little spot in Springfield MO that we stopped on our way to the lake. We wanted to get something better than the fast casual restaurants offer but didn't want a long wait with dog in the car. Place looks like an old fast food diner turned into a quaint dining spot. The tall counter is still there with open views from dining room to chefs cooking area. In site, must be right! We were very pleasantly surprised by the menu and resulting dinners. My client told me to go to this local restaurant and that I must try it out. It was a small space with limited seating. Like a little chill spot. You can see the cook in the kitchen firing the food up from the table seating. Cool view. The waitress was very attentive. She said the lunch menu always get change up. I love pasta so the only thing on the menu was the Smack and Cheese. My lunch date and I both choose that pasta. She got beef tips and I got the grill charred chicken. Their pasta dish didn't come with any bread which was different. Portion size was ok since it was lunch. Needless to say, the food was very very salty. I'm not sure if it was just my tongue having weird taste buds, but I ask my friend and she said it was salty too. She was too hungry so she already killed most of her meats not the pasta. I really try to get some more bite, but man I think the cheese sauce probably were over simmer or maybe they pour extra salt? I didn't even bother to tell our waitress. It was a long day and I was hungry and tired. I just took the rest to go. I also order the lady killer burger togo for my bf and give him my Mac and cheese. He try my food and ask if I added salt to it. The salt really got me dehydrated and I felt a bit sick later. People was nice, but the food today wasn't good. Not a cheap place for lunch, i would recommend the cook to try their food before serving it. Don't know if I will be going back. $93 total plus tips for 3 meals and a coke. We were in town for a couple of days. My granddaughter is a big foodie. I wanted to find a place that was unique and had food that was better than average for dinner. This place knocked it out of the park ! Not only is the place very unique but the food was great ! I always love coming to Springfield. So many great restaurants and places to enjoy great food and drink. Wanted to try something new and thanks to YELP I found Split Social Kitchen. It's more than a little gem, it's a gold mine! Very casual and small bistro tucked in on the corner. All high top tables in a very laid-back atmosphere. Amanda was a great hostess/waitress. The food was exactly like all of the yelp reviewers pictured and promised. I had the tuna bombs and my friend had the brussels sprouts and beef tips. I will definitely be returning on my next trip to enjoy some of the other great menu items. The bathrooms are a hilarious throw back to the 80s - don't miss them Go early if you want to belly up to the bar or table. I was really excited to try Split. Little hole in the wall with an interesting menu. There were a few choices on the menu I was wanting to try, but I sort of let the waiter talk me into what boiled down to fried chicken with mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy with fried green beans. It was... Fine? It wasn't seasoned much. Frying the green beans was super unnecessary. I feel like this is a meal someone would order if they had just gotten back from the jungle and they hadn't had traditional brown American food in a while. Our first visit was for a late lunch with husband and daughter. He ordered the pad Thai ramen bowl. He described it as "good". Not great. Big portion but for $36, overpriced. Daughter and I both had French onion soup. It was pretty good, mostly cheese and big chunks of bread but also a bit overpriced at $11 or $12. Ambiance is dive bar. Quirky and probably really fun at night but the restaurant is quite small. Service was very good and friendly. No issues there. I just felt it was overpriced for pretty average food. read more

Sadly, this was not the case. My order The Fickle Pickle came with a fried chicken sandwich, 12 fries and six fried pickles. The chicken was small and overcooked to the point of almost burned. There was an enormous amount of ranch dressing on it, so much so that the bun was extremely soggy even though it had been toasted. The cost is 23.00 before tax and tip. Tuna Bombs and the Salmon Salad. We stumbled upon this place and it's absolutely incredible. Ahi tuna and salmon were cooked to perfection. The flavors were so unique and delicious. The menu is one of the most unique ones I e seen in a while. My husband is not one to go with Yelp too much but I talked him into this. It's just a small little place at the end of a little strip mall. You can watch your food being prepared if you want. It is a bar like atmosphere so the music was a little loud, but it was older tunes, like the 80's, I think, so it wasn't too bad. And the two dishes we ordered were delicious! Talk about don't judge a book by its cover! This unassuming, little storefront restaurant is one of the best kept secrets in Springfield dining. There's a pub-like, familiar atmosphere enhanced by the open kitchen. We dined with a group of friends on a Saturday night and it was a first experience for all of us. Everyone left impressed with the presentation, taste and quality of the food. Portions are large, so take the word "Split" in the name to heart. Most dishes on the menu are best shared with others. Don't go in expecting a stuffy service. Embrace the busy atmosphere. We started with the Princess Presley salad and my husband commented that this wasn't the type of salad he typically liked, but it was excellent and it made him a fan. We split other dishes such as the Maria, the Diva, and Crabby fries with the table. The Crabby Daddy fries will live in my dreams forever. I observed the owner engaging with customers at table touches and also performing quality control checks right there at the expo window.
