We waited 45 minutes for a tomato bisque, a grilled cheese, and a club sandwich. That's not a typo. Three basic cafe items. 45 minutes. What made it worse was that there were people who came in after us got their food before us. My wife and I had to "check in" 3 times over 45min to get our food and by the time they were ready with our food we had to ask for a to go bag because we had to go back to work. So it's raining and I walked a mile to come grab breakfast as the hotel staff told me if I wanted breakfast this was THE spot - I walked in and the lady behind the counter couldn't make eye contact - when I said "oh - no breakfast?" she laughed and was zero help "any idea where I may be able to go to grab breakfast?" another snort "nope". This place is a joke. I and a couple of coworkers showed up at about ten to noon to have some coffee and discuss a few business matters. We were not allowed to sit in the dining area unless we ordered food. Fair enough. Even before we walked in, one of my co workers and I were going to order food to go after the meeting with the third coworker. So I offered to just order the food up front, but we were told we were still not allowed to sit in the dining area unless we ate in the dining area. We did our meeting on the designated bench, truncated by the unwillingness to afford us any basic human decency to sit in the dining area even though we had ordered the coffee. Here's the absolutely crazy part...the dining area was completely EMPTY the entire time we were there. Noon. During business lunch in downtown. My coworker and I ended up buying lunch somewhere else. I have never left a Yelp review, and never felt compelled to leave one until now. The lack of courtesy and common sense and any wherewithal business sense is baffling. This is the cutest little downtown cafe ever. I'm so glad I randomly stopped in with a friend when I did. While the dine-in service is still on hold due to COVID, the takeout experience was fast, friendly, and once I got home to eat, it was delicious. I ordered a hot coffee with lavender (my favorite) and the breakfast burrito. It didn't take too long to be prepared and once ready, they wrapped it up really tight so it would stay warm during my walk back home. The burrito was great as it was, I didn't need to add meat or anything. Lightly scrambled eggs, this amazing crispy potato cake thing, cheese, and salsa. Simple and yummy! I would order this again in a heartbeat. While this spot is currently only open Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, I'm so glad to see that they're still open and operating. I came here on a Friday a little before 9am for some breakfast. It wasn't busy, although I'm sure a lot of people come all the time for a quick breakfast or lunch throughout the day. There were two others dining in here and I saw a guy come in to grab coffee to go. I went up to the counter and ordered the burrito with a coffee. I added almond milk to my coffee which was fantastic! Great price for coffee. Seemed cheaper than Starbucks. The cup I got was the size of a grande. Lasted me a few hours. The burrito was filling! It had potatoes, eggs, pico de Gallo, and I added bacon. The potatoes still had a nice crunch to them. At a little over $8, I probably can't come often but it was a nice treat! Loved the space though! High ceilings, lots of natural light, earthy, plants all over, and lots of brown colors. Service was great! The lady greeted me with a smile! Their menu isn't extensive but I don't need a lot to impress me. They have baked goods as well and juices. Their coffee is from Thunderkiss which is a pretty good coffee, in my opinion. I've passed by this place a lot before moving to downtown. This morning, after lamenting that there are very few breakfast places downtown, I remembered Cravings and now here we are, iced tea and sammie in hand. I want to say a few disclosures before we get any further -- no shade thrown at Dan the Baker. His team knows their way around a brioche no prob. Now, moving on. The food is straightforward. No frills, outside of the emphasis on locally produced ingredients, from their bread to their coffee. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. A handful of regulars came in and I enjoyed that neighborly ambiance usually reserved for the burbs or small towns. I wanted to be part of that some day. They make their own syrups and from what I can conclude, their own sauces and aioli as well. (The best places do). The BLT&E I ordered for myself came on a brioche bun from DtB. While it was gorgeous in and of itself, I don't think it's the best choice for this sandwich. Brioche is delicate and layered and buttery and all those things are wonderful! But even with the toasted top and bottom, anything placed within brioche with any amount of liquid will seep into the bread and create a soggy texture (and quickly). Also (here's the sacrilegious part) I think the bun is too much for the sandwich. The focus is all on the bread, and little space left on the palate to enjoy the inside bits. I would suggest perhaps a crunchier bread, thinner, with a bit more fortitude for sandwich making. I'm sure Dan can bake one up for you. As far as the innards are concerned l, tasty, cooked well, good proportions of tomato, greens, aioli, and bacon. Usually not big on thick cut bacon, but this is cooked well and adds excellent texture to the sandwich. The price was reasonable for the entree especially if you take into consideration paying people livable wages and the cost of local products (support local however your can!) Finally, I ordered the jasmine green tea with half the amount of honey mint syrup they put in it and it was perfect! Would honestly just go back for tea, or see if they are open to experimenting with other bread varieties. read more

Cute place downtown in the midst of high rise work buildings. Only open for early breakfast through lunch. They have staples on their menu everyday, however, also do daily specials which are always great. And you don't want to miss on their daily baked goods either because they're top notch. Usually it's various cookies or bars available, however, on Fridays, they always have "bronuts" or brioche donuts (and sometimes brioche cinnamon rolls). So good. Ok, first thing you need to know about Cravings Cafe: if they have bronuts when you go, GET THE BRONUTS. They are brioche donuts with rotating flavors, and I've never been disappointed when I order one. They are open for breakfast and lunch Monday-Saturday. The breakfast/lunch sandwiches are served on their delicious brioche rolls. If you follow them on Instagram/Facebook, they will post weekly specials that are available all day. I've had a few of the specials so far (hello pimento chicken sandwich) and I'm always happy with my order. If you want something other than a sandwich, there are breakfast burritos, smoothies, and salads on the menu too. Parking can be tricky during the week, but it is super easy to find parking on Saturday. I'd recommend trying Craving Cafe, even if you do have to park and walk a little bit. I've walked past this place more than a few things, and finally decided to try it out for lunch. I got a burger and fries since you can't really go wrong with that. I liked the brioche bun and thousand island type dressing on the burger. The fries were more like home fries which I liked as well. It's a small place only open during the week, but if you take your food to go; there's some really nice outdoor seating across the street near the police headquarters. I picked the Downtown Smash Burger, a new offering to their menu, subbing for their Cheesesteak, perhaps? 1/4 lb. ground beef from Butcher & Grocer (in Grandview), American cheese, onion, pickle, and Craving's special sauce. Get a hamburger without fries, Gwen! NOT. Shoestring is the offering, here. Neat change from the mundane. Fantastic taste. Fresh-as-the-dickens, made in house, brioche bun. Soft and full of flavor (Craving's makes theirs with butter, mmmm)!! The special sauce was nothing negatively overwhelming, which I like. What a great find! I am so happy we stumbled upon this location on a Monday around 1pm. It's in a great in downtown Columbus. The atmosphere is very trendy- I love the exposed brick wall. On a chilly day after the lunch rush, this place wasn't busy, so we got our food fairly quickly. I had the Chicken Club and WOW was it delicious. The rosemary aioli is was really sold me and it definitely met my expectations. The best part, however, was the shoestring fries. They are absolutely addictive! I could eat a plate of just those and be perfectly happy. If you don't work downtown, parking is a bit challenging- there are some metered spots nearby, and there's also a garage a couple of blocks down from the restaurant. It's really great to see this place back open again. When I lived in Italian Village, it was sad to see them go, and while this place isn't the most convenient place for a lot of people outside of the downtown work world, I'd highly suggest stopping in. The space itself is much larger than the past one, which isn't saying a lot since there was only one or two tables in there before, but it's much easier to dine in now. They rotate a few of their baked goods, and since I can only get there on Saturdays, I guess I'll have to miss out on the Bronuts that are some of my favorites. Hopefully, they can get these going every day they are open at some point. The breakfast sandwich is just as good as I remember with a crazy good rosemary aioli that my girlfriend and I both loved. There does seem to be a lot of bread to sandwich, but the brioche is so light and fluffy that you won't really notice. I also had to order a cinnamon bun, and it has to be one of my favorite pastries in town. The frosting is so much creamier than other places - highly addictive. I'd imagine this spot isn't the easiest to get to during the work week if you aren't actually within walking distance based off my other experiences with cafes and restaurants down there. However, if you live in Grandview or the surrounding area like myself, it should be pretty easy to park right down there on a Saturday, and it only takes 5-10 minutes to get there. I was a little worried about whether they would reopen based on how long the cafe was closed, but it makes me happy that they followed through with their promise to customers and themselves. Cravings Cafe occupies a spot just up the street from the LeVeque, and directly across Front Street from the new city building. It's a relatively small and modest space, but bright and airy, and both the proprietors and the space itself exude a warm friendliness. Per their menu, they have both breakfast and lunch offerings; a mix of sandwiches, salads, and soup of the day, plus there were two scone options and a cookie option sitting on the counter when I walked in. The baked breakfast options rotate, depending on day of the week, so keep that in mind (I'll post a photo next time I'm there). I was there late in the afternoon looking for a pick-me-up to get me through the rest of the workday, so I went with a cup of Thunderkiss coffee and a Mexican chocolate cookie. Thunderkiss is one of the better locally-roasted coffee beans, and so it was no surprise that it was a flavorful cup of coffee, but more importantly the cookied was damned fine. Not too sugary, a tad bittersweet, and with a hint of chili pepper; it's the kind of cookie I will definitely be back for again. Cravings Cafe is in a part of the downtown short on food offerings in general, and particularly short on non-chain offerings, so it's a welcome addition to the neighborhood. I expect I'll be back here a lot, and if you work downtown, or are staying at the nearby LeVeque, you should consider coming, too. read more

Cravings is one of my favorite cafés in Columbus. Nearly everything they serve is made from scratch and it shows. They were a favorite of ours when they were in Italian Village and we're thrilled to see them open again, now in an up and coming part of downtown. Their menu is focused and tight, perfect for the downtown lunch crowd as you'll never wait more than 10-15 minutes for your food (and often you'll have it in less than 10). I'd heard about the burger and needed to check it out. I like thin smash patties a lot more than big, greasy, thick burgers, and Cravings has a smash burger. It's pretty good. Two thin and crispy patties dripping with melted American cheese and red onions (I left off the pickles) on a quality sturdy bun. Not the best I've had, but solidly good. It came with shoestring fries, the thinnest fries I think I've ever had. They tasted nice and the thinness led to a satisfying crispiness because they really had no insides that could get soggy. However, I think they were a little too thin, as eating one at a time would have taken all afternoon and grabbing a handful was a little hard to handle and to dip in ketchup. Overall, good food. I'd go back for lunch again. The space is nice. Nice wood floors, comfortable tables and chairs. The main wall of the dining room is unfinished and it looks a little abandoned-buildingy, but fine, whatever. Service was good. Counter service, but someone brings your food to your table. The woman who brought me mine was friendly and brought me napkins and ketchup. A beer would have been nice to wash down that burger, but no license. A La Croix was probably a better choice for lunch on a work day anyway, and since they're only open for breakfast and lunch, beer is probably not in the cards for the future. Solid experience. Cravings adds some nice diversity to the downtown lunchtime options and I'm glad they opened down here. I will be back. read more

Somehow, this was our first visit to Cravings. Let me just tell you - we have been missing out. We ordered a chai tea, coconut cream cold brew (), a blueberry bronut, and two breakfast rolls - one with a side of Greek hash. My husband and I both agreed that the breakfast rolls were maybe the best ones we've ever had - with thick cut bacon, melted cheese, an awesome aioli, a farm fresh egg & the best, butteriest brioche bun. It was obvious that Lindsay and her husband care deeply about their restaurant and work hard to keep it maintained as a beautiful experience and high-quality dining at an extremely reasonable price. Absolutely delicious and incredibly friendly staff/owners. The folks at Cravings Cafe were kind enough to allow us to host our post wedding brunch at their restaurant. They were gracious hosts and cranked out so much food for our group of 20-ish in a relatively short amount of time. Everything was perfectly cooked and was so very tasty! I was able to try their breakfast sandwich, the burrito and some donuts. Oh my... they are all "can't miss" items!
