So my son had a bad bout with croup the last couple of days and has been pent-up in the house. Today he's finally gotten a little life back in him so I figured I'd get him out of the house. We decided we'd go through the drive-through and get him a Happy Meal and then we would go to Cravin's for a treat afterwards. After the drive-through, about half way to Cravin's, my son realized his chocolate milk was frozen solid and he was THIRSTY after eating his salt infused Happy Meal. I told him we would get him some water when we got to Cravin's. So we get to Cravin's and my son, still pleading for water, promptly goes about selecting his treat. I go to the counter and ask the man for a glass of water where I could clearly see a faucet and cups behind him. The man paused momentarily and said that I could buy a bottled water. I told him I wasn't interested in buying a bottle of water, tap water would be just fine. After some calm exchange of dialogue between the two of us HE REFUSED TO GIVE US A GLASS OF WATER! By this time Charlie had picked out what he wanted and was ready to pay. But NO WAY WAS I GOING TO SUPPORT CRAVIN'S WHO REFUSED TO GIVE US A GLASS OF WATER!! I told my son to put his treat back and we would go somewhere where they could spare a glass of water. The man behind the counter (I assume the owner) responded, trying to plead his case that he was just trying to run a business, to which I responded "well you just lost mine" and walked out the door. SHAME ON YOU CRAVIN'S!!! We walked up the street to GOODY'S and I asked for a glass of water where the lady behind the counter answered with a cheerful YES and a smile on her face not even knowing if we intended on making a purchase! My son was having a hard time deciding what he wanted and the GOODY'S employee recognized his struggle and even offered him some FREE SAMPLES to help him decide!! THANK YOU GOODY'S!!! CRAVINS=NO FREE WATER GOODY'S=WATER WITH A SMILE AND FREE SAMPLES! So that's my story. You can do what you want with it. What nice people! We shared a kids gelato which was plenty. Got a mix of dark chocolate and coconut the pieces of macadamian nuts. Yummo! I recommend this place to stop in for a rest and get a treat. read more

The most fun candy shop I have ever been to. It was totally cute inside. They had tons of Candy! Old types of candy, new types of candy, every flavor Jelly Belly, twenty colors of M&Ms, a whole shrine to Willy Wonka, and the best music selection. The music was my favorite part of the experience. The songs were all about sweets, candy or sugar. It was great. Powell's did not disappoint the 7 year old girl still thriving inside me! read more

The gelato was awesome. I got the honey lavendar and the raspberry sorbetto which was a combination of perfection.

What a sugar shack! It is stacked with candy as far as the eye can see. They were playing the original willy wonka music when I was there. The husband and I bought cold glass bottles of soda to sip while strolling downtown. Didn't really get or want anything else but it was a nice shop to stop in. Ton's of candy to be had here. Powell's Sweet Shoppe is super fun and nostalgic for us. We always visit Powell's when we go to Bend. We also visited another location in Belmont Shore, California, and found it every bit as charming. There's a lot to look at here. We never buy a lot, but we always leave with at least a small bag of candy for our daughter, and a couple pieces for ourselves as well. read more

This is like going to Willie Wonka's chocolate factory. You walk in and you are speechless, surrounded by gelato, chocolate, M&M's, jelly beans, and every candy you can remember from your youth or imagine now in the world. Plus, they play the original willie wonka and the chocolate factory in the back of the store! Forget Bachelor, this is the place to take your kids in Bend, plus the adults love it, too. I found Uno bars, Abba Zabbas, PEZ, while my girls found every sour ball, sponge bob candies, New Moon chocolates, spray candy and everyhting you wish they wouldn't. SO fun! Kids LOVED the "decor" (aka candy and decor). Had a great time in here. BIG problem with customer service though. High schoolers or college students who could've cared less that any customer was there. In fact, one girl was SO rude to us as if she had never had a kid ask for change to use the cotton candy machine. I think I saw an eye roll. read more

A friend of mine from high school suggested that I check this place out since another friend from high school had relocated to Bend and opened this shop up. The place is lots of fun and has so much to offer in the form of candy. Then there's also the huge selection of gelato. Mr. Kupcakes and I got a bunch of throwback candies and some new ones we'd never tried. We loved the filled gummy whales and turtles. Make sure to get some while you are there. We brought an assortment of candies home to our daughter and Mom for taking care of our furred and feathered friends while we were out of town. They loved everything! If you like candy -- everything from bulk-bin toffees to gourmet chocolates -- then this is the place for you. I came for gelato and left feeling disappointed. The server was cute & friendly, but the gelato itself wasn't particularly good. Some flavors were so soft as to be runny, while others were so hard the poor girl could barely scrape a cupful out of the tub. This was my first time in Bend, and I sure hope someplace else sells better gelato. read more

Powell's is an institution in Bend, for the little ones anyway! Their selection is huge, and reasonably priced. There location is great with great restaurants nearby so a stop for dessert is a breeze. The staff are helpful and knowledgeable. Also, to top it off; Willy Wonka on repeat! read more

Good place, fun to visit. Lots of candy to choose from including candy from a different era (like bubblegum cigars and whatnot).

Every time we walk into Powell's my daughter does a dance with excitement. They have candy there that everyone can enjoy and relate to. The prices are and they have EVERY kind of candy. I took my 68 year old dad in there and he was so happy to see candy that he grew up with as a kid. That alone was worth it. read more

I absolutely love this place. It is a perfect, whimsical environment for children and families! They have a wide variety of candies and treats that are sometimes difficult to find elsewhere. They have a movie playing in the back, and toys and treasures left and right. They also have a gelato bat, and it is very good! Everything was extremely affordable and what I would call: low priced.
