For apps we got their excellent fried oyster nachos and a few orders of their pillowy freshly fried beignets. My list of places to try throughout my time here so far has grown so large that I'm starting to think I'll never get through it. Crawfish & Beignets was one such place, with a prominent presence in Chinatown with the support of the local community. They were among the highest on my list for a long while, but the subsequent deflating of the experience meant it was memorable for the wrong reasons. There were various things to made it more of a letdown, which included very slow service with a side of saltiness (#1) some 'tude, and a side of overpriced dishes. The latter was fueled by foodflation, but when coupled with the food blandness (#1), it becomes the worst kind of double whammy. My bowl 3 Ibs of mixed crawfish with crab legs and shrimp were a solid portion but the Cajun (mix) seasoning wasn't there. Even the extras of the potatoes and corn were bland, which prompted me to ask for additional seasoning and some spice. Ultimately, it wasn't worth the 45 minute wait. I also shared a number of appetizers with my group, which included beignets (fluffy, airy), fried rice (salty), boudin egg rolls (surprisingly tasty), calamari (so-so), and oyster nachos (best appetizer). It was all much more appealing than the crawfish that I subsequently had. One thing I'll always remember is the words etched along their wall in an attempt to be cute: "Peel me. Suck me. Pinch me. Repeat." I'm all for all of those things, but not here. This isn't because I wouldn't want to give them another chance, but because they're now closed. Even though my crawfish was only mild spice, it was still decently spicy to me. The crawfish were decently sized, my only complaint was that I didn't really have any sauce to dip it in. The restaurant also gave us a large tray of fried rice and wings. The wings came in 3 separate flavors: sweet chili, garlic butter, and fish sauce. I enjoyed both the fried rice and wings a lot, and there was plenty left for leftovers. Later the dentists at my table decided to order some beignets, with some condensed milk. We definitely needed to take advantage of this place while crawfish is still in season. You really can't go wrong with a place that has both viet-style crawfish and fresh beignets! We got some calamari for the table. Some pieces were light and crispy, while others were a little soggy. I'd probably save your wallet and stomach and order something else. The crab fried rice was pretty good. It took it to a whole new level if you mixed some of the sauce your crawfish comes in with it. I got crawfish with the Thai flavor in mild. Even though I'm a little wimpy when it comes to spice, I probably should've ordered a medium spice level. The crawfish came in piping hot in the bowl. The Thai sauce was good but I probably should've mixed it with garlic butter, there was a flavor it was missing. In some ways, it almost tasted like it was in a tomato juice. The garlic probably would've enhanced the flavor. The staff were very nice and consistently checked on us. We ended the meal with the beignets. They were so fresh, light and fluffy, a great way to end the meal. While I wasn't super impressed with this place, I'll also chalk it up to maybe I didn't order the correct combination of flavors. I did ask for it to be spicy but it wasn't, it was more mild. 3/5 * Beignets- very good. It came out hot & fresh. It was fluffy & soft on the inside. It paired well with the condensed milk. It wasn't too sweet which is perfect. 4/5 There were a few things that I didn't like about my dining experience. Here are the lists, 1. Although our server was nice he did seem annoyed at times. I also had to ask for water 3 times before getting it. 2. Considering this is the end of March (which means it's the peak season) the crawfish was small. I've been to other location & at this time the sizes are about medium/medium large. 3. Some of the crawfish was not purged correctly & was not clean. 4. My friend ordered a po boy and never got it, the server pretty much was like oh well it's too late to make it. 5. I don't like the fact that they add another $1 if you want to combine all three sauces together, definition of nickel & dime. Overall, the food was good enough for me to come back but it's a bit overpriced. The service was pretty lackluster considering it wasn't that busy. The crawfish is so small that it's not worth 9.99 a pound. My total came out to be $71 with gratuity, which I can't really complain since seafood is expensive but I don't think I got my moneys worth. Had another visit as I wanted their Thai Citrus flavored crawfish. A year after my last review, the food quality is still the same to me, as in it's still good. I got just a pound of crawfish and 1 snow crab cluster in Thai Citrus medium, with some beignets. I definitely enjoyed my meal and was happy the food quality didn't deteriorate. The scissors were a great help too. I did remove 1 star based off a few things that affected my experience. I did order 2 corns with my food, but I did not receive them. Although I wanted the corn, I could tell that I was getting full with my seafood. So I asked them to remove the corn from my ticket vs bringing it later. When the ticket came it was still on there so I asked them to correct it and they did. The other thing was that when I came in I waited for a host to seat me. One guy came from the back and tried to talk to me as he was walking across the room asking for how many. I wasn't about to yell back across the room so I walked over towards him. Then I waited a good 5 minutes before someone finally came over to take my order. They seemed a bit overwhelmed so I really let it all go but I hope they can improve on it. The last thing was I was sitting directly under the speaker and it was blasting explicit music with all kinds of profanity & sexual gestures. I guess it was background music for them but it sounded like I was in a club downtown and not at a family friendly restaurant. Glad I was able to try it with alot of fellow Yelpers at an unofficial gathering. Got the Crawfish N Shrimp mix, the bucket seems to be the popular option among the group. Some positives: Great flavors, garlic butter + Cajun was a great mix and love the spices. The parking was fairly convenient inside a large shopping center space in Chinatown. I like the 2 sinks in the dining room you can wash your hands without waiting for the bathroom. I wanted to try some other things on the menu but we did had to wait a long time for service and had to cancel some dishes that we waited 30+ minutes for. But it was a large group spread over 3-4 tables so I can understand. Would come back and try some other plates. Remember you we in the late summer months, so when I called I was surprised they still were serving crawfish.I asked for the Cajun style with no sauce, I'm from Louisiana we don't put all that sauce on our crawfish. Overall the taste was good but I couldn't really enjoy them due to the size being so small. As for as the shrimps, They were a good size however, most were overcook. It could have used a bit more sauce but I liked it. The servers were very helpful even when some random lady spilt a water on our table with her stroller. Came here with a group of my foodie friends for some crawfish. It was also a great opportunity to explore some new spots to me in Chinatown. C&B is located in a spacious shopping center with plentiful parking. The restaurant was pretty empty when I arrived but had a steady flow of traffic after. Customer service was excellent and speedy. I got an adult beverage to start which was nice and cold and a great addition to the rich food. I wasn't feeling crawfish as a main course so I went with lemon pepper wings and crab fried rice. The wings were piping hot and very flavorful. The crab fried rice was very delicious. I shared with my amigos and they really liked it as well. The crab came in large chunks and they were very generous with it as well. They added this little dollop of roe on top to give it this little umami burst. Excellent! I was a little on the full side but had to get the beignets because duh, it's in the name of the place. It took awhile to arrive but when they did you could feel the heat coming off of it. Let it cool down a tad before you dive it. I tried a bite as they came. It was good. I then added the condensed milk and honey they give on the side and that took it up a bunch of notches. Saw this place on Instagram and had to come try it out. Walked in was not greeted, sat at a booth but it was dirty. I asked the worker if I could have something to clean off but he suggested that we just move tables, ok cool. We ordered the kiwi-Rita which was actually pretty good not too strong, good sweetness. Next we ordered the crawfish (Thai) 10/10 and also tried the Krajun style which was also a 10/10. The crawfish had really good flavor and they were a really good size. It is not the best ever but it is definitely pretty good to crave and want. With this location, I love how spacious and clean it is. With the hand washing station in the back, love it! Don't have to go wait in line for the restroom if I want to just wash my hands. They also provide bibs and gloves complimentary. I like that I can come here during lunch hours to eat crawfish since the other crawfish joints mostly open for dinner service only. Flavors... My favorite go-to is now Krajun and Thai Citrus. The Krajun is off menu, the sauce is sautéed garlic butter, green onions, and white onions.Krajun is pretty addicting and a good blend of spices and flavor profile. Thai Citrus by itself Is a tad too sweet for my taste. But it is very addicting and therefore I go back and forth between Krajun and Thai citrus to balance each other. I also like the gumbo here! It's a bit pricey now over here: $10/lb. Also, the service can be improved upon. Both times we went, the place was extremely busy. It was thoroughly coated with batter, and hence why it came out so crispy. I did not care too much for the flavor, as it tasted pretty bland to me. There was no seasoning in the batter. It just tasted like plain cornmeal batter. The French fries were ok too but rather small in quantity. There are plenty of other restaurants in the area that specialize in fried seafood, so I will look into other options. At the end of the meal, we did have the beignets that came pretty warm and right off the grill with that sugar coating drizzle stuff (condensed milk syrup frosting). Honestly, the fried catfish didn't hit the spot at all. I think they could do better on the batter as it was bland and lacked that crunch that we were looking for. The iced Vietnamese coffee was a life saver for my horrendous hangover and our waters were always refilled. Waiters were all very kind and checked on us often. This is their new location and I'm glad they're back. It's in the same plaza as Vinh Hoa. Spacious plaza with plenty of parking and tables. It does get crowded throughout the day since it's in season. The staff were very welcoming and attentive, checking in on us very often. They even helped me put on my bib after I already started eating. Many great choices on the menu. We tried all the best flavors from garlic butter to lemon pepper. Although all were good, my favorite was the thai citrus. The seasoning was amazing with a sweet and spicy taste. After the crawfish, you should check out their beignets. We love it so much that we got three orders. Be careful because it's super hot. You have a choice of condensed milk or honey to go with the beignets. I would highly recommend the condensed milk over the honey since the honey was a bit too sweet on the beignets. Condensed milk was the perfect balance. I've been here twice now and have had great experiences both times! I'd been wanting to come to a seafood boil restaurant for a while and had walked by crawfish and beignets a handful of times when going to the restaurants next to it. I finally had the chance to try it with my family and both times we got the crawfish, shrimp, and beignets as well as potato, corn, sausage sides. I had gotten the crawfish and shrimp in both the Cajun and I believe the Thai Spice marinade. Both sauces were great but I do prefer the Thai Spice since it's more saucy while the Cajun marinade is dry. All the seafood tasted fresh and juicy. The beignets with condensed milk are also amazing!! Crisp, flakey, and not too sweet and goes great with the milk. The first time I came here however, it did take almost 30 mins+ for the beignets to come out after we had finished our crawfish/shrimp despite ordering it in the beginning of our meal so I think the wait can be a little long when the restaurant is quite busy.
