I went here on the 1st and ordered 3lbs of Crawfish and 1lb of head on Shrimp. Long story short.. The Crawfish were not clean. There was lots of grass and a few snails in them. Now I frequently go here because I be lazy and don't want to drive far. It don't take much to rinse them off get the grass out and extra creatures. I will not buy Crawfish from them again unless I'm shown that they are clean before I buy them. I had no problem with the Shrimp this time. Sometimes they are overcooked but they were on point. I'm highly disappointed because I don't play when it comes to my Crawfish. read more

I swear this is probably the truest to the Texas boil you'll ever find in Southwest Houston. The name says it all. True Texas Boil House is a super sized upgrade version of the old shrimp boil shack. Unless you shop at H-E-B every week, you won't know the annoying crawfish and shrimp boil pot on a greasy pad. The pungent fish boil juice burns my eyes every time I walk by or smelling in the downwind. Thanks to a recent remodeling of the entire Chinatown H-E-B. Everything is encapsulated in a metal box. Two exhaust vents atop of this roof still releasing the pleasant fragrance from the good old days plus more. The cashier jokes about how much he loves fried fish, fried shrimp and he wants to make shrimp fried rice. Since they have a kitchen, they've added hush puppies, garlic fries and other surprises coming up. My favorite is the fried whole tilapia basket. I've never seen fish that big existed in the supermarket. It took 2 people to finish the basket. I've heard crawfish are kind of small. So I skipped it and went straight to jumbo shrimp. I can't eat too much spicy seafood. I wish they had it mild. read more

So I felt like I just had to say something about my meal today since it's my first time at this restaurant, I literally just got done eating it lol, and when I say that was THEEE BEST! Fried Snapper I have had in an extremely long time smh lawd! It was good!! Seasoned so well and fried up nice and then drizzled with that delicious garlic sauce and my potatoes and corn were way as delicious the corn was so sweet and savory because of the sauce and the potatoes were perfect ugh! I thoroughly enjoyed this meal yall! I couldn't even get home with it after I tasted it in the car lmbo I turned right back and parked and ate my food in the car, one of the best car lunches ive ever had. Oh my gawd!! I avoided this place for a few months because I didn't know how it worked, I wasn't sure what exactly it was, and it just seemed overwhelming to an autistic person. Well! One day HEB was giving samples of the fried oysters. OMG to die for. So I asked how I could get a plate of them. The nice security guard walked me to the proper window and the counter guy helped me order. Then I had to walk to another window to get my meal and pay. I just left my full shopping basket by the side of the pay window and that didn't seem to be an issue. Nobody tried to steal my groceries. The downside is they are closed on Tuesday and Wednesday but all the other days they have a daily special as well as any menu items you want. Get the fried oyster basket. It's delicious! read more

Stopped by to pick up some crawfish Togo and was happy with how fast their service was. Crawfish is currently $6.97/lb BUT if you order 5lbs or more, it will be $5.97/lb! It's the classic true Cajun boil flavor that you would get from cooking at home. For the price, I would honestly recommend others to come here for the quality you get from the price. I have been coming here to HEB for years for seafood before this restaurant came about. I used to be in love with them but over the past year or two, that has dwindled. When it's good ITS GOOD! But when it's bad ITS BAD! I feel like I should be able to come to an establishment and have consistent good food and not have to worry about whether certain cooks are there. I came on Sunday evening and ordered 1 pound of crawfish spicy and 1 pound mild. 1 pound of Head on Shrimp, with a side of corn and potatoes. Was severely disappointed! I had a ton of legs and claws!!!! Alot of my crawfish didn't even have tails! The spicy had no flavor. The shrimp was overcooked and salty. Once the restuarant opened, I honestly expected the consistency to be better, but I was sadly disappointed. The only thing I enjoyed was the corn and potatoes. This is my 1st visit to The Boil House but I was a frequent visitor of the HEB boils before this boil house open. I must say that I was quite disappointed. I ordered 5 lbs regular and 1 corn. The flavor was ok, I've had way better from them. The size was mixed but mostly small. Probably 2lb of the 5lbs were smashed and could not be eaten. They taste as if they had been sitting in the cooler. Normally they would have been too hot for me to eat right away. I really wanted to go back and return them but as I waited for the line to go down, it never did. HEB was in my top 3 places to eat crawfish. They were about $5.97 lb if 5 purchased. $30 gone and I'm so unsatisfied. My friend purchased the same amount. I'm not sure if it was a just a bad day or if it's time for me to find new selections. read more

As someone who loves HEB & loves crawfish I was prepared to love True Texas Boil House. Unfortunately, we were pretty disappointed. A lot of the poundage we took home was made up of crushed crawfish & tiny separated claws. They also were lukewarm in temperature. Size wise, there weren't any I would qualify as big. Small to smedium. We got the spicy seasoning & it was definitely spicy. Had to take a break at one point to cool my lips down. The potatoes were undercooked & not seasoned well. We will probably give it another shot in case it was a bad day. If it's any better, I will update my review. read more

Ordered 5 pounds of spices crawfish with corn and potatoes. The crawfish had great flavor and so did the corn. The potatoes where covered in more spices and seasoning which didn't make them taste so great. The level of spicy was great! We will definitely be back. The crawfish was super salty and definitely not fresh. The price and size (medium to large) are reasonable, but not worth it because of the taste quality. The $5 deal and free fried combo was a good deal. The head on shrimp tasted equally bad as crawfish. The free fried combo tasted better than the crawfish. The corn was good. The dining area was nice. The wait was kind of long so I'd suggest order it then go shop and come back to get it. read more

The fish and shrimp combo basket is horrible the fish was undercooked and they only give you not even a filet just three small pieces strips of fish the shrimps was completely bread couldn't even see the shrimp and they only give you maybe five pieces of fries literally. Tried tue texas boil the other day and crawfish came out super fast and hot! Its cajun styled with great flavor!
