So they are not allowing anyone in for sit down, I think the reason may be they are short handed there were several hiring signs up. At first we were discouraged and thought about just going someplace else but this is the only restaurant in this town that serves food like this! I think there is a place in Turlock but we didn't want to drive. We opted to order to go and I was glad we did, food is still amazing! This is a very hidden location off of McHenry Ave. The building itself is all the way back. I've eaten here twice already and each time It has never disappointed. The thing that stuck out the most to me was 2 things: The service from Xavier and the garlic Cajun fries! Xavier was our server/waiter. He seriously treated us w/ such kindness and genuinety! He was patient w/ all my requests. I made sure to ask for his name to make a good review for him. Onto the garlic Cajun fries- they're literally the reason I come here. Forget the pho' the fries is where it's at. I believe the normal sized fries were $6.50 but oh my goodness! The amount they give is HUGE. You can have it as a whole meal to be quite honest. Make sure to ask for extra Cajun and extra garlic. You wont regret it! This place is especially popular for their seafood dishes. The best "pound of crab" specials for 100 miles in any direction! This place also has traditional garlic noodles that are worth the trip alone. Even the white rice is perfect. The owner and chef (I think?) is a wonderful guy who hires great staff. The food is like Vietnamese with a Cajun influence, which is one of the best overall combinations possible and they seem to intersect with a touch of French cuisine heritage. I think this is my favorite restaurant in the US except for a few places in New Orleans. The clams here are better than Scoma in SF but those are twice the price and similar quality- the snow crab with Thai Curry or any of the 4 sauces is amazing. I tried the chicken rice place, Korean bbq rice plate, and the grilled pork rice plate (that includes fried chicken and shrimp as well), garlic shrimp noodles, and Cajun special sauce crawfish. Rice plates were excellent and flavorful. Crawfish base was good, but I don't believe the crawfish was fresh (live), which is fine cause it's not always the season for it but live does taste better. Wow! This family owned Cajon fusion restaurant is terrific. It's a nice casual place with a wonderful menu. We started with the fried oysters which were cooked perfectly. The light breading was crisp and very tasty. It was served with a nice dipping sauce. My companion ordered the fish and chips which had the same breading. It was served with a huge side of fries that he upgraded to the Cajun option. I was very excited about my entree as I ordered the Korean short ribs and substituted garlic noodles for my steamed rice. The short ribs were sauced just right. The noodles are cooked first and then finished in the wok. They had a slight sweetness to them that I found to quite delicious. The service was fast and friendly and our server, the restaurant manager actually explained everything to us and answered all our questions about the menu. The prices were very reasonable. This was our first time there but will definitely not be our last. My only regret is that I did not take pictures. read more

My Mother's been wanting to come to this restaurant for a while now. I myself have been avoiding it when I saw the name specifically "Crawfish". I am also very snooty I guess you could say when it comes to any restaurants that have a "New Orleans" based/style/influence to them. I've been to New Orleans enough to know their cuisine, I also have been to enough restaurants who have tried to duplicate that New Orleans style, and they've failed miserably. Not saying that's what this place is, but it's just what came to mind based on the name. Walking inside its extremely dark, I mean VERY dark there are no windows anywhere that I could remember, and it just felt gloomy. The table we were sat at, was dirty, my Mother was actually washing the table down herself, and the menus were also. My Mother was washing our silverware before we ate, this is where she wanted to eat, and I wanted to leave just because she HAD to do this before we were even comfortable. The menu is full of a bunch of stuff that isn't cohesive, but then again it does state Cajun / Creole / Vietnamese / Seafood so I get it but still it was a lot. I was looking at the reviews while we were ordering, looking for options that were recommended by other customers. I saw the garlic noodles, and I read the description, everyone raved about them, sorry to say I did not care for them at all. I like the idea but the sauce that's on the noodles, it was sweet, and that mixed with the garlic, it just did not go well together for me. I did not like it, but I liked the little char that was on some of the noodles. This was my first time trying Pho, and I was excited, there was a guy that told me to put hot sauce to my liking and dive in. This was actually good, had a lot of FAT and grizzle though, I had to ask for a side dish, I literally put a couple of pounds of the grizzle and fat that I could not eat. I had to dig a lot out of mine and I was embarrassed as I sat it to the side. I ordered the Chicken and Beef Pho I believe it was, it was good I could've just swam in that broth, with the Sriracha it was AMAZING I should've just ordered broth with the noodles and I would've been fine .. My Mother ordered the crawfish and potatoes, I don't know. I have shellfish allergies so I wasn't paying attention to her meal. But she did say that it was "Ok". Best part of the meal for me though honestly were the chicken wings. I don't know the flavor of them, but they were sticky, sweet, and a little spicy as well, and they had a bite to them, they weren't soggy, they were DELICIOUS. This was the best part, I loved them. There was nothing that I had that was spectacular. Then the fact that I don't ever want to inconvenience anyone, but I did ask if all of the Pho was made together, and the waitress asked why, I wanted to know because I didn't want to have an allergic reaction in their restaurant. Came here with my boyfriend on a Wednesday afternoon at 3 PM, and it was pretty empty (maybe a total of two to three parties by the time we came and left). It wasn't busy, so we were served right away. As an appetizer, we got the Garlic Cajun Fries ($8). I was surprised at how much it cost at first, but when it came out, I can understand why because there was so much fries! I wish they had a half-size available, because it was too much for two people. It would definitely be good for a family-size group. However, it's not the best cajun fries either... there's a lot of cajun powder seasoning and garlic on it and the fries seemed a little too dry for me. For the main entree, I ordered the Make Your Own Combo with 1/2 Head on Shrimp ($8) and 1/2 Peeled Shrimp ($10), which also comes with corn, sausage, a potato, and rice or bread making it pretty worth the price (+$4). It looks so amazing... until you try it. The shrimp really did not taste like ANYTHING. I have never tasted shrimp so flavorless. The Mild House Special sauce was only alright; I was so disappointed and it felt like something was missing. I'm not a big fan of spicy foods, but maybe I should have gotten the medium spice level just for the shrimp to taste like something. The only thing I liked was the sausage (which had more flavor than anything else), corn (very sweet which I loved), and potato (perfect texture). Lastly, my boyfriend ordered the Seafood Cajun Ramen. Let's just say you're better off buying some Instant Noodles and saving yourself the $12. The only thing he liked was the imitation crab. Overall, I wouldn't want to waste my money coming back, but if I did, I would try the Medium House Special sauce just to see if it would even taste better and only if there are fresh crawfish available (which my boyfriend originally wanted). read more

I came here for the first time to celebrate a birthday and I must say it reminded me of Kickin' and Boiling Crab hahaha. It is nice to see something like this in the central valley! I really liked the crab and shrimp we ordered. It was flavorful! The only thing I would suggest is to have the seafood in a bag instead of a bowl. My cousin brought up a good point in that the seafood got warm since the bowl was widely open versus in other places where they serve it in a bag. Came here last night for my daughter's birthday. The hostess seated us right away and our server greeted us within 5 mins of being seated. My 2 boys ordered Combo #1 and my daughter and I ordered Combo #2. And, of course, we got an order of Garlic Noodles. The noodles came out first then the rest of our order followed. I was surprised at how fast they prepared our food. Everything was hot and fresh. The house sauce is so good. And I have to give props to our server. Last night, I decided to order take out. I order a few soup noodles, rice plate, and vermicelli plate. The past few times I've ordered the vermicelli plate, my noodles were cold and hard. So I this time, I asked them if they could make sure my noodles were soft and not hard. To my surprise, this person told me that they made their noodles in the morning and that all I had to do was microwave it. First, when I order take out, especially plated food, I expect to eat it the way it is. I do not want to put my food in the microwave where it makes my food dry. Second, I have made vermicelli before. Yes vermicelli can be cold if you made it in the morning and eat it later in the day but it should never be HARD. If the noodle is hard, it means you have undercooked it. This is not ok. Instead of admitting wrong, and helping to fix the issue, they gave me hard cold noodles. Again, it was UNDERCOOKED. On the other note, the soups were very oily. Soup should not be this oily. Such a disappointment. read more

Crawfish Noodle & Grill is a Vietnamese place that serves both Vietnamese staples as well as cajun/Viet style seafood. I've only tried the pho tai so far. I ordered an extra meat plate for $2.00. The meat has good thickness to it. It isn't papery thin. Unfortunately, the pho broth is incredibly sweet. I fear it's msg, but I hope it's just too much sugar. I can't eat that again. If I ever return, I'll try the Cajun seafood instead. We also had the cuon (fresh, rice paper wrapped rolls with noodles and herbs). I liked that the cuon had correct pork style. Some places just use pork "cha lua" instead but they went with the traditional style of pork. It was crazy thin, but still detectable. They use large shrimp which made the rolls look pretty. ___ We returned for two dungeness crabs (one was in the house sauce and one was in the lemongrass sauce). I thought the crabs were okay. I think they may have been over-steamed/overcooked. I prefer the house sauce over the lemongrass sauce. It ended up being around $40 per crab. Overall, it was just alright especially for the price. I still prefer Boiling Crab's (in the bay area and SoCal) seafood and sauces. I like that they have a big barrel for washing hands outside of the bathrooms. Delicious food!! Always hot! Portions are huge even though they are served in paper products. Food is still the same like I remember from 2 years ago before Covid and I love it. Before we sat down we had to order, pay, and then we were seated. I think it's a great system to make sure people had enough money and it avoids dine and dash. Girls there were nice and attentive to our needs. I wish the place didn't have the tint though, maybe replace it with blinds instead so I don't think it's closed because we were a step away from leaving. Good thing we checked first before leaving! Cajun/ Vietnamese restaurant located on McHenry Rd. This place didn't seem very authentic for some reason with TVs and sports on and staff would call pho by 'soup'. The staff was very nice and welcoming. We got the rice plate with grilled pork (perfectly marinated with a ton of flavor) and pho with rare beef and meatballs. They were both good! It wasn't the best pho I've ever had, but wasn't the worst either. The portions were very generous! We even got pho to go and it was packaged well and we weren't charged extra for to go orders. One peculiar thing I noticed was that everyone around us ordered the Vietnamese food rather than the Cajun food. My family was set back by this and second guessed ourselves. Our appetizers came out and I was disappointed with the oysters. They did not taste fresh and they were not detached from the shell but the sauces that came along with it were decent. The calamari was breaded lightly and came with a sweet and sour sauce. I would have liked the calamari to be fried more for a more crispy texture. Our entrees came and we were given bibs and gloves to keep our hands clean. The sauce was mediocre and the seafood didn't taste fresh. It definitely wasn't the best Cajun food I've had but it wasn't the worst. The crawfish was the best out of the 3 seafood. We also ordered potatoes, corn and sausages to go with the seafood. I would recommend getting all three so you don't get sick of just seafood. The saving grace of the meal was the garlic noodles. They don't skimp out on garlic as there are garlic chunks in there. You can't hate garlic or else you won't like it. It has the perfect amount of sweetness but it's not too sweet where you don't taste the garlic. I liked the fried oysters and even though the garlic noodles were a bit sweet for my liking, my family loved it and it didn't stop me from eating it. My shrimps were a touch overcooked- a little mushy. And i prefer the sauces from Boiling Crab, Asian n Cajun and Crab City more. The house sauce has an artificial tang taste I can't put my finger on.
