First time coming to Ramen 101 Riverbank. Decided to go here since the parking is way better here than the one on McHenry. Theres 11 tables and half were taken on a Labor Day Monday at 2 pm. You order in the counter but in case you can't see the menu that's behind the register, they do have it posted on the side which was a good idea for people near sighted. I ordered 2 black Garlic ramen , one non spicy for my wire and mine mild. They were quite busy so took awhile to get our ramen which the girl in the front handled it for all the tables. When she brought our soup, I asked which was nonspicy and she didn't know. Lucky when we inspected it', one had a little more red chili oil compared to the other. Decor was nice, place was clean. The ramen was good and soothing. Service was great and we had our ramen fix and was pretty content. Would we come back here? If you have been to another Ramen 101, this place isn't much different than the others as this is a chain restaurant. There is adequate seating inside with about 8-9 tables with chairs. You will need to visit the counter to place your order before sitting down. There is a fridge with several drink selections and a fountain soda machine. They have a single gender neutral bathroom in the back. We were immediately greeted upon walking in and our order was taken without any issues. Every time I visit Ramen 101, I order the black garlic ramen and it tasted great. They always cook everything perfectly and the quality seems to be pretty consistent between the different local restaurants. If you like ramen, you will enjoy this place. read more

This was our first time trying Ramen 101. We got it to go, and ordered crab rangoon, the Tonkotsu Ramen, and the Black Garlic Ramen. The crab Rangoon were nice and crispy on the outside and oh so creamy on the inside! Both ramen were good, I especially like the flavor of the black garlic broth. However, they only give you two small slices of pork, so I would recommend ordering extra (of course, it will cost you extra, unfortunately). $18 for a small bowl of ramen seems kind of pricey to me. read more

Another Ramen 101 location to hit the Central Valley!! They are a chain that has popped all over California and now getting to introduce themselves here in the Valley. I have come here a few times and although not the greatest ramen that I've personally had, it is good for the area. They have a decent selection of ramen to choose from with the majority being a pork-broth base but do have a vegetarian option for vegetarians. My personal go-to is the "Black Garlic Ramen" which includes all the usual toppings with roasted garlic. The portion size is generous and the price is comparable to other ramen shops, specifically in Bay Area. If ramen is not your preference, you have plenty of other options to choose from on their menu such as their rice bowls which all come with rice, vegetables, and a choice of protein. All of these entrees pair well with their large variety of appetizers. Store location is great within the Riverbank Crossroads. It is right next to the Gamestop and has plenty of parking to choose from! read more

Hubby and I had a date night and early Father's Day meal. Hubby loves Ramen so I said I'm taking you to your favorite place. Well didn't go as planned, he order his usual with extras. He didn't get the extras. I called to let them know because we took the food out to the park. The girl who answered was pleasant at first but then twice repeated she knows his Ramen had the extras because she watched it being made. No apologize just an attitude. It would have been fine if she just said oh no I'm so sorry. We were looking for any kind of freebies. Just wanted them aware. I told Hubby last time we go there. A ramen place not far away with a solid menu and decent prices? I'm in! I stopped by for some lunch and was met with excellent service, peaceful ambiance, and some incredible food. I'm a fiend for takoyaki and I'm happy to say this place doesn't disappoint. My sole complaint is that the selection of fountain drinks is smaller than I expected, but that's such a tiny issue compared to the positives this restaurant provides. Ramen 101 is a California based chain restaurant. They also offer Hawaiian barbeque dishes to attract a wider base of customers. Yes, it's a chain, but it seems that ramen should be an obvious choice for franchise restaurants. The USA should be seeing more and more ramen chains in the future. I had no idea there was a location so close. After picking up my Target shopping, and shivering in the cold winter wind, I was jumping with joy to see a new ramen shop. (Especially after my unpleasant experience a more expensive ramen shop in Modesto.) I don't eat pork, so I had the veggie ramen. Ordered it spicy which was probably 6/10 on the spice scale. It was delicious. More importantly it was hot. There is nothing worse than lukewarm ramen, and this ramen was as hot as could safely be served. The noodles were nothing special, but they were firm, and probably would not get soggy for even the slowest eater. It appears to be a white or yellow miso broth, and the spices are perfect. Don't bother with the takoyaki. NOT recommended. It may be frozen. Instead of balls, they are pretty flat on one side. The inside dough is raw. The octopus bite in each is overcooked and rubbery. Instead, just ask for some bonito flakes on your ramen. I love the big Fuji san mural! And the staff all look under 30, but they are attentive and enthusiastic. I think it would be unfair to compare this to your favorite Japanese restaurants in San Francisco or LA. But for Modesto and the San Joaquin Valley, it sure beats the hell out of the usual fast food and taquerias. So 4 stars for this chain restaurant in Riverbank. It will be a frequent stop for me, especially when the weather is cool. read more

So I just recently bought a house in Riverbank so I was thrilled they opened a Riverbank location. I love the one on McHenry in Modesto. So I picked up dinner the other night. Ordered a chicken ramen non spicy for my oldest daughter. Ordered a Tonkotsu spicy with black garlic chili oil , add corn & fried garlic for my man . And 2 chicken teriyaki dinners for my youngest and myself. When I got home I noticed they of give you 2 sides of rice rather then 1 rice & 1 macaroni salad like Modesto location with the teriyaki dinners. Wish they had the macaroni salad but that's ok food was still delicious!! read more

Service was good, we ordered and grabbed a table and our food came out pretty quickly. We ordered the lumpia, they were skinny, but still good. They were served with sweet and sour packets which is fine, but I do typically prefer a sweet chili sauce with them. My husband ordered the black garlic ramen and I had the shoyu. The pork was so good and flavorful. The broths were good, but nothing crazy... I think the chili oil threw the flavor off a bit for me, I tend to prefer a chili paste instead but that's just my opinion! I wish the noodles were a little more chewy, they felt slightly over cooked, but maybe just a one off. My egg was cold in the middle, but I just dunked it in the broth for a bit and it was perfect, nice creamy yolk and the flavor wasn't overpowering, it was my favorite part next to the pork. If you are used to SoCal or Bay Area ramen, you're not really going to get that here, but it scratches the itch and we will definitely be back! read more

My favorite were the gyoza, not sure I've ever had gyoza so crispy from the outside and juicy on the inside. Flavor and texture was 10/10 on those. The broth/ramen flavor was 3/5 the masubi looked too dry for me. Didn't look very appetizing, tried it and it was ok.
