I've been here many times and it's been updated since I last visited! My daughter is ten and she still thoroughly enjoyed all of the different activities they had. Lots of different options to explore her creativity. The admission price is basically $25 per person ages 3 and up, but the annual pass is currently on sale for $29.99! The annual pass gets you 20% discount on food inside the attraction, as well as in the merchandise shop. Best time to go is in the morning because it's less crowded and also. It is best to get the tickets online, they are cheaper on the website. They give you two tokens upon entry, which you can use to create a personalized label on a crayon of your choosing & to purchase Crayola Model Magic, their version of basically Play-Doh, but a lot cleaner! Also, at this time, they're giving out vouchers to obtain a free squishy washable and reusable "pet." We got a bull. My daughter loves coloring it with the markers and then washing it back out. Lots of fun if you like to color and be creative! She liked it so much we got more in the gift shop. It is definitely set up to nurture and enrich your children's creativity side. My daughter and son joined me for a magical night. The staff volunteered to work and the individuals who were there were nothing short of amazing. The sound was off and the lights were dim. My 2 year old had a blast here! From my experience, it was great especially since she was free to enter since she is only 2. My sister and I are both teachers and teachers enter for free in the summer as well. We paid $0 to get in. Score! Start at the 4th floor first as it gets crowded with camp groups. We stayed 2 hours and that was just enough for us. My daughters favorite part was playing with the molding clay. We purchased some at the gift shop on our way out. One minor complaint...the upstairs bathroom on the 4th floor at 10:15am had no paper towels. Did no one clean it overnight? read more

I visted Crayola Factory on a Tuesday in April so it wasn't during summer months and it wasn't on the weekend but oh god, was it crowded. When i say it's crowded, i mean there are lines for every main activities (20+ minutes wait). I categorize activities at the Factory into 2 type. The first one is main activities, which are major attractions (Crayon With Your Name, Melt n Mold, Drip Art, Meltdown, Water Work, etc.) 3 of them, Melt n Mold, Drip Art, and Meltdown are all on the 4th floor and the lines are long so i do recommend to get them down first. Drip Art and Melt n Mold were decent but Melt n Mold machines seem to break down frequently and there weren't a lot of molds to choose from (Only ring mold and car mold). Meltdown is literally living to its name, the whole station just melt into a mess. Don't even bother get in line for this station because nothing works right anyways. All three of activities are included in the admission so no tokens needed. You do need tokens for Crayon With Your Name (1 token/ crayon), token for clay (1 token/ bag of clay) . 2 tokens/ $1 and you get 2 for free with your entrance ticket. The second type of activity is random mini activities. These activities are usually involved coloring pre-drawn pictures (they provided crayons with multiple colors to choose from.) There is also a water color station, but it was packed and there weren't enough art supplies (brush, paint tray) for the amount of kids that day. The water color station is next to the main giant playground so it's super loud and chaotic. Did my family have a fun day? My little nephew definitely did and we came home with a lot of souvenirs that we gathered from the activities but the place itself is in need of an upgrade because many machine were broken down or run poorly. I was here years ago as a kid when this was called the Crayola Factory. Bringing my three year old in 2019, some things were familiar and others have been completely redone. Our family had a good time and would recommend the experience for families with kids under 12 and maybe older kids/adults who really love crayons. Highlights: -Tons of interactive exhibits. My 3-year old loved creating labels for crayons! -A mix of attractions for different age levels (parents, please don't let your big kids dominate the toddler play area clearly marked for ages 2-4!) -Noisier/busier things mixed with plenty of places to sit and draw/paint/create -Visiting on a weekday. Lines were reasonable and the YMCA and other camps there did a great job controlling their groups. -It's clean, there are bathrooms everywhere (so helpful for a recently potty trained kid who has to go NOW every other minute), and hand sanitizer stations are plentiful. Don't Miss: -The brief crayon-making demo in the theatre on the 2nd floor. We were one of only two families in the 10:30am show. Lots of Yelp reviews complain this place doesn't actually show you how crayons are made. It does, but you have to go to this show. And you'll get a freshly made crayon at the end. -The crayon wall in the gift shop. As souvenirs go, the chance to fill a tin with your own mix of crayons is pretty cool. And the display is beautiful. Skip: -The Crayola Cafe. Overpriced and frankly quite bad food (and I'm saying that having expected bad food). Get your hands stamped and go to any one of the many places that are walkable. -The money grabs. Glitter tattoos, skee ball, gem mining. They've found ways to stick add-on attractions throughout that don't have much of anything to do with Crayola. There are enough activities included with admission that give you takeaways to be able to walk past these with your wallet closed. read more

Was hoping for a tour but instead it is more activity based and kid play areas. There is show once an hour (day I was here was on the half hour) talking about the process of making crayons. Noise level can be loud in some areas. Elevator is slow but for strollers, wheelchair, and those who cannot do stairs it is available. Protip: Get there when it opens, take a beeline to the 4th floor melt and molding stations then use your tokens to get some crayons. Honestly, this place is a mechanical engineer's horror show. Either the molds or the crayon dispensers are always breaking. Debating between either a 3 or 4 star, however, my 4 yo loved it, so I'll have to lean towards 4 for experience and enjoyment factor. I'll give it the benefit of the doubt because it was President Day weekend and the place was packed. Luckily we went straight to the 4th floor for the melt & mold. The place is run by inexperienced and apprehensive high schoolers so you can't really blame them for queue management. 3rd floor there is the coloring stations and a humungous play set that allows kids between 3 -12 to participate in, so you'll see parent scouring around trying to find their kids in the sea of calamity. There's also a pretty cool show in which they show you how they make crayons and you get take one home. I think a lot people complain about the cafeteria and their selection. However, my take on it is that the staff cannot handle anything more then pizza and hot dogs, it's good that the selection is limited. You come here so that your kids can have a good selection, not a gourmet lunch. Even still there are plenty of options outside. Overall, it was a good experience for our son, so I rack it up as a positive. The ticket price was reasonable 20.99, my wife had a group on so that brought it to 16.99. My family and I went to Crayola on July 8th. We are two adults and 3 smaller children. We have been to Crayola several times before; however this time it was so HOT! We arrived early, 9:50... waited to be let in so that we could get started before all the camp groups. There was only a few other families and still the place was so warm. My children were so excited but unfortunately we could only stay for about 2 hours because we all started feeling exhausted from how hot it was. This was unfortunate because my kids had been looking forward to this since summer started! We even got food figuring the cafe had to be cool but nope it was warm, muggy and the floor was all sticky. Wildly overpriced. The guy running the show in the theater seemed like he was stoned. When we went to get our ring and car made, two employees (Caitlyn and Sebastian) got in a verbal altercation in front of a line of customers. Sebastian asked for paper and C snapped, "Does it look like I can do that right now?" He sneakily responded, "Uh yeah." If you are a teacher, you have to provide a copy of your TEACHING LICENSE. Crayola - synonymous with crayons (and childhood) like Rollerblades to inline skating, like Xerox to copying, like Chapstick to lip balm, like Band-Aids to... (you get the idea) We'd passed by 'the factory' a few times in the past and we finally ventured in as a Christmas gift for the kids and it was a big hit (they're 7 - an ideal age to visit). A very cool place that has a nice mix of things to keep the kids entertained (making a personalized crayon, jungle gyms, a miniature boat/log ride, melting crayons to make figures and/or artwork, making artwork that comes to life on a wall or 3D on a computer, etc.). As a frame of reference - my kids are more into Legos but they had a lot more fun here at Crayola than they did at the Lego location in New York. (But both are a hike for us and I think one visit was enough for both.) Of course we raced out of the house and forgot the coupons we had but the prices weren't too bad, all things considered. Above-average gift shop. The accompanying app (free) I got for my phone for the day was decent but not necessary. Definitely worth getting there right at 10 when they open and it's still pretty empty. Later into the day it starts to get swamped and less enjoyable. Highly recommended: skip the food and drinks inside and reward yourself by venturing up about three blocks to Two Rivers Brewing which always has an amazing selection of beers and food. read more

I took my six year old twins to the Crayola Experience this past weekend. After exploring the three floors of fun all I could think was "why didn't we do this sooner?!" The second floor and fourth floors had the most experiences involved -- I would actually start up top and work your way down, not only is it easier to leave but I think it saves some of the longer and more fun experiences towards the end. On the 4th floor we excitedly completed various melted crayon experiences - making a new crayon in one of three shapes (currently ring, shark, and sea horse) and then making some melted crayon art. Just below that on the third floor, we experienced lots of fun and chaos as the kids played in the play ground and we all made puzzles. There were two other activities, but neither struck my kids fancy. oh! and the canal system! My kids loved this but didn't really understand it....but who doesn't love a little low key water play? The second floor was SO much fun! We named our own customer crayons, took in the show on how they're made, played with Scribble Scrubbies (currently a sea turtle!), grabbed some clay, made silly selfies, and designed custom cars and watched them hit the road. Each activity had my kids laughing and grinning ear to ear. We had so much fun taking it all in. I hope we can head back within the next year or so before they age out because this was a blast. I highly recommend for your 4-6 year olds...that's probably the sweet spot. read more

This was our first time visiting here. Overall the place was decent, but there are no signs or rules of what to do in any section if you've never been there before. The tokens they give you, you have to figure out what to do with, because no one tells you. We waited about 30-40 mins to make a wax hand. The people there doing that were very nice and were interacting with the customers. This was such a great experience... And definitely look forward to going back again. When arriving turn on to pine street on the left you see parking garages, but if you keep driving you will see a church and you can park all day long for only $5 a vehicle cheap, cheap. If you park in the garage it's about $3 a hour. After parking, the walk to Crayola factory was no less then 3 min. You can enter from the side or in the front. You can get tickets offline and there about $3 cheaper or you can sometimes get coupons for $3 off. But if you can't, the tickets are still cheap enough. To enjoy the day learning how they make crayons. And you can make your own and even put your own name on the crayons, many of the machines take tokens so brings some $1s with you. 2 tokens for $1 and is good for many of the stuff on all of the 4 floors. You can get a good 6 hour day in the Crayola Experience, And for a side note, pack a lunch, Go back to your vehicle and eat. No food or drinks are aloud inside. And the food prices just like any other attractions are expensive, Get your hand stamped before Exiting. Well, times have certainly changed since my childhood in the 90's. I really don't remember this place being as much of a tourist trap as it is now. Back in my day wasn't this place a lot more educational? I was surprised to find they no longer demonstrate exactly how crayons and markers are made. In fact, the whole exhibit is really just like one giant playground centered around advertisements. I expected just a little bit more from such an hefty entrance fee. Kids will love this place no doubt, and I do suggest every kid get the chance to go once. That being said if you're the adult accompanying a child (like I was), this will be a boring excursion. The attraction is small, and like I said, not all that educational. I think they could do a lot more here than they do, but maybe this set up has proved to work for them. read more

I have a newfound appreciation for crayons after coming here. This place is great. Four floors of interactive activities for everyone. I had a blast and forgot I was an adult for a sec. We came on a Sunday and thought it would be super packed but it was raining cats and dogs and it wasn't so bad. We were able to see and do all activities. My advice, start from the top and work your way down. The race car and ring crayon molds are on the 4th floor and the 2nd floor has the labeling of the crayons which is soooo much fun. This seems to be the MOST popular. They also have a demonstration on the 2nd fl. on how crayons are made which I thought was really interesting and the kids did so too. They give you a free crayon after the show. My favorite was the iPad interactive game. It has about 13 stations with puzzles you can solve with the clues given. The gift shop which is located in the main floor is really big and there's a lot of cool items. Most you can find at Target or Walmart for cheaper but buying them here seems to be a big hit with parents. They also have a food section but, we didn't eat here. I can't forget to add, the staff here are really friendly and helpful. Also, bathrooms are clean. Parking: You have to pay the meter even on Sunday. This had a lot of us baffled. I've been wanting to take my daughter here for years. we went with a group of six kids from the ages of 5-15. I got to say what a joke of a place. Even the five year old wasn't impressed. I felt like the longer I was there the more the life got sucked out of me. Do Not Go! This place is a waste of time. It is completely packed with rude families and screaming children. The line to get in is long and they only have 1 person checking people in while another girl stands on the side watching and bagging up crayons. I'm not sure what this place is like during non-holiday times but the week after Christmas is NOT the time to go. There is absolutely no crowd control here. We arrived right at 10 with tickets already purchased and it took 20 min to get in. All of the areas were already crowded. By 11am you could barely move through the different areas. Lines to do different things like drip art barely moved after sitting in line for 20 min. By 11:30 our crew hadn't done much other than color and paint and play in the play structure and we bailed. This place needs to do something like timed entry and limit the number of people at one time. It was not an enjoyable experience at all. For the reviews that say they thought there was more, they didn't do all of the activities. There's four floors in this place and each floor has different stations. If you do the activities (which are fun) you'll spend a few hours here. I'm a single mom and went here with my four year old and we spent 3 1/2 hours in this place. Plus another half hour for lunch (there's a cafe on the first floor). We received a bag with 2 tokens and a scribble voucher in each. These bags come in handy to hold all your projects that you get to take home. There's coloring, games, 2 jungle gyms (one just for toddlers and another for 4 and up), sand pit, water station to play with boats, you can make your own crayons, make your puzzles, etc. You can melt down crayons to do a "drip" artwork. You can also melt down crayons to make a different shaped crayon. We made a ring but I also saw that cars were an option. Everything you make you take home, for free. This place was totally worth it. On our way home my daughter expressed 3x how much fun she had. And while I had a blast and was blown away with the experience, I'm happier that she LOVED it and was so worn out she napped the entire way home. Win win read more

My friends and I visited Crayola today on our college spring break. Of course it's targeted toward children, but there's plenty to do as an adult as well! Especially adults who love crayons and keeping in touch with their inner child. The whimsy & attention to detail were definite highlights. Everything is colorful, thoughtful, and cute. There are lots of crafts and activities available, and many of them were free! My primary qualm is that many crafts and activities cost extra money, which seems a little extraneous considering the steep entrance price. It seems like there could be a greater array of free options for crafting. But still, there were many fun attractions included in the entrance fee. It's easy to spend the better part of a day here. Taking your time through the stations, there's plenty to occupy an entire afternoon. I'd imagine it would take a full day with a stroller or little ones. One more qualm: there's a soundtrack playing in nearly every room of the experience, and it's just the same song on loop. It's a little jingle that gets very grating after a while. This is my second time coming here in a span of about 16 years, each time feeling disappointed. For starters this is a long drive. I've seen this advertised as a day trip to fellow Pa residents, and while that may be true, be forewarned it's a long drive from Lancaster County and beyond. I also feel it's expensive for what it is; both than and now. Fortunately this time 'round it's easy to find discount tickets; at grocery stores, rec centers, coupon sites, Groupon....I found the best deal at Working Advantage - a members only benefit program offered thru your employer. My ticket was $15. Be prepared though if buying a ticket elsewhere as you still need to wait in the LONG LINE, which immediately felt wrong to me. Wouldn't it make sense to have a pick up window or line specifically for those with tickets already?!? So once you go thru that line you have to wait in another line for entry. It's there that they give you a bag with two tokens inside. Unbeknownst to me they were even in there yet alone know what they were for because they tell you nothing. You are handed the bag and sent on your way. While waiting in the line I overheard an employee tell another family to visit the floors in this order due to long lines (we were there 10 minutes after opening on a Friday) go to 4, 2, 3, than 1 where the gift shop and exit is. So following their lead floor 4 was where we headed to. Since I had a stroller I had no choice but to use the glass walled elevator. Let's just say my anxiety level was high and I wasn't a fan.... On the 4th floor there were a few drip wax stations (lame, really) and two long lines. I immediately got in one not knowing what it was for and what we would be doing. The first one was spin art. Melt a crayon, pull a lever and your art looks like everyone else. Second line was make a wax car or ring. Again dispense crayon, pull level, pull out melted shaped one. ((Yawn)))....My three year old granddaughter was somewhat excited only because I talked it up but really I was thinking...is that all they got?!? Other floors were more of the same. Different art stations, blah, blah. The one area you make your own label by typing on a keyboard then roll your crayon. More yawns.... Most stations I had no idea what to do since the signage was vague. I kept referring to the map for some sort of indication of what it was to see if it was worth waiting in line for. The tokens are for ONE SINGLE CRAYON & ONE SMALL BAG OF MOLDING CLAY. Pretty cheesy if you ask me that they couldn't even splurge for a 6 pack box of crayons! The clay station area is across a glass enclosed bridge. Looked for it forever, would have been nice if the map mentioned the bridge! Employees were few and far between. The few we encountered were less than thrilled with their career choice. The "best" part of the trip if I had to pick something was the two story play area. HOWEVER it was like a free for all with parents sitting around on the phones while the kids basically pushed and shoved to make their way on it. I reprimanded a kid about 4 years old for pushing my granddaughter and even than no parent appeared. Kids that were clearly too old for it had taken over and the little kids were pushed to the side. Mine asked to leave and it was clear this was not fun. Actually for the money we played for admission a trip to the mall and the local playground would have had similar equipment and produced a much better experience for free! 2 or 3 hours in you will have had enough. Especially if you had luggage (coats, stroller, etc) like I had and gone alone with your child. This is hands on and without a partner it's hard to keep track of your little one, help them, and hold all your stuff. Not to mention that by hour 2 you will be so frustrated by the whole experience you need a bottle of Tylenol to recover. On a sidenote the gift shop is very overpriced. I didn't see anything there that you couldn't get at Target or Walmart for a fraction of the price. Also the location is downtown so parking in the adjoining garage is a must unless you want to hit up the meter every two hours. The downtown area is pretty cool with lots of small unique businesses and plenty of places to eat...skip the frozen crap they serve in the Crayola cafe and eat elsewhere instead. The options are plentiful. So after two trips with two generations I can honestly say I won't visit again nor would I recommend it. You can get more creative without the crowds at home! read more

And I was so annoyed with the way it was so here are my other complaints about this museum 1 . You get there and there is no one to help you out on what to do or what is going on so annoying 2 there is lines for everything pretty much which is annoying 3 just so disorganized on everywhere you go you will ask someone and they all ignore you or give u a answer and you even more lost on what is going on 4 . And a lot of the workers have attitudes were no one wants to help you for me I will never ever return and was not happy how my experience turned out one time and will never return read more

My 3 year olds grandson had a fun few hours here, as did my daughter many years ago. I have two complaints: 1) the process for gaining admission to the museum was long and tedious - and this was on a weekday morning! and 2) they hire some disabled folks for running the different parts of the experience - several of them were very attentive and helpful, but one young man would not stop telling us inane and nonsensical jokes, to the point of us leaving the otherwise entertaining exhibit prematurely, just to get away from the situation. read more

Went here last weekend, took my son. He enjoyed it. I was just hoping for more activities for him to go. My son is 3, it seems a lot of the activities are aimed for children 5 to ages 9. Other than that it was ok. A bit expensive though. read more

My son husband and I had a ball here. Lots of activities for the kids and great staff. Also a theater is in there that shows a great film if you have time i advise to stay for the movie. I bought a souvenir tea cup 29.99 and a crayon teddy bear 9.99 A great experience for the kids. read more

So, we honestly had a two-star experience, but I could easily see the potential for a four-start trip, so I'm going to split the difference here. The Crayola Experience is a four-level interactive center for all things crayon. There are some pretty cool activities, like a spin-art center that uses melted crayons, a screen-based activity that brings your child's drawing "to life," the ability to do a black-line print out of a selfie or family photo to color, a two-story play area called the Color Playground, demonstrations, and of course the ability to name, wrap and take home your own crayons. We got to see the Crayon Factory show, which was entertaining and informative for both the kids and myself. Most of the activities looked really neat, and therein lies the problem. Outside of a handful of them, we only had the chance to watch them. The place was teeming with summer camp visits today (I saw at least four different camp t-shirts running about), and they were running roughshod all over the place. The Color Playground was like Lord of the Flies, at one point a councilor had to go up and physically drag a camper out because he was refusing to allow any children through. We waited over half an hour to do the spin art. Campers were knocking kids over and jumping n front of people in lines at the make-your-own crayon stations. It was a mess. All the while, the Crayola Experience staff looked on and did nothing except shaking their heads and giving the always effective "stern look of disapproval." While managing the behaviors of the campers is certainly the main responsibility of the camp councilors, the Crayola Experience staff should have stepped in when things were getting out of control. They also should have done a better job of spreading the camps throughout the calendar; having that many groups in on one day has a predictable end result. So, in the end, despite some disappointment, my sons mostly had a good time. Would I return? Maybe, but I'd call and check how many field trips were coming in first.
