I finally got to personally visit Twisted Mac, the new restaurant located within the Crestview Village shopping center. I stopped by earlier today to see about ordering a Mac and cheese casserole for a potluck for later. I was happily welcomed by the manager, Russell. He was able to put together a large order of their smoked macaroni and cheese and stated everything is made from scratch and made to order. I noticed there were a lot of Jr. High kids there, and they said they enjoyed hanging out there to get an after-school snack too. I returned later in the afternoon to pick up my order. Looking on yelp for someplace new to eat. This place popped up. MAC n CHEESE restaurant?! We're in! 8 minute drive. The owner was absolutely amazing. Great customer service. Asked questions about how we found them. Gave us free drinks and Mac n cheese balls. The cashier was nice, but couldn't help us figure out how to pronounce certain menu items which really was not a good look for a new restaurant. We felt dumb. Now the food. The brisket was really good. The cheese sauce on the noodles was more like soup. Not a unique or distinctive cheese flavor either. We took it home and added some pepper, shredded cheese and bbq. Made it better. The Cacio e Pepe again had a thin cheese sauce. There was no pepper flavor and due to the thin sauce there was no distinction with the multiple cheeses purported to be there. We took that home and doctored it as well. There was a weird squishy cheese block to play with on the tables but then I got skeeved out by how many people have touched it with their hands and immediately stopped playing with it. There did not appear to be any condiments like pepper, salt, hot sauce (it's macncheese; hot sauce is required). Overall, the service was great but the food would not bring us back. This is a good lunch place to take the youngsters as in those in the family under the age of 21 and its known they are picky eaters. The best dishes are the macaroni and cheese. I noticed this place just opened up in the shopping center by my house, so I came by to try it out. Im a little torn on the rating, between a 3 and 4, so I went with the 4 because it was good. Me and my wife got the truffle Mac and cheese. The cheese sauce and consistency of the Mac and cheese was really good, no complaints. This is where they lost me. It says in the description that is has bread crumbs, like a lot of specialty Mac and cheee does, but the problem is, they don't use bread crumbs. They use crushed up croutons. I did not enjoy the croutons at all. They might have been good and crunchy when they put them in there, but with the heat and steam of the Mac and cheese, and the closed lid, it changes the texture of them. It didn't become soggy, but it definitely had a stale taste to it. As of now, if I were to come back, I would definitely order without the croutons. My daughter ordered the kids classic Mac and cheese, and she had the same problem. Except she just didn't want to eat it because of the croutons. We also ordered a pepperoni pizza. The pizza looks amazing and the crust I would say was pretty good, but the sauce tasted like some spaghetti sauce right out of the jar. That's really all I could taste. Now they do have an amazing home made ranch. I think their menu has a lot of potential, but those couple things I named were enough to not come back unless changed. Decided to try Twisted Mac after reading some great reviews and hearing from family friends about this place. First the place was completely empty at 6:30 pm on Saturday night, not a great sign. Second we wanted to try the Cacio E Pepe Pizza and was told that they were out of the sauce, period no suggestions for something else. Should have seen the sign and went somewhere else but we were committed. We ordered the Brisket Mac and Cheese, Sausage Pizza, and the Sicilian Pizza along with 3 beverages. When ordering the young man at the counter gave me a little bit of grief because I guess when I asked for the brisket Mac and cheese it sounded like biscuit, but whatever. We were not given any lids for our fountain drinks and the 2 gentleman working did not acknowledge us still at the counter. We went ahead and found a table. Our food was delivered 2 pizza boxes and the to go container of Mac and cheese, some plastic utensils, no plates. We tried unsuccessfully to open the pizza boxes and eat without plates at the table and just decided to take it home. Once again tried to get lids for our drinks now that we were leaving. Finally got someone's attention and asked for lids, we were given 2, there were 3 of us. Asked again for an additional lid, both gentlemen ignored us. We just left. Once we got our food home the pizzas were not cut well and the center was not cooked enough, I am not a fan of floppy pizza especially when the dough looks white and very obviously not cooked through. We ended up cooking more at home and after that we ate. The pizza was ok, nothing special and after cooking it more to our liking was still just ok at best. The Mac and cheese was also just ok, the brisket was tasty and tender, the bbq sauce was tangy and good. I just wasn't impressed. Custom service was not good. For the price (about $60 plus tip) I don't think we will be back. read more

The roll was soft and made the sandwich mushy . The ingredients ( sausage and slices of bell pepper were greasy . It only had a few pieces of red bell pepper on it . I took a bite and found that the sausage was not fully cooked as it was pink inside . I took it out of the roll and zapped it in the microwave. It was not Italian sausage so the taste was bla.
