Went here twice , first time all good , had combination , 2 piece of chicken and beef brisket all good. Second time , same order , they gave 1 piece chicken and brisket , saw it , I did not say anything to owner who prepared our food , inconsistent for simple order . Had children in the car , had to check them , asked if I can pay when picking order , he said to me , no , in here you pay first , that was not good to say , money was very important to him , it erased my earlier experience. Beyond surprised at finding some of the best bbq brisket around. I grew up with Flints (IYKYK) and have been searching for good bbq ever since they closed. The sides were great, too. The owner hands down most nicest guy you would ever meet. We got the beef rib, brisket, latkes, avocado cheesecake, mac and cheese and a watermelon drink. Going to say if you like your mac soggy don't get it here. Perfect texture on everything. Haven't had a good BBQ in a while. Would recommend the beef rib to all that go. This place is close to my house... was a bit hesitant at first because I wasn't sure what they served- walking by one day I smell the amazing bbq-- first of all the dude who runs the place has the best energy. Amazing dude, genuine and can tell he puts his heart into what he is doing-- the brisket was juicy and tender- just melts in your mouth-- not really chewy -- perfect texture.. sauce was super fire -- the sides collard greens was 9/10.. as a black man he know what he is doing ... mac and cheese was good I would.. a little Bougiuex for me hit it was good.. overall great place -- will be returning read more

Had this at the Almanac brewing company in Alameda. I was roped in by how friendly he was and the offer of a free sample! I tried the original (his moms recipe I think he said), which was delicious! I got a mini one (he also sells 9inch rounds). It was the perfect sized treat! It was also super super good with plenty of crust, which is my favorite part. I loved the tender brisket. I ordered some fatty and some not, to compare. The fatty was super moist and not overly fat, very flavorful. I also ordered the chicken, which was moist and delicious. The overall experience at Crazy Block is just shy of too much. Owner Ben is a lot, the murals are a lot, but it all works. The mac and cheese, lemonade, and cheesecakes were highlights of the order. Despite the powerpuff girl and pokemon character murals, the food and drink are more suited to an adult palate and less kid-oriented, with less sugar than I typically taste in lemonade, or cheesecake. read more

My teenager son is a very picky eater and he LOVES Crazy Block cheesecakes. He likes the plain kind and I LOVE all of their flavors. I am not really a cheesecake person because I found most cheesecakes too rich but Crazy Block's cheesecakes are perfect! They are creamy but not overly rich. The crust is a bit on the sweet side to my taste but it goes super well with my sugarless coffee. I've met two different guys so far and they both are very friendly. I loved this guy's smile so much that I asked him for permission to take a picture. I finished my cheesecake before I had a chance to take pictures. Support local business. For months before the restaurant opened, we saw the "BBQ latkes" signage and were intrigued. Today, we had the brisket sandwich, latkes, and mango cheesecake for lunch. Everything was yummy. Absolutely delicious. Can get huge portions or smaller ones for smaller appetites. Decor is fun and the chef is really nice.

First of all, the folks there are so personable! Lovely, kind humans. Second - the food. The brisket sandwich is HUGE and nearly all meat, which sets it apart from some places that stuff them with slaw to cut down on the brisket used. It was so big I skipped dinner, lol. My friend had the latkes. She ordered 3 but said she easily would have been happy with two. Big and fat, they looked like they were deep fried because of the consistency of the brown crispy exterior. She said they were delicious and enjoyed that they came both with apple sauce and sour cream. We grabbed a mini cheescake to take home for later, a seasonal flavor - eggnog. I was delighted to find it not too sweet, which is an issue I have with many desserts. The eggnog flavor was dominant but not artificial tasting, and it was creamy with a graham cracker crust. Latkes with cheesecake and bbq!?!? Learned about their grand opening today - March 14, 2025 from East Bay Nosh. Actually went yesterday (Yelp showed they were open Thursdays); hoping to grab something before (soft opening) the big day; but they were still closed. Saw that their Yelp hours for opening day was updated to open at 9:30am, and got there around 10:50am; I was about the 20th person in line; was starting to get impatient and they eventually opened around 11:30am. Got the short rib combo w collard greens / brisket combo w mac n cheese / latkes / 4 mini cheesecakes: OG (free) / ube / mango and henny praline. Everything was soo good - worth the wait; the meat were smoky and tender and juicy; the cheesecakes all awesome not too sweet and you can taste high quality ingredients. Ben, the owner was so energetic and came out a couple of times (w free baseball caps + samples) to update us. You can feel how much this store opening feels to him - good luck and we will be back soon again and again. read more

I only gave this place 2 stars bc I was not happy with my food ! I will say the cheesecakes are good even though I ordered 3 cheesecakes and one of the cheesecakes was not what I ordered, I was upset bc for the price of those cheesecakes I want what i ordered not to mention the wrong one was chocolate I hate chocolate cheesecake, but it was basically a waste of money! Another thing that really bothered me is the Mac and cheese was scorched and the collard greens tasted like it had lots of hot sauce in it. another thing I didn't like is the plates don't match the price I'm sorry but Everett Jones is close by and I could get two dinner plates that will feed my family of 4 and we still have food left over it would be less than what I paid for 3 brisket combos with scorched, macaroni and cheese. They don't even sale two ways with brisket and ribs which by the way they did not have any ribs tonight! I actually took a picture so you can see the portion of the combo plate it's absolutely ridiculous ! I hate to write bad reviews and I only do them when i absolutely think a business needs to make changes and this business is one of them ! the brisket was not bad it was actually good I think it depends on the cut you get with brisket and that's any where you , and if the mac and cheese was not scorched and they didn't give me the wrong cheesecake I probably would have been able to excuse the other stuff i mentioned, but there was just too much going on for me not to express how I felt, and no I did not tell the owner because my order was to go and I didn't know these things until I got home! I called but got the VM and I was not driving back over there , I'm a working mom who was on her way to drop off my kids to their-sports activities and this was a dinner pick up for us for the night and unfortunately none of us were happy about the food we had tonight! Ok so it's cheesecake we are talking about...yum all on its own just knowing it's all about cheesecake. I was lucky enough to find this business at the Fremont Festival and I'm so glad I did. The very first thing that caught my eye was the bold logos and set up. Secondly you are immediately welcomed by the most friendly upbeat staff and although this isn't necessarily a priority....because hello it's CHEESECAKE it is above average niceness and just draws you in even more. I ended up getting a "variety pack" with the following flavors: Hennessy, Corn, Ube, and OG Original NY style. Each flavor shines but my favorite in taste and consistency is the OG hands down. We went to visit the new spot on Lakeshore. I can tell that the workers were new by how long it took fill 1 order. I got pretty antsy only because I am a cook myself and I wanted to go back there and help and teach the new hires (LOL!!!!) that's just me. I'm crazy that way and I love new businesses. The workers were all friendly, the owner is a great guy! We didn't try the cheesecake, dang I forgot. Brisket was good. The greens I prefer it to be more chopped up, seasoned and cook until they are withered. There were too firm, almost like crunchy and as a SOUL food cook, will that's how I eat greens. So, will I be back? HECK YEAH!!! Luv the establishment. I will support this restaurant so I will be coming back to try the cheesecake and try the other items on the menu. I discovered this business yesterday through Too Good to GO, and omg, I will pay full price for these perfectly portioned out, scrumptious desserts. The package I got had three flavors, including classic, turtle, and something with a light dusting of cinnamon. The chef who handed me my bags was good enough to tell me that the cheesecakes needed to be eaten same day or frozen immediately. (I love people who care about the integrity of the food experience!) CRUST: Cooked to a crisp, whether it was graham cracker crust or a chocolate one. Buttery, caramelized possibly. FILLING: Verrry rich, sweet, but not overly sweet. You can taste the quality of ingredients! SERVICE: A+++, 5* for providing instructions with care and a smile you can see behind the mask.
