This cart (only there during lunch hours until 2pm weekdays) offers variations of chicken bento. Occasionally they also do steak. They offer the bentos in 2 sizes (small and regular). Small is definitely small sized (appetizer quantity) and is about $7 Regular size runs on average $11. They have different variations like adding veggies or canned pineapple. You can add one of their 8 sauces as well for flavor you're looking for. Regular size is a good portion size of food, but bento is just OK. They use grilled chicken breast (rather than more commonly used thighs) on their bentos and it tastes just like grilled chicken if you don't add any sauces. Rice was a bit mushy. It's a good qunatity of food and price is ok but, it's not like a normal style of "teriyaki bowls". I've got respect for anybody trying to hustle, but this ain't that. Somebody got an idea about a food truck and economy of scale ingredients...but there is no interest in producing a quality meal being shown here. Nothing here is cooked, it is only heated up. Portions are large, but that only means you have work through a great deal of unpleasantness or waste a lot of what could have been decent food. What is being served is plain steamed rice, a bag of bird's eye Asian style frozen vegetables, unseasoned and steamed to death, canned pineapple chunks, and chicken breast skewers again unseasoned and grilled 'til dry. The nearly dozen different sauces that you can use do nothing to help that everything in the dish has been thrown together with carelessness verging on hostility towards taste. Sorry guys, hope y'all decide to invest some energy into producing something you'd be proud to serve and happy to eat...otherwise your trailer is just gonna be a moneypit. read more

I work around this area and the options for food are not great. Not wanting Subway or McDonald's, I decided against my better judgment of eating at food trucks (yes, I've heard some are amazing. But it's still food. from a truck.) and tried Crazy Chicken Bento. VERY disappointed. First impressions of the truck were poor: not super clean, not great food handling standards and not very inviting. I was hungry and was already there, so I decided to stay. The menu was small and hard to find, but I decided on the cajun chicken bento. Two guys were working: one taking & running orders, the other cooking and finishing the orders. The one who took my order put some rice in a container and threw some sauce on top (teriyaki, I'm assuming). The guy cooking chopped up some chicken, slathered on some sauce and dropped the container in front of me. I was going to take it to go (no chairs or tables around) and had to find my own lid. Once I dug in, I realized their version of cajun chicken was throwing on this weird red sauce on top of the chicken. It had some heat, but was not very flavorful and nothing about it was "cajun". I found it very odd that they used chicken breast. Typically, bento/teriyaki is made with thighs, and there's a reason for it. Thighs are more flavorful and more forgiving. My chicken was dry. The rice was even mushy. I'm not sure how you mess up white rice but it apparently can be done. My "bento" dish (mushy rice, dry chicken breast, nasty sauce) was almost inedible. I'm really confused about the five star reviews on here. My experience is completely in line with the other one star reviews and I don't get how you could see it any other way. I suppose the silver lining is that it's chicken breast so could be deemed healthier? Otherwise you get dry chicken, mushy rice and some form of teriyaki sauce that might as well be Yoshitas for $8.50. seriously..... The upshot I suppose is that I was able to eat about half of it and I haven't gotten sick yet. I'm considering myself lucky at the moment. read more

I love this food cart. I wish I could go more often but they are only open when I typically work. If I have a bonus day off, I am going here. The chicken is cooked to perfection. The steak is amazing too, but they don't have it every day. I get a large chicken bento with Cajun sauce because it is at least 2 meals. I'd be crazy to return. I Just had "The works" and couldn't finish it. If you like cold canned pineapple on top of boiled mush broccoli, then you might indeed give this garbage more than 1 star. Imagine eating cold scraps found in the nearest dumpster...that would be your $10 "Crazy" Bento experience. I'm not one for bitching without suggestions for improvement. These guys, they do this simple dish, and they do it well. Rice, chicken, pineapple, sautéed veggies. I get the chicken and pineapple, and a side of the steamed veggies. I will drive out of my way, because let's be honest, unless you work out there it's not 'on the way' to anything. Maybe if you're headed to the coast or Sauvies Island. The thing these guys do, that makes them so universally enjoyed, is the sauces. They do the chicken plain for a reason, so you can customize it yourself with one of their many tasty house made sauces. I recommend the bourbon or sweet and sour. I think the teriyaki is also good, and though I haven't tried it because 'spicy' isn't my thing, the Cajun sauce appears to be popular as well. You don't have to get just one either, mix em up! Little bit of this, little bit of that... you do you, they supply the chicken and rice, you finish it off the way you want. Good prices, good portions, they're consistent because they keep it simple. The only reason I would eat here again was if I was desperate and all the other NW industrial restaurants burnt down. I tried it 3 times before writing this review to make sure I didn't catch them on an off day. Each time was worst than the last. The ONLY reason people eat here at all is because of it's close proximity to their workplace. It's usually operated by two people, and these two could not care less about their customers if they tried. The meat is grilled, only...not marinated, nor seasoned, nor anything, to any noticeable extent. If you want to get fancy and upgrade with pineapple on your meat/rice, it's taken straight out of a can and is horrible. I remember thinking during final meal at CCB that this is literally the human equivalent of dog food. If you work in the area, do yourself a favor and upgrade to the taco truck a block down, Subway, or anything else in that complex a block south. However, portions are good so if your priority is filling up the tank for cheap, then that's your priority. This place is hurting bad and is in a serious need of anything. You deserve better and most importantly, they need to up their standards and food quality even if it adds a dollar. Cheers! read more

Who knew basic chicken and rice could be so tasty? Well, most anyone can make it tasty, but these guys grill it to perfection and dress it up with teriyaki flavor that explodes in your mouth. I got "The Works," but felt like the veggies overpowered the chicken. I would probably go sans veggies next time, and let the chicken and rice shine in all their glory. Hands down the best bento as well as the best bang for you buck in Portland. Love this place, eat there everytime I am an in the area. I normally go to a different teriyaki place in this part of town so this is my first try @ Crazy Chicken Bento. I ordered the Cajun Chicken, I think I waited 2 minuets if that and it was ready! The cook puts your order down on the pickup counter next to the sauces and napkins with no lid so you can put more sauce on your food or put on a lid and rubber band and call it good. I took mine as ordered. The cajun sauce has a tangy sweet flavor similar to a Kansas City BBQ Sauce with a little more heat but not too much.( I am a fan of Portland's Crazy Juice https://www.crazyjuice.net/ so this is very tame in comparison) The Chicken breast meat was tender and juicy with a nice array of grill marks to give a good char flavor. The Rice is standard white rice done sticky style and flavored nicely. Here is why the review only gets a 3 star rating. The veggies are on the squishy side I suspect they are frozen making them slimy and squishy with a frozen aftertaste, I am sure upgrading to fresh veggies would earn a 4 or 5 star rating, still @ $7.00 this is a great lunch deal and as long as they use frozen veggies I will order mine without. Weird location, but given the options in the NW, this is definitely my favorite. It's not exactly authentic bento (they offer extra sauces including curry and peanut), but if that's not a big deal for you, you'll be happy. Portions are great (ie huge), price is great, meat is flavorful and perfectly cooked, and their steamed veggies are surprisingly varied. Plus they offer brown rice and have specials (like juicy delicious steak W/Th). Highly recommended to anyone in the NW searching for a good lunch spot. read more
