Brought some of our friends to this bar in St. Charles. Crazy Fox has a lot of unexpected offerings. It has a few menus including one all for vegans. Hard to believe there's too many items to choose from. There's mostly Mexican themed cuisine such as nachos, quesadillas, and tacos. A lot to go through on this menu to be honest. It's quite literally a lot. The bar has a few menus. Drink menu may actually be an afterthought. It's about $9 for the cheapest cocktails. The main reason to come is the plant based menu though. It's about $16 for entrees. We had a hard time choosing because many things seemed to be worthy of the kind of high prices. A few things are more affordable. The Spinach Quesadilla has pico and vegan cheese, along with sides of salsa and vegan sour cream. Plenty of things with Beyond. The burger of course among these. A lot of other non plant based items. There's always someone who must have meats. For those wanting plant based versions of popular Mexican items they have a lot. It's closed Mondays. This is a review for FOX SOCIAL - the new name of the bar in this location. * Name: Tbh the new name is quite a misnomer, as it calls to mind places like Hampton Social downtown or other instagram-forward establishments. This place is just a cleaner version of Crazy Fox. I would have gone with, like, Fox Local. * Menu: really like their beer list! The food is not great, but at least it's there. Edible :) * Staff: friendly!!! seem like cool people. quick service * Vibe: cozy for sure. and it is always easy to get a seat, which is getting rarer and rarer in the Tri-Cities. I just think they haven't figured out what they're going for - is it a dive? sports bar? upscale gals night out spot? it's kinda all those and kinda none. * Suggestion: to customers - go here for a quick drink at the top or end of your night, there will be a seat, warm and friendly. to owners - you have so many TV's, try mixing it up and don't ever put multiple of the same game on the tightly packed screens behind the bar. keep the sports but instead of doubling up, try familiar movies and popular older shows - with subtitles. simplify the cocktail and food menus to only things you do really well, and expand your (great taste) in beer! This place is a solid 4.5 star place! I came here for the vast array of vegan items on the menu for my wife! They have a solid array of great food at reasonable prices! The BLT sandwich that I ordered was great! Amazing, well made fries! My wife had their vegan quesodilla and she absolutely loved it! Food was made in reasonable time too. The amazing MVP of the waitress / bartender who was holding down a whole packed bar with a Smile on her face by herself without any help and she was phenomenal! I love the upscale, divey feeling here when you first walk in. It's warm and welcoming. The only thing I'm opposed to is the random stuff on the bill like a small surcharge that was added and other miscellaneous taxes that were added. Still a solid place to visit nonetheless! read more

The server was not very attentive. The tip reflected a lack of service. Steak sandwich very tough, had to dismantle it and cut it into bite-sized pieces. Onion soup, tiny cup, good but slightly salty. Cider beer left me angry as it was too pricey. Overall, I wouldn't recommend the soup or the steak sandwich.. but they do have specials, mon-fri. And, from what i observed at other tables, the burgers might be the ticket here. Otherwise, St. Charles has more and, most likely, better places to drop your hard earned coin at. read more

We chose the Crazy Fox Bar and Grille for two reasons: (1) we had tickets to a show at the Arcadia Theater right across the street from the restaurant, and (2) they offer gluten-free options. We had a nice time - just my son and me. We had some time before the show, so we had a leisurely dinner. I had the Barbeque Sandwich (on a gluten-free bun). It came with homemade chips, which were outstanding. The BBQ was heavy on the sauce and served with pickles. The sandwich was good - the sauce was tasty, and it was enormous. It would be better if there were less sauce (my opinion only). We also had the Fried Pork Sandwich, which came with fries. The Pork Sandwich was also excellent. But similar to the BBQ, it had too much sauce. The fries were perfect - seasoned nicely and crisp. It was a great experience, one we will return to. As we eat our way through Main Street St. Charles, Illinois, our next establishment was The Crazy Fox Bar and Grill. It felt like we walked into a piece of historic Saint Charles. A beautiful long wooden bar covered the right wall and dining tables filled in the remainder of the narrow establishment. It was quaint, well-maintained, and clean. There were T.V.s about the bar and lively music playing. The sound level was perfect, we could maintain a good conversation and still enjoy the music. Most surprising was the extensive vegan menu. Nothing from the outside of the building would alert anyone of this vegan restaurant. What was often advertised was the Fish Fry Dinners. We ordered two Codfish Fish Fry Dinners, and a Chicken Avocado Wrap with a side of Roasted Vegetables. The Fish Fry Dinners were lightly breaded and delicious. The fries were thinly cut and seasoned to perfection. The Chicken Avocado Wrap was good, but pretty ordinary. The Roasted Vegetables were cut extremely small and overcooked to the point of being mushy. The service was excellent. Our server Petrana was friendly, knew the menu, and was very attentive. She was very responsive when we indicated that we did not care for the roasted vegetables. This was a great dining experience. read more

Stopped in prior (and then after) a show across the street at the Arcada Theater. A light snack consisted of two glasses of wine and 2 Jameson's on the rocks (there were two of us) and a shared Lobster Slider. The drinks were good, as expected and the Lobster slider was quite tasty. We enjoyed the buttery flavor and the slice of bacon between the buns with a reasonable amount of lobster. I've noticed a 3.5% "surcharge" on my receipt, not sure what that's about and then a second "surcharge" appeared as well... not sure I like that and would ask what that's all about before ordering there again.. which we'd like to do. The atmosphere was low key bar, music was not blaring so we could talk and there are plenty of TVs which were primarily on sporting events. At the same time, it has a very distinct flavor of the past. After the show we, now four, stopped in for dinner. My wife and I shared a pizza which was very good, pepperoni and spinach, loaded with cheese, our friends had a Reuben sandwich and , LOL, I can't remember the other item but we were all satisfied.. except for those two surcharges... what's with that? read more

It was a busy evening but with four people running a bar with maybe twelve tables and a bar that wasn't full when we were seated I would think a 25 minute wait was a bit excessive. Left there went across the street to the flagship on the fox (which was also busy) got seated, had great service and food and made it to our show at the arcada. Taste was just ok. -My family reports the burgers were good. -overall service was quick and presentation on all the meals was good. The bad: -Diet Coke tasted odd. Mix was off or maybe the cup wasn't clean. Either way I switched it for lemonade in a new cup. -I ordered the chicken sandwich. No flavor. Flattened so skinny it was like eating cardboard. Avoid. -the fries looked better than they tasted, there was an odd flavor but I think maybe it was the ketchup. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that it wasn't actually fries. But if it wasn't the fries- then the only things I can think of is that it was an old bottle or the ketchup bottle hadn't been cleaned properly. -Not kid friendly. No kids menu or kid cups. My son was drinking lemonade out of a cup that said Miller. It felt wrong. -Was expensive. We haven't been here in a while but I remember the reuben sandwich was good so we came back on a Wednesday evening. The sandwich was still good but the chips were a bit oily. We were in the area and found this place that offers vegan options on yelp! Heck yeah let's go!! The place is in downtown St. Charles a cute town to check out too. When we walked in, its a cute little town bar with plenty of TVs to watch your favorite sports. They have a long bar and plenty-of table seating. We picked our table by the back of the place. Initially it was kinda dark, but later during our lunch they turned up the lights. They also have electric slots in the corner. Once we sat down they shared us both main menu and the vegan menu. We decided to try the jack'ed quesadilla came with string fries, vegan sour cream and salsa. We shared and our lunch and this was a good dish to order. They made it crispy on the outside and the jackfruit and red bell peppers, it was flavorful with vegan shredded cheese. We also ordered the beyond meat burger topped with vegan cheese and the fixings on a toasted brioche bun with a side of sweet potato tots! Wow the tots so cute, sweet and crispy that we ended up ordering a side of the sweet tots, no sharing here lol! The burger was good, so simple we will get this again. The staff here was all so friendly and attentive and making sure our water drinks were filled no need to ask. And their two stalled women's bathroom looked like they were remodeled it stone and marble too, impressive! I'm hoping they will have more options on their vegan menu like vegan Mac n cheese, vegan mozzarella cheese sticks, mock chicken nuggets, vegan chili, etc. Overall, a good experience for lunch. We went here before a concert at the Arcada. The place was packed. It started out that we were waited on quickly but that didn't last unfortunately. I ordered a Buffalo chicken wrap and my husband got a burger. Our food came out in ok time however, my wrap was loosely wrapped ( food was mostly on the plate) and it had no sauce, buffalo or otherwise. I tried some and the chicken seemed as if it was cooked some time before or sat for a while. I was trying to go with the flow and just dump it on the plate and make a salad of it. To do this, however I needed some ranch or something. We never saw our server again. So I didn't end up eating it. She came by when we waived her down for the check, she noticed and asked if I didn't like it. I let her know it was cold and not at all a buffalo chicken wrap as it had no buffalo sauce. She asked if I wanted another one but we had to leave. Had been there an hour already at this point. She did take it off the bill. My husband liked his burger so I am sticking with 3 stars as I think they may have just been crazy busy and that caused the mishap. read more

I visited Crazy Fox this past weekend on a very early Sunday afternoon - which was perfect, because we were the first ones there.  With the bar to ourselves, we picked the table at the window in order to try and warm up a little - it was a tad chilly in there. At first, I was a little put off by the prices on the menu - but after our meal, I felt the prices were justified (at least what we ordered).  Not only do they have your typical pub fare, but they also have quite a few other options that you wouldn't normally find at a bar (vodka pasta, etc.), and I will for sure be back to try more on the menu. THE BEER LIST: Good-sized beer menu.  I found one of my favs, New Holland Dragon's Milk, among the throng, and it made me happy.  I didn't check out the cocktail menu, but my husband mentioned a blood orange mule that I will get next time. THE FOOD: Their fries and chips are homemade and their burgers are juicy and fresh.  That always justifies higher prices in my book.  I'm fine with paying more for quality vs. frozen crap.  I loved that the fries were skinny, with the flakey kind of salt.  I scarfed them down before even touching my main course. My patty melt was fresh, thick, perfectly cooked and had the perfect amount of gooey cheese.  I only wish the grilled onions had been just a tad skinnier and softer - all in all, it was a great meal.  Would order again. My husband's garlic parmesan burger looked freaking amazing when it arrived.  As he spread out the thick chunk of garlic parm that was placed in the middle of the burger, and I smelled the delicious aroma, I almost regretted my patty melt order.  The juices were dripping off his burger as he picked it up.  We left satisfied knowing that we found another good place to add to our list of dinner places before we see movies at Charlestown 18.  I recommend checking them out, but I can see this place being very busy on a Friday or Saturday evening, so you might want to go early! read more

Came back here again last weekend after an unintentional hiatus and was stoked to see all the vegan options! I have a couple vegan friends and try to eat vegan myself when I can, which can be tricky sometimes when dining out. I was so happy to discover their vegan menu had multiple items available too! Most places have one or two options at most, but Crazy Fox had a variety to choose from. I tried the vegan nachos which I've been craving more of since we left. The service was great as well, and they're one of the few places I've found lately that serves food past 10 pm! Our waitress was attentive and more than willing to get whatever we needed. Just used Uber Eats to get food from here. I had fish and chips. Advertised as beer battered but was just breaded, and tasteless at that. Even the tartar sauce was tasteless. The staff when we visited were all incredibly nice and the service was excellent! We were there at Noon on a Saturday with only 2 other couples in the place so I can't speak to how the service is on a Fri/Sat night when things are hoppin' but we were quite impressed with them on our first visit. They have quite a large beer & cocktail list and a tempting menu as well. Mainly pub food you would expect but the quality and taste of what we had was very good. We shared fried green beans (the Hubs "veggie" compromise, haha) which had quite a lot in the basket along with the French Onion Dip burger. The kitchen split the burger & housemade chips on 2 plates for us & also gave us 2 cups of the French Onion Soup it came with for dipping which was very nice of them. The burger was cooked perfectly & the toppings were great, the soup was delicious & not too salty as it often is at most places and their housemade chips were FANTASTIC! Crazy Fox Bar and Grille is fantastic! My husband and I are new to the area, and we had the opportunity to meet the owner, Daniella, which was an absolute pleasure! We sat at the bar and she took excellent care of us: she was attentive and engaging. The Fox (Moscow) Mule is a must try if you are thirsty and like a good Mule! So refreshing! The food here is awesome. I had the chicken guac wrap (pictured) with fresh, hand cut chips, and my husband had the patty melt and the fresh, hand cut fries. Mine was super delicious and fresh, and my husband said his was too! No frozen patties here!! Come on in and enjoy some great food and drinks! This is such a perfect place to go in St Charles, right across the street front the Arcada. Our new go to place when going to the Arcada. Its a great neighborhood type bar that is family friendly.  Very warm and welcoming with a good menu. They have a bit of everything, burgers, sandwiches, pasta, salads and a respectable beer list. We started with some excellent nachos, the chips seemed either extra good or homemade, some of the best tortilla chips i've had...plenty of toppings too. I had a patty melt and my wife the buffalo chicken wrap. They have fresh cut very thin frys which you don't see often. They were good but the cut makes them lose some of the flavor you get from normal fresh cut. The patty melt was good, nicely griddled, good rye, the burger was done past my requested medium though and the onions could have just a little more cooking. But it was juicy and had good flavor. My wifes wrap was packed with a ton of chicken and was not stingy with the buffalo sauce, she enjoyed it. Don't know how my friend found this place but he suggested to meet here since it was between our homes and we live somewhat far from each other. It was a good place to hang out. There were a few tvs, it was a restaurant with a bar, and it wasn't noisy. The bartender who also happened to be our waiter was very friendly. We were able to sit at any table and he was very attentive even though he was the only one attending to around 20 people. It's a bar but I didn't have anything to drink so I can't comment on the selection. I ordered a chicken guacamole wrap with sweet potato tater tots. Nothing special about the place so to me it was average. It was what I expected from a restaurant with a bar. The service almost made me give a 4 star review since I was impressed he was able to maintain the quality of service serving that many people but alas I could not justify it. read more

After walking around the art fair in St. Charles we tried to get a table at another establishment but they had 35 minute waits. Just across Highway 64 was The Crazy Fox, where we were able to walk right in and get a table by the window. They had a nice menu with a broad selection of sandwiches, appetizers and entrees. I had a burger and fries and they were delicious. I could tell they were house made with quality ingredients. The servers, one was the owner, were very welcoming and helpful. Any place that advertises that the kitchen closes at midnight and you walk in at 11:15pm. Is an automatic fail for me. Businesses have to remember about that customer that comes in at the last minute. Not a good way to end the year guys! Check your front window, we saw it there.
