Came to this bar with a rustic atmosphere in St. Charles. Duke's Northwoods is great for drinks as well as cheese curds and other junk food. It has that classic Wisconsin feel you'll know if ever been camping there. Has the basic drinks and eats. There's not a whole lot that isn't meaty. A cramped interior actually feeling like a cabin. It's always crowded as a result. The bar is in the middle and it takes up most of the space. A ton of liquors to choose from. There's also tons of beers, and of course they have Leinenkugel's. Also a few craft beers from that state up north to choose from. It's about $9 for whiskey. Has some that are a lot more. The food is pretty divy bar type of stuff. It's about $5 on appetizers. These include the cheese curds and tater tots. Entrees are meaty. The Smash Burger is probably the favorite of most people. Great Outdoors atmosphere just like the movie with John Candy. It's likely you'll also see fat men here, maybe not eating a gristly steak, as the entrees also consist of burgers, walleye, and leaner meats. They're open later on weekends. read more

SO MUCH CHRISTMAS!!! Still :) We ordered The Brat Bites and Wedge salad to share before splitting a pork tenderloin sandwich. The Brat Bites are very good and even better without the batter (can't go wrong with Ream's brats). The wedge was crispy, wonderfulness with the perfect toppings. NOW, FOR THE MAIN EVENT!! The tenderloin was near 11x11, lightly breaded, and cooked just right. They know which condiments and vegs to top it with too. Ever want to go out for breakfast but don't want that much food or to pay a fortune? Duke's Northwoods breakfast sandwich is pretty incredible & was our solution. Made on a homemade English muffin, generous slices of bacon and perfectly executed eggs. Their tots were so good, I didn't ask for ketchup. Anyhow, we were here for a bargain brunch (sandwich is $10), but also their coffee is honestly better than 9/10 dedicated breakfast spots in the tri-cities. Extremely good value for breakfast. With that being said, it's a classic sports bar environment so it gets pretty loud and not the best spot if you expect to have a casual conversation with your group. We entered the sports bar around 5pm. It was extremely loud. We were seated right away. We ordered drinks and an appetizer. The appetizers almost beat the non alcoholic drinks to the table. I loved the Wisconsin Northwoods decor! We had the cheese curds and brat bites. Being the cheese curds connisuir that I am, I rate these very high! Light tasty breading made the cheese the hero, as it should be. The brat bites were also good, made with local meat market brats. We finished the apps and waited, waited, waited....15min turned to twenty. I had to give our server the stink eye to get his attention. We ordered dinner. The food came out in a timely manner. Many of us ordered the Famous Pork Tenderloin sandwich. That was a plate of schnitzel!! Enough to feed a family of 4 and delicious! My German heritage on a plate. Consistency and great value for the dollar is what you will find here. It's very refreshing to find a place that does it right. They are clean, they have great lunch specials, good happy hour and seasonal meals that are quite impressive. There is plenty of reason for the crowded bar and restaurant , even on weeknights. I'm only giving it one star because the cheese curds were decent. I would not recommend getting anything from Uber Eats at this restaurant. Firstly, the price you pay for a "bowl" of soup is ridiculous, even for Uber Eats. The portion is equivalent to a typical cup size, so if you order a bowl, just know it's the same size as a cup. Secondly, the chicken noodle soup tasted like they mixed it with dishwater and wasn't even edible. Lastly, we ordered the kids' tenders, which arrived soggy due to the container they came in. The food was pretty good. They did wonderful job splitting some of the meals. Our waitress was outstanding. She took care of us every time we needed something. We were a party of 10 so a large group for her and she took care of us with ease. I Bill was $250 which was a little high. Our biggest complaint was one of the kids ordered a hot chocolate and it was eight dollars. I feel that was outrageous. A beer was seven dollars. How could a hot chocolate would be eight dollars. This is our third year in a row with the group going there not sure if we'll be back next year. We'll have to see. read more

Our server was Nanci O. She was so great. I can't say enough about her. She was kind and so informative about the menu. Her choice selection was spot on. This was our first time and we will be back lots of time. I had the walleye and it was so enjoyable. When you have a server so kind it makes your whole dining experience a million times better. Again drinks, food and everything we had was so great. I even took a salad home. This was our first time and can't again tell you what an experience this was at Dukes. The service was HORRIBLE. I was seated in the back room because the front was pretty loud. I was the only person seated in the back room but the server didn't offer a drink or menu while I waited for my friend. She showed up 5 minutes later but we still waited about 20 minutes before they took a simple drink order. We had to keep flagging down our server for anything we needed. We placed our order, waited about 30 minutes, and we see people that showed up after us getting their food before us. We asked for to go containers, and then watched our server give out bags to everyone else except us. We asked for the check and had to wait for that as well. Last night my husband decided to deviate from normal routine and actually go out on a Friday night. And instead of going Geneva decided to try St. Charles instead of Geneva to have dinner. Perused his phone and found Duke's Northwoods. We arrived in the heat of dinner rush and were told it would be a 40 minute wait. So unlike my husband we waited. And so glad we did! We were greeted by the hostess, Nanci and it looked like there were 2 ready tables. She was a good judge of character and saw how tall my husband is and gave us the 4 top over the tiny 2 top. Smart young woman! Then we were greeted by our server, Grace, very charismatic young woman, and she took our order. Husband had the pike and I had the bbq flatbread. Both were unbelievable! And my flatbread happened to be one of the specials so it was only about $10! For dessert Grace had suggested the skillet cookie. Blew our minds! We are both dessert fiends, especially if it's chocolate, and totally consumed all it! Not like any other we have ever had before! I want to love Duke's... The decor is great, the open garage view off the back is fun and the WI motif is welcoming. Our server was really nice, and the hostess was great. The owner was there that day and friendly with guests. My son ordered the tenders. They were overdone. It was sad, as the ones at Flagship (same owner) are his favorite, so he was really looking forward to these. His buddy had the fish sandwich. He really liked his choice. I picked at the fries, and they were good. I had a garden salad, I liked it. Basic, but good ranch dressing makes any salad great. We also ordered the cheese curds, some people rave about them, but they are not for me. I did not like the beer batter they used. The crust was soft and chewy and not crispy like I would prefer. Super cool spot indoors and out! The wisconsin theme shows with the bass filled walls, camo bathroom details, and wisconsin memorabilia all throughout. The outdoor patio keeps the theme going outside and gives a great view of the river! We experienced helpful and friendly service. The butter burger was average but the fries were so good that every time someone tried them they commented on how good they are. The bacon jam burger meal was good just missing more bacon flavor. The wings were also nothing crazy. Not pictured but also consumed were the fish nuggets which were tasty with the lemon sauce. The shrimp cocktail has large shrimps and also was delicious. Made my way to Duke's to catch up with friends and check out this newer St Charles bar spot. The back entryway was stunning with a beautiful mural, large windows that open to the outside, and accommodated a decent sized parking lot that offered (2) electric car charging spots. When you enter through the back entry, one still needs to check in at the host stand all the way up front. The inside offers a cozy bar scene that leans heavily into the woods and sporting theme. We sat in the dining area for prime Thursday service and it did get a tad loud and hard to hear each other. Our waitress was wonderful and attentive. Our group shared the pretzel bites with beer cheese and cheese curds with chipotle ranch. Apps were on point! Each of us ordered the smashburger for our meal with different sides of french fries, tots, and fingerlings. The burger came out a bit overcooked and could have been juicier but it could just be a concern with the smashburger style patty itself. Our group took full advantage of Happy Hour deals offered M-F 3-6pm but I would love to go back to try regular menu items! Tip: no reservations are offered at this time. read more

We really enjoyed our visit to Duke's Northwoods. This place is a sweet spot that is really well done to resemble a bar/grill found in the Northwoods of WI. Lots of WI decor here that makes it fun to spot all the WI stuff. The place was pretty packed around 330 in the afternoon and the wait had two people ahead of us. Their app said 15 minutes after we put our name in and that's about what it took to get our table. We ordered some drinks and the cheese curds for an appetizer. The cheese curds were fantastic. I wish they put more on the tray. It wasn't very full. Their beer menu is great with some local STC beers on tap as well as a good cocktail list. My wife ordered their bloody Mary and it was great. For meals my wife and I split their Door County Salad and the Morning Glory Burger. both were also very good and we highly recommend them. The burger had bacon and egg ok it and the burger had a coffee rub as well. Given the great quality that we've had at Flagship, we knew this place would also be great two since they're both under the same ownership.
