I know Saturday mornings are busy here, but are they so busy that it's okay to COMPLETELY IGNORE someone in the place? Well on Saturday, February 20, 2016 they did just that. I often meet friends at the one in Rosamond and so I thought the same friendly service awaited me at this location, but no. First off, the guy at the door said, "We have a spot at the bar, otherwise you'll have to wait." I looked around. There were no other people waiting to be seated. I also saw a booth with no one in it. I asked if that booth was available. He hemmed and hawed a little before deciding it would all right to seat me at the booth. I was going to let his little display go when, as I was removing my jacket, a young lady asked what I would like to drink. I told her and proceeded to wait for my beverage and a waitress. My beverage arrived post haste. After about 10 minutes, and watching every waitress in the place walk by me, look at me then walk away, I realized that busy or not, this was a case of too many, "not my table, not my responsibility, if I ignore it it will go away". The young lady who took my drink order then asked, "has she taken your order yet?" I replied, "Nope, no one has even acknowledged I'm here except you." Since I hadn't taken even one sip of my drink, I didn't feel obligated to stay, so I stood up, gathered my jacket, helmet and gloves and turned to leave. Finally, a waitress looked at me and said, "Is no one coming?" I replied, "No. I've been ignored by every waitress in the place. I'm going elsewhere." Quite a disappointment since I'd been craving a ham and cheese omelet from Crazy Otto's for a couple of days and had just finished riding my motorcycle to find the one in Leona Valley is gone, so I came back to Lancaster hoping to eat at this one. It's worth the wait!Even though the wait really as long as I initially thought it would be. The service was top notch. The waiters make sure everything is delivered fast. The place is very busy, very family friendly, and very good prices. The prime rib & eggs & huge portion of hasbrowns! is very very good, so good that this tiny 110 pound girl can put down a whole piece of it! No better place on planet Earth to eat breakfast than Crazy Otto's. Great food in mass quantities. Don't even attempt a full breakfast; unless you are a starving, grown-ass man, get the half order. We always start our motorcycle rides with breakfast at Crazy Otto's. Nobody is hungry before dinner. Friendly service. Inexpensive. The license plate collection on the walls will keep your eyes busy. I am not necessarily giving all the food at Crazy Otto's 5 Stars, the 5 stars is for: THE BISCUITS & GRAVY. The biscuits are warm, flaky and crusty... with a buttery salty aftertaste. Hearty and buttermilky, they satisfy every carb craving you'll ever have. But it's when you combine the biscuits with their gravy that things will start to get a little hot n steamy :) The gravy is divine: rich hearty salty pork-flecked creamy chunky gravy... I hated gravy until I had it at Crazy Otto's, and since I don't live in the area, I am forever looking for a substitute for their perfect gravy... I have traveled a lot. And I still haven't found it. The biscuits & gravy, people... that's what it's all about! (PS I have had other stuff on the menu: the omelettes are ginormous, I really think one can feed about 3 moderately hungry people. I went on a Sunday with my parents and even though the place was JAM PACKED, it was outstanding service. I thoroughly enjoy my meals every single time I come here. This place has been a constant for me since my long gone days of hangover mornings & diner escapades...however it has always been one of the greatest deals around. Not only do you get the best portion sizes, whether you're super hungry or wanting to share, the food is delicious. I would recommend just about anything on the menu...although I'm partial to breakfast myself. The prices are comparable to the big chain joints, but the atmosphere is def more unique. Service is always nice, haven't had a rude server yet. The only thing to watch out for is weekend mornings, especially Sunday and any holiday like Mother's Day. Get there early or be prepared for a wait. 2 locations both in Lancaster are equally good, however I tend to frequent the one on 20th & K, a little more cozy & quaint in my opinion. read more

Crazy Ottos is one of my favorite restaurants in the Antelope Valley. When I first moved here for work, I was disappointed at the lack of small mom/pop joints like this one. This is a little, decorated restaurant you'll find in a place which seems to be in the middle of nowhere. Everything is built up into presentation on breakfast and later meals. Assortments of in-building decor will allow visitors some eye candy near the tables close to ends where touching walls meet into Crazy Otto's harmony of atmosphere. People often come here for biscuits and gravy since both are homemade recipes conceived of in genius for environmental tasks across the lobby, a room filled with funny memorabilia we see on road trips between California and other exact parts of America. Eggs can be made into whatever style preferred although I may suggest going easy on hot sauce or ketchup. But that's just preference, nothing more. A lot of meals are imagined well by Crazy Otto's. Particulars include hamburger patty meals for breakfast and even country fried steak that both give me a tasty, flavorful experience on Lancaster's proper proportions of dining and general entertainment. Workers, crew members, are often on the case for helping customers out with pride and dignity and aren't like those cashiers we see at certain fast food places who save face with rough hands. Don't get me wrong; McDonald's can be very good, but this Crazy Otto's Diner should be more of an obligation for guys who truly enjoy the pleasure of dining and eating out. Customers are friendly here too and it's not unusual to dip into some small talk with a gentleman who's out with his family. It's very crowded every time we come in. Refills of coffee are typical; that's good. I've been at ease on a lot of tasks since my family enjoys the whole independence assumed from getting out for to dine. Food usually comes steaming hot as far as my own visits are concerned but I'll leave it up to the whole community to decide for themselves. Besides a nice time out for a bite you'll find Crazy Otto's across the way between various markets. Walmart isn't far off and it feels good to bug a worker there about Crazy Otto's during the heat of traffic, so there's hope for elements mattered into reality before us on a high note to perfection in restaurant, dining, and personal communication given between us at the local restaurant just mentioned. Plates and utensils here are readily clean and available. The omelettes are especially surprising: big, giant plates topped with ingredients and plenty of hash browns which stretch across the plate almost entirely itself. Honestly, me and my family have had to put in our excellence of manners as well, but we'll get our just desserts over the years into the upcoming decades as road trips are imagined and pardoned by humorous reality within our hearts. read more

This is the quintessential breakfast joint. Rustic, fun theme items all over, staff that has been serving for years and always have a pleasant disposition when we come in. I've never had anything bad here in nearly 20 years of coming. The portion sizes far exceed the price you pay for them which never seems to be a problem either. They are known for their omelettes, but I'm particularly partial to their corned beef hash or their patty platter. You really can't go wrong with anything you get though. read more

Great breakfast place with huge portions. We came in with a party of 5. We must have left with enough leftovers for another party of 5. I'm not even kidding! Ordered 2 steaks with pancakes / eggs, hash browns. 2 huge omelets and another breakfast plate that had everything. One thing I missed while living out of state was the local diner that felt worn in, time tested, and welcoming. I've visited Otto's during trips home to L.A. and w/in my first week back as a full-time resident, I took my always-hungry, non-weight-gaining hubby and kids to Otto's for brunch. This joint is a dive and we love it. Clean, friendly staff, worn in at all the right places, good prices and good food. Little tip: Ask for Dawn, she's the best server. Another little tip: Portions are HUGE so we order one adult meal for the kids to share; there is even a bit leftover. Hubs is a corned beef aficionado. He loves Otto's. Well seasoned, just enough fat to keep it moist and tender, yet still lean and served up on a huge platter w/thick cut, homemade hash browns. He didn't finish. He ALWAYS finishes. He was thrilled that for $10 bucks he had a great meal and left overs for the next morning. I'm not usually a fan of French toast but Otto's does it right. Not all soggy inside, not made w/wimpy bread. This is thick brioche, dipped in a sweet batter, grilled till crispy around the edges, nicely toasted on the surface, warm on the inside, dusted w/powdered sugar and served w/real maple syrup. Heaven at the breakfast table. All total, we usually spend around $35-37 bucks for three adult size meals and drinks w/lots of leftovers - so really, more like four adult meals. With a hash of knickknacks and license plates cluttering up the walls and tables with advertisements laminated into the tabletops, you really get the sense that this is locals kind of place. Try their Ortega Omelet or Roast Beef Omelet. Get the full size for around $8. They're HUGE! On Sundays, they have excellent Prime Rib Sandwiches which are filled with tender prime rib, Ortega chili, provolone, on sourdough. Hearty food and large portions at good prices. For some reason, a ton of breakfast/lunch diners I've been to have a similar license plates from all over and random pictures, articles as decor. Was in Lancaster over the weekend for my daughter's soccer game. Couldn't decide where to go for breakfast so I looked up yelp and Crazy Otto's was highly recommended. This place seems to be a Mom n Pops place. We came in and the place is packed. We were greeted by their friendly staff and was seated right away. Portions are big and good for 2 people, but since Me and my daughter were feeling hungry, we ordered our own. I had the Pork Chop and she had the Patty Melt. I ate here because of the reviews on yelp. My brother wanted to get something to eat on Sunday morning but had to settle for Ihop because the line was out of the door. So come Monday morning, he wants to get something to eat...We try to eat here again and it is still busy. We walk in and the place is a cozy little place that is decorated with old lic. plates from different states. Service was great and the food was plentiful. I had eggs Benedict and will admit that i have had Hollendaise sauce that was more flavorful. My brother had the Corn beef hash and he seemed to enjoy his meal. Lowdown: Food: Ordered Top Sirloin w/scrambled eggs, biscuit and gravy and an arnold palmer. Steak was bland, tough and chewy. Eggs had eggshell in it and wasn't all that good. Biscuit was not bad, gravy was nothing to write home about. Drink was watery. Service: Friendly and nice staff who came back to check on us periodically. Great for a very casual brunch, bring your appetite or a friend. The atmosphere is very laid back and has a biker feel. The inside was dark with booths and wooden walls. HUGE omelets! They are paper thin, almost like crepes, and stuffed with deliciousness. It comes with equally as large hashbrowns and the option of biscuits and gravy or toast. I spilt the plate with my husband and we still could not finish the meal. But I did order a pancake to try. Everything was delish except the biscuits and gravy.... gravy did not have any "drippings" taste to it and the biscuits were like rolls. Haven't been to Crazy Otto's in years. I wasn't missing much. Place on 20th across from Albertsons was very busy. The waitress promptly took our order. I don't eat a lot so I ordered an egg over easy and one biscuit and gravy. My friend ordered an omelet which was huge! My egg was cold and the gravy was tasteless. I was disappointed and when I told the waitress, she got angry and wouldn't acknowledge me. I won't be back. read more
