I brought in my hairless cat and the vet literally laughed at me for purchasing what she called a "Fad Breed" and then proceeded to tell me over and over again that she would take this money pit off my hands. She loves the breed and bla bla bla . . . "no really, I can take her if you ever change your mind." Who says such a thing!? Disgusting. They have also quoted me $1400. to spay her!!!! I can't say enough positive things about the amazing care Crazy Paws has given both my dogs, Mya and Desi. Although Mya was my younger dog, she suddenly collapsed and in a panic, I called Crazy Paws. Much to my relief, I was told to bring her in immediately. Unfortunately, it was too late for my baby girl, but the compassion and care the staff at Crazy Paws gave Mya helped us through this difficult time. Dr Henry-Hill always made Mya and Desi feel comfortable during their visits and we were also able to meet Dr Hill at Mya's last appointment as he offered his expertise in trying to diagnose and treat her unknown ailment. I have been taking my pets here for 13 years. Dr Henry is fantastic, professional and compassionate. Unfortunately today I saw the new vet Dr, Desmond. She was rude and unprofessional. Very focused on over prescribing for allergies when my dog only had an itchy paw, and No history of allergies. Hes just over a year old. She recommended antihistamine shots every month for $150. She also mentioned that his legs were balding. She has never seen this dog before. I told her his legs always look like that. Finally, she gave me some wipes for the paw, which was what I was looking for all along. Then after being there for over an hour, (sitting in the room while she was reading his chart in the other room for 20 minutes.) She tells me you have to come back for his immunizations because she doesn't like to " overload" him. . I then communicated my dissatisfaction to his assistant. Our next visit to crazy paws veterinary was a big disappointment. A bad judgement call made by their staff last time we brought in our poodle. We made a fast trip to Angell in Boston, and their amazing staff told us, everything that was prescripted to our dog was way to high for her and even what they told us was her problem was also wrong ! My primary Vet is at the Navy Base in Newport but this office is great enough to work with them if I need urgent care for my pups. As it turned out I did and they were exceptional! BAD BAD BAD. Do not take your pet here! ZERO STARS IF WE COULD! We brought our family kitty here last Tuesday because he was unable to urinate. The vet repeatedly stated to us that they had removed a urethral mucous plug blockage and the cat was doing "great" but they wanted to keep him to monitor him for a couple of days. Our mother, trusting the team at Crazy Paws, whole heartedly believed in their ability to save her beloved cat. She patiently waited, and was told he would be able to come home Thursday, and she was thrilled! We continued to check in over the next few days and although they kept saying the cat was doing ok, we were confused as to why the cat still needed to be kept at the vet. Inexplicably, we received a call Saturday afternoon stating the cat was having renal kidney failure and was close to dying. They suggested that we leave the cat there, unattended over the weekend and we would regroup Monday morning. Are you kidding me??? We called back 3-4 times after that before finally getting an answer. When we went to pick up the cat the employees were very rude to us, including the owner of the clinic. Our mother was beyond devastated by the news, and as her adult children, we decided to take over his care to lessen her burden. We asked for copies of the x-rays and test results and they gave us dirty looks and told us that she was doing this as a favor by letting us come in and pick up our cat "after hours" and that she had to keep her staff working past their normal shift and this prevented them from being able to eat lunch-- and continuously conversed about where to go get "dinner and drinks". Sorry our dying cat was such a burden that you were deprived from your lunch. After feeling uncomfortable with the care we felt KitKat received, we opted to bring him to an emergency clinic DIRECTLY after picking him up. Unfortunately it was too late, his kidneys had completely failed, and he was truly dying. The staff there were absolutely APPALLED at the story we had shared, along with a sparse amount of records we were provided (dinner and drinks were much more important than being able to provide records). We were informed that if symptoms had not improved after a blockage was removed, he should have immediately been referred to a specialist (never once was this mentioned). After repeated lab work and studies at the emergency clinic, we were informed he had a 10% chance of survival, and would have PERMANENT renal failure, and he would be a very sick and unhealthy cat. For the quality of life him, we decided to let him cross the rainbow bridge. He was suffocating in his own fluids, due to the overload that CrazyPaws caused (he was two pounds heavier, bloated and drooling at the mouth, not the last memory we were hoping to see). A true sight to see. For the record, we are public servants, medical and law enforcement, and we would NEVER EVER EVER treat a family the way they did us, and leave a patient to die, animal or human. Unfortunately sometimes you stay late, you miss a meal, or you get caught up-- that is what you sign up for when caring for others. Needless to say, won't be coming back here. I'm sure the arm and a leg you received from us for doing absolutely nothing helps you sleep at night though. We have now lost a member of our beloved family, due to negligent care and inability to handle such a complex case, SHAME ON THIS CLINIC! read more

Do the kind thing and take your pet to someone who actually cares. My parents brought their rescue here for check ups and treatment. After it was confirmed that their puppy had been in close contact with another dog with highly contagious mites and scabies, the vet told my mother, "We don't see it necessary to see your puppy." Despite itching herself bloody (with ineffectual medicine and remedies prescribed), and the obvious connection between her symptoms and her constant contact with another infected puppy, the vet refused to schedule a follow-up appointment, deeming it "not necessary." It's horrifying to think that a person who would supposedly dedicate their life to helping animals is turning them away when they are clearly ill; however, it's not completely surprising given she couldn't accurately diagnose what our puppy's skin irritation was, prescribing what seemed to be random medicines in hopes of it going away. This is an unfit practice, and I will never return. In fact, when I called another vet to schedule an appointment there, they asked where our puppy was seen before and scoffed when we said "Crazy Paws." If you care for your pet, don't take them to the laughingstock of the vet field. read more

The amount of empathy, understanding and compassion that they share through this hard time was incredible. Dr. Fawn especially is a real life unicorn veterinarian. I need to clearly state that Crazy Paws is fantastic if you have Dr. Fawn Stevenson treat your beloved pet. She is beyond exceptional in every way and she has very caring techs as well. She has saved many a dog's life by taking them home with her to spend the night right next to them or staying at the hospital to watch over their care at night. What vet does that? She is unparalleled both in her knowledge and her depth of loving care she administers both to her patients and their families. However, I have extraordinarily severe factual criticism which is documented in my beloved dog;s medical record about the vet, Dr. Todd Seidman who during Fawn's leave of absence cared for my beloved dog who died. I have waited 5.5 months to write this to remove the emotion from this post as I have never written a review on anything before. First, Todd Seidman did not know that Leptospirosis was in our area. "He thought it was only down South" as he stated to me on 2/15/19. The frightening significance of this is that Leptospirosis is communicable to people and can cause organ failure in people as it did in my beloved dog. It is spread through exposure to their urine which I had been doing for months while cleaning up after her. The test that determined that my dog had it was administered by a substitute vet, Dr. Marc 5 days before my dog died. It was too late as she had been overdosed by so many antibiotics and other meds from Todd Seidman that were not recommended for Lepto, she was dying. Once Lepto was discovered, he prescribed two antibiotics that were recommended as either or, but insisted they be given together. Also while hospitalized by my request for IV fluids to try to deal with the kidney failure, he did not administer IV nutrition (which was on-site) for my dog for 3.5 days when she was too ill to eat. When I addressed this, he stated "that she needed a port", but it is administered though IV regularly as I have learned and her veins were not collapsed. I have been told that this is a reportable offense by another vet. I am writing this post to ask anyone to read this very truthful and devastating account in hopes that it will save your pet's life. My beloved girl was so full of life just a few months before and the grief from her death still overwhelming at times. read more

I think this is only the second review I have ever written, but it needs to be said. I went to Crazy Paws for a third opinion for the sudden lumps noted on my 10 year old Maltese's abdomen. Having met Dr. Fawn Stevenson I was immediately confident that she was the doctor for my Ruby and me. She was kind, extremely knowledgable, and senisble in her approach and her recommendations. Bottom line she was 100 % correct in her diagnosis. I feel we were spared not only financially but more importantly we did not have to put our girl through any undue pain or danger. I loved the vet office! I decided to give it a try on the recommendation of a friend of a friend. Staff was very pleasant and welcoming for my first visit with my new puppy. They were thorough and informative! The doctor even got on the floor with my puppy to examine her. I typically do not write reviews. However, our experience here was noteworthy for a number of reasons. In many ways two of the current vets here are great and had seen us through many difficult moments with our crew of 4 dogs. However, I believe they do not handle any questioning of their recommendations or their approach to their patients and their customers very well. We were poorly treated by a new vet (there is a big turnover here) with whom we had had little contact. She was condescending and began every sentence of her interaction with both myself and my husband with "if she were my dog". She presented our dog's condition in one way and then did a total reversal in her recommendation of what we should do. She did not seem capable of handling being questioned by individuals who are experienced dog owners and professionals themselves. When we raised concerns about this we were basically told it was our problem - all this in the midst of needing to make a decision about what to do regarding a much-loved 16 year old dog. Adding insult to injury, we had been quoted one price for this dog's care, in a final attempt to save her, and were met with a much larger price tag when we went to pick her up. I would say the prices here are quite high and often unexpectedly high. So, be prepared - you may end up with a bill that exceeds what you expect and what you've been told. Adding further insult upon injury, even though we were making payments toward the balance remaining, our outstanding balance was (within a month) sent to collections. We had given this vet practice years of our business and spent tons of money with them. I couldn't believe they would be so uncaring and unprofessional. We had always paid all of our bills with them and I felt we were treated just like a number on a piece of paper. All of this after my husband sent them a long letter explaining our concerns - a letter they never bothered to even honor with a response.
