Omg so gooooddd! My sis brought me to one of her fav spots for brunch. Specifically the chicken and waffles. She got that and I got the fried chicken sandwich on croissant with a side of the pepper jelly. So glad I did! I just wasn't feeling waffles but I love fried chicken. Plus this had candied bacon that I love. My bf had the BLT Benedict with grits. He liked it. Especially the fried tomato was diff and good. The spiced pina colada was refreshing. Made with Pineapple juice (not the pre made mixes) and possible a little sweet coconut cream. The aged rum helps lessen the sweetness. But wished it had more coconut though. The wait was pretty long though. To get seated wasn't too long (about 25mins). we ordered right away since we had time to peruse. But the food took about 45 mins to come out. Soooo yea. I follow the Facebook page and absolutely had this restaurant marked as a "must try". On Sunday 9/28/24 our travels had us in close proximity to the Mandeville location. Excitedly we made our way. We put our name on the list and surprisingly, we were promptly seated. Our waiter was very informative and patient while answering our many questions. When we ordered, AUSTIN, was awesome. He made suggestions to my husband's order and to mine that proved to be well worth it! Our food was piping hot, tasted excellent, and service, although busy with the Saturday crowd, was top notch. The crazy southern pig is a cute cozy restaurant with a number of choices for any palate. I stopped in for lunch today and was pleasantly surprised when my food came out. Not only did it look like the pictures, the food tasted just as good as it looked. Food arrived shortly after it was ordered, although there was a pretty full restaurant. I had a fried chicken sandwich with praline bacon, the bacon added needed flavor, however adding the pickles on my plate took this sandwich to another level. Mac and cheese side was ok. It was described as baked but more on the creamier side. Being as hungry as i was I took the the first bite before capturing a picture. My table also had fish and grits which came with a biscuit. The biscuit was one of the largest I've seen and I from the way it was devoured I imagine it tasted great. The grits had a good consistency, no lumps . The sauce was not my favorite. To best describe the flavor it was more of a brown gravy. Overall the experience was pretty good. The owner checked on patrons, my server was patient and very attentive. I would come back. Decided to stop based on Yelp reviews on our way from Texas to FL. We had the praline bacon starter -(2 orders) . Should have just done 1 order. Two pieces of bacon for $6 is a lot. My husband got the Ponchatrain Benedict and said it was delicious. I was less adventurous due to a gluten allergy and stuck with the two egg breakfast. Our starter was a bit burnt and that was only negative. Portion sizes are huge The biscuit (which I could not eat) was a hit amongst the others in my group. Pricing is a bit high for breakfast. This place is tucked away in a shopping center in the corner of the lot. If you blink...you will miss it! Big sign outside is labeled "Southern Kitchen" with little pig flying on it. Such a lovely southern decor...almost as if you are eating at home! Its a busy busy place. Est. wait time was 15 mins but it was more like 30 mins. Totally worth the wait for a Sunday morning. I love the place settings...definitely family like breakfast! Plenty of parking. Service was family style where everyone seems to know your name! They have a pretty sizable menu plus specials on the board. My hubby seems to always lean towards Benedict. Both were enjoyable. Whole hog benny was delicious and crispy. Ponchartrain benny was slightly modified... he doesn't like raw tomatoes so we opted for Fried Green Tomato! It was a great substitution. It brings another texture element to the dish. Benny's can sometimes be too soft with monotextures...but with something crunchy added...it elevates this dish! I was torn and decided to try their banana fosters french toast and crab shrimp corn soup. Good soup...not overly salty and had real crab meat in it! I'm super picky about my french toast. When in NOLA, french toast should be made with french bread! This was one!!! It had a banana puree inside the bread. I had requested for my BFFT to have all sauces on side so i can control the sweetness level. I don't like my foods soggy or overly sweet. On the side, there was a cream cheese mixture, pecan brown sugar and the caramel rum sauce. Needless to say...i finished the whole thing! It was amazing...esp since i was able to control the sweetness intake! I highly recommend you try this exactly as I have ordered it! I didn't like the grits tho. It was too soupy for me. Crazy Pig is a crazy good spot for brunch in Mandeville. I know. I know. If you know me and read that title you probably thought I was hacked by the Russian troll farms. I am not a brunch fan. In fact, I normally want to punch brunch in the face. I hate fancy breakfast and I hate brunch. It is just the way it is. So how did this brunch hating lunatic end up eating brunch at a restaurant he had never heard of. Well, what happened was...... My brother came in town with his kids and recommended this place. He had apparently been here with my mom before and invited me to meet him there one Sunday morning. I hardly get to see him so despite my hatred of brunch, I went. When we arrived the place was hopping. That is a very good sign since several other businesses in this location have failed. The restaurant is very attractive and has a high end feel to it. We had to wait a little while, but that is understandable due to the crowd and the weird table size we needed to accommodate us. Service was very attentive and friendly. In fact, it was great. Normally when you have a group and a place is packed service suffers. This was not the case. The one issue was the delay in getting our food, but again, the place was packed. Plus I didn't mind because I got to talk to my brother, nephews, and my mom. All in all, I probably appreciated the delay. Now for the most important part, the food. I decided to get their build your own omelet. I am very particular about my omelets because as you read in the beginning, I am a lunatic. Was it the best omelet I have ever had? No. Was it pretty darn good? Yes. The list of options to build your own omelet are extensive. Not in the mood for an omelet? They also have all varieties of fancy pants breakfast and brunch food. This place came up and it got really good reviews so we decided to stop in. The staff was fantastic. Everybody was very friendly and personable. The manager or owner was there and recommended the schnitzel I ordered that and my wife got one of the Benedict. The Benedict was really good. The eggs were perfectly cooked. The schnitzel was one of the best I've ever had. They also had special blackberry drinks that day. The blackberry margarita was out of this world. We will definitely be back. read more

It's been a few weeks since I tried this place and I was very much disappointed with my experience after reading such wonderful reviews. The wait time is HORRIBLY long. Waiting to be seated was only about 10 minutes, which isn't bad, but after being seated it was OVER an hour for food to come out for 2 people. The waitress, while friendly, was nowhere to be found for most of the time there. We were told it'd be worth the wait for the food, but sadly, their food was VERY disappointing. The only thing I enjoyed was the candied bacon. The rest of the food was just meh - nothing special to make it worth the wait. I had specified how I wanted my egg and that was totally disregarded and not done properly. When this was mentioned to the waitress, after flagging her down to pay the bill and how I literally only ate the bacon and NOTHING else on the plate, we were given a $10 gift card to use for next time. I'd have rather they took off the food the wasn't correct. After the experience and lack of really handling anything, long waits, and overpriced food to top it off - we won't be back. read more

One of the few times when the reviews actually match the location. We come in from MS occasionally always looking for some place new to try. We looked at the Yelp reviews and this place had high marks. It's mainly a Brunch location so Supper is not offered. The place was rather small but the menu was gigantic. There was multiple vairation of standard Souther fair. We were a party of 4 and the entire order came out hot for everyone. There was a slight mix-up on who got what, the orders were very similar (Seafood omelet vs Crawfish omelet). Both tasted so good that neither my wife or my daugther wanted to switch back to their original order. The food was very good all around. I had the Crazy Pig Omelet with the variation of being scrambled. The eggs were cooked to my liking and the flavor was outstanding. Now the other part was the server. If you get a chance to visit, I hope you get Gina as your server. She was very personable. We interacted with several staff members and they all were very nice, but Gina was our main server. She went out of her way to make us feel welcome. Them we find out that she was just being her normal friendly self. Personnal can make or break a place. She's a keeper.
