In my last review, I said that I would never return to Sora. However, I just could not forget the crab legs and the peel and eat shrimp. This time we went for lunch instead of an early dinner. They said because of the holiday coming up the lunch would be at the dinner price. The food at this lunch was very very fresh and of course delicious. The sushi was very popular although I didn't eat any. My husband did like it. The only things we tried and didn't really like where the desserts The service was very efficient. Do NOT sleep on this place. After Minado closed down, we were so sad that our sushi buffet for family celebrations was gone, and we had read some of the early reviews of Sora and decided to wait a bit to try it. But this was SO GOOD. Holy moly, the value here is phenomenal, and all of the food and drinks are delicious. I could write pages about this place, but some of the highlights (we went for dinner, but a lot of the highlights are also at lunch): 1. Oysters (dinner only I believe) - WHAT unlimited oysters? Sign me up! With a little bit of lemon these were so fresh and sweet and succulent. The only issue with these is that they go out FAST so you have to be lucky to get some or pay attention. But seriously, I'd pay $3 a piece for these oysters at an actual restaurant, and here they are UNLIMITED. Automatic win. There's also cold shrimp and crab legs here which were great with some lemon and soy sauce. 2. Lobster (dinner only I believe) - Same deal as the oysters - these get taken quickly, but probably a little more wiggle room than the oysters. The lobster is cooked in a ginger scallion Cantonese sauce and is pre-cracked, so there's no need to work hard to get the meat out. Sweet, delicious, and wonderful. 3. Sashimi - You never have to worry about this running out - there were piles of this stuff all evening. The salmon and tuna were cut in HUGE slices, and there was a white fish with some spicy seasoning on it that was also delicious. I got so much of this, and they even did trays of the larger fish eggs which are so delicious. Everything here was not as fresh as a fine sushi restaurant, but still fresh enough to taste great and not be worrisome. 4. Nigiri Sushi - I didn't have as much of this to save on stomach room because of the rice, but the squid nigiri was great and covered in roe. There was also a seared salmon with black bits on it that turned out to be truffle - so rich and fatty but really delicious. 5. The hot food was decent, but nothing to write home about except for the lobster. Still, the dim sum wasn't bad at all and I got a few pieces, the squid was pretty fresh tasting, and the overall selection and quality seemed pretty high. I loved how much variety there was of everything. 5. Drinks - THE DRINKS. No other buffet I know of has unlimited branded drinks. There are cups full of bubble teas in the back for you to take and so many different cans of different drinks. I had 5 different drinks with some of the highlights being the lychee ones, the ramune, and an asian pear drink. The bubble teas were a bit richer so they were more filling, but still delicious and worth a try. 6. DESSERTS - I didn't have many pastries, but I had 4 melonas. Melona are SO GOOD and they had 4 flavors - melon, strawberry, mango, and chocolate covered strawberry. There's hot foods such as fried chicken, pizza, ribs, noodles etc. My personal favourite and what I think makes this buffet worth it is the raw bar/seafood. There are mussels, clams, oysters, and crab legs. There's a large selection of sushi, desserts, and fruit (dragonfruit, watermelon, kiwi, pineapple, honeydew and cantaloupe). They had four different soups (seafood, miso, hot and sour, chicken). Lots of desserts including both ice creams and ice cream bars. Drinks are in the back and are self serve. They have tons and tons of variety such as Thai milk tea, HK milk tea, mango pomelo sago, Honest juice boxes, a bunch of Korean drinks, etc. Definitely worth a try. read more

We came here again for dinner and arrived at 4pm on a Saturday. This time, there was no line and we were seated immediately. It was still pretty busy but the lines to get food weren't too bad, and they have implemented some rules since last time. This time, instead of letting people shovel all the lobster onto their plates themselves, there is an employee who rations it. This is a huge improvement from before, and I think there was a lot less line cutting/unruliness this time. I also knew what to focus on more (I prefer the sushi, sashimi, and raw bar) this time and everything was really fresh. I had a dozen raw oysters and this time none of them had a fishy taste. The sago was really good. Some fruits were not as sweet/tasty as others but everything was fresh. Also, staff members were really great at taking away our plates heaped with trash when they got full, so our table wasn't as much of a disaster. A caveat is that I had minor GI issues after I went home that day, but my stomach is rather sensitive and only one other person in our group of 4 had similar issues. Tried this buffet style AYCE sushi restaraunt with a party of 5 on a Wednesday night around 6PM and it was luckily not too busy but got pretty busy around 6:30 and 7pm. We were able to be seated right away and the service was very quick and attentive. As for the food there was a massive amount of food to choose from in the hot bar in the buffet line. The sushi offered a lot of different rolls you could choose from and a bunch of sashimi and nigiri options too. The sushi was pretty good in my opinion. What surprised me the most was the different bubble tea drinks you could choose from which were also apart of the AYCE menu. The inside was pretty clean since the restaurant is fairly new and there was a lot of space inside. This is my 3rd or 4th time visiting this place. Every time I get excited for the concept of eat what I want, how much I want, and having a wide selection that will meet the entire group's cravings. Each time I leave thinking I could've used that money to just order what I wanted, without over eating and get higher quality food elsewhere. The food quality was slightly better this time. For example, the ox tail this time was not as dry as my first visit. There were newer hot foods that I hadn't seen before like the spareribs (not tender enough, but tasted okay). The new little hot soups were really good, with mushrooms and quail egg inside. The soft shell crab has been demoted from it's own featured tray to being combined with something else towards the dim sum area in the back (near the bbq station). It still has no flavor. The orange chicken, got it when it first came out, was very good. The lobster is again overcooked and kinda bland. Once again, it is served to you to control any person from taking the entire tray. Prices continue to not be justified IMHO. If you can, just use that money to go somewhere nice and order higher quality food without over eating. If you haven't been here though, definitely worth a try. Becareful of the sudden Happy Birthday music that blasts out of their speakers unusually loud. You know Minado? The place that was here before? I'd been going there for around 20 years. Despite the quality going down and then down some more, my heart was broken when they closed their doors. But wait! Instagram showed me a reel that a new Japanese buffet opened in its place, and it was a certainty I'd be stopping in and sharing my two cents. I am extremely pleased to say my heart is now unbroken! Don't get me wrong, Sora is far from perfect, but they do a fantastic job filling the void that Minado's closure left. The best things first: the oysters are back! AYCE oysters are a treasure, and I hope it is one that continues into the future. Second, the non-sushi portion of the buffet: while some items are chewy and overall 'not great,' the selection is more often than not reasonably fresh, tasty, and vast. Third, the sushi selection is great, and there is a wonderful selection too. While me being me, I shy away from things with imitation crab and tempura-anything, I still found more than I needed for my heart's content. Last and certainly not least is their dessert section. This one, hands down, blows Minado out of the water. It is a shame I gorged myself to the degree that I did *not* have room for dessert. Oops. I would also like to give some credit to the service, which was as attentive as can be wished from a buffet. When it comes to their vibe, it remains clean and modern - no complaints there. Sora is a decent location for AYCE Asian food. I've been once for dinner and once for lunch and will say that if you are able to - coming for weekday lunch is a much more pleasant experience as it's far less crowded (and not to mention the lunch price, which is a great deal). Lunch time is still relatively busy with about half the tables being taken but no wait. At peak times, the lines can get quite long. Upon being seated, the tables are clean and the staff is prompt in seating you and clearing your finished plates. At lunch time, the raw bar is still open with clams and oysters available. There's also tons of sushi options, both nigiri and maki. I will say that the food isn't the highest quality but you get tons of variety so there's something for everyone. Last time I went, I got a plate from the raw bar and the sushi area and then spent the rest of the time in the hot food section. I really enjoyed the dim sum area with dumplings and buns. There was also various cooked fish and seafood available. I was very excited that there was fish maw soup available - it isn't as high quality as what you would get at a Chinese banquet but I really enjoyed it as it's usually a rare treat for me. Another huge plus is the drink and dessert options! You can either order soft drinks directly from the servers when you're being seated or you can find a variety of premade bubble tea and other canned/pouched drinks available in the dessert area closest to the left wall (on the wall behind the sushi station). There's a large selection of authentic Asian drinks - I usually go for the grass jelly when I'm stopping in. I would say Sora is worth trying out, especially for a weekday lunch meal if you're able. In all honesty, I was upset when I found out Minado closed down. Was it the best sushi? No, but it was the best buffet restaurant in Massachusetts for big groups, best bang for your buck without going home with food poison, or a friendly competition with your siblings to see who can eat the most. Plus, located close to Natick mall. Perfect to eat buffet after some shopping. Oysters and lobsters are available on weekends. Unlimited oysters that actually are good with some lemon squeezed on top. DELICIOUS. Fried lobsters, the Cantonese style. Also delicious but you better keep your eyes open for them because it will go fast. They try to have someone stand there to serve it. Yeah, not that great. JUST MAKE MORE! Sushi selections are not bad either. Most taste the same but you do get your money's worth. Hot foods are alright. Desserts are a good selection but would be better if they offer something like black sesame or matcha soft-serve ice-cream on a cone. Unlimited drinks (on the desserts aisle by the back wall, one aisle over from their sushi and fruit aisle of food). Too many people every time I go so I couldn't take photos unless I want to put emoji face on everyones and their children's face. By the way, there's no such lines here unless you're waiting for the hot foods. So if you happen to see a giant line, it's for the hot foods. Sushi/oyster lines are different. Personally, I just go up and grab everything I want on different plates then enjoy it at the table with family/friends. It's a lot less chaotic, especially if you have little kids at the table to not cause a scene at the food area. They can go crazy at the dessert area. Sorry, not sorry. Trust me, it's actually better than Minado. Just a side note that tips are included in the bills for big parties. One time I went with about 8 others and did not realized it. The friendly waitress let us know we over-tipped her cause tip was already included. She didn't have to do that but it was really nice of her since we paid for the giant group. It's about $40 per person who are 12 years old and up. Have a much bigger party? They can do that but you must call for reservation of a giant party of like 20+ people. Went during dinner time (around 5:30pm) on a Saturday and this place was slammed (it had been open for less than a month at this point). Until the novelty wears off, make sure to give yourself ample time if you have a party larger than 2 or you'll end up waiting a while. It had been a very long time since I've been to Minados which was replaced by Sora but I do vaguely recall the layout being similar. Price for an adult dinner is $38.99 as of 5/2025. Buffet food is your standard fare with a few notable exceptions. 1. The sushi is a grade higher than your typical sushi buffet but still not quite up to par with a dedicated sushi place (which is obvious). 2. Crab legs, crawfish, lobsters, clams - This is the defining factor that separates this from you typical Chinese buffet. For me, the most surprising dish is the ginger lobster which is something you would see at a Chinese restaurant and surprisingly this was the highlight for me since it's very close to the quality. A typical ginger lobster at a restaurant would be over $30 usually at market prices. 3. Pork ribs. Very good and tender. 4. Honey chicken. A tad on the sweeter end but it's definitely something different and tastes great. They also have a section where you can get some beverages including taro milk, milk teas and various juices. I tried their "grapefruit" juice which was SUPER sweet (avoid if you like the tartness of an authentic grapefruit juice). The biggest issue we had was evidently non-functional A/C at the time. While it wasn't very hot outside, inside the tile floors was almost a hazard as it was slick from the condensation. It felt like I was eating in a tropical jungle from the humidity which negatively affected our meal. Without working A/C I would rank this 3 stars, but assuming they fix it and the hype dies down, I'd recommend this place (assuming you like the aforementioned sea food and sushi). read more

Not bad for what it is, but then again we've only gone during lunch. Taking the place of what used to be Minado, there is potential for improvement as this place recently opened. It's pretty spacious for a place and has nice waitstaff, but some of the food items felt rather so-so -- especially with how warm/cold some of the foods get from staying out. To me, the sushi/sashimi options were mid with the fish not feeling like they're the freshest and finding the occasional scale or small bone from time to time. Though the hot bar items were pretty good if you can catch some of them while warm. Plus in the back, there's a fridge with plenty of different teas and sweets. However, that's just it. Not much really eye catching, but just more of a VERY basic buffet in my option. Anyway, would come back just to see if there are any changes/improvements, but overall for a buffet, it at the very least gets the job done (for some of the basic cravings)... so would probably come back for that point too, if I'm in the area. read more

However if you aren't there when you get the text they could very well skip to next person within 5minutes. Overall same as minados minus the soft serve ice cream. They had some Chinese food selections general gau, meat cuts in the hot aisle, mayo shrimp, full head shrimp, fried shrimp, crab rangoons. Drinks they didn't have many of the included boba style. They had powder honeydew, and Asian canned drinks and box juices. Ice cream was the hood style vanilla, chocolate, strawberry cups (that you ate with wooden spoon as a kid). The lobster was good on the second batch, overly sweet on the first batch. Came back here a second time with 6 hours left in the day. Tried to call to check waitlist, check online and check their app if it's possible what the wait is if any, but unfortunately they don't have that info up or pickup the phones. They apparently are closed for rest of the day, no updates anywhere or phone pickup. So waste of a long drive down to natick and a waste of time and gas. Maybe as they move forward the system will get better and i hope it does. Have friends and family that want to try still. I have been seeing videos for Sora online for a while and finally got to try it! Was an hour drive for us but was worth it. It's in a plaza near Natick Mall with plenty of parking. We went Saturday night and it was very busy! There were long lines of people; you can check in on a computer and put your info , they will text when ready. There was 12 of us so we thought we would have a long weight, but we got lucky that another group of 12 cancelled so we got sat quickly. The waitress took out drink orders quickly; they have soft drink/coffee/tea included but you can order beers or wine for extra. It's a layback dinning experience, can be very loud, good for groups, families or solo. The buffet is exactly how o saw on videos! I went directly to the seafood and there were so many options! Second round i went to sushi; options of raw and cooked rolls, all different kinds and so fresh! Love it! I was too full to try other things but my friends all raved of other things they tried, from meats to salads to deserts. I will definitely go back! read more

Not too shabby for an AYCE Sushi buffet! We used to like coming to Minado back in the day, but in recent years, it had lost its pizzazz. So we were excited to check out the renovated spot that happens to be owned by hungrypot, one our fave hotpot/kbbq spots! Plenty of lot parking and the place is pretty huge inside. The layout is the same but decor has been spruced up. We got there at 1130AM on a Sat and was surprised to see it wasn't that busy but then the lunch rush came through around 12. The tables don't have the best grip on the floor so it will be a little slip and sliding if you're not too careful. They do try to maximize the space so you might feel like you won't have too much room between your table and the person sitting behind you - get there early to score a booth. Overall - we really enjoyed it here. I think the food is way better than what Minado had and the sushi options were quite varied and plentiful. I'm not a sashimi fan but the mister said it wasn't bad, he did note he thinks it was pre frozen but for a buffet, it was doable. If sushi's not your jam, they have a plethora of hot and cold entrees as well. They have plenty of desserts and drinks (boba milk teas, coconut milk, etc) that are included in the buffet price! Nice added touch there! Service was attentive. Dirty plates were cleared quickly and drinks refilled properly. If you can't afford to include lobsters please don't. I felt like a beggar asking over and over for lobster and finally got a small piece it didn't even taste right. Staff kept saying 10 more minutes or 5 more minutes but no many an hour later came, just like a magic puff gone. I came with a friend for the lunch buffet! It was a summer Wednesday at 11:15am so it was pretty empty. The lunch price of $25 (came out to $31 after tax/tip) is super worth it. There is a large variety of cooked items and seafood to choose from. The sushi/sashimi was lacking in variety but I personally was very happy with just eating my money's worth of salmon sashimi. The sushi, sashimi, and mussels all tasted good and pretty fresh. There is also a cooler fridge of different drinks and I got a mango pomelo sago that was amazing! They also have desserts and ice cream. I haven't come for dinner yet so I don't know if the variety is significantly different, but the price is definitely steeper. Decided to check this place out one weekend with the family. It was pretty busy and I didnt expect to have a line outside. So, we joined the waitlist. We waited but not super long. We probably got in around like a little over 10 minutes of waiting. We followed the guy and was seated around the corner near the front. The location is good since we are close by where you choose and grab your food. The place was spacious and there were alot of tables to sit, including some couch-like tables which were comfortable to sit. Nice sakura trees design on the interior as well that gave the place a little pop of color while you are dining. The lights where the food are displayed was also pretty. The food selection was huge, from sushi to meats and seafoods including drinks are desserts. They also got fries and chicken for kids since some kids gets so picky like mines. The ice cream were pretty good too, they had those korean ones that my son loves and he got 3. I got some melona drink too whick was a treat. I've visited this buffet a few times since they first opened. There is a wide selection of different foods. You can find fresh sashimi, raw oysters and clams, crab legs, mussels on the half shell and shrimp. There's a wide selection of sushi rolls and nigiri on one side of the buffet and a large selection of other items such as dim-sum items, Chinese food, stir fried seafood, grilled meats. People used to go crazy over the ginger scallion lobster, so now they have someone behind the counter scooping it for each person, which seems fair. There's a huge selection of drinks in the corner including different teas, Milkis, different flavors of milktea. There's a variety of ice cream including sorbet, melona, Haagen-Dazs ice cream bars, along with cakes, yogurts, and other sweet treats. The restaurant itself is large with a lot of seating, however, I have waited over an hour for a table on a Sunday evening. There are a lot of staff members working all day, so your used dishes will be cleared quickly. They also do birthday shout outs if you ask them to! I personally think this is the best seafood buffet in the area and an absolute must-visit. Mainly 3 categories of food, hot/stir fry, sushi/sashimi/snowcrab, fruit/desert. It is not a buffet with most variety of items, but all is fresh. The sashimi was incredibly fresh, melt in your mouth. The sushi rolls were well balanced with right amount of rice and flavorful fillings. Beyond sashimi and sushi, the hot dishes were amazing too. The snowcrab legs and oysters were highlights. I was pretty surprised and happy with the drink selection, many buffets only have fountain drinks but you get half the Asian supermarket aisle of choices and it brings you back to when your mom says no to all the tasty drinks. I was honestly really sad when Minado closed down, but after trying Sora -- which took over the same location -- I'm so happy again. For only about $40 for all you can eat, the selection is incredible. They've got everything from oysters and clams to super fresh sushi and tons of premade dishes. It's more like a 3.5 rating. The price really isn't bad for an AYCE with seafood. The seafood quality was good. I wouldn't call it great though. There were about 5 different options for the raw bar and plenty of cooked options including a spicy crawfish dish and crab legs. The crab legs were a little overly salty. Pretty good short rib. They had duck too. I didn't have room for sushi unfortunately :( The dessert included macarons, melona, and lollipops! This section with the dessert was really my favorite part that stood out from any other buffet. The drink fridges were there too. I've never seen a buffet with basically the coolers from an Asian market inside of it and included in the AYCE! The 2 hr time limit is frustrating considering how long it takes to get through crab shells. You can put your name down and they text you when your table is ready. It gives you the option to download the app to check your spot in line. Don't download the app. It doesn't actually do anything. The service was slightly off putting. Not enough chairs at our table and I had to point it out. She very obviously questioned my daughter's age (she's tall). After attempting to go to Sora Sushi & Seafood Buffet for dinner twice, we were successful the third time, today for lunch/dinner. Sora is the new spot in town, replacing what was once Minado's... same set up, similar dishes served, and is AYCE, only changes made were the addition of new lights and light up signs everywhere. They're also owned by the Hungry Pot management group down the street. On Saturday, we tried going for dinner & the wait at 5pm was 2 hours and some change so we ended up going elsewhere. Sunday, we arrived around the same time & were told that the establishment was "closed" for the rest of the day because too many people lol... mind you, it was 5 hours before their closing hour. Today, we decided to go back and try at 3pm. There was no wait and we ended up doing dinner price because there's more seafood. Overall, it was meh. I didn't really have high expectations for it to be honest but I was hoping it would be better. The sashimi + sushi were okay. Most of their maki rolls have tempura for filling, so I tried a few but most was junk. Sashimi was all right, nothing to write hope about and mostly was flavorless. I highly suggest skipping the raw clams and oysters. I typically don't eat raw foods at AYCE unless I know it's super high quality but towards the end, I noticed many people grabbing them so of course, I got some to try. Immediately spit it out... all fishy and no good. Stuff to go for if you do try this place out: -crab legs -crawfish (seems to be frozen not fresh though) -ginger scallion lobster (they make it a little too sweet for my own liking) Yeah... not the biggest fan but I'm also not entirely surprised given that I was not the biggest fan of Hungry Pot either. Like everyone else, I was hoping that it could've been THE replacement for Minado's but it's really just mid. The oysters and clams were so bad, I seriously think that if I had eaten it, I'd likely have food poisoning. The boba was underwhelming and not worth it. Tasted powder based, only tried a sip of the mango milk tea & never touched it again. The fruit like, honeydew + cantaloupe, were fresh and tasted good + sweet though! When I heard a new all you can was opening in place of minado, I was super excited as minado was like a childhood place of mine. Coming on opening day at around 5:30, I got seated right away but it was already filling in. Some key differences that highlights Sora in comparison to minado are: drinks are free (includes a variety of fruit and milk teas that you can grab yourself), snow crab legs, cold mussels and clams, snails, and SASHIMI. Some cons are: they didn't have steak tartare which was a minado favorite of mine, the hot foods kind of lack/are bland, and the price point- with tip and tax it was basically $50 a person. The staff was very attentive and everything was new and clean inside. Parking is a plus since there is a huge parking lot. However, it really only is worth it if you eat raw sashimi, and even then you might as well go to a separate all you can eat sushi place for that for cheaper. Sora wasn't bad but it didn't blow my expectations, and I personally would only go back if someone else really wanted to go. read more

I was really excited about this place since I drive past often and it popped up on my socials. Boy was I extremely disappointed! This place made me know the truth that social media influencers get paid for reviews. I'll start with the good, great food allergen signage, service was good, place was clean, lots of options, great drink options and the food replenishment was fast. Now to the food, the sushi was made with low quality fish and ingredients it had a slightly fishy and antiseptic lingering finish. The rest of the seafood was meh at best. All other offerings were pretty bad. Bland meat and fish, sweaty rice and sides. Whatever your local Chinese food spot is, will be way better and inexpensive than this. This place is all about quantity over quality and at $50 a person, extremely over priced. read more

A lot of people are complaining in the reviews about the wait time but even with the wait in line you still can get in, eat way more than humanly possible and leave withing 40 minutes. A lot like the old minados there is a little more of a shift to chinese buffet from japanese and the salads moved from the right side to where the desert was. Pretty much every minutes they were banging a gong and singing happy birthday. I would say not really worth waiting in line at the beginning for the cooked items just go directly to the raw bar and or sushi which is the best value and use of your time. Ambience is wild with how many people and the constant rotation of people in and out but still some how eloquent and industrial. read more
