Few key notes: * There's a small free private parking lot and it is almost never 100% full even during busy hours. * While the bakery closes at 7 PM, come before lunch hours to get the full selection of baked goods and refrigerated sandwich options; otherwise, many of these items sell out before closing time. * Plenty of indoor tables, but no outdoor seating. * S-tier items: strawberry croissant, sticky bun, steamed pork bun. * A-tier items: half turkey avocado sandwich, pork katsu sandwich box, matcha cake * B-tier items: almond croissant, drip coffee. We got the: - Butter Croissant-3/5 it was a little dry and not amazing compared to other the croissants - 5/5 Strawberry custard croissant was fluffy and filled with a lot of custard. Never had a pastry like this one. Also very aesthetic pleasing to take pictures with haha - 4/5 Strawberry Banana croissant was a long pastry with nutella on it too. I actually tried visiting this location on time during a weeknight and they were completely sold out and closed early. Good for them, but bummer for me! I had similar issues at their Tustin location. If you want access to their entire selection make sure to come early. If I'm out and about in the morning nearby them I'll typically try to squeeze a stop by their store. Came on a Friday early afternoon, and they were already out of the chicken curry pan, but I gave them a call before stopping by (since I was in Torrance anyway) to ask if they had any curry bread left and the worker said they had a couple of beef ones left although she couldn't guarantee they'd still be in stock when I arrived. Luckily they were! I also got two pork buns (high recommend, they are soft and fluffy and juicy and delicious), an azuki cream (for the husband, he likes it but I think it's just fine but I'm not a massive red bean fan), and a boston cream (personally I prefer the one at Hamada-ya more as their's is more airy while this one's more heavy?). Most of the pastries are excellent and clearly made with high-quality ingredients--think arabiki sausages, matcha, and seasonal berries. Just be aware that some of the more gourmet items (like the matcha cookies) can run up to around $8. The coffee is also very good and can be customized to taste; in a very Japanese style, it leans slightly bitter rather than sweet. These baked goods are popular locally, and you'll even find some of them stocked at Nijiya. Service is about average. The staff seems focused on keeping the line moving, so there isn't much interaction, and when I asked a simple question like whether something was made in-house, the clerk didn't know. This place is my favorite bakery in this area, I like that they make the bread fresh daily and once they sell out, they normally don't make any more to prevent waste. But the taste is so good even though it is a little bit pricey for me, but I compared it to 85C it's around the same price range. My favorite is their melon bread and their custard bread. I've been to the Cream Pan in the OC & just visited this one today. This is definitely new, and has sooo much more space. It has a couple tables to sit at, but I can see them getting super busy. I got a 4 pack of the strawberry croissants for a friend, a Boston crème donut, and a condensed milk coffee. The croissants are definitely a must-try as they sell out quickly; fresh strawberries and custard inside a buttery croissant. The Boston crème donut was a surprisingly good pastry; a nice chocolate exterior with a soft, creamy interior. TRIED TO STEAL MY PURSE!!!!!‼‼ I came to today eat 4/19/26 around 11 and left at 11:30. I noticed a few hours later I had left my purse. I called 2 times and spoke to 2 different girls. First girl I spoke to was Sarah and she told me she looked around the cafe to check for my lost purse that I gave her the description for. I then called back a second time and this is when the problem started. I believe her name was Renow idk how to spell it but that's how it sounded Reno or Raeno The second girl claimed she was not able to check outside for me due to it being "too busy" she said to call back in 30 mins and then she can check outside... I said you can't just take 20 seconds to check? She said no... which I guess I understand but she was uncooperative and doing absolutely nothing to help the situation. When I asked if I could talk to the manager she said to call back in 30 mins. Then I asked for the exact time the a manger will be in and she said the manager won't be in today.. so then I said why would I call back in 30 mins.... I wanted to speak to anyone who could help me about possibly checking cameras and she claims she has no idea she acted clueless like she has no idea how to get ahold her manager or ANYONE I could talk so they can help me. I asked if there is an email or number and she said nothing. I know this girl is not dumb. She purposely didn't help me at all and I guess she was hoping I would not come in and forget about my purse. 15 mins after the call I came to the store and BOOM somehow my purse is in the front with someone else's food!? I said really nobody noticed a random purse at the front? I said WHY is it at the front with someone else's stuff WHO put it there and all staff looked at me like I'm dumb. Then the older Asian lady went to the back and was speaking Japanese she came to the front and then said supposedly a customer turned it to the front. So I said within the 15 mins of me calling about my purse and me driving there it just so happens someone MAGICALLY brought it to the front?? Even tho I lost the purse 2 or 3 hours ago?? She said yes someone just brought it to the front within 15 mins and then I said if the girl I called didn't see it how did a customer see my purse and bring it to the front. All staff just acted clueless and had nothing to say they were definitely embarrassed that we put them in check. They were too stunned to speak I don't know if the staff was trying to cover for someone trying to take my purse but the staff definitely was hoping I didn't come back for it. I then asked if I called 2 times about my purse and the then supposedly a customer brought it to the front why was it not placed in the lost and found why did they not call me back?? I'm so glad my aunt told me about this place - not really convenient to Santa Monica where we're staying or DTLA where I am often in town for work, but on the way to visit my aunt in PV :) I had been worried about parking or lines on a Saturday and hoped to pre-order but they weren't taking pre-orders. Worry was for nought as we pulled up at noon and parked easily. Went in and there was no line. And they weren't sold out of most of the items we wanted (short on sandwiches - no pork katsu or ham or turkey/avocado left), but that meant we got to try many other items! Items below listed in order of deliciousness: - chicken katsu sandwich - 5*/5 a star item for sure! so delicious with the soft Japanese white bread, generous pieces of chicken katsu, shredded cabbage, tomato, and some spread yumminess. - azuki cream - 5*/5 our favorite pastry and that's saying A LOT since their pastries were all so very good. Could have convinced me there was chocolate and not azuki at the bottom but the cream was super light, the pastry like a croissant and not like a typical cream puff dough - strawberry croissant - 5/5, they're known for these and they're deceptively light hence the recommendation to get more than one per person - almond croissant - 5/5 an excellent almond slice studded exterior and generous almond filling - sticky bun - 5/5, very solid sticky bun offering - cream pan - 4/5 namesake baked item, the custard inside is a very light one (I don't usually like custard because it's too heavy, theirs is just right) but the dough on this is not a flaky one and more bread like so to me not worth it for a pastry experience - curry bun - 4/5, beef curry filling inside a deep fried bun. very tasty and could have had more ratio of beef to dough - mixed sandwich - 4/5, solid offering of a mix of tuna salad, ham, egg salad sandwiches on the soft Japanese white bread or whole wheat bread. This bakery in my opinion has the softest bread I have ever had! They are known for their strawberry croissants which are very delicious but I think their katsu sandwiches are underrated! The bread is nice and fluffy with a hint of sweetness while the lettuce and katsu are crunchy/savory - the perfect balance! I went in with high expectations--the display and the size of the cakes and sandwiches looked so inviting. Unfortunately, the taste completely failed to deliver. Even my Japanese friends were shocked, maybe even a little embarrassed by how far off it was from what we expected. On the positive side, the service was excellent and the seating area was spacious and comfortable. My matcha latte was fine (I don't think you can go too wrong with that), but the cakes and sandwiches were just awful despite looking picture-perfect. Fast service. Love their strawberry custard croissants. Their chocolate cake is pretty good, steamed pork buns are filling but I feel like the bun is a little lacking in terms of too much water? Baguette was solid, nothing special. Clean spacious area with fast service. I always stop by for the strawberry croissants to bring to others since it's well loved by most people. I'd like to venture into their cakes since the chocolate one was very tasty. read more
