Got a loaf from mitsuwa on san gabriel over the weekend. $5.75 for the large white. It's so yummy. I don't think I can go back to commercial loaf or any other bakery's white loaf!! Gotta make time to visit the original café next time! They're a bit of a drive for me.

This was such a cool spot to check out. I saw in Japan they have coffee jelly and i wanted to try. I was kind of disappointed with this one though. It was sweet milk with large pieces of the coffee jelly and i felt the ratio was off. I spent more time chewing than i did drinking. I would have preferred a latte base and then some occasional jellies. I also had a ham and cheese bun that was so moist and flavorful-- delicious. I must come back to this mall to explore more neighboring businesses in the marketplace.

This is my first time and it won't be my last. We tried a few items. The blueberry cheesecake, Oreo cheesecake, strawberry cheesecake danish and cheesecake in a cup. The location was small but there was outside seating. The staff was polite and efficient. There was a short line and the breads seem to be very popular. Definitely adding this to my favorites list.

This is a great little bakery! I guess you could say they're "inside" of Mitsuwa, but they have their own entrance and hours (we came in the morning before Mitsuwa was open). The curry pan (or what they call curry "donut") was delicious, just be warned that it can be a little greasy - it is deep fried, after all. They also had a wide variety of sweet pastries as well as some delicious-looking sandwiches - but my stomach can only handle so much pastry in one visit!

TL;DR This bakery is so cozy and the pastries are delicious! It's very clean inside and it has beautiful/elegant decorations. The pastries are generally very good and fresh, I also love the drinks. I would definitely prefer over a place like 85C. The staff is very kind and patient, eager to help.

I've been back here during the mornings recently and this place has gotten much better. It's clear the breads and rolls are cooked in the back and there's some fun pastry creations like wagyu curry. It's very small, but there's lots of choices in the morning.

Within the Mitsuwa in Torrance, you'll find the Hamada ya Bakery. You can go in just for the bakery by what not make the most of the trip and buy some groceries while you're there, too!? It's inside one of my favorite Mitsuwas I've ever been to. I've had a couple of baked goods from their selections and loved them! The chocolate chip cookie is delish. And the chocolate chip croissant? Ummm, even better than the cookie. Trust! Great selection, great prices and everything I've had is tasty. Next time, I'm going to be Mission: Sando and try some of their sandwiches. Nomz.

Japan is one of my all time travel destinations. Aside from Hello Kitty (hehe); they have such amazing food there. I definitely plan to visit Japan again sometime in the future but for now if I want some amazing Japanese treats; then I have to look no further than Hamada ya Bakery. Hamada ya Bakery offers some delicious pastries, snacks and drinks. I love that they offer traditional Japanese sandos here! They their own freshly baked milk bread and fill it with pork cutlet and egg. It truly reminds me of Japan. From their pastries; I enjoy their cream corners and their cream puffs. They're not too sweet and quite light. It makes for a perfect dessert or snack. Thank you to Hamada ya for offering some awesome Japanese snack/sweets right here in Torrance!

Coconut Matcha Cloud - 5/5 was extremely refreshing and balanced so well with the matcha. It definitely was a waker upper. This review is regarding a visit on June 1 between approximately 12:10 PM and 12:30 PM…read more I am leaving this feedback as a regular customer who has purchased different matcha drinks from this business on multiple occasions. I have consistently enjoyed visiting this location, which is why I am sharing this experience in detail rather than simply not returning. On this visit, I ordered the House Matcha with almond milk and paid $7.75. The drink was significantly underfilled, which resulted from my request for no ice. While I understand that removing ice can affect volume, the amount of empty space at the top of the cup made it feel like I received less than a full drink despite paying the full price. In addition, I was charged for an almond milk substitution, which further contributed to the expectation of a properly filled drink. The cup size also raised concerns. I recently ordered a Banana Cream Matcha at the same price point and received a noticeably larger cup. On this visit, the House Matcha was served in a smaller cup, and even the sleeve did not fit correctly. The combination of a smaller cup and reduced fill level created an inconsistency in value that was immediately noticeable. The most significant issue was that the drink contained no sweetness at all. The House Matcha is described as "perfectly sweet matcha" and includes agave syrup, so it is reasonable to expect sweetness as part of the standard preparation. Instead, the drink was completely unsweetened. There was no communication during ordering that sweetness needed to be selected separately, and in prior visits I have never been asked about sweetness level. This is also not the first time I have received a matcha drink without sweetness despite it being described otherwise. By the time I realized, I had already left the store and was unable to return due to time commitments, and it does not feel reasonable that multiple preparation issues should require a return visit. It is also concerning that there is no clear pricing listed next to the different matcha options in the matcha section of the menu. The lack of visible prices makes it difficult to understand the cost of each drink at the point of ordering and reduces transparency for customers. From a broader perspective, consistency issues across cup size, fill level, and recipe execution affect the overall experience. I regularly purchase specialty drinks and would be comfortable paying $7.75 if the product consistently matched the menu description, portioning was accurate, and expectations were clearly communicated at the point of sale. As someone who visits this plaza several times per month, I would genuinely like to continue supporting this business and have consistently positive experiences. That depends on clearer communication, more consistent preparation standards, and attention to detail during both ordering and fulfillment. At home, I am able to prepare matcha easily using a variety of milks, including almond, oat, coconut, cashew, pistachio, banana, and pea protein, along with simple sweeteners such as agave, maple syrup, honey, and organic brown sugar. I also keep ingredients such as whipped cream, sea salt, strawberries on hand, blueberries, and mango, allowing me to make specialty drinks like strawberry matcha, blended matcha with frozen strawberries, or other customized variations. Because of that, the value of a café drink comes down to consistency, accuracy, and convenience rather than ingredients alone. If issues such as inconsistent cup sizes, underfilling, missing ingredients, or unclear customization options are occurring across orders, it may point to a need for improved staff training and clearer standardization. Addressing these areas would likely improve the experience for both regular and first-time customers. I hope this feedback is received as constructive input from a returning customer meant to improve overall customer satisfaction and repeat business.

What a cute tea shop with a modern, slightly Japandi-inspired decor that makes the space feel calm…read moreand inviting. Their drinks were a pleasant surprise. The Thai tea was nicely balanced and not overly sweet, and the Jasmine tea was fragrant, thick, and perfect at 50% sweetness. The matcha latte was the best drink here for me: earthy, not sweet at all, and with a subtle nuttiness that made it so satisfying. The only miss was the strawberry taro, which leaned too sweet for my taste. Overall, a beautifully designed shop with some truly great drinks.

That said, it's good enough for a place to go when you're on somewhat of a budget. The Dubai Chocolate Frappe was a semi-let down because the advertisement photo looked like it had a lot of chocolate. When I got my order, my first reaction was..."is that it?" The first several sips lacked the chocolate flavor I was anticipating but it was a fairly decent drink. It definitely would have been better with more chocolate as advertised. The Beef Teriyaki Bowl was a generous size; again, it was good enough. The TTEK-BOKKI (Korean Spicy Rice Cake) was extremely filling especially with cheese (which was a $3 up charge). Not sure I'd get this one again if I came back because the price point and the quality just didn't match. Parking is easy and free since it's in a complex with a now abandoned Rite-Aid. Even so, I'm not completely sure I'd come back since this place is small and the setup seems so cramped. It lacked the vibe I thought it would have based on social media posts. The staff could use a bit more energy and enthusiasm like other spots that offer similar items.

It came with A LOT of fruit bits (I'm pretty sure they were pears), which might be great if you enjoy that texture, but for me it made it hard to actually enjoy the drink. It was really lacking on the peach flavor but having to work around all the fruit took away from it.
