Ham Roll

This was such a cool spot to check out. I saw in Japan they have coffee jelly and i wanted to try. I was kind of disappointed with this one though. It was sweet milk with large pieces of the coffee jelly and i felt the ratio was off. I spent more time chewing than i did drinking. I would have preferred a latte base and then some occasional jellies. I also had a ham and cheese bun that was so moist and flavorful-- delicious. I must come back to this mall to explore more neighboring businesses in the marketplace.

Boloniya Bread (small, $9.95) -- super soft, rich, and lightly sweet.

Did takeout from Hamadaya Bakery, which is attached to Mitsuwa Market, and loved it. It's a quaint, small bakery, but there are so many options - everything from katsu sandos to a great selection of Japanese sweets. We picked up the Boloniya Bread (small, $9.95) and it was amazing - super soft, rich, and lightly sweet, the kind of bread you can enjoy completely on its own. We also ordered two drinks: one matcha with matcha jelly, and the other almond milk with matcha jelly. The matcha itself was high quality and good tasting, with a really nice ice-to-matcha ratio, and the jelly had a soft, silky texture that wasn't overly sweet. Everything worked really well together. Being connected to Mitsuwa Market is a big plus. There's a great food court with plenty of indoor seating and a large outdoor patio, making it an easy place to grab food, meet up with friends, and hang out for a bit. The food court also offers a variety of options at reasonable prices, which adds to the overall appeal of stopping here. Even as a quick takeout stop, this place really stands out. A great spot when you're craving quality Japanese baked goods and drinks.

Cake and cheesecake

This is my first time and it won't be my last. We tried a few items. The blueberry cheesecake, Oreo cheesecake, strawberry cheesecake danish and cheesecake in a cup. The location was small but there was outside seating. The staff was polite and efficient. There was a short line and the breads seem to be very popular. Definitely adding this to my favorites list.

This is a great little bakery! I guess you could say they're "inside" of Mitsuwa, but they have their own entrance and hours (we came in the morning before Mitsuwa was open). The curry pan (or what they call curry "donut") was delicious, just be warned that it can be a little greasy - it is deep fried, after all. They also had a wide variety of sweet pastries as well as some delicious-looking sandwiches - but my stomach can only handle so much pastry in one visit!

TL;DR This bakery is so cozy and the pastries are delicious! It's very clean inside and it has beautiful/elegant decorations. The pastries are generally very good and fresh, I also love the drinks. I would definitely prefer over a place like 85C. The staff is very kind and patient, eager to help.

I've been back here during the mornings recently and this place has gotten much better. It's clear the breads and rolls are cooked in the back and there's some fun pastry creations like wagyu curry. It's very small, but there's lots of choices in the morning.

Within the Mitsuwa in Torrance, you'll find the Hamada ya Bakery. You can go in just for the bakery by what not make the most of the trip and buy some groceries while you're there, too!? It's inside one of my favorite Mitsuwas I've ever been to. I've had a couple of baked goods from their selections and loved them! The chocolate chip cookie is delish. And the chocolate chip croissant? Ummm, even better than the cookie. Trust! Great selection, great prices and everything I've had is tasty. Next time, I'm going to be Mission: Sando and try some of their sandwiches. Nomz.

Japan is one of my all time travel destinations. Aside from Hello Kitty (hehe); they have such amazing food there. I definitely plan to visit Japan again sometime in the future but for now if I want some amazing Japanese treats; then I have to look no further than Hamada ya Bakery. Hamada ya Bakery offers some delicious pastries, snacks and drinks. I love that they offer traditional Japanese sandos here! They their own freshly baked milk bread and fill it with pork cutlet and egg. It truly reminds me of Japan. From their pastries; I enjoy their cream corners and their cream puffs. They're not too sweet and quite light. It makes for a perfect dessert or snack. Thank you to Hamada ya for offering some awesome Japanese snack/sweets right here in Torrance!

My personal must each time I go to Mitsuwa and they have one of these. I'm a big fan of the coffee jelly milk. It's a simple sweet dessert like drink and great for a pick me up. The bakery had a good amount of baked goods, sweets, and cakes still available in the middle of Sunday. They also had some seasonal pumpkin spice items too. A small line was forming after I got my coffee jelly milk, but the workers are pretty efficient and the line seemed like it moved quickly. Solid Japanese bakery with lots of drink options too.

Their chai latte is absolutely generational, and you really can't go wrong with any of the croissants. The ham and cheese is my favorite, but they're all incredible. I also highly recommend the chouquettes if you're looking for a little sweet treat, and the tiramisu is amazing too. One tip: try to get there before 1 p.m. Like most bakeries, the pastries and breads are at their absolute best earlier in the day. If you're planning on picking up a baguette or dinner rolls to take home, definitely arrive early because they can sell out. Overall, Sweet Wheat is an absolute generational South Bay find. I had more than enough points to redeem a free pastry reward, and since I was just at nearby Del…read moreAmo Fashion Center, I figured why not use one of my free pastry rewards at this Paris Baguette? So first things first, be aware that this Paris Baguette is actually inside Hannam Chain Supermarket at Village Del Amo on the southwest corner of Torrance and Hawthorne. I didn't know it at the time, so I circumnavigated the plaza, looking for Paris Baguette signage like I usually do for the other standalone locations. After stopping my car somewhere in the plaza, I had to double-check the location to be inside the Hannam Chain Supermarket, which I had just literally passed by minutes ago. D'oh! lol I hadn't even heard of Hannam Chain Supermarket, so I took some time to explore the store even though Paris Baguette is literally closest to the entrance. The overall selection of baked goods kind of disappointed me because it felt like there were fewer choices of pastries here compared to the other locations I've been to before. However, oddly enough, they had more selections available! I think it's because they have time stamps listed on each pastry so that the pastries are inside the display case for no more than 4 hours. I thought the pastries would have remained good at least until the end of the day, so to hear of their 4 hour shelf life was a bit surprising to me. For the record, I've been to several other Paris Baguettes before, but this was the first time I noticed these time stamps. Even though the variety of pastries was not as much compared to the other standalone locations, I still had a difficult time deciding which pastry to get! However, I noticed a new flavor of a supreme croissant I hadn't seen before: pink velvet. I've heard of red velvet, but not pink, and presuming that this is a seasonal offering for Valentine's Day, I figured it would be the perfect opportunity to try one before that special day. They had other supreme croissant flavors like chocolate and salted caramel pretzel, but I'm sure those flavors will be offered for much longer than the pink velvet. I do remember trying a strawberry supreme croissant from the Cerritos location, so perhaps after Valentine's Day, that would take the place of the pink velvet. After grabbing one of two Pink Velvet Supreme Croissants left in the display case, I made my way around and to the register. Phone in hand, I had the Paris Baguette app pulled up to redeem my reward. Actually, a good part of me had thought that this location inside Hannam Chain wouldn't honor my reward because for Tous Les Jours, the locations inside Hmart wouldn't be eligible for earning points or redeeming rewards. Luckily, Paris Baguette is not Tous Les Jours, and I was able to redeem my reward with no trouble. The cashier who rang me up was pretty friendly as well. She placed my Pink Velvet Supreme Croissant in a small paper bag and wished me a good day. While there are a handful of tables inside the food hall portion of Hannam Chain, most were occupied by customers of other eateries, so I simply went outside to enjoy my free sweet treat. The pink velvet ruby chocolate that covered the top portion of the round croissant didn't have nearly as much flavor, though the Valentine's sprinkles on top did make for a nice touch at least. Also, the custard cream inside didn't taste like anything at all! It wasn't bad, but it makes me wonder how much more flavorful the salted caramel pretzel would have been. I'll be sure to get that on my next visit to a Paris Baguette! I got the croissant about 2.5 hours after they were prepared, so maybe they would have tasted better had I gone 2 hours earlier? Lastly, I'm kind of shocked that this is pretty much the only Paris Baguette location in the South Bay. With how expansive a city like Torrance is, you would think they'd have at least a second location elsewhere like in Hmart. Otherwise, the next closest location would be in Long Beach, which literally just opened at The Pike Outlets. Overall, it's not a bad Paris Baguette to go to, but if you live in the South Bay, you'd be better off downloading the 85C Bakery app over the Paris Baguette app as there are much more 85C locations in the area. Also, this Paris Baguette may not necessarily carry your favorite pastries here, so heed caution if you plan to go out of your way to visit this patisserie.

I've always wanted to try their Orange County location but just never got around to it, so I was excited to finally give them a try. I walked in expecting it to be self-serve like 85 Degrees Bakery, but it's actually set up more like a donut shop or Porto's, where most of the pastries are displayed in a case and you tell the staff what you'd like. They do have a refrigerated self-serve section with sandwiches and onigiri, as well as a table with loaves of bread and buns. The ordering process caught me off guard because I usually like taking my time looking through all the pastries at bakeries. Since everything was behind the counter, I felt a little rushed with people waiting behind me. They have so many options that it can be a bit overwhelming. I also had to stop myself from ordering too much since I'm trying to cut back on carbs. Here's what I ordered: Hot Dog Bun - 4/5: Tasty with a soft, fluffy bun. I just wish it had a little more of that cheesy crust on top. Ham and Cheese Croissant - 3/5: My boyfriend ordered this and thought it was just okay. It was a little small for the price. Strawberry Cream Croissant - 5/5: They're known for this, and now I understand why. The pastry was light and flaky, the strawberries were sweet, and the custard was rich without being overly sweet. Spam Roll Onigiri - 4/5: I loved the egg, and it was really flavorful. It was served a bit cold, though. I think it would taste even better if it were kept under a heat lamp. Raisin Bun - 5/5: So soft and fluffy, with just the right amount of raisins. It was also a great value--six buns for only $4.20. Hot Vanilla Latte - 4/5: Strong with just a light sweetness. It was really good, but I think it could have been a little creamier. The prices were reasonable. I spent about $26 for everything, which I thought was a great deal. Customer service was excellent. Even though there was a line behind me, the staff never made me feel rushed while I decided what I wanted. The barista was especially friendly and even checked in afterward to ask if I liked my latte. If I'm ever back in the area, I would definitely come again.
