This is a delicious donut! I stopped by Faddy's Donuts because I've heard from a few people that these are THE BEST! And they aren't wrong. These come from a food truck, in this case a Donut Truck, it is parked in front of Cabela's in East Hartford. They had a variety of very generous donuts lined up. The Boston Creme donut, was so pouffy and enlarged, from the very generous amount of the custard filling. There was a bacon donut, an apple cider donut, among others. I wish I could remember the exact name of the one I got, it might have been called Maple Pecan Chocolate. The food truck also sells popcorn and apple cider. My donut was $4. Since this is a food truck, and it was raining, I had no option but to take it to my car. This donut was jam packed with pecans, chocolate and maple frosting. It was so sticky, and messy but absolutely delicious! The donut it's self was super soft and fresh! These donuts need to be known about. I can't even imagine how tasty the other options are. I ordered Birria Tacos and one of the staff members asked me if I wanted anything to drink and he asked me did I want to try a juice they made. The juice was called Passion Fruit Juice and as I sampled the juice, it was so refreshing so I ordered a cup. The Birria Tacos were delicious, flavorful, crispy, and the cheese melt was just the right amount of cheese. A lot of places cannot make Birria Tacos but these Birria Tacos were right on the money. One thing I love about them is their presentation. The Passion Fruit Juice came with a strawberry that looked like a rose. The presentation for everything was very pleasing and I definitely will come back here and try more items on their menu. Drinks - Great selection, would love to come back and try one for sure. Girlfriend was very interested in the tacos, so we opt for a trio of their spicy tacos. Service was quick and we found a seat to dig in. Overall, the chicken was tasty but the rest was okay. The sauce was kind of like franks red hot but a bit tangier but a little milder. It's a solid sauce, but I usually prefer a little more heat. The taco shells were generic, out of a bag tortillas. Nothing special of note there, just plain flour tortillas. they didn't bulk out the tacos with lots of extra slaw, but the chicken portion was very small for the size of tortilla they used. In the future, they should look at street taco tortillas. they're a bit smaller, but would make the chicken look like a significantly larger portion. Then if they use a seasoned crispy batter then dunk the tenders in the sauce then it would be a very awesome bite. for what we got, it was good but not great. They need to make little tweaks to get them to great, but it's easy enough to do. I hope to see some quality improvements going forward, but for now they are a solid choice if you're in the mood for unhealthy chicken.

They're Back and better than ever…read more One of my favorite food trucks in Hartford is back at Bushnell Park. The lines are long but the Thai food is still so good and a relative bargain for the quality. I am a big fan of the spicy Chicken chock full of chicken and vegetables! As I like spicy food I went for the basil fried rice. There are three stars on its side and that means it is the spiciest thing their menu. I eat real spicy food. To my surprise the fried rice was really spicy with a ton of flavors. The basil leaves on the rice explodes in mouth with flavors. It was spicy hot as well as temperature hot. I was sweating when I was eating it. She offered to make it more spicy if I want. I took the right decision to not go for it.

We were the only customers there! I had seen on-line that three food trucks would be present, but there were just two -The Gulla Grille (Brazilian) and Taste of Home (Puerto Rican). Aunties Pasta (Italian) wasn't there. The designers of Westside really need to get a lot of credit for the beautiful job they did in salvaging this forlorn corner of Hartford. The dozens of wood tables and benches were made from old recycled industrial spools, and they are really amazing. There are corn hole boards, beer pong table, Giant Jenga, Connect Four, a movie screen, a music stage, and a bar spread throughout the property so there's a ton of things to do there. I had a kebab plate from Gulla and my wife had a cheeseburger from Taste of Home. She was given one of those buzzing gizmos to tell her when her food was ready. I knew my lunch was ready when the guy flagged me down like he was hailing a cab. I love the concept of food truck courts and I suspect Westside is quite a bit busier in the evenings that it was lunch time on a holiday weekend Saturday, when we had the place to ourselves..

Normally I review based on ambience, service, and food. Obviously you're not going to have much ambience at a food truck, so we'll bypass that one. Though, honestly, in the shadow of the Wadsworth Atheneum is as good a place as any to grab lunch. If you go Wed-Fri, you can eat on the Atheneum steps, and then visit the museum. Dogger's open on Mon and Tues, too, but just sayin'. The service is top-notch. Mr. and Mrs. Dogger are good people. They enjoy what they do, and it shows. The food is prepared to order, it's quick, and even a first-timer is made to feel like an old friend. The food (which is why you're here, after all), is excellent. I've never had a bad meal here. Pulled pork, buffalo chicken (with extra buffalo), meatball or meatloaf grinder, and, of course, dogs; they're all great. The sandwiches are tasty, they're fresh, and I love the bread. There's a certain establishment kitty "corner" to the Dogger, a "stone's" throw away, shall we say, that shall go nameless, which no matter how much I want to like it, I just can't get past the crappy bread. That's why I mention the bread at the Dogger: it's really good. I suppose my one grouse is they don't carry coleslaw for the pulled pork, but that's not for a lack of trying. For some reason, you philistines who inhabit the Connecticut River Valley don't top your pulled pork with coleslaw (really people?) so Mrs. Dogger got tired of throwing it away. Apparently I was the only one who kept asking for it. It was good coleslaw, people! Ah, well, there's always got to be one little niggle; nothing's perfect. Do yourself a favor, get over your thing about trucks and head to the Dogger. The husband and wife duo is amazing they are very friendly and conversational I did not feel rushed like they were there to just take my money. The steak and cheese that i choose to eat was wonderful topped with onions peppers and cheddar cheese. For $6 this is a steal it included a bottle of water (my choice) and a bag of chips. I will be back... also if you call ahead they will make your food so it is ready when you get there. A must have.
