We were recommended to hire Rama to design our front yard and back yard. We decided to put pavers down on the backyard to replace real grass. It is a small space. We also decided to extend our front porch into a hardscape with pavers. The front yard was an ugly fake grass that is just green plastic turf grass and boring. Rama turned it and designed it into a desert landscaping with rocks and native plants. I have requested that the plants will be the ones loved by hummingbirds. Baja Bush, Red Yucca, and Seaside Daisy were planted. I also love succulents so Fire on Sticks and Dudlyea were also planted on our front yard. She is knowledgeable about native plants and succulents, easy to work with, and artistic. She also recommended landscape companies to clear our overgrown bush and to trim our tree and a landscape company to install pavers and to implement her design. The companies did really well in installing pavers, installing decomposed granite, and installing irrigation system and lights. read more

My husband and I had struggled for 2 years with ideas of what to do with our backyard -- a large, sloping expanse of withered grass. We had a jumble of ideas, but we were really at a loss as to how to proceed until we found Rama, the owner of Creations Landscape Designs. Rama is extremely knowledgeable of plants and has an artistic eye for color and texture, and so her design incorporated a beautiful variety of colors for each season and thoughtful placement of taller bushes and trees to provide privacy, shade, and interesting textures. I contracted with Rama of Creations Landscape Designs to do a design for our back yard. We planned to remove the grass and all the existing plantings. Our goal was to create a new look with all California Native plants and to reduce water usage considering the draught conditions. Rama was professional and provided what we believe was an excellent design that included pathways, where none were before. She met us at a Native Nursery, Tree of Life, and went through different plant choices with us. First off, everything Rama claims to be is what we wanted until I tried making contact. I left her a phone message stating my interest..... No call back. About two weeks later I called her and left another message. She called back after about an hour and never introduced herself. It sounded like kids playing in the background so it was hard to hear her as well. I proceeded to set up an appointment to have her come to my place and design my front yard. The appt was set up for about a week at 10am. On that day at 1030am I called her. I told her that I was waiting for her. She asked me what time the appt was. I told her 1030am. She said to me "I'm going to have to cancel that appt". I replied "you think". She asked me if she could call me back and reschedule. I hesitated but agreed. Not surprisingly, I never got a call back. I sent her a text to express how let down I was and she replied "sorry I booked your appt on the wrong day". After we decided to remove our grass (front, side and back yards), we decided to visit the Santa Margarita Water District web site to see if it had suggestions on how to convert a yard to a more sustainable landscape. After we discussed a few things about some of the web site suggestions, we decided to attend a Designer in Residence program at the Tree of Life Nursery. After the 30 minute session was over, we took some of the business cards on display at the Nursery and began calling three of the landscape designers, one of them being Rama Nayeri, owner of Creations Landscape Designs. After seeing what design approach each of the three designers offered, we felt Rama had the best design approach, cost and planned personal involvement in the project. This is how we hired Rama for the landscape design work. For the next three months, Rama was outstanding with respect to all phases of design and landscaping of the yards. Every appointment Rama made with us she kept and she showed up on time. If she was going to be a little late to a meeting, she called or texted to let us know. She quickly proved to be very reliable. On top of this, Rama was personable and took a liking to our family pets. In our initial meeting, Rama asked us what we were looking for in plant types and our own landscaping ideas. She took us to Tree of Life Nursery a few times to make suggestions and showed us what some of the plants looked like that she thought we would like. This proved to be very helpful in our plant selection. Her preliminary design was nearly perfect as-is. The final design was slightly different, but was also improved over the preliminary design. She laid out the final design so that a professional landscaper could easily read and translate it. Rama also brought us hardscape samples she purchased from building supply stores to be used for walkways we wanted. She also made suggestions about each of the samples. Throughout the actual landscaping, Rama worked well with the landscaper and purchased the plants from Tree of Life Nursery, as well as personally delivered them to our residence. She placed each plant in their precise location to match the design layout she created, and oversaw the planting by the landscaper. Our positive experience with our new landscape could only have happened because of Rama's professionalism, creativity and personable nature.
