We were so frustrated! We figured out that our county's website has a record of all of the permitted work done in the county in the last 3.5 months, and you can sort by project. It also lists the sq footage of the project and the cost. We could see that Kefficient had done the most permitted projects in our county and they had a fair and competitive price compared to other companies who got their work permitted. We ended up deciding to work with Kefficient. What a world of difference! They quickly got a permit and did the work and had it inspected and it looks great. What a relief after such a poor experience with a different company!

The urgency of the work that needed to be done was honored, and end result was even better than my first one!! This was a far more difficult project, and unfortunately, I couldn't be on site during the project. The daily updates with photos and exactly what was worked on (the before and afters) I got was beyond expectations, 1000% to the crew. The light near the dehumidifier is game-changing and they even gave me a moisture monitoring device. When I learned how cool it was, I asked if I can have one for my 1st house, and they offered it to come brin git by(free). Bonus when the technician came to install, he noticed some dropping insulation and just fixed it. This is why I love this company and will always call them for my needs and highly recommend them to anyone.

We had a $27k contract for JES to stabilize the foundation of our garage in Charlottesville and to…read moreaddress water that would seep into the basement during heavy rain events. The main work was done very well and professionally. The contract, however, also called for drilling a long hole into the end of a wall through multiple cinderblocks to drain the water intrusion that was getting specifically into the basement's stairwell wall. There was no other access point to the bottom cinderblocks of the stairway wall. It was a clever solution written into the contract, and the provision specifically stated that JES would bring a 36-48-inch masonry drill bit in order to drill a hole long enough to accomplish the goal. After the team completed the main work, we pointed out the need to finish the job by drilling this hole, but they did not have such a long bit with them. We then reached out many, many times over many months to get this hole drilled. Most often we were met with silence, but when we ultimately have gotten a response, the person would say, "Sorry, we will get that done." Twice, JES workers have actually shown up -- but without a long drill bit. They would then look at the situation and understand why the long drill bit was needed, say they would arrange for it to happen, and then radio silence. After we posted a longer version of the story as a review, apparently higher-up JES management people got involved and pretty quickly sent someone out with the right drill and bit to finish the contracted work. Presumably, some HR training has happened also and given that the job is now complete with the vast majority of it having been done well and in a timely manner -- I've now upwardly revised my rating.

BUYER BEWARE!! Misleading Sales Recommendations, Poor Communication, and No Follow-Up…read moreOn April 29, 2026, a JES representative named Zeke conducted our annual inspection of the encapsulation system that JES originally installed. During the inspection, he stated that our dehumidifier was "showing signs of failure" and strongly recommended replacing it. He initially quoted $4,125 for the replacement but quickly reduced the price to $3,500. When we asked what diagnostic data supported his recommendation and whether the unit could be repaired instead, we received no satisfactory answers. I contacted the dehumidifier manufacturer directly and learned that JES technicians should contact the manufacturer's technical support to diagnose error codes and troubleshoot the equipment. According to the manufacturer, no one from JES had contacted them regarding our unit. To verify the recommendation, we hired two independent crawlspace environmental companies to inspect the system. Both companies confirmed that the dehumidifier was operating properly and did not need replacement. Based on these independent inspections, we believe the recommended replacement was unnecessary and would have cost us $3,500 for equipment that did not need to be replaced. Concerned by these findings, I requested that a manager inspect the crawlspace and address our concerns. On May 15, 2026, JES manager JB Samuel visited our home and confirmed that the dehumidifier was working properly, validating that the original replacement recommendation was unnecessary. While he corrected one critical drain concern and added a bolt to the crawlspace door, he also identified additional concerns that had not been noted during the original inspection. It has now been 8 weeks since our original inspection and 6 weeks since the manager's visit, yet we have received NO FOLLOW UP regarding those issues. On June 11, 2026, I sent a certified letter to Dree Gooding, General Manager of the Ashland, VA location, detailing our concerns and requesting a written plan of action. JES has not responded to the letter or provided any resolution. Our experience has been extremely disappointing. We were given a costly replacement recommendation that multiple independent inspections determined was unnecessary. Even after a manager confirmed our dehumidifier was functioning properly, JES failed to communicate, follow through on the remaining issues, or respond to our certified correspondence. BUYER BEWARE!! Before approving expensive repairs or equipment replacements, make sure you get a independent second opinion. Based on our experience, JES did not stand behind its recommendations or provide the level of customer service and follow-up we expected.

And just like the last time they came over, they provided an analysis and a thorough explanation about what the current state is, what I can do to keep things tight, and what I can expect if problems arise. Stable Foundations is one of those rare businesses that provides this service for free, and they do not try to sell services that are not needed. So even though I didn't need them, Zach assured me that they will continue to offer this service and talk to me as needed. I am confident that if I did have foundation problems, they would provide great results for a reasonable price, so I would highly recommend them for anyone who is concerned about their foundation.

Without hesitation, he inspected the crawlspace that morning and provided a thoughtful evaluation of what needed to be done. Kavie provided a fair proposal to address the problem. But, as a testament to his honesty, he also disclosed that the problem may not need to be addressed at all if sufficient time has passed to indicate that the settling is complete. No pressure or sales tactics: just good, honest advice -- for which Kavie did not charge me a cent. I'm grateful that my inspector referred me to Stable Foundations as an honest and effective firm. Kavie is the first and last person I'll call when it comes time for a foundation repair. I highly recommend.

But I wanted to address it, so I did some reading of reviews and made an appointment. When I got the estimate I almost choked at the price, and knew right away that I needed to get at least two other estimates. It occurred to me that realtors probably run into this issue with clients, and would likely have some experience with companies, so I called two friends who are realtors in totally different areas of the city. Both immediately recommended Bone-Dry, so I didn't seek out a second estimate. Bryan's estimate was about a third of my original estimate, and didn't involve the use of sump pumps, which I've heard nightmares about from others. The original estimate included the use of two of them. I couldn't be happier with the results. The work was done in August, and I've not seen so much as a drop of water since. And I've never seen such a hard working crew as those that did my job. They were here for two days, and they never stopped working at all except for about a 30-minute lunch break. I can't say enough about Bryan and his team, and HIGHLY recommend Bone Dry. Leslie F.

They also gave me great advice on preventative maintenance I can do myself to keep things in top shape. Yes, it was an investment--but 100% worth it. The quality of their work has increased the equity in my home and will save me money in the future. I've gone with cheap contractors before and ended up paying more in the long run due to poor work. This was the opposite experience. Huge shoutout to Ben, RJ, and Jon--if I need more work done on my home, I'll be asking for them by name. Highly recommend The Drying Company!
