I cannot sing Thelma's praises enough. From the time I made my appointment to the time I got out of her chair, she was so kind, informative, and patient. She knew this was my first time getting a perm, and made sure I knew the difference between what permed hair and naturally curly hair looks like. Hair pre-perm: I think medium length, it was past my shoulder, and very straight texture. I came in for a beach wave perm, and Vicky recommended going a bit curlier so the perm would last longer since it would fall in two weeks and fall again (become more straight with time). Well okay, I do like getting my money's worth. It took about 3 hours, and came out to be $160 not including tip. I am not sure if haircut is usually included with perms at other salons but I didn't get a trim or haircut here. After the hair rollers were removed and the perm solution was rinsed off, it was very shocking seeing myself and not be reminded of my aunt or the auntie contestant from Squid Game. Due to the perm solution, it just looked weighed down and the hair on my scalp seemed flatter than usual. I felt so much better about my hair after I finally shampooed (I waited 2 days) and cut it shorter. I have been using Maui Moisture Bamboo Fibers shampoo and conditioner (even pre-perm) and added hyaluronic acid serum into my post-shower hair routine so my hair retains water, looks curly instead of flat or frizzy, and it adds some shine to it. Haven't highlighted my hair in over a year so my grays are more prominent and I've been debating on coloring my hair or getting a perm. Decided on the perm and I absolutely LOVE IT! Vicky is such a nice and friendly person to talk to and the process seemed quick and easy. She washed my hair, put int the rollers, then the perming liquid. Left it on my hair for some minutes, checked on the perm, rinsed me out with the rollers on, put conditioner and under the dryer for a little bit. Then placed a net and turban around my head and sent me home for about 4 hours. I came back and she took out all the rollers and rinsed my hair. Towel dried it, put some products on, blow dried it with the diffuser and voila! I am officially a curly haired woman! THANK YOU VICKY! read more

Even though the process was long it flew by because I was lost in conversation. Vikki is the best. I got my first hair perm here. I had no clue what I wanted. I just wanted curls. She got me the best waves I have seen. They are so beachy. I have got tons of compliments on my hair. I called her again though to get tighter curls and she offered to do it free of charge. After a not so good perm that I had done somewhere else months ago, I did some more research and found this salon. I've never heard of Air Perm before until I ran across another salon which is only 2 doors down from this one but they weren't taking any new clients so they highly recommended Vicky. I'm so glad I found her and I didn't mind driving almost 40 miles to get the hair that I want. I love that it's an intimate setting so it's one on one, undivided attention with her clients. It's really cozy and her cute setup has everything she needs plus her adorable doggies! I like that she makes sure that she uses the right products especially for the type of hair that I have to make sure that we achieve the curls that I wanted and it came out fantastic! She even gave me tips and product suggestions to use. We had some pleasant conversations for both days that I came in. I chose to do the 2-day air perm so I slept with the rollers in my hair which was comfortable to me and slept with no issues. I wanted to experience the traditional way instead of sitting under the oxidation machine. I absolutely love my hair! She even added some blended layers and styled my hair. The price is just right and definitely worth it with the results that you get. If you're looking for someone that specializes in perms, I highly recommend her. Vicky is a life saver.. I thought I would not be able to get an air perm for a while since Cosette from Permanently Yours, where I usually received my perms, was booked for a couple of months and was working alone. And, my hair already grew out 8 inches since the last time I did an air perm! I was in a major need of a perm. No one else can do an air perm, and luckily Vicky squeezed me in on a day that she was supposed to take off. Mind you, my appointment was at 3PM on a Tuesday.. which resulted in dead stop traffic when I left to her salon. I was three hours late, even when I left 30 minutes early from where I was coming from. Her mom was also in the hospital and she was supposed to visit her from 5:45 to 7:30 (the visiting hours). But, even when I arrived late, she was able to speed through the process of rolling my hair and still be sweet! She's professional through costumer service and salon services. I cannot wait to come back when my hair grows out and cannot wait to spread the word to my friends regarding another salon where they specialize in air perms.
