My hair has been stick straight my entire life and only holds a curl for 15 minutes. Wanting to do something a little different with my hair, I researched perms and came across this place. I made an appointment with Vicky and told her I wanted waves, not curls, and showed her some Pinterest images. She completely understood my vision. The perming process itself is an all day affair, so make sure you clear out your schedule! I went in at 10:00 am and it took 2 hours to condition and treat my hair, then I had to wear rollers until 5:00 pm where it took another hour to take them out, wash my hair and style it. I LOVE the result. For the first time in my life my hair has a bit of volume to it. The best part is that I curled my hair and it held the curls for two days! More like Permanently Horrible My girlfriend went here based on all the 5 star reviews to get her hair curled. She had showed Thelma several photos where just the ends of her hair are curled. During the session while the curls were being removed, she was horrified to see that her entire hair was curled and the curls were way overdone. Thelma also knew she had made a huge error and tried for an extra hour to straighten my girlfriend's hair, but wasn't able to. For almost $200 I would expect a stylist to be more knowledgeable and careful, this experience makes me wonder if the stylists are licensed. My girlfriend has a similar hairstyle to others who posted reviews, yet her experience was completely opposite. We wish she had gone somewhere else, simply not worth the risk. read more

Cosette is AMAZING. I have long hair, down to my mid-lower back. I like my layers a certain way so that I have more volume in my hair. Cosette is seriously the only person I trust with my hair. One visit and I will never perm my hair anywhere else ever again! I've had 3 perms in my life and this was by far the best experience and I couldn't be happier with the results. I actually had an appointment scheduled at a salon in San Francisco but when they canceled on the day of my appointment. I was so upset at first but honestly, it was a blessing because I found Permanently Yours! They were able to schedule me for the very next day and the woman who did my perm, Thelma, is so sweet and friendly - we spent the whole 4 hours chatting with ease. She is also very skilled and knowledgeable! This salon (and Thelma!!!) makes sure to prioritize the health of your hair as well as giving you the most beautiful curls possible. Something about the way she did it even significantly reduced the strong smell that usually lingers around for days afterward. I walked out of the salon earlier today and my hair doesn't smell like chemicals at all. She even took the time to style my hair, show me how to blow dry it, and what products to use/how often in order to take care of my curls. I can't believe it took me so long to find this gem of a salon! The only thing that could be a potential turn off to new clients is that dogs are frequently in the salon, so if you have allergies or are afraid of them it might not be the place for you! Shontalee is new, just starting out and building up here clientele. She did and excellent job on my perm and styling, I couldn't have asked for more. She is polite, eager, and competent. I highly recommend her, and I will continue to be her #1 fan for as long as she will have me... Came here to get an "air perm" from the owner Cosette. She asked me and made sure I got exactly what I wanted. Big loose and wavy curls is what I asked for and this is what I got. Had to leave the curlers in for a night and came in early the next day to get them taken out. Love, love, loved the results and got my many compliments afterwards. Since she was the owner, she didn't take any tips. They also keep a file on record of what you got done so that the next time you come in if you don't remember what size curls you had, they have it on file so you can get the same exact thing. I really wanted drastic change so I talked briefly to Shontalee on the phone before my appointment. I described the hairstyle I wanted. I couldn't find one pic of the beachy wave perm I desired that also had an inverted bob so I brought her a few pics of what I wanted and didn't want. Shontalee is super nice and a really talented hairstylist!! She really listened to what I wanted! I got a fantastic perm and an equally awesome haircut! I couldn't be happier! She took the time at the end of my appointment to show me what product to use to get the curl I desired. It wasn't an upsale; the product was really reasonably priced and carried at Rite Aid (not the salon). She showed me how to dry my hair. Additionally, she showed me how to add a few big curls with a curling wand for drama but so far I love my hair without having to do very much! Couldn't have picked a better spot to get my first perm! I called ahead and booked an appt with Shontalee (who has 20% off deals on Tuesdays). My hair is very thin and straight as can be fine, asian hair. So She recommended that I get an air perm. (It is healthier for the hair than normal perms but it is a 2 day process so don't make any plans in between those 2 appt times! You will have your head full of curlers and I definitely got some strange looks driving home, lol.) Shontalee was very patient and asked me exactly how I would want it to look. And after going through some photos of what I would like (tight curls with more volume), she went to work and I was worried it may have come out different than I expected it to about 15 mins in, I reiterated what I wanted and she was able to switch her method, which ended up working out BEAUTIFULLY. The first appointment took about 3-4 hours and the second was around 2 hours. She was very patient with me and wanted to make sure My hair came out looking PERFECT. I cannot stress how well the perm came out!! It was EXACTLY what I was looking for. Also i cant forget to mention how gentle she was on washing my hair, it felt sooo good and the back of my neck remained completely dry! She is delightful and very fun to talk to and very knowledge about hair. I had been warned and warned again by my mother for years of the dangers of perms. Ever since I voiced my desire for one, you should see how fast her face would drop and she'd become the biggest perm-hater on the planet. I guess after the 80's big hair trend passed, she had been more than disillusioned by the appeal of big hair. But going against her wishes, I trusted in yelp and found Permanently Yours. I went in and was serviced by Vicki, a gorgeous hair stylist who is friendly and passionate. She assured me that all of my mother's worries would not be a problem with their "air perming" technique. They basically put all the chemicals in your hair and rinse it off like a normal perm, but then they douse your hair in conditioner (while still on the rollers) and make you go home with that big mess on your head. Embarrassing driving home and going to get groceries that night, I suggest you go on a day where you have all your necessities stocked IN your house already. But when you come in the next morning, they take your hair out and it is wonderful! Luxuriously soft from the deep conditioning, and curly as can be from the night of rebounding to the rollers. I got my perm right after New Years, and in May it is still quite wavy. I may go back in for a re-do soon, only because I like my hair super curly =] But I get compliments on it all the time, regarding how natural it looks, and $135 for a cut and perm is quite a good deal compared to the prices and services you would find at a lesser quality salon. Called and asked about the air perm and if they could do big ocean waves with longer hair. I told them I would have to travel an hour to get to them. She had told me yes. When I got there, they told me no they couldn't do a wave and they told me that I could not do what I was looking for without a curling iron but going through the internet, I see that it can be done without the curling iron. My hair is normally as straight as can be and had never held curls well without an absurd amount of hairspray and I wanted a change! After much research, I decided an Air Perm was exactly what I wanted because it's less damaging for your hair. Cosette, the owner, is who worked on my hair and she was so patient and kind in working with me as I had never gotten a perm done before, which I really appreciated. She even worked with me on not doing the perm up to my scalp on the top of my head and not doing anything too springy - I wanted loose, casual, fun curls! I was really nervous about the outcome when I went, but felt a little better when Cosette said it could be undone if I didn't like it. Thankfully, it turned out really well! The curls are curlier right after washing but loosen up as it dries so my hair is pretty wavy and it holds curls better now if I want to style it into those loose "beach waves". I'm really glad with how it turned out and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to get a perm.
