A few weeks before the wedding we found out we would be having an outdoor wedding due to the Governor's restrictions. An outdoor wedding in December in Washington....who would've thought! Anyway, I went back to Jennifer and she was able to find me a shawl that would help as it was a sleeveless dress. This truly was a one stop shop if need be. I found my hair accessories, my daughters shoes and another dress for my daughter as well. Jennifer the whole time was very reassuring, and everything turned out just perfect! We selected three dresses to try on…read moreand paid the "average" price between the dresses with the understanding they would arrive within two weeks, leaving enough time for alterations before prom on the 30th. Two weeks came and went with no phone call or update. I had to take the initiative to follow up multiple times, despite being told they would call me back with updates, which never happened. I called on the 12th, 21st, 22nd, and again later that week, and each time I was given a different story. Finally, on the 22nd, only 8 days before prom I was told the dresses were being held up in Portland. By that point, I had completely lost trust in their communication and customer service. The lack of follow-up, transparency, and urgency created so much unnecessary stress and anxiety during what should have been an exciting time for my daughter. Again, I had to reach out when I didn't hear back by the 26th, I still had to continue reaching out myself for an update!!! I finally received a call from Jen on the 27th, just 3 days before prom, saying the dresses had arrived around 2:30 PM. I had to leave work early to rush over so my daughter could try them on, choose one, and then quickly get it to alterations in time. What disappointed me most was not just the delay, but the complete lack of initiative, communication, accountability, or even a simple apology. After reading another recent review describing a very similar experience, it's concerning that this seems to be a pattern. I will not be returning, and I'm sharing this review in hopes of saving other parents from the same stress, frustration, and last-minute panic that we experienced.

Also, when I said yes and we were taking my measurements to order it, my sizing was not matching up with the manufacturer's and her and Courtney were both trying to figure it out and they told me I could buy it off the rack since we knew it fit me well. The place was very clean and minimalistic and modern feeling. I loved the vibe. The ladies working were very sweet and helpful. Very welcoming and very helpful on all levels. We did find her dress on the clearance rack which was fantastic. The reason I took a star off is that the dress was too big on her but the gal helping made it seem like it would be a fairly easy alteration to size it down. We purchased the dress (even though on the clearance rack, still 1200.00) and took it to our alterations lady. After conferring with the alterations lady, who we have used for years and knows her stuff, we learned it is not an easy fix and what my daughter was told could be done, is nearly impossible . At any rate, the alterations that can be done will ensure that the dress is perfect for the wedding date. Just know that some alterations cannot be done and that ones that can be done are expensive. You might want to check with whoever is doing your alterations, if you have to get them done, to see what you want done, entails and what the cost is. Even though you may love the dress, it might be better to keep looking unless you have an endless budget. Overall, we are pleased with the shop and definitely recommend, just keep the above comments in mind.

These are real fabrics, real period pieces. You feel completely in character. I've used her for two events and both times the costumes were out of the park. One was for an SNL Halloween party where she had everything I needed to get into the character of Father Guido Sarducci. Then a Renaissance costume to mimic a country peasant woman. I have learned that it's best to call two weeks out as it can take more than one fitting to get your costume right. She is a one woman small business owner wearing many hats, so you need to plan ahead to give her time to help with your costume.

I was doing some Yelp searches and though there were a couple of bridal shops nearer to my home in the Puyallup area, when I saw Ivoryology I felt like this was going to be the place to go. I called on a Friday morning asking if we could get in that day and they said yes! I knew exactly where the store would be located as I previously went to school at UW Tacoma -it's in the alley way across from the mattress factory. Parking can be tricky. Coren listened to what I wanted and allowed us to pick out whatever dresses we wanted. The first 2 were stunning, but a little tight around the arms/bust as I'm top heavy. Normally anywhere from a size 10-14, Coren pulled a size 16 of a dress she thought would be perfect-and it was!! I said yes to that dress and then Coren helped me pick out a gorgeous veil to complete the look. I waited to post my review so I could show pictures of the final look (no professional hair and makeup, I just did it myself). Not professional pics -we'll do those later. It's true, the camera adds 10 pounds. And I'm not photogenic. But I'm still so pleased and I felt beautiful. Overall, I was and am so happy with my experience at Ivoryology and with my dress and veil. A huge part of what made the experience so special was Michaela. She was incredibly patient, kind, and genuinely invested in helping me find my dress. We tried on so many different styles, she never rushed me or made me feel overwhelmed. Instead, she guided me thoughtfully, listened to what I liked (and didn't like), and helped me narrow things down in a way that felt easy and fun. She also had the dress changing process down to a science! She pampered me while also providing privacy and efficiency. The process with her was so seamless and comfortable. And the best part- I found my perfect dress! Also, they never pressured me or made me feel bad about not liking certain dresses or not finding the one right away (I did not make my decision on my first visit).
