A silver pendant I was gifted had a loop too small to fit on any chains I owned. I found Creative Silver through its great Yelp reviews and would recommend it to anyone. The shop is small and unassuming, but George is an extremely skilled jeweler. I had first tried a few stores on Jeweler's Row, and they recommended buying an entirely new (and costly!) chain. Instead, George simply added loops to the pendant that were large enough to accommodate my current chain (2 loops, to be specific, to ensure that the pendant wouldn't twist on the chain) and soldered them on---while I waited!---all to the tune of a mere $10. I Googled "watch batteries 19103" and this Yelp page was one of the first. I was going to be in this area, so I took six watches in for batteries. I was most concerned with my light up, musical Christmas sweater. The wire to the sound was broken and I was hoping that he could fix it. The batteries were replaced but George informed me that an electrician would have more expertise as my sweater went. BUT...he does love a challenge so he managed to solder the wire to the correct spot. It would have worked but I lost the sound box and I felt like an idiot. Six watch batteries and an attempt at a Christmas sweater: $30. REALLY. He didn't charge me at all for the solder. I tried to tip him but he went out of his way to give me a ten instead of two fives so that I couldn't. George was so nice, I wish I could give him ten stars. read more

Such a wonderful experience. I had a stockpile of watches that needed new batteries, broken necklaces that needed soldering or new links, and even earrings that required new hooks. I dropped it all off with George, ran some errands, and within an hour everything was ready. The prices were between $5-10 a piece, which was discussed up front. Fiance and I had two watch batteries die within about a week of each other. Being fairly new to Philly, Yelp is my go-to for finding service providers. George and Creative Silver came so highly recommended, I decided to give him a try. He changed the batteries in our watches while I stood there, and they were about $5+ some change. He engraves his initials on the battery, so if it dies within 18 months, you bring it back and he replaces it for no cost. Not too shabby. I also had him replace the crystal on my watch -- it's about 7 years old and horribly scratched. He had to send it out, so I was told to come back the following Friday. I came back the Monday after that, and for some reason the delivery person hadn't returned, so I was told to come back on Tuesday. I was a little put off by this, since I gave my phone number when I left my watch. Since I was told to come back on Friday, it would have been nice to have received a phone call saying it was going to be another four days before my watch was ready. Not a deal-breaker, but it was a ding on my opinion of the customer service. Ended up costing me about $30 for the crystal and the battery replacement. You can't beat that. Bottom line: I will definitely go back if/when I have more watch-fixing needs. read more

I didn't know his name but everybody's saying George. He's genuinely a good guy hard-to-find nowadays. I brought in a black diamond bracelet which he charge minimum to fix and clean right on the spot. A couple weeks later I'll brought in a black Ego drive citizens watch. Not only was he super friendly, but he did not give up on my (super cheap) bracelet. He shared that it might not be possible to take out links without completely breaking the bracelet (again, a super cheap one so I didn't mind the honest assessment). However, he was determined and managed to not only fit it to my wrist but also made the left over link in to a future necklace. After all this work I was expecting to pay way more than he charged.
