Employees are so friendly and are very helpful when giving recommendations and explaining what each product is. This store is all clean and ethical beauty products which I love. This location in Beacon Hill is now under the Credo Beauty name, but it used to be Follain. I'm not sure if the companies combined or what, but they have really good fragrance-free makeup and skincare brands, along with travel size items for vacations or the beach. read more

I LOVE this store!! The women who work there are very knowledgable and helpful. They have THE BEST selection of "clean" and organic beauty and bath products in the Boston area. If you aren't sure about a product, they'll gladly provide you with a sample. I appreciate the fact they don't push products or pressure you to buy. Great products but horrible customer service. The woman at the counter was just staring at me and my friend and the other worker didn't acknowledge us or offer to help either. I was hesitant to ask them for help and just picked whatever I thought was best for me. Funny thing is that I got an email a few days ago from the store director checking in to see how my purchase was. I emailed about my store experience and I never got a response back lolol. I'm ready to pay $150 for a lip gloss, mascara, and moisturizer. I'm not ready to pay that much for service worse than a CVS makeup counter. I have heard rave reviews about this store from a friend and was excited to finally make it here on a visit to Boston. The staff could not have been more rude or disinterested in the products. The way the make up is displayed, you really need a tour guide - lots of pencils and sticks of various brands and type - concealer, eye pencil, lipliner just mixed together and tossed in random cups. I had to pry information out of the sales people. We were the only ones in the store and clearly wanted and needed help I was glad to find that unlike other natural beauty stores - Credo for example - Follian really has a stringent selection process. Still, I'll be returning the moisturizer with SPF that did nothing to protect my skin from the sun and left me red and blotchy. read more

Stumbled upon this shop as I was walking Beacon Hill and fell in love immediately. I am all for natural/organic skincare and shops with the most beautiful interior and aesthetic make me go all heart eyes! If I lived in Boston, I would be here all the time! Since I was traveling, I was so thankful they had travel size bottles for most of their products. I was familiar with most of the brands they carry so I enjoyed my time browsing through all the skin care, makeup, and body care products. They also have a mens section, so guys aren't left out! This place is such a gem--I love the women who work here, the awesome products, and the classes they have. Sarah, the make up artist in residence, does monthly classes and they're so much fun. I've really learned some great tricks and tips! And I'm not super adventurous about my make up, but I love testing things out and seeing what sticks. I've been to some meet the maker events and really enjoy getting to know the people behind the lovely products that Follain sells. The selection of beauty products is so thoughtful. I always feel great about my purchases. I love the Indie Lee line, the Ursa Minor, the RMS beauty and make up selection, the Herbivore bath products, the W3ll People and Ilia make up. They have a nice range of prices, too, which is nice because beauty products can get crazy. The women who work here are all so kind and helpful, you ask them a question or for a recommendation and they're more than willing to help you out and let you test things (and even send you home with testers!). I stopped in here on Sunday with a friend after a workout class as I wanted to sample a moisturizer with SPF and we ended up staying for over an hour trying things out. Previously, I had only been to the location at union market in DC which is sadly closed but this location is much nicer and offers more! We were greeted by staff and encouraged to test out items and do a full face wash with provided towels and sink. This was a great way to try out a full face routine of products I had been looking at online. I'm not sure if they do take home samples however I'm not sure it is necessary as they are very generous with being able to try everything in the store. The staff working were super helpful and were happy to answer all my questions including when I asked the price of things a million times. I never felt rushed or hovered over by the staff which is what really made me enjoy this store. Yes, there are some really expensive items in the store however skin is an investment and you can find some items that would be the same price as buying a higher end line at target, nordstrom, kiehls etc. I think this store is a great stop if you are into clean beauty/skincare and want to give things a try before committing to a purchase. They also have a selection of makeup which allowed me to try some colors from ILIA I had been eyeing online. I already have items on my list for my next visit! read more

This is a shout out to the ladies of the store, as well as Follain- the company itself, for offering a brick and mortar store for healthy, natural products! This isn't your typical beauty store. The ladies that work here are not salesy or pushy. They genuinely want to help you pick out the right products for you. They are full of knowledge, but you've got to trust them. Keep an open mind. I was excited to visit because I'm a huge fan of Osea products. Instead of having my order shipped from all the way from California, I was psyched to replenish my supplies and support local business. For the Osea lovers out there- Follain does not carry the masks, but that's because they're selective about what products they carry and there are other alternatives that are just as good, if not better (ps. May Lindstrom The Problem Solver- WOW!). Oh, trust me. I'll be back. One of the nice ladies at the store introduced me to the Think Dirty app, and now I feel compelled to slowly switch over my products. Everything offered here is top notch, and most important- natural and not evil. ps. Ask the ladies about essential oils for your skin! It will blow your mind. pps. Beautiful green beauty store in Beacon Hill. I just recently started switching over to more safe, cruelty free, natural products. I found Follain online and since I work in the area, decided to visit. The first time I went the two ladies working were friendly, but never tried to push products on me. They offered help but did not act as saleswomen, which I loved. The store offers cosmetics, skin care, hair care, and even locally made fillable liquid soaps. The prices are not cheap, but that is to be expected when buying products with quality ingredients that are also very safe. I went here again the other day while they had a few items on sale. One lady was very helpful in helping me find a bronzer. Definitely recommend! read more

I was visiting Boston and wanted to check out their store in person and I was glad I did. It was a super sweet little spot, not too big but not too tiny either. I really like Follain's location in the Southend in Boston - Dartmouth street. I have purchase products there and have had a great experience particular from Tara, who works there. I recently purchased the Tammi Fender antioxidant cream and developed an allergic reaction to it - sandpaper swollen face with hives. I tried to return it to the Charles Street location in Boston. I was surprised to learn they could only offer me a store credit even with my face being swollen but I did not argue their policy. The 2 women working in the store could not get the system to issue me a credit. They tried multiple things and it would not go through. It took over 25 minutes and I had to run down the street 3 blocks there and back in 100 plus degree weather to feed my meter again. when I returned they had finally spoken to a manager who was not physically there and took my information in order to mail me a credit. So all that wait for nothing. Overall, I would have expected more from Follain - at least they could have offered me a glass of water or given me a sample of something for the trouble. I will not be shopping there again. read more

I attended the monthly free makeup tutorial party last month and had a wonderful experience. I don't feel very knowledgeable about makeup and don't know a lot of people here in Beacon Hill but as soon as I walked in I felt welcomed and treated to yummy snacks and drinks. Sarah was SO incredible. I learned a lot from her and she really knows her stuff, but she was also patient, supportive, empowering, funny and sweet. I am excited to schedule a consultation with her and will definitely be coming back for future tutorials. This company promotes only the healthiest products for your skin. They do the research to make sure you are not putting harmful chemicals into your body, so that you don't have to worry about it. AND the products work great too! read more

The actual curation of products and display is gorgeous. As a Californian, I am used to stores like this, and appreciate organic, natural beauty products that work! That said, the staff is RUDE. I literally came in there, spent 5 minutes, and had a $300+ purchase, and the woman "helping" me acted as if I was hindering her day. I didn't even get a thank you. The attitude and quite frankly, mean-girlness of the staff makes it so i'll never come back here again. 1 star for the decor, 1 star for the concept of the store and 1 star for Amy helping me out and explaining to me her believes of beauty industry. I discovered Follain from online blogs and immediately fell in love. Their idea of being a big happy family definitely translated through to the other 2 regulars that were in the store. My husband and I walked in and there was no hello and how are you. We walked around hoping someone would notice us. We understood the make-up artist had a consultation and she was with a customer so she couldn't be bothered - I stood right next to her and she acted like I didn't exist. While being extremely friendly with everyone else that were there (giving hugs). There was a woman at he counter and she did not acknowledge me. I know that she might be a cashier so I didn't end up asking for her help. I needed guidance so I asked the make up artist if she can help. She ended up getting Amy, which I was glad because I had no idea how to begin. I was going to get stuff regardless but this experience definitely put a dent in my impression of the place. I won't go back again since I know I won't be welcomed. I worked in the beauty industry before so I know how customer service should be done. Products are great. Customer service is horrible. I live in the neighborhood and this was my hub for finding new clean products. I've had the same woman every time except once. She's rude and really uninterested in helping you find anything... she also hates every product. Kind of strange. I believe this is the manager but I'm not entirely sure. The one time I didn't have this woman I had a younger girl who was really not knowledgeable of the products at all. Since more places are selling these products, I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Great products and I'm really intrigued by the concept but the customer service I've experienced has been less than inspiring. I live in the neighborhood and have been in several times. the first time was best: someone helped me but they were out of the product I wanted to purchase. She told me to come back on the weekend, I did and waited and waited for someone to help. Finally gave up and left. The store is very small and there were at least three staff on but somehow no one had time to talk to me. Came back a week or so later and there was only one other customer, at least three staff, I waited and waited, One staff said to another that she was going to check inventory and walked right by me -- while I was standing right there no one asked to help me -- finally I walked up to someone sitting at the desk looking at paperwork and said can you help me? She seemed a little annoyed (?!). To be fair it was near the end of the day but at least 20 minutes before closing and I wasn't asking for detailed advice just checking on a specific product. They were still out of stock -- she said she'd add me to the call list .. .and here I am today, another week+ later .. no call so I gave up and ordered online direct from the brand. Great potential but let's focus on the customer. I can order ANYTHING online - I go to a store to get advice and guidance from people who are more knowledgeable than I. read more

I love Follain and the products there. The store is lovely and easy to navigate. The products have better-for-you ingredients and this location has more parking options. I completely agree with the review Zhen below. The manager Amy and her staff do not seem to be consistent in their friendliness towards customers. I was matched with the wrong colors for a makeup consultation with Sarah. After I informed the store and requested a refund on the products, I never even heard a response for months. When I called, the manager was quite rude and unsophisticated in her response, saying that the email address was for their online customers only, without offering an apology. How was I supposed to know? I believe it is the shop's own responsibility to list the correct email address, and they failed to do so. I politely requested that she inform the makeup artist but she declined, as Sarah now worked in NYC and she said that it is not her responsibility. She did not even offer a thank you for bringing this to her attention or apologies for the mistake. One would think she would be interested and concerned. When I spoke wth the owner, she was also very unsympathetic, and didn't even spell my name right. Maybe this shop has interesting products, but I think beauty is also about treating others well. As a customer, I would not choose to go to this shop for my beauty needs. read more

I'm hooked!!! I worked with Sarah at Follain last night to find more effective products for my dry winter skin. Sarah took the time to give me options for products that appealed to my senses and how I like my skin to look(dewy, hydrated). She was also knowledgable on how some of my current makeup might be harming my skin. I'm excited to start using my brightening serum, the youth dew, my new favorite lip tint, and the bio correct multi action concealer.
