I went in here today to look around and really liked it. I noticed they had a bunch of lavender products so I looked at that first. The packaging was really nice on them and the products looked like they were of good quality but I ended up looking at their other scents since I grow lavender right in my yard plus I make a lot of my own bath oils, soaps and lotions when it comes to lavender. They also have Shea butter products which I really like as well as lemon verbena products and so on. Everything there is displayed really nice and the ingredients they use in their products are really good. There is a sink there so you can try on stuff and wash it off before you try on other stuff. The person running the store was awesome and helped me out a lot. She helped me find out the ingredients in the product that I ended up buying. I would highly recommend this place. read more

I have passed by this store so many times over the years but never went in. I was so glad I did. Not only do they take ANY old bottles, containers from other beauty companies to recycle but you get 10% off anything in the store. Now that is the way to do business. The various items they have tend to be scented so if you prefer things that aren't this may not be the best since that's limited. It is a bit pricier than what you may find in other stores so need to determine what works w/ in your budget too. The various types of hand creams w. various % of shea butter is not like anything I have seen. This place is serious about providing you w/ products that work best for you, which you can also test out to make sure it is what you want, Not only that, but the people working there are super friendly & helpful so you can navigate the many products & not be overwhelmed. read more

L'Occitane is a beautiful boutique company that sells high quality body products. I've gone into their stores before but generally bought very little because they are expensive. The smells in the store are amazing, light natural smells not fake over perfumed scents like other body stores. I got back into L'Occitane because I'm taking a trip to Southern France and was thinking of visiting their factory, otherwise I probably would have forgotten the brand because they don't have many shops in the Boston area (2?) I have been dealing with itchy winter skin again and will pay anything to calm it, so when I saw they had an oil based body wash I decided to go. I liked that I could try out the different products in the store including body washes by using their pretty sink in front. Again, the scents were amaaazing and the Almond Body Oil I got was not a sicky sweet baked goods scent I expected, but a very light floral almond scent. The staff, of note, was incredibly not helpful and very brisk. Even with the basics of asking if I needed help. I saw one of them really put off a customer who came in while I was at the register because the cashier interrupted our conversation to briskly ask if she needed help without actually meaning it. When it came time to make a purchase and use a VIP deal I got in an email, it was very tough. The first time I asked the said I needed to show the email as proof because they had no idea what I was talking about. So I had to walk around the mall to get reception and then eventually I pulled up the email. Then she argued with me about what the promotion was, I showed her the fine print to prove that it was indeed a promotion and indeed available online and in store. Then she rifiled through some boxes behind the register and pulled out the promotion item but still didn't think it was the promotion item. Then she believed that it was and flipped through a stack of papers to "find the code" I gave her the code I got but I guess she needed something else. She couldn't find it so she said "I'll do this instead" and did something random on the register acting like she was doing me a huge favor. Urgh. At least I got what I wanted, but seriously they need to train their staff better if they expect us to want to buy their products. read more

I have been a fan of their products for many years, going back to the original store down on Newbury Street. This store in the Pru, is generally well stocked and run, although full disclosure, my visits are far between because I don't visit the area often and also the products while excellent quality are on the higher end of the price scale. My mum loves their moisturizer and was truly crushed when they discontinued their olive oil line. The soap she uses from another store/high end line has been discontinued so I thought for Valentine's Day I would see about the Ultra sensitive shea butter facial soap for her to try out. They did have it, but as a single, online was a better deal for three/but then there is the charge for shipping, unless you spend a certain amount, etc. And I like to support brick and mortar. I also bought my mum a hand cream because she still misses a limited hibiscus they did several years ago, and they held it while I took a look around. The travel samples are also a bit pricey but also a nice way to try a new product, I bought a mini-peony face cream for my mum as well and a lip balm for myself -- while high end is also very excellent for these extra cold and windy winter days. There was no up-spell spiel on the Valentine's specials, but also they did not ask if I was in the rewards program/and I flaked because I was popping en route somewhere else. Also would have been nice if they gave me smaller bag and some tissue. While I was there, a girl came into return a hand cream, one of the two employees had to be called over because it was a cash return, but I think the customer had the receipt and it was in the time frame, because there did not seem to be a problem. She was refunded promptly left and they they rang me up. To note, their shea butter hand cream is lovely and one year visiting DC I brought home the cherry blossom scent for gifts--the scents here are strong but the unscented shea is excellent. The lavender hand cream is also excellent quality and between the lavender/shea hand cream as gifts--I have converted a few friends. read more

I had the worst experience at the coply location! Dont go! From the manager down to the sales girl. I was returning an item i had purchased on line. I only had the packing slip no receipt. The woman rilled her eye and told me she couldnt take it back and was i sure i purchased it because the happened to be one that was a free promotional gift a few weeks back. She said this outload in front of other customers!!!! It was all downhill from there. They need to get rid of thatstaff immediately! I was disrespected, embarressed.i had to call the 1-80 #. Some of their stuff is quite pricey, some stuff is more reasonable, but almost everything is wonderful. I adore their scented candles. They are small but well made and last a long time. The lavender essential oil roller ball is only $15 and a great way to incorporate some relaxing lavender essence into your daily routine. Sign up for their mailing list and you will get lovely samples and discount offers in the mail. The Good: Every time I have been to this shop, all staff was very helpful and attentive without being pushy and aggressive, in addition to being polite and informative (I would give staff five stars!). Packaging is beautiful and if you're gifting, the products really don't even need to be gift wrapped. I have loved all the products that I've been using for several years, until I decided to investigate the ingredients and the company further, and... The Bad: ...what I found was that my favorite product (the "Immortelle" moisturizing cream) earned a score of 8 or "High Concern" (1 being lowest, 10 being highest) on a "Hazard Rating" system developed the non-profit group EWG (Environmental Working Group) as listed on their resource guide website, SkinDeep.org: http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/product/332320/L%27OCCITANE_Immortelle_Precious_Cream/ Additionally, I learned that the company did not / would not sign a 'Compact for Safe Cosmetics,' a campaign that supports the Safe Cosmetics Act of 2011 (H.R.2359). This act, in a nutshell, wants US cosmetics companies to fully disclose all of their ingredients and generally follow the European Union's Cosmetics Directive, which is like the EU's FDA for hair/makeup/skin products. When I went to L'Occitane's website, they said that they "keep abreast of the latest studies and the position taken by the world's bodies responsible for cosmetic regulations"...really? Then why wouldn't they sign the Compact for Safe Cosmetics? I was surprised and disappointed by all of this and now need to find new moisturizers. read more

Nice lotion. The French really know their stuff. I bought a gift set from here for a friend (lemon smell I think) and that friend seems to really appreciate it. However, I still prefer Sabon (products from Israel) because I feel Sabon has more diversity in nice smelling products, plus Sabon has really great scrubs. read more

In answer to Carol L. from Boston, I found a website here in Australia which says that L'Occitane actually have signed the compact for safe cosmetics. It is the Ethical Consumer Guide (ethical.org.au). Perhaps they caved in to pressure? Unless this website has their facts wrong. I hope not. Having said that, I am not completely happy with their products, I think I could probably get products cheaper, say from Clinique, (I have used their facial scrub for years and it as never changed in quality) which are more likely to be there in a few years, as opposed to the frequent turnover of products at L'Occitane. I am not really happy with their customer service, some SAs are better than others, but here in Australia, they greet you with an idiotic 'Bonjour" when you walk in. It sounds fake and immedaitely puts me off, however I continue to buy their products, only because some of them do work, others not so much. read more

I bought two products in this store today because they have very good reputation and I knew this brand from my friends and online reviews. And they are actually good products. However, the shopping experience was bad. There were three salespeople in the store, no body greeted us or asked what we need when we entered (it was not during a busy time obviously, only one or two customers inside). It also happened to the other two Asian girls, who also walked in to the store and received no services that they deserve. But they were passionated to other customers, who look like they can speak fluent English. After I checked out, the cashier(one of the three salespeople) said "Here is your receipt, Bye bye now". I felt like I was not welcomed to the store and her tone sounded happy that I was leaving. I think every customer should be respected in the store and obtain the same services. This shopping experience made me feel uncomfortable. I will not go there again, I may buy the products online or elsewhere. read more

I love L'occitane products. However the customer service at this store at the Pru is just very bad. They are only nice if you purchase something from the store, but if you come to make a return, they give you that "sour face" and all the friendliness suddenly change. Also, there's one employee at this particular store that is very annoying, she won't leave me alone when I want to take the time to browse. Obviously she was trying to earn commission. I understand that. But, when I ask her about products she didn't have any knowledge about the prices and availability and had to ask her colleague. I'd rather she leaves me alone and browse/shop on my own. read more

First off, I have been a L'Occitane customer for 3 years. Being french, born and raised in the South of France, I knew the brand prior to coming to the US, but I only started to use their products to help ease my eczema. I have been to numerous L'Occitane stores between New York, Paris, Washington D.C and Boston. But the level of customer service I received from the location in the Prudential Center is excellent. One reason: Jared (who I believe is the store manager). I have visited this location for the 5th time recently and met Jared, their Skin Expert who is extremely knowledgeable. While I was only planning on refilling my usual products (i.e Shea butter cream and Oil Shower gel), I ended being happy learning about and purchasing new products. I had a recent little incident which left me with a pretty deep scare on the face. When he noticed, Jared rightfully gave me the same recommendation and even more than the facial reconstructive surgeon gave me after the operation. Needless to say, his comments proved his level of knowledge regarding facial skin, and in my case, scare treatment and the best products to use. Jared made our visit (I was with my girlfriend who is also a long time customer) more of an experience rather than a transaction. All locations have the same products, but only a few have great customer experiences. This is one of them. read more
