I came across Ristorante Giovanni's while staying at a hotel nearby and picked the restaurant based on the great Yelp reviews and pictures. Upon arrival I was promptly seated at their outdoor patio and was served complimentary bread and water. I chose the Veal Scallopini with crisp potato cake, fresh spinach and mushroom marsala sauce from the lunch menu. This dish arrived quickly and was very nicely presented. It also smelled so good, mouthwatering good! The veal was thinly sliced and nicely seasoned. The marsala mushroom wine sauce with garlic was one of the best I have ever tasted, and the breaded mashed potatoes were out of this world. I also enjoyed the freshly prepared spinach which went very well with the rest of the dish. Five stars for reasonably priced and exceptionally tasty food, friendly service and great atmosphere!! The restaurant came highly recommended so I drove the 50 miles Tuesday evening to dine with friends. All the dishes I saw had a very elegant presentation. However. When the server asked me how my $55.00 piece of horseradish crusted halibut was I replied that "It was overcooked." There was no followup by server or restaurant. So why did he ask? My crème brûlée dessert was not made to the standard taught to me in France. The sugar must cover the entire top of the custard so that when it is torched the crackly caramelized sugar shell goes from edge to edge. This crème brûlée would have been rejected in my class. I discovered this bar tucked away in an unassuming office building several months ago, and wanted to revisit! I can't really tell if the restaurant is big or small, but it was without a doubt a full house this evening, a Thursday! We had reservations. Service was outstanding and personal yet professional and I thoroughly enjoyed a glass of bubbly! The beet salad was outstanding!! I got the Cappellini without anchovy oil for my entree and that was also flavorful. I appreciate the ice cream for dessert from The House and the other guests started singing to me! Family vacation 2021...bringing the California variant of COVID-19 to your city. Giovanni's is located in the corner of what looks like an office building in Beachwood. I had passed by it several times driving around before we checked the Yelp reviews and decided to order food from them. I called in my order. The food was waiting for me as I arrived. We ordered a linguine with clams and mussels, and a cavatelli with bolognese sauce. Bread was included in the meal. The food was all packed in an aluminum container and placed in a paper bag. Unfortunately, the linguine sauce leaked and not only soaked the paper bag, but, the bag disintegrated as I was carrying the pasta back to the hotel causing all my food to fall on the floor. Luckily, the food did not flip over and was wrapped securely as it fell, with everything staying inside the aluminum container. Fortunately, there was enough sauce still left in both pastas. Both pastas, were excellent! They were tasty and the portion was generous. Other than the paper bag disintegrating, the food and service here were excellent. My wife, our friend and I ate here July 2025. We ate outside on a covered patio which very enjoyable. We started with salads which were very good. Two of our 3 meals were very good. Our friend had the gnocchi which she really liked. I had the boar pappardelle which I thought was excellent. Unfortunately, my wife ordered the the pork cutlet, which came off the bar menu. This was dry and had no sauce. The pork was breaded and the meat inside was very thin. She did not find this satisfactory at all. Since we were celebrating our friend's birthday, the restaurant gave her a serving of spumoni, which we shared. This was very good also. All in all, for the price, we did not expect one of the meals to be not up to the standards of a fine restaurant. read more

Giovanni's is a fantastic Italian restaurant in Beachwood. It's great for a special occasion or celebration. The servers are prompt and knowledgeable. Recommendations are required or you can sit in the lounge which is a different feel and menu. The seafood linguine was delicious! It's a huge portion, I took over half home for the next day. It tasted great the following day too. My fiancé got the veal Parmesan which was another gigantic portion. They have a great wine selection. We will be back! read more

First off, this restaurant appears to be in a small business park or general office building, so it's an odd location, but has valet parking. I already knew it was going to be the fancier type of Italian restaurant, but you can see they're trying very hard with their decor to classy the place up with their given space. Most of the other people in the restaurant were dressed in suits (or dress shirts) or dresses/skirts, so I assume and hope they were celebrating something (like an anniversary). Otherwise, this place would be too pretentious. We ordered the ceviche, which was tiny and pricey, but still decent. I had never had gnocchi before (I'm more of an Old Spaghetti Factory or Buca di beppo - look it up- kind of person), so I thought I'd try it here for the first time. Also, it was because I didn't see anything else I really liked on the limited menu. I was hoping for some ravioli or lasagna type foods, but this place is too fancy and high class to have those. If they do have anything like that, maybe I'm just too ignorant and don't know Italian well enough to be able to tell which ones are. The closest thing to lasagna here is probably the pappardelle, which I tried, but wasn't a fan of. I'm big on sauce (and cheese), so I felt like everything I ate was lacking in sauce and very dry. Also, there was not enough cheese... The desserts are tasty and as expected. Nothing that special. I wouldn't recommend coming here unless you live nearby and want an excuse to blow a ton of money on food to feel "fancy". Even if you're here for an anniversary or "romantic" date, you're not going to get a lot of privacy or an intimate setting. I also suggest ordering from their special menu because those items appeared to taste and be cooked better. There was a huge wedding reception group (older couples) that came in towards the middle of our meal. They were seated in a circular table in the middle of the room, and basically the entire room was focused on them because of how loud and raucous they were. Gorgeous restaurant and our waiter was great. Am lactose intolerant and carefully read the menu for anything with lactose in it. Ordered a scallop dish that came on a potato cake. The scallops were a bit dry but the side of spinach and mushrooms was delicious as was the potato cake. I noticed the potato cake was like playdough consistency which made me start wondering if this might have cheese in it. I asked the waiter who said, "Yes it does have cheese." And I said the menu doesn't mention that. He said he would let someone know because it really should say what dairy products are in it. Later in the day, I called the restaurant to let them know because by that point my stomach was hurting from the cheese and I didn't want anyone else to make the mistake of ordering a dish with cheese in it that wasn't noted on the menu. The woman who answered the phone was rude and said I should have asked if lactose was in it throwing it back on me. And that I should know a potato cake is mashed potatoes fried. I didn't know that's what it was. In today's day and age with all the food allergies people are experiencing, gluten and dairy items like milk and cheese should be noted on the menu and it was noted in other dish about lactose but why would a restaurant take the chance on customers getting sick from what they don't reveal is in their dishes. read more

Place was packed so I could only get a seat at the bar but that is my preference usually when traveling for business. But went with the calamari and seafood linguine. SOLID choices. First the calamari. Uhh might be the best I've ever had. Perfectly cooked!! Very light but crispy coating and if it was any more tender you'd think they forgot to put the calamari in. Perfectly paired with some peppers and drizzle of sauce. I wouldn't change a thing and I would highly recommend you try this gem!! Main course seafood linguine. Very good excellent preparation and mix of capers for a very nice balanced taste. All of the seafood was delicious and cooked perfectly. The linguine was light and fresh again perfectly cooked. I saw the special sea bass come out and thought I would order that next time. Honestly, even with as much care as they took to prepare the linguine it is a pretty sure bet that everything here is delicious. Congratulations Giovannis Ristorante!!! We were visiting the Cleveland area and discovered Giovanni's We liked it so much we ate two meals there. The dining room is elegant and attractive and the service is superb. Our first dinner began with excellent cocktails, followed by lobster bisque and a salad- both great. Halibut and Veal Scallopini were our entrees- good. Second dinner began with great cocktails and then my wife had lamb soup that she loved. I selected what seemed like a strange dish, "ham and eggs". It was deviled eggs and prosciutto with homemade potato chips. Sound weird, but it was delicious. Who knew deviled eggs could taste so good? We both ate the halibut with sweet corn, carrot, radish, potato and spinach. The only reason we rated a 4 rather than a five is that we dislike eating out of bowls. Good for dogs, but regardless how good the food is, we feel it should be served on a plate. Serving sizes are also a little larger than they need to be. People do not require that much food for dinner. read more

Our cocktails, wine, and dinner were great - we started with the calamari steak, and then Grace had Seared Scallops & Roasted Cauliflower while I went for the Veal Parmagano over Cappellini. They know it was Grace's birthday and wanted to give her a birthday treat for dessert but we kindly declined because she had cake at lunch and we had a charcuterie board waiting for us at home. My succulent crusted Scallops were so delicious that I enjoy every bite albeit my seafood allergy! The baby sesame breadsticks to fill the tiny space left in your tummy were just what I needed. Keep in mind the Lounge menu boasts meat: stuffed peppers, meatballs swimming in marinara to name a few... seafood such as calamari, clamp and mussel pasta... and beef like a filet. I could be exaggerating, but if I recall correctly, there are 16 items from which to choose. We went to dinner for my wife's birthday. The restaurant was unusually not very busy, especially on a Friday night. It may be that they lost a bit of their special "recipe" we are accustomed to. The server, Al, was very nice. The service was a bit slow with a few missteps here and there. Two examples: 1) we got bread but no butter or olive oil and 2) the wine we ordered (from their digital iPad, which should be simple to keep updated) was the wrong year. The food itself was good but not great. Staters: My wife had the calamari steak and I had the special Waygu carpaccio. The calamari itself was good but it was served in a very savory broth. Typically when we have calamari, it comes with a lighter, more lemony sauce - just my personal preference, however, the sauce overpowered the calamari in this case. My carpaccio was nice - served with micro greens, capers, and aioli. It was good overall but the ratio of beef to greens was off - not enough beef for the amount of greens. Entree: My wife had the special eggplant parmesan and I had the special Alaskan cod. My wife's salad was nice. The eggplant was soaked in the sauce & huge amount of cheese (too much cheese is a common Ohio mistake). My cod was nicely cooked and a good portion. The sauce that came with the cod seemed to be a lighter version of the sauce that came with the calamari. Again, more acid (lemon) would have been welcome. Wine: Okay, I'm being nitpicky here, but when I order wine from a restaurant I expect a nice glass (at home we are Riedel fans). The glasses were medium-grade molded wine glasses with a rolled lip - a no-no according to Riedel. The glasses are what I would expect from a hole-in-the-wall Italian joint, not a fine dining establishment. read more

This place is one of my favorite restaurants in Cleveland. I started the night off with a glass of wine, which they give you a tablet to pick your wine out with that has a description of the vineyard and the flavors of the wine. Very cool and helpful. The night my boyfriend and I went, the special was flank steak, cooked medium rare, with roasted potatoes. We both ordered the special and have no regrets. The flank steak was so tender and juicy, and it came with a sauce that flattered it so nicely. The presentation was outstanding, served on a wood platter, just stunning. After our meals, we both ordered dessert. I ordered the vanilla gelato and my boyfriend enjoyed the cheesecake that was served with assorted berries. The vanilla bean gelato was one of the BEST I have ever had. Made in house, it was very fresh and had a very rich vanilla taste. This is probably my favorite Italian Restaurant in Ohio. If you're going to splurge, this is worth every yummy bite. Our waitress Alli and her team, set us up to have a very special experience after all, it was Mo's birthday, why not. We were mildly surprised when she told us about the pasta sampler, where we could try 3 pasta on one plate and it's was amazing. Gnocchi, cavatelli & penne, carried a hearty price of 76.00 and the 4 of us could sample the three pastas, hey, why not? This is where we should of stopped but no! We each ordered a big bowl of the pasta which cam with a salad smothered with fresh cheeses that we loved, (at 35.00 each). Outside of the pasta , one of us ordered a seafood linguine bowl at 55.00, it came complete with a lobster claw, clams, crab legs and the sauce over the linguine, simply amazing. What a great place. It is expensive so it is not for frequent occasions (unless you have unlimited expense account and from the looks of the clientele, a lot of them do) but for a special occasions. Or come here for happy hour at the bar, 3-6pm, Monday through Friday. That's what my wife and I did. Great bar and happy hour menu! With the help of our bartender (Adrienne, you rock) went with caprese salad and meatballs - great choice for both of it. For dessert, we went off the menu and ordered cherry jubilee, prepared table side (pricey but so awesome, very rich and very filling). Definitely worth checking it out! read more

We love this place. It's on the roster for Friday Date Nights and special romantic luncheons. We were here on the night before Cleveland closed down in March. We're both high risk to catch this stupid COVID, so we've been home, cooking for ourselves, and not going out. We saw that Giovanni's was offering "Family pack" meals (for 4-6 people) that includes a salad, soup, protein, pasta and desert. We sprung for the Chicken Parmesan - the item that I order when we eat in the bar in person. The salad was HUGE, and so good, with a strawberry vinegrette. All the food was delish and we ate it for several meals (there's just 2 of us). It's a bit more $ than other places are offering right now, but the quality is there. If you're sick of cooking for yourself and everyone else in your home bubble, give their family pack a try. Regular items are also available for curbside pickup, or regular pickup. read more
