The food here is good. It taste like any other crêpe, but on the boardwalk. There is limited seating and they do not validate your parking. I got the banana Dulce de Leche crêpe, which was good. They put a lot of of the Dulce de Leche, which was nice. I'm not sure if there were knives, but it was pretty hard to cut into the crêpe with just a fork. They make the order in a big window in front of you so you can see how they're making it and it was a good experience. The crêpe came out pretty fast, which was nice. Yes...this is a touristy establishment in one of the most touristy spots in San Francisco. So of course, the lines can be long, and the prices are a bit high. But every time I am at Fisherman's Wharf, this is the last place I have to stop for some crepes to-go before we leave the area. There are no seats inside, and very few benches outside, but you can order the crepes to go and they'll pack up your order nicely for you. The best part is that you can watch them make the crepes for you while you wait. It amazes me how quickly everything cooks. While most folks go for the Nutella or strawberry...or strawberry AND Nutella crepes, this place makes some delicious savory crepes as well. The last time we were there, I tried a crepe with turkey, pesto, and cheese. The balance of flavors and quantity of add-ins was just right. I'm a loyal customer of this restaurant, traveling all the way from Concord just to enjoy their food. However, I was deeply disappointed with my recent experience. I arrived at 11:24 and ordered two crepes: one with banana and Nutella, and the other with strawberry and Nutella. To my disappointment, the cashier was in a bad mood. What truly caught my attention was the sight of one of the cooks eating inside the kitchen while preparing food. Remarkably, none of the other coworkers intervened or spoke to him. Stopped by for a crepe on the pier! It was a good spot to stop for a quick bite rather than a sit-down meal. Pretty pricey, $10 for a ham and cheese crepe, $5 for a soda and around $8 for some fries. We went to buy crepes and we sat down to eat in front of the store Then we heard the mexican guy from inside the store who works there saying "hey" very loudly and angry to a little boy and the poor boy went out crying so hard and terrified!! I went to this store with my family. We were so excited for dessert. We ordered and sat down. My kids were running around our table and went into the store one time. My 3 year old went and touched the payment machine screen once. And out of nowhere, one of the employees lunges toward my kid, stomps very loudly on the ground with his foot and yells "WAAAAHHHH!!!!!" At the top of his lungs, as if shoo-ing a rabid raccoon. My kid ran out terrified crying at the top of his lungs with true fear on his face. What the heck?! Who does that to a child?! What kind of human does that?! You can speak gently to a child or speak to the parents. But scare and traumatize the child?! What the heck is wrong with your brain?! It takes a very horrible person to be that evil towards a curious child. Other customers sitting around seemed appalled by what happened as well so it wasn't a biased feeling on my part. I tried talking to the employee and he was callous and could care less what I had to say and brushed me off angrily. Horrible!! He refused to give me his name and cussed me out in Spanish instead. In case you want to see him, there's a photo. Worse yet? The other two employees in the store acted like nothing happened. When I spoke up, they said "we didn't do anything, it was him". Different from most! The Pier 39 location of the Crepe Cafe has been around since 2002. I live close by so have had almost 20 years to frequent them. I can't say that I am a regular, but I have tried enough items off the menu to be a fair judge. I personally like their Basic, Breakfast and Breakfast Plus crepes, and the honorable mention goes to the Veggie Crepe! Their French Fries, coffee drinks and Hot Chocolate (especially on a chilly San Francisco afternoon) is pretty good too. So what is a crepe? Right?! Simply put, it is a very thin pancake. They usually come in two types: sweet and savory. The roots of Crepes go back to ancient Greece, but the type we are used to eating today comes from France. The Crepe Cafe serve their crepes with a variety of fillings like Spinach, Diced Red Onion, Feta & Cheddar Cheese (Florentine Crepe) or Sliced Turkey, Avocado, Monterey Jack & Pesto Sauce (Turkey Pesto). I love crepes and I feel you can't really go wrong with them unless you skimp on the toppings. The Crepe Cafe at Pier 39 did not disappoint, good food and good service on a slightly busy Saturday afternoon in March. We ordered 2 combos (crepe + fries + drink)... too much food, but it was a better deal. The fries were just standard fair food quality. But the crepes were outstanding. We opted for one sweet (strawberry and dark chocolate) and one savory (ham and cheese). Both were delicious. I loved watching through the outside window as they created our food, generous amount of toppings spread over the batter toasting on the griddle... a thick layer of dark chocolate chips covered with slices of fresh strawberries fused together to make a mouthwatering dessert I couldn't wait to devour. And our savory crepe was so yummy and filling, a heap of gooey melted cheese mixed with ham inside the wafer thin pancake-like batter wrap, so good even if so simple. One thing to note, on a busy day, there's very limited seating especially during COVID only 2-3 small tables... more benches can be found throughout the Pier, but let's be honest, no one enjoys eating from their lap (we were lucky enough to snag a table during our recent visit). Also, though people were wearing masks, there wasn't much social distancing going on (you can see from my photo of the line). But this was an issue throughout the entire Pier, not just at this specific eatery. This shop also doesn't have clear signage outside -- pickup/exit is on the left, and the entrance/line to order is through the door on the right. I gave this place 5 stars, because in a tourist location you often get high prices with low quality food. But our experience and meal was so satisfying, and a good choice for having a snack or treat while enjoying the shops and attractions at Pier 39. It exceeded expectations. read more
